What a painful week. I've been sick since Monday. I pushed through my work day, but driving home that evening was agonising. I could barely focus and wanted to just go to bed. My hips have been killing me and cost me most of my sleep nearly every night. Hope you all had a great week and weekend! 💜

I’m nervous about asking my rheumatologist if I can order a custom wheelchair for days when I have muscle weakness and pain. My pride is making me hesitate to ask.

Monday, I noticed as I was typing, that my fingers were slower. My typing speed was 80 in high school and has pretty much been the same since. I type really fast and I loved that I had that skill. But Monday, no matter how fast my brain wanted to type, my fingers would not go as fast as my brain wanted to. I recently had an issue with my DMARD medicine. I found myself in a drunken state and rather light headed. Others around me have noticed, even though I tried so hard to hide it that I was limping. My left leg tends to experience muscle weakness. I can still hide it with the help of my right leg and walking a certain way, but there are times that I can’t. Lately, I haven’t been able to hide it as well as I used to. So if you see me with a cane, I’m using it for balance, as I’ve been tripping more lately.

Yesterday, I made an inquiry about a new wheelchair through my insurance. Now my insurance has been amazing during my health journey. A lady named Emma called me. I declined to answer the call because I didn’t know who it was, so she texted me and we came to the agreement that she will call me around 12:30pm on Monday (8/28/2023). I’m nervous. The worst this disease gets, the harder it is to walk. Over the years, I’ve had to give up physically demanding jobs because I would come home in so much pain and no energy to do anything when I got home to do what I needed to do around the house. I have Spondyloarthritis which fuses bones together over time. Most people with the disease can live about 30 years or so. Well, so far, after finally getting a diagnosis, I realised that I’ve had it for about 8 years, give or take. The muscle weakness is the worst part because I am more at risk for falling. During hospital stays, I usually have a yellow fall risk bracelet on because I’ve most likely fallen within three months prior to that hospital stay. So I’m thinking that a new chair will help with that.
