Hi there!

I've been getting posts answering this list for the last days, so I feel like the theoi want me to answer. I want to use this time I have to further develop my practice and continue with the research and devotional acts I stopped doing

Without further ado, let's catch up on the last three days!

Day one

Who was the first deity you began worshipping? Do you still worship them now?

Well, tbh the way I started worshiping the gods was kind of weird. When I first started, I didn't do it entirely consciously. I started praying to diferent gods when I needed help with something up in their area, and it was quite some time until I realised "Yes, I believe in the ancient greek gods and I want to start worshipping them"

In fact, I did devotional acts such as researching and keeping a journal on them before I committed to Hellenic paganism lol.

The first deity I worshipped though (not only prayed to), was Lady Aphrodite, and without even fully understanding, I started a self-love journey with her!

I continue to worship her. She is my patron godess, and though lately I haven't been as close to her, I hope to rekindle that relationship.

Day two

Which deity did you most recently start worshiping? Were you called to them, or did you reach out first? Do you think there were specific reasons behind why you were drawn to them?

That would be Lord Hermes! It isn't so recent, and as usual, there was a tentative back and forth between us before I properly started to worship him. I believe I asked for help first because I had issues during a trip, and I usually ask for his overall protection during them. I think I was drawn to Him because at core I'm a traveler, I need to travel and adventure to heal my soul. Also, I think He felt that I needed a little bit of sillyness. I'm usually a very serious person, but he makes me laugh a lot! Besides, I think I felt a little lost in my life, and he is guiding me through a time of many changes.

Day three

How long ago did you start hellenic polytheism?

Another complicated question for me! My brain works in a weird way, and usually, I spend months toying with an idea and suddenly wake up one day and consider it a part of my being. That happened with figuring out my sexuality, my gender identity, and my beliefs. So I don't remember exactly when I started toying with that idea nor when I incorporated fully. But it has been at least TWO whole years!!

I still have much to learn. Time has passed me by incredibly fast, and I feel like I lost a lot of time in my practice. However, I'm glad I had the theoi with me the last couple of years.

Today, I felt the unshakable urge to do creative things. I looked at my desk full of unfinished projects, and I wanted to do it ALL. all at once. I ended up picking my watercolors after almost a year. I felt Apollo throughout it all.

Also, I was making letters for my some of my professors (I graduated yesterday from hs), so I feel like Lord Hermes and Lady Aphrodite were there too (especially because I did one of those Victorian letter puzzles).

Tomorrow I'll post my new altar!! I finally put it together!! And I'm so happy!!!

I may also share my greek mythology inspired scrapbook (mind you I began working on it way before I started worshiping the theoi so it's myth based and not thoroughly researched in reliable sources) (it's also in spanish but hey! it looks pretty in every language :D)

Tiktok is probably one of THE WORST places to learn about REAL hellenic polytheism because it is rampant with misinformation and most creators are only interested in views and parroting misinformation THEY heard. Yes there are some great and informative creators on there to learn about the hellenic gods but they are far and few in-between.

INSTEAD if you're new to the religion and have no clue where to start researching/learning, here are a few phenomenal creators on here with wonderful and informative posts!

@khaire-traveler has possibly the greatest list on subtle deity worship for just about every god

Please actually learn from those of us that truly love and covet this religion and spread information that will truly benefit you.

I always felt the gods here with me throughout my life, even before I started worshipping them.

When there was a thunderstorm I would go to the window and bask in the embrace of the lightning, beautiful and spectacular I thought it was. The comforting sound and feeling of the storm was calming to me.

That was King Zeus with me, giving me a sense of peace when others wouldn’t feel it.

The feeling of parental instinct when a child is in need. Wanting to make your family proud and trying your best to be strong, for them. Doing whatever you have to do so everyone in your life is safe.

That was Queen Hera with me, protecting me and others.

Going to the beach and collecting seashells. Splashing in the water with my loved ones, finding new rocks and walking along the seashore, smelling the salty sea breeze, it’s amazing.

That’s Poseidon with me, showing me the beauty of the sea.

Thinking about the loved ones that passed. Having them in my memories and feeling their presence here even though they aren’t.

Thats Hades with me, remembering the past.

Taking care of the Earth. Cooking your meals by yourself. Being grateful for your belongings and food. Respecting others and willing to do anything for your loved ones, and keeping them safe.

That’s Demeter with me, caring and understanding.

Learning. Making sure your studies are fufilled. Being a strategist and using your brain before doing. Trying extra hard to pass your classes. Wanting peace between war.

That’s Athena with me, reminding me to try my best.

Loving. Giving my friends the love they deserve. Always trying to make them happy, even if im upset that day. Trying to love my family even when they make me feel negative about myself.

That’s Aphrodite with me, loving unconditionally.

Losing my temper, controlling my temper, feeling strong emotions. When I get mad I can’t even think. So angry I might start a war. Standing up for what I believe in. Making myself known.

That’s Ares with me, and my emotions.

Feeling the sun heal my soul. Using music as an escape from reality. Guiding me throughout the day with the light that shines in the darkest parts of me. Healing myself.

That’s Apollo with me, using his light to save me.

Watching the moon glow at night. Hunting for my purpose in life, and learning new things. Archery. I hold the bow high, aim, and shoot. It’s easy for me because of her. She showed me the way.

That’s Artemis with me, guiding me throughout the night.

That feeling when you built something by yourself. It’s so amazing, like you can do anything else, and you seem powerful for once. The best thing you can feel. Pride.

That’s Hephaestus with me, building my pride.

The warmth you feel in your heart when you are in your room. It’s the happiness of being in control of yourself. Being hospitable towards others.

That’s Hestia with me, warming my heart.

Having fun. Doing what you love. Dramatizing yourself and being playful with others. Always leading with what you want to do. Making time for your passions.

That’s Dionysus with me, reminding me to have fun.

Traveling. Doing new things. Trying to find new passions. Not be afraid of getting in a little trouble. Playing pranks and games with people you love. Getting to act like a kid again.

That’s Hermes with me, making sure my childish needs are filled.

Dreaming. Imagining yourself in a different way. Seeing the beauty of another life. Being someone else entirely, you can do anything. Nothing can limit you now. The feeling of being cradled to sleep like a baby. The care you are being handled with.

That’s Hypnos with you, and in your dreams

They were always with me, and now im with them.

Yesterday, I was walking home without any thoughts in my head, when all of a sudden, a stickingly loud "You lost the game" crossed my mind. I was shocked like, why did I remember that I never do.

And then I clocked him. "Hermes!"

And then I felt like a giddiness that wasn't coming from me. He asked "How did you know it was me?"

And I was like, I have never ever in my life remembered the game, I was always reminded of it so it wouldn't make sense for it to pop up out of nowhere. Plus, it wasn't my voice.

Anyways that gave me a lot of joy. He was clearly enjoying himself and I was too. It's been so long since I had such a clear, distinctive conversation with one of my deities, and I'm glad he reached out (even if it was at my cost 😂)

the more i think about the gods the more i realise they have always been with me. 

Hephaestus was with me, brimming with excitement, as I grinned at my projects in wood work. Poseidon has been with me since my birth when i was born under the warm water of a bathtub and he has been with me every single time i went to the beach and felt such a distinct calling to the ocean. Demeter was with me as i played in the mud and played pretend in the forest as a child and now as i go for walks through nature. Aphrodite is holding my hand every step of the way as i try and find myself. it was her arms i cried into after every break up. she is tucking my hair back and adjusting my clothes as i look in the mirror and feel confident. she is swimming with me and Poseidon at the beach. she calls me to her birthplace like a moth to flame. Apollo has embraced me every time i smile up with the sun on my face. he grinned at me every time i thanked someone for saying my hair looked nice in the sun. it was his arms that held me upright through every performance and it is he who dances with me every time i dance around my house. Zeus is there when my breath catches as thunder strikes above me. He danced with me and my brother and my mum in the rain when i was a child. Athena is rocking out to bikini kill and green day with me. she lives through me in the rage i feel at the world. i feel her embrace when i get excited about finally understanding my maths work. she holds my hand through every exam. it is Hestia’s arms who cradle me when i am warm and cosy in my bed. she embodies the feeling of waking up when its chilly outside but im warm under my blanket. she is with me when i smell the candles i light. Hera sits beside me and grins over my shoulder when i look at wedding ideas on pinterest. she is the one cooing at baby pictures with me when i get bad bouts of baby fever. she is cradling me in her arms when i hear my parents argue and i feel scared. Artemis is watching curiously as i freeze for a moment when i see wildlife on girl guide camp. she is the complete awe on the younger girls faces when we see a kangaroo in the distance or a cool bug on the ground. she and her brother are adjusting my posture and footing when i hold a bow and aim for a target. she is the happiness i feel when i look up and see a bright moon. she is giggling at baby videos with me and Hera during my days of baby fever. Persephone is the giddy smile on my face when i realise its Spring! its finally my birthday season and i couldn’t be happier. she is holding my hand and laughing herself silly as my friends and i try and figure out the weather during school. she is sitting calmly with me as i weave flowers together to put in my hair. Hades is in the drop of my heart when i feel my life flash before my eyes. he embraces me when i am trying to wrap my head around the concept of death. he holds my friends close when they experience loss. Ares is alive and well in my mind as i type a snarky response to someone i cannot stand online. he is with me, cheering me on as i start arguments and fight for my beliefs. Hermes grins over my shoulder as i receive money for my birthday. he is with me when my father and i watch Italian telenovelas so we can learn Italian together. he embraces me when i am anxious about travelling or going somewhere. it is his arms that hold me close and soothe my panic as i realise how far away from home i am. 

I have always felt the gods around me. I have just never been able to put a word to the feelings I feel. I cherish their love so much ❤️

i will never understand why we stopped worshipping the sun .

the sun carries energy, showers the land with light, yet we stopped worshipping him . we bask in his rays daily, we pray for him to peek out from behind the clouds of a thunderstorm, yet we do not think to thank him .

let this serve as a reminder to thank the sun for what he does for us & our planet ☉

Honestly the fact that Disney can give Zeus his flowers more than some of you is really quite upsetting. Especially when you seem to have no issues showering Hades in a whole garden of flowers.

I feel like I haven't appreciated Lady Aphrodite enough in this page, and that just cannot be.

Thank you my Lady for helping me through my self-love journey and for making me prioritize myself, my body and mind.

Thank you for letting me explore myself and my style in a safe space in which none of my desicions are judged.

Thank you for aiding me when I feel unhappy, for showing me the beautiful sides of life, friendship and love.

Thank you for helping me understand that love comes in many shapes and it's not always romantic. Thank you for answering my prayers, not always with what I asked for, but with what I needed the most. Thank you for gifting me the opportunity to find friendship in new places and enjoy my life to its fullest.

I can't wait to continue on this journey with you in which I can explore myself, the world and others learning to care and show I do, and love deeply without any restrictions.
