Final Thesis Project thoughts

      In NMJ90, students were instructed on how to compose their final thesis proposals. This marked a commendable conclusion to an enriching learning experience. The outline of the examples provided effectively prepared us for the completion of the project. Although the thesis paper required a considerable amount of work, including writing, corrections, feedback, and revisions, the timelines and outlines presented to us facilitated improvement and clarity, rendering the thesis process seamless.  

         At the commencement of the course, my anticipation was to acquire the necessary skills to formulate a thesis statement and refine my writing competencies utilizing the APA format. Additionally, I sought to enhance my writing skills to produce a research-based thesis by integrating both journalistic and academic skills. Lastly, I intended to thoroughly investigate the selected article and conduct more detailed research aimed at my audience's needs.  

        As the course reached its conclusion, I attained a more profound understanding of the subject I presented, constructing a research-based follow-up story that is free of bias. Furthermore, I learned the essential techniques for writing a proper thesis paper that adheres to correct formatting and research standards, culminating in the production of my l published research thesis. This undertaking facilitated my transition from writing as a student to engaging in professional writing as a journalist and researcher. According to Luis Francisco, writing a thesis can improve one’s journalistic skills and help develop more insightful articles.

            This course has significantly enhanced my skills as a journalist by instructing me on the execution of comprehensive research to substantiate my theses and articles. The deeper I delved into my research, the more inquiries arose, and with each inquiry, I felt compelled to seek resolutions. This process has instilled in me a desire to comprehend multiple perspectives, thereby enabling me to deliver a clear, unbiased article for my readership. I intend to apply these newly acquired skills in both my writing and journalistic endeavors when composing and presenting stories. Additionally, I plan to incorporate the thesis paper into my professional portfolio as a representative writing sample. 

This class was very in-depth, and it taught me how to improve my professional writing skills
