first time writing fanfiction, kinda nervous..😅

PLEASE give me advice i really need it

Every day you go by the same schedule: Alarm goes off at 6:00 AM, snooze it a couple of times, get to school, clock in at the coffee shop, admire that cute Christian girl who stops by every day, clock out, go home, sleep, repeat. Today was no other.

"Dude just make a move on her, the worst she can do is say no" your co-worker, Alyssa says. You're friends with Alyssa and she so happens to be a close friend to the cute Christian whose name was "Kate Marsh".

"Yeah but shes totally outta my league, what would I even say?" You take a pause and start saying a little too loud, "hey Kate, I know we've never spoken and I probably look like a weirdo for looking at you all the time but I have a big fat lesbian crush on you and I want to take you out on a date"

She then looks over.

She... smiled and blushed?

"Whaat the fuckkk" Alyssa says, full of confusion. "I didn't think she swung that way, I was just saying that stuff to shut you up. Now you totally have to ask her out" She added on.

"Okay yeah, I know what I have to do". You then go to the counter and make some of Kate's favorite tea.

You then walk over to the table with two chairs by the windows, sometimes she drinks tea with Max Caulfield but this time, shes alone.

"Uh, hey Kate.. I know you heard what I said about you like five minutes ago. I made you this tea and uh I get off at 7PM.. yeah, have a good day" you manage to say, sweating bullets. You then try to speedwalk away but you feel an arm on your wrist.

"Yeah, I heard what you said. It's okay, I think I feel the same. I don't know, I've never really felt this way before. But I'll be here waiting for you after your shift" She says softly, then gives you a warm smile you could die for. You smile back and blush "slightly" (Your whole face was red)

You walk back over and see Alyssa giving you a shit-eating grin, "Shut up, I'm happy"

"Yup, oh shit" she curses under her breath as she burned herself with coffee. Third time this week by the way.

The second the clock hits 7PM, you clock out and giddily walk over to Kate

"Sorry to keep you waiting" you huff out. "No problem, I enjoyed waiting, the Playlist was nice," she says in her warm tone. You momentarily think if you could ever see her mad, but you can't. "Oh yeah, thanks, that was me in charge of the music" you respond then motion Kate to follow you. She follows you then you think about trying to hold her hand. She noticed that you look a little tense, so she grabs your hand as a way to comfort you.

"Thanks," you mumble, just barely above a whisper. "What was that?" Kate says, knowing exactly what you said. "Never mind that" You shake your head then open the passenger seat to your car and Kate gets in. You get into the driver's seat and start driving back to your dorm room at Blackwell. The drive back is quiet, with only the radio with Kate's music in the background. It was silence, but a comfortable one. And you wouldn't trade this moment for anything, and neither would Kate.

You guys make it to your dorm room. It's rather cold, posters of various pieces of media on the walls, avalanches of blankets in the corner, messy but also tidy at the same time.

"Sorry it's messy, I wasn't planning for any company. I mean- not like I don't want you here, I do it's just-" "Relax, I know what you mean" Kate interrupts you mid-sentence, then cups your face into her hands.

Both you and Kate are laying on your bed, not quite too sure what to do.

"So, do you want to watch a movie? I have But I'm a cheerleader rented right now" You say, trying to make it less awkward.

"Yeah, that sounds nice" she replies, not knowing what that is, but is interested in watching it

As you guys are watching the movie, you cant help but thinking that you and Kate could be Megan and Graham. Hopefully, Kate feels the same.

By the time the movie was done, you felt a small weight on your shoulder and see that Kate has fallen asleep on your arm. You secretly take your phone out to take a picture of her in her sleepy state then lay her down so you guys can sleep.

Your alarm goes off and you groan then snooze it.

"Hey thats not good, you know?" Kate says, referring to snoozing the alarm.

"Yeah I know, but it's never enough sleep" You groan. Kate starts stretching herself out of bed then you follow her right after. Unfortunately, it was only a Thursday so there was school today. You guys get ready together and it's amazing, the conversation flows so naturally, breezing from topic to topic. But alas, all good things must come to an end so you guys have to depart. Before you guys leave the dorms, you look Kate in the eyes and say:

"Thank you so much for such a nice night, I really did enjoy it, and I'd love to do it again with you someday"

"Yeah that sounds nice, make sure to give me a call, okay? And also, the movie was nice, it made me think of us" Kate responds, then kisses you on the cheek.

"Holy shit" Alyssa says, from across the girls' dormitories.

thoughts/analysis on nathan prescott ✌️

i love nathan’s character.. like i actually FUCKING HATE HIM but his character is captivating me. perfect representation of what happens to men in the patriarchy. especially cooped with his insane amount of privilege and mental health issues.

he never gets to deal with his emotions in a healthy way. only anger, take it out on everyone else. take these meds and dont talk about you feelings in any meaningful or impactful way.

nathan craves control. he feels like all the control in his life has been taken away, he craves the control his father has. so he tries to take it any way he can: fighting people, not listening to teachers, taking drugs, being popular, (probably) not taking his meds, etc. and his lack of any real consequences from the authorities doesn’t help either. nathan’s father will basically buy his way out of anything, the only consequences he has to fear is from his father and his peers.

nathan’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. he does crazy shit, gets a reputation from it, pushes people away, and does more crazy shit bc of it. he forces himself into this role from an attempt to gain control, only to feel like he loses all of his control bc he’s in that role.

of course, nathan’s friends, who have known him from the start, fall into the “but he hasn’t done anything to ME” category, or the people who claim “he would never do that” and have their love for him overshadow the probable reality.

nathan also intensely craves for a father figure. a MAN to look up to. not only because of his daddy issues but also the patriarchy. so when jefferson strolls up, ready to give him that male validation he so desperately craves for, he jumps for it.

jefferson gives him an outlet for all his issues, a way for him to gain control. he points nathan in the direction of taking all his emotions out on the women around him. and it furthers the societal thinkings in his head that women are weak, weaker than men, and that he can control them. that they might be the only thing he CAN control. and it’s his insane need for control that ends up killing him in the end.

does he feel guilty for it? of course. he’s human after all. but his guilt and moral conscience isn’t enough to make him stop. he knows what he’s doing is wrong, but he’s definitely found some sort of justification for it in his head. that he’s doing it to protect himself, or that he’s too deep in now, or whatever the fuck you could make up. that’s how people work. especially people like nathan.

i do definitely feel a degree of pity for nathan, almost only for his prequel state, but at the end of the day my anger is stronger than my pity for him. he CHOSE his path. he’s a victim, of jefferson, his father, his society— but no where near as much of a victim as kate, rachel, or any other dark room victim. he chose to go into the dark room, they didn’t. it’s like when you punch someone in the face, your fists hurt, but they just got punched in the face.

i see a lot of people saying “i wish i could’ve been friends with him, i could’ve helped him.” when in reality, if you were a girl, then probably not. nathan had plenty of women in his life who were willing to help him, but he pushed them all away. even victoria was willing to stay wary of him during the end of the game. nathan craved that male validation so bad, he went through insane lengths for it.

there’s a lot of ouroboros characters in this game, but him and chloe r def prolly one of the more intense ones.
