Chapter 4.5: Nuance

Hello I just wanted to write a little tid bit on how Nova's expectance letter went -A

TW: Bad parenting, alcoholism, screaming parent 

Nova hurries home in hopes of finding her acceptance letter before her mother does, what happens when her worst nightmare comes true?

After leaving the sleeping Midoryia cuddle pile Nova trudged her way back down to her own home. She was greatful she didn't have to walk such a distance at this time of night, even being 15 years old she absolutely hates the dark. 

Walking down a few more houses Nova finally stops in front of her and her mother's little 2 bedroom home. Over the years, and through Novas mothers neglect, the house almost looked abandoned, the beautiful garden and lushes vines that once littered their little property had all died off long ago. Shrivelling and turning brown, breaking of in chunks leaving the ground nasty and mangled. 

The only indication that anyone lived there were the lights that can be seen shining through the windows at odd hours of the day. 

Normally at this time the lights are off and her mother has drunken herself to sleep yet again, but as she stands in front of her home, she can feel a sense of impending doom. The lights in the house are on, the screen door wide open as if expecting her arrival. 

Climbing up the steps she makes note of the open mail lid.   Fuck.    Nova inwardly groans, of course the one thing she didn't want happen, is happening.

Steeling herself she took a breathe and took a peak into the mail box, nothing, absolutely empty, her stomach drops. She closes the lid with small movements. As if she were to move to fast everything around her would cave. 

Putting her hand on the doorknob she sends a small prayer to whatever Gods out there are listening. Please let her mother be in a good mood please let her mother be in a good mood plea-

But of course so soon as the door opens her mother's super hearing kicked in. Of all the mothers in the world her mother just had to have a quirk for super hearing, and if her mother didn't hear her first, Nova could definitely smell her anger, the burnt rusty smell of old oil and gasoline.

"CASSANOVA MARIE KAMIYA!" Her mother's voice booms "GET YOUR ASS IN HERE RIGHT NOW!" At this point Nova knows the drill when being yelled at. Blank face, constant nodding, aggreing to shit she disagrees with, placate her till she's tired. 

This time the air different, she gets a bad feeling in her gut and she tells herself to be prepared for anything. Rounding the corner nice and slow there stands her mother, the house around her is surprisingly clean. Void of bear cans and endless energy drinks cans. Odd.

Her mother stands in the kitchen, arms crossed face tight, eyes wild, and before her sits Nova's U.A. letter,red seal sitting right in the middle for display, shit. Her mother doesn't speak, she just stares, and stares, and stares.

Till finally, after what feels like an hour, even thought it was at most 30 seconds she speaks, calmly and quietly, a complete 180 from 10 seconds ago. "Open it." She states nodding at the letter before her. 

"What?" Nova questioned clearly not expecting this. "Did I fucking stutter, I said open it, NOW!" Novas mother slams her hand onto the table, snatching up the letter and throwing it at Nova's face, as it falls back onto the table. 

Nova can't help but glare at her mother, was that really necessary? Picking up the letter with caution, she really never quessed she would be finding out if she passed of failed the HERO exam in front of her HERO HATING mother was not how she wanted this to go. She knew she should have left the Midoryia's much sooner. 

Picking open the seal nearly made her vomit. She pulls out the paper and also a little circular device setting it onto the table. The black little device automatically comes to life showing hera hologram of All Might in all his glory, it was like he was standing right in front of her. He's wearing a yellowing pinstripe suit and solid black shoes, kinda normal teacher attire, also weird. 

As soon as he appears, his figure begins to laugh.

"Hello Ms. Nova, it is a pleasure to speak with you today." All Might is wearing his usual grin throwing up his hand into a pair of thumbs up. "You caused quite a stir with your little stunt last week, Ms. Nova, you have a lot of people talking about you " 

Nova finally turns her attention to her mother who is now standing right next to her a look of indifference on her face, All Might continues. "Personally ma'am I've never seen such a quirk like yours in a long long time." All Might throws his hands onto his hips "That's why I am so proud of your performance Ms.Nova." 

A little screen pops up next to All Mights head and Nova recognizes herself in an instant she then notes that it's a recording of her performance. It must be footage from the end because Nova seems to be slowing down, her swings are sluggish, and her bombs appear less and less. 

Then she watches herself in what felt like slow motion, her running away, the crying contestant, the bomb, the  0 pointer, the explosion,, the falling robot, then the second explosion, and then the replay ends. 

All Might continues "How can we ignore such a valiant hero, a woman trying her best to save those around her no matter the consequences to herself!" 

All Mights smile turns even brighter as he spoke the words, words she never planned on needing but she spoke them a sense of relief washes over her despite her mothers growing anger."Welcome Ms.Nova to U.A. High, this is your journey to becomeing a real pro." He goes on to explain all necessities for class and our schedules are all ready printed, also being sent with the written acceptance letter "I leave you with a great moto of our great school, have a good semester and do your best, PLUS ULTRA!" 

The video cuts out, and the hologram of All Might disappears. Nova stands still, she has no idea what her mother's going to do. She knows how she feels about heros, but unfortunately her need to protect Izuku is far stronger than her mothers misplaced hatred. 

The house is silent except the heavy breathing coming from both woman. "Do you really hate me that much, you took the literal HERO EXAM behind my back, just to what spite me make a point?" Her mother whispers silently. It pains her to hear talk in such a way sometimes but she knows it's a ploy. A pity card to guilt trip her out of whatever she doesn't want her to do. "I don't hate you mom, but I have promises to keep and people to protect, including you, ya know, that why I did it." 

It's not the answer her mother wants to hear, and her attitude switches in an instant, spitting at her instead "I don't need your goddamn protection, I'm YOUR mother for fucks sake you don't protect me it's my job to fucking protect you, why can't you see that these heros don't give a shit about you!" 

Nova has many choices words for her mother but arguing with her won't ever help, but she can feel the bubble rising in her throat none the less. "Well clearly your "protection" hasn't been good enough if you didn't even recognize your own daughter was training for the last 4 months for this!" Nova snapped, "CLEARLY!" Her mother shouted at her, throwing her hands into the air.

"Mom your barely sober this long on a good day," She can't help but sneer at her mother, her anger still bubbling inside her, "Why don't you just grab a beer and go to bed like you usually do it's not like you've ever given a shit about me so why start now, oh I know it's because it's not what MOM wants me to do, never mind what I WANT, because I'm just the child and your the adult, right, right, well when the child takes care of the adult more than the adult takes care of the child I think they have every right to do what they please!" Nova smacks the table in front of her mimicking her mother behavior from earlier. 

Novas huffing from her long rant, she didn't scream at her mother heavens no, but she definitely gave her what for like she had been wanting to for some time.

Her mother just stares at her, eyes blank and unreadable. She doesn't tell she doesn't screen she just scoffs at her and much to her surprise her mother turns around and she does as Nova has instructed, even if she was just jabbing at her for being a drunk, she proves her right by grabbing 3 beers from the fridge and locking herself into her room with a slam of her bedroom door. 

Nova runs her hands over her face keeping them there as she tried to regulate her emotions. She loves her mother, she really does, but sometimes, it's really too much, shit like this that should be simple and easy family discussion becomes screaming matches if it doesn't fit her mother quota.

"Meow." Looking down Holly is at her feet rubbing herself on Novas legs, in comfort, for food, or just in boredom she doesn't know but she picks up her kitty and locks herself in her room, with her acceptance letter in hand reading all the information given. 

Class 1A huh well this is going to be, interesting, but damn what her mother says she will be going to U.A she will become a hero, she will protect Izuku, even if it the last thing she does.

Chapter 4: Start Line

Omg 2 back to back who am I, I would like to apologize now I am not an experienced writer this is strictly just for my pleasure and idk how to write fight scenes lmao, they punched they kicked oh man it was wild, proofread but not you know the drill.-A

With the start of the exam Nova realizes she is way in over her head resorting in what she really didn't want to do, use her quirk. 

The hallowed grounds of U.A. the school with the best hero training course in the world, the place every kid wants to go. 

Sure, there are similar programs out there, but they don't hold a candle to U.A.'s, which is why it's almost impossible to get in. 

The schools alumni list is a "who's who" of idols All Might the most famous pro there is. The legendary peace keeper with the most wins under his belt the Fiery Hero Endeavor. Not to mention the denim-clad, award winning marvel, Best Jeanist. 

Graduating from U.A. is basically a requirement if you want to be a great hero. At least that's what Izuku has been preaching for the last 10 months. Talking about this hero graduated from U.A. and that person graduated from U.A. it was all he would talk about. 

But as Nova stands before the gigantic metal gates of the battle arena, staring up at the walls surrounding it she can see now what Izuku was talking about, with structures like these U.A. must have many sponsors to help set up this sort of thing because this would cost hundreds of thousands of yen to build. 

She's not the only one marveling there are many contestants who are also murmering in amazement. 

"It's like a whole city!" 

"Can you imagine how much it cost to build this?"

"U.A. is amazing!" 

As the students around her gawk and stare, Nova makes sure to open her backpack full of support items, she had no idea what she would be up against but she figured her bet was going to be packing pretty much everything she can build. 

Good thing she brought her tool belt. She packed it full with as much as she could, her emp bombs, her water diffusers, her taser, and her thermobaric bomb. She also packed a couple other simple things like a screwdriver, a pocketknife, and some grade a armoured heat protectant gloves, those will come in handy later. 

She also had her main weapon a staff of her own creation, she called this prototype A60M 1 she has another prototype similar to this one sitting at home she calls that one Ev3 2. A60M 1 or adam she likes to also call him, is a self made  bo staff thats essentially a miniature hydron electric pulse reactor, capable of disrupting electrical currents by essentially using its own electronic field to disrupt the signal reseptors of anything around it. It it's capable of many other things but that is Adams main base function. 

As she grabs what she needs and leaves what she doesn't, she gets back onto the shuttle bus to shove her bag back into her seat being jarred from her thoughts as she hears the loud blonde hero, who's name she learned on the ride here was Present Mic, begin to yell. 

"ALRIGHT, LETS START!"

"GET MOVING THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES!"

"RUN, RUN, RUN, LISTENERS!"

"YOU'RE WASTING YOUR AIRTIME HERE!" 

Nova can see through the dirty windows of the shuttle bus as the big metal gates of the battle area open in front of the candidates and said group rushes forward without a second thought. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit 

She was already off to a bad start as she flung her self of the bus she came crashing down to the ground with the thud barely giving herself time to adjust to being on the ground before she took off right after the other candidates. 

As she enters the arena, she can already hear the clashing of metal as other contestants begin to battle it out for a spot at the top. 

Nova doesn't want the top she just want to be able to get into U.A. she really didn't care about which class just a class. 

There are a still plenty of robots around her to get herself ahead. She begins by fishing out her water diffusers first, she needs to use the weak options first just to see if they would even work. Plus if the water diffusers themselves didn't do anything when the emp or the thermobaric bomb comes into contact it could fry the whole area something she also needs to be aware of 

Heaven forbid she accidentally hurt another contestant shed never forgive herself. She had to be cautious. 

In front of her there are two 1 point robots heading her way, it's now or never she deploys the water bombs onto the ground straight into their path. As soon as they roll over the bombs the robots will be encased with water. In the meantime she had to make sure the robots would stay on the same path. That's were Adam comes in, Adam has an extension feature one that makes him just long enough to hit the robots where it matters most.

30 feet the 25 then 15 then 10 then 5 and then, as soon as the bots roll over the bombs they explode. Water shooting up underneath them like a geyser, rattling the robots and setting them of center, using Adam like a bat Nova swings at the two robots hitting one of them in the side dragging it into the other as she uses her momentum to slam both robots into the building beside her. 

She watches as the robots crumple in on themselves as the red light in their eyes fades to balck. Even when not using her quirk it gives her some kind of strength to buff while still being dormant allowing her more strength than most, why she doesn't know it's just the way it works. 

It's good though the water bombs actually do work well against them good to know, and Adam? She retracts the staff back into its original form giving it a spin or two in her hands. Oh boy is she glad she made the staff durable. 

Moving on she rifles through the belt around her waste pulling out her next tool, the emp disrupters. Now Nova's devices have a little bit a a kick to them, as well as the disrupting electron waves that come from the device, each emp bomb as a built in sonar radar, set up that when deployed will launch a perimeter and ping onto a small device in Novas belt where other robots could possibly be hidden. 

Right after the two 1 hitters arrived, she would soon realize the sonar but in her emp bombs could've been scrapped, because she finds no shortage of robots in this battle arena. It seems like when she takes down 2, 4 more pop up in its place. It's almost never ending, water bomb afterwater bomb, emp after emp, she even had used her taser already. 

Although after shocking 4 robots in a row it seemed to have given out, forcing Nova to toss it aside. It wasn't really much anyway being hand made from a old washed up hospital defibrillator, some fishing magnets, and a sticky protective barrier on the handles for her hands, replacing the pads that had been most likely lost at sea. 

She was running out of water and emp bombs and she, with all her strength, can only swing for so long, it's time shes decided, for the thermobaric bomb. She needs a strategy she can't just got willy nilly throwing this bomb it could kill others and possibly herself, she needed to be careful.

Backing up a few paces she can see that she might not have the time for strategy, the robots keep multiplying as if there was no end to them. The only thing Nova could note was that there weren't other candidates close enough to be injured in the great explosion that was sure to follow. 

When she first started training and building her equipment for the exam she had no idea what she was going to need for this test she made a variety of lethal and non lethal bombs just to make sure she had more then one option in case some had to be left behind. 

The thermobaric bomb she had created was a one of a kind make, she was surprised to find most to all these ingredients along the beach, it's was also very concerning. The bomb was made from an old spray can container, it was the only small pressurized bottle she could find that could hold what she needed. The bomb itself was filled with, compressed CO2 from an old CO2 tank that also looks like it came from a hospital, pool chlorine from the store, and an thermite mixture she found from an old abandoned welding gun.

Much to her dismay with said parts being from the beach she has no idea if the bomb will even explode the way she needs it to. With her luck the second she lights it it's going to explode in her face, even though she thinks she'd be ok, she can't think about that now not when the robots are closing in on her. 

Then she pulls out her special gloves from the right side of her belt, the ones she grabbed from her duffle bag earlier, these gloves are ones she "bought" during her sketchy black market trip for her suit.Which she notes is working wonders, vet lightweight, breathable, stretchy against her bigger form, but shes not going to give a full review right now.

These gloves specifically are designed to withstand heat and fire up to 700 degrees fahrenheit, and just as a precaution she might have "borrowed" them from the store owner. That's what he gets for over charging her on the suit. As she pulls the bomb out of its protective pocket she hears a shrilling, screaming voice behind her. 

Great.

"HELP ME, PLEASE SOMEONE KILL THESE THINGS!"

"HELP ME, PLEASE I WANT MY MOMMY PLEASE!" 

The screaming scared her so much she nearly dropped the bomb giving herself a heart attack, as she caught it and brought it to her chest with a huff. With no time to think she has to roll out of the way trying to avoid being hit from the robots that are now right behind her. She had a plan a really really stupid plan, but it's the one she knows will work. 

She turns tail and runs, and as she ran she could feel it her quirk bubbling up from the depths of its hibernation, her skin begins to itch, it like it's anticipating somethings going to go wrong. 

She ran straight at the snotting, screaming, short little boy in front of her, if she didn't want him to get hurt this was her only option. The boy in front of her looked no taller than a toddler, he even had a makeshift diaper on as what looked to be a terribly made makeshift hero suit.

The hair that was supposed to be on his head were balls instead. At least that what they looked like, round and purple, odd, but she couldn't allow herself to wonder weather or not that was his quirk or just weirdly shaped hair, she had a job to do. 

"PLEASE SAVE ME, PLEASE PLEASE, ANYONE!" 

It takes but two seconds to scoop up the screaming candidate and run. She ran and ran as the candidate she carried blubbered and cried, what a hero he would be.  Not even 100 feet away from the robots she drops the candidate next to her and tells him to run for it. He takes no time and takes off screaming thanks and sorries as he cried the entire way back.

Turning around the gaggle of robots are now 50 feet away, and that when she hears it, a soft rumbling and squeaking of wheels, sounds she thought were coming from the obvious robots in front of her but no. The soft rumbling becomes louder and louder as the ground beneath her begins shake violently, knocking her off her feet and knocking the bomb right out her her hand.  Shit. Shit. Shit. It happens so fast as she falls to the ground she looks up and it's looming over her. The biggest robot she's seen in her life, the 0 pointer, it must be the one Present Mic was talking about, speaking of, it's massive bigger than what they had let on. 

"LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!" Said blonde screamed in warning.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. This can't be happening. She has no idea how many points is needed to get into U.A., she figured a lot and she was no where near the quota she had set for herself. She must have hit her head when she fell because her ears are ringing and her head is spinning.

The robots are now 20 feet away, as they keep crawling forward, she pats the ground around her looking for Adam and when she finds him the robots are 10 feet away.

The thermobaric bomb is 5 feet away she has no time to think, she was going to use Adam to scoop up the bomb and throw it into the pile of them but now it's to late. Nova tightens the cover of her hood and mask and curls into a ball on the road sheilding the uncovered parts of her face with her gloves. Then it happens one of the robots rolls right onto the bomb and it explodes.

She can feel the heat of the bomb against her skin, she does her best to shield herself from the robots shrapnel but she still gets some cuts here and there. The explosion from the bomb she packed was huge it's range nearly reaching 50 feet causing most to all the robots around her to go up into flames. 

As the shrapnel around her slows to a stop she slowly opens her eyes, note to self, next time bring safety glasses. Opening them fully she sees the carnage she had caused robots melting and malfunctioning, fake props and bushes all ablaze around her. 

She honestly didn't even know if she was going to be safe from that blast she had only used her quirk a couple times in her life, and always against her will. But shes glad she's ok, as she stands her skin itches to high heaven she can't understand it, it's like something is under her skin, but it's always been this way. 

In a rush to get it to stop Nova pulls off the hood and mask of her suit to breathe and next are her gloves. She see it then, gone are her soft pale freckled knuckles, gone are the soft lines of her palms and fingertips.

Instead before her she watches as her skin glows, the color is an orangeish red in tone but looks ever changing. And as she really, truly looks at her hands she realizes it is changing or at least moving, the colors on her skin swirling and moving mashing together to create quite a beautiful color. 

Nova Kamiya- Quirk:  Thermal Absorption 

Thermal Absorption allows the user to absorb the thermal energy around them giving them a weird molten glow resembling flowing lava, the user can release the thermal energy in two ways by causing a great explosion or expelling it safely, through vomiting out the energy. 

Nova takes the small little tracking device from her pocket, the one that is attached to the emp bombs, and holds the tiny black screen to her face and she feel like she's going to vomit. Her face matches her hands in color making her head spin, she's seen small patches on her skin look like this before but never her entire body. 

Surving an explosion you thought you'd survive but didn't know if you survived and actually survived is wild man. 

Nova has always been aware of what her quirk was but how many times is the normal person exposed to that amount of heat. Finding out about her quirk also wasn't the most fun thing either it's something she refuses to talk about, even to Izuku. 

As she looks at the ground around her she realizes her bomb did a LOT more damage than what she was expecting. The walls on the buildings in a 50 foot radius were absolutely scorched black soot cloning to them like a ssecond skin. The road beneath her feet cracked and broke. all the way down the road, and robots piled everywhere. 

What she also hasn't realized was that her bomb had messed with the mobility circuit part of the 0 pointer robot, the one standing directly above her. She only realized when the loud squeaking of an off balance robot was heard from pretty much the entire arena. 

Nova tried to out run it, sprinting as fast as she could, but it wasn't fast enough, as she ran the robots shadow because darker and darker, larger and larger, right until it was right on top of her, and then it was lights out.

*Flashback*

Novas eyes slowly opened, eye crustee and leftover sleep making it hard to want to be awake "Mommy?" She calls rubbing her eyes softly.

She sits up and throws her blankets off holding onto her stuffed Endeavor doll and slowly made her way to the door. Putting her ear up to it she waits and listens.

When she doesn't here anything she opens the door. "Mommy?" She says louder hoping to get a response, she doesn't. 

She trudges on clutching her doll harder when her tummy rumbles, she went without dinner today because mommy said she had errands to run. 

That's ok she'll just have breakfast tomorrow 

As she paddles further into the house she hears low murmering and soft laughter coming from the living room. Making her way there she peaks her head around the corner and into the livingroom.

There she sees her mother practically sitting ontop of a man she doesn't recognize they both have Mommy's special glasses in their hands laughing and chatting away. 

"Mommy?" 

She should have just stayed in bed. 

The world stops as both adults heads snap towards her.

"Oh shit, you have a kid?" Inquires the mystery man 

When her mother head snapped to her she knew she was in for a world of hurt. Her mother's eyes blazed with anger fueled by the alcohol, her mother snears at her. 

"The hell do you want, you should be in bed." Her tone is matter of fact leaving no room for argument. Even if what she wanted wasn't to argue.

"I had a nightmare mommy I'm scared, can I come sleep with you?" Nightmares were frequent for Nova but unfortunately her mother never believed her. 

"This bullshit again, go to fucking bed now!" Her mother volume increased and if she didn't want to be struck she knew it was best to just do as she says. 

Trudging back to her room, she could hear the conversation between her mother and the random man, the walls were very thin. 

"Look this has been fun and all but I think I need to get going." 

"What no, please don't go I'm sorry I didn't tell you, it's just hard to find people who want to date people with kids I was going to tell you about her I promise I just needed time!". Her mother is begging, it makes her sad, all she wants is for her mommy to be happy. 

"Look I'm sorry I'm just not down for all of that I'm not looking for anything serious anyway so I don't think this is going to work out, see ya later thanks for dinner " 

Nova can hear the front door shut as she lays back into bed. Then she hears it her mothers loud and angry stomping heading straight for her 

Yup, should have just stayed in bed. 

Novas door bursts open, her mother stands before her huffing and practically growling like a feral beast. The look in her eyes scares her, it's never good when she drunk. 

"WHY CANT YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT!" her mother starts off screaming "YOU RUINED MY NIGHT, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!" 

As she stalks forward Nova can't help but pull the blankets up to her face "I'm sorry mommy I didn't mean too!" She crying she doesn't know it but she is. 

She doesn't like mean mommy. 

"THERE GOES ANOTHER MAN IN MY LIFE BECAUSE OF YOU, THANK YOU FOR CHASING AWAY EVERY MAN WHO HAS EVER CARED ABOUT ME!" Novas mother pulled the blankets off of her and yanked her out of bed by her hair.

She already knew what was coming even if the punishment hurt for only a second it still hurt none the less. Novas mother drags her to the laundry room where she plugs in the flat iron. 

Her quirk helped stop some of the pain due to her just absorbing the heat coming off of it, but thats why her mother did it over, and over, and over, and over again until Nova couldn't handle it anymore.

This time was no different, the feeling of the hot metal burning her skin, the terrible feeling of her pulling skin up from the iron, the insufferable itch that follows after.

She stood there and took the punishment like she was supposed to until her mother got tired of her, she threw her to the side with a quick wip of "Get your ass to bed." before unplugging the ironing board and heading to bed herself. 

Nova laid in bed as she itches and itches and itches, until finally she just crys herself to sleep.

*End of Flashback*

When she awoke it felt like she had been pumbled by thousands of bricks, hit by a truck, then thrown off a bridge. Here eyes hurt as she tries to adjust to the hard light above her. 

It hurt to move and she couldn't even if she wanted to. She let out a pained grunt as she tried to move her neck to check her surroundings, she must be in an infirmary of some sort. 

"Ah so your finally awake, that's good." 

Nova could only blink at the ceiling in response 

"You caused quite the stir with your little stunt there missy." 

Nova tried to speak but all that came out was choked sounds. 

"Don't try to talk or do well, pretty much anything, you were injured very very badly." 

A tiny old woman finally pops up into her field of vision "You have a lot of people talking about you young lady, you surprised a lot of people today." 

Nova only hums in response as the old woman takes the time to explain her quirk to her and then gets to business, Nova can't help but think about Izuku even if her throat felt like shit, even if it felt like shards of glass we're being pushed into her throat as she tried to talk, she pressed on"Izu-" she can't even finish his name before she starts to cough violently. Even if the old woman's treatment helped it still hurt a lot but as Nova lied there recovery girl, as she called herself, scolded her to being patient. 

After a minute or so Nova tried again this time with significantly better results. "Izuku?, My friend he-" 

She can't help but choke on her words still fighting the pressure in her throat.

"Do you mean the one with green unruly hair?" Nova nodded slightly "Once he learned you were here he refused to leave unfortunately due to security purposes he had to go home so he waiting back there for you." She pats Nova's knee in an attempt to comfort her.

"What happened?" Nova questioned and the patting on her leg stopped 

"You don't remember?" The old lady seems surprised, really surprised. 

Nova shakes her head, " Well," she starts looking somewhere she can't see and she begins to retell what happened.

Apparently after knocking the robot off kilter it had fallen on top of Nova but instead of being completely crushed, her quirk had released the pent up energy from the thermobaric bomb last minute saving her and completely decimating the head of the 0 point robot, even though she was slightly injured it wasn't too terrible, nothing recovery girl couldn't fix. 

As Nova lied on the table she could only hope that was enough to get herself into U.A., she just hopes Izuku help up his end of the bargain as well.

0 points Izuku had gotten 0 points, she knew this was the realistic outcome. She knew her quirkless bestfriend was way in over his head, but she figured he'd have at least something to show for all this training he's been doing. 

He knows it too he's been quite for the last week, ever since Nova got home from the infirmary he barely talked to her, no more than a "are you ok" "yes" "cool". Nova was kinda getting sick of his not caring about her well-being. For fucks sake she took the U.A. entrance exams without him knowing and he hasn't said a word about. 

It all came to ahead one night at dinner a week after the exams, Izukus mother had invited her over for dinner. Inko usually found an excuse to get to to come eat, made to much, Izukus not there and can't eat it, in reality inko knew Nova didn't eat much proper food sticking to convenience store ramen and junk, so she invited her whenever she could.

Izuku was zoning out staring at the fried fish inko had made for dinner, it was quite freaky. 

"Izuku?

"snap out of it!" 

"Izuku?"

Inko slightly raises her voice startling Izuku out of his stupor. "Why are you smiling at that fish, should we be worried hunny?" Nova doesn't bother to question him, in all honesty she just wants to get out of here it's a Friday night and all she wants to do is leave, it's not like Izuku would mind in this moment. It kinda makes her sad she always wants to be at the Midoryias but unfortunately for her she has plans. 

"Oh sorry, no I just spaced out for a minute!" Izuku excuse seems rather forced as he begins to shovel rice into his mouth 

"Mm-hm" inko response tensely.

Finishing dinner Nova gets up to help with the dishes as Inko goes to check the mail. The apartment is silent save for the sound of Izukus hand weights squeaking lightly. 

He sits on the couch just as zoned out as he was at dinner. She not stupid she knows what he's thinking about, it's been on her mind ever since then as well how can you blame her. But Izuku he got 0 points none, not a single one, how you may ask she will never know. 

What she does know is she has to deal with the fallout of her bestfriends dreams being crushed. Inko tries to help with her words of encouragement but they fall on deaf ears.  

The door behind her swings open with a slam causing her to drop a dish back into the sink.

"A letter, Izuku, they came, Izuku look, you got a letter, they're here you're rest results from U.A.!" Inko is all over the place crying and blubbering as she scrambles to give Izuku his results even though we all know what they are going to say. 

Izuku stands up stiffly and grabs the envelope from his mother, and all he does is stand there and stare. She understands it's hard to open something you already have the answer to. So she sets the last dish back into the sink and walks over to Izuku. 

Bumping her nose with his, he blinks and smiles "hey." He says softly "hi." Nova says in response before clearing her throat and continuing. " Whatever the results Izuku we all still love you, no matter what we are here for you, you're the bravest person I know, it'll be ok " Nova lightly scents Izuku, running her fingers through his hair earning her a pleased pur, before she asked if he wants to open his letter by himself or together. 

Opting to do it by himself he locks himself away in his room leaving Inko to pace the hall outside his door and Nova to sit by the shoe rack near the  apartment door. 

"He'll be ok Inko." For a moment she paused her fretting and smiles at Nova. "I know, I know, but he's my baby, I can't help but worry." And with that she goes back to burning a hole into the floor beneath her.

After about 10 minutes, the door to Izukus room slowly creeks open and there he stands. Inko immediately reaches for his face "Baby?" She questions softly, Nova holds her breath awaiting his answer. Much to her surprise Izuku emerges smiling and grinning like she hasn't seen in months. 

"I-um-i got in?" He says softly and more like a question like he can't quite believe it himself. 

Nova can't either how did her quirkless bestfriend get into U.A. with 0 points, and so she asks him. 

"I don't mean to rain on your parade Izuku but how did you pass?" 

Izuku smiles brighter, "I may have not gotten any villain points but when I was in the arena someone got stuck underneath some rubble created by the 0 point villain, and instead of running away I ran to her and pulled her out and it earned me a ton of rescue points allowing me to pass." He was sweating hand behind his head eyes averted from his mother, he's a terrible liar. 

How Inko hasn't caught on over the years she will never know but Izukus body language will almost always give his true nature away. She chooses not to say anything instead joins the group hug started by Inko "OH, MY BABY!" "MY BABY IS GOING TO U.A.!" Inko sings with excitement "Oh sweetheart I'm so proud of you!" 

The celebrations for Izuku last for another 30 minutes before Inkos conked out on the couch watching an all might series rerun, one of Izukus favorites. Some time passes by before Nova finally speaks. "I'm really proud of you Izuku, I just want you to know that, you proved a lot of people wrong today." He smiles at her eyes squinting slightly, "including you?" He teased playfully, she growls and nips at his ear causing his to laugh "maybe." Nova responded with a huff.

For the next hour Nova stay and bides her time waiting till she could get home, because if Izuku got his letter already so will Nova and she not taking the chances of her mother finding the letter before she does. So as she slides out from the Midoryia cuddle pile she leaves a quick note about going to open her own letter and seeing them later. 

Putting her shoes on and walking out the door she can't help but feel a sense of proud and joy, yes Izuku did prove Nova wrong and she couldn't be happier about it.

Chapter 4: Start Line

Omg 2 back to back who am I, I would like to apologize now I am not an experienced writer this is strictly just for my pleasure and idk how to write fight scenes lmao, they punched they kicked oh man it was wild, proofread but not you know the drill.-A

With the start of the exam Nova realizes she is way in over her head resorting in what she really didn't want to do, use her quirk. 

The hallowed grounds of U.A. the school with the best hero training course in the world, the place every kid wants to go. 

Sure, there are similar programs out there, but they don't hold a candle to U.A.'s, which is why it's almost impossible to get in. 

The schools alumni list is a "who's who" of idols All Might the most famous pro there is. The legendary peace keeper with the most wins under his belt the Fiery Hero Endeavor. Not to mention the denim-clad, award winning marvel, Best Jeanist. 

Graduating from U.A. is basically a requirement if you want to be a great hero. At least that's what Izuku has been preaching for the last 10 months. Talking about this hero graduated from U.A. and that person graduated from U.A. it was all he would talk about. 

But as Nova stands before the gigantic metal gates of the battle arena, staring up at the walls surrounding it she can see now what Izuku was talking about, with structures like these U.A. must have many sponsors to help set up this sort of thing because this would cost hundreds of thousands of yen to build. 

She's not the only one marveling there are many contestants who are also murmering in amazement. 

"It's like a whole city!" 

"Can you imagine how much it cost to build this?"

"U.A. is amazing!" 

As the students around her gawk and stare, Nova makes sure to open her backpack full of support items, she had no idea what she would be up against but she figured her bet was going to be packing pretty much everything she can build. 

Good thing she brought her tool belt. She packed it full with as much as she could, her emp bombs, her water diffusers, her taser, and her thermobaric bomb. She also packed a couple other simple things like a screwdriver, a pocketknife, and some grade a armoured heat protectant gloves, those will come in handy later. 

She also had her main weapon a staff of her own creation, she called this prototype A60M 1 she has another prototype similar to this one sitting at home she calls that one Ev3 2. A60M 1 or adam she likes to also call him, is a self made  bo staff thats essentially a miniature hydron electric pulse reactor, capable of disrupting electrical currents by essentially using its own electronic field to disrupt the signal reseptors of anything around it. It it's capable of many other things but that is Adams main base function. 

As she grabs what she needs and leaves what she doesn't, she gets back onto the shuttle bus to shove her bag back into her seat being jarred from her thoughts as she hears the loud blonde hero, who's name she learned on the ride here was Present Mic, begin to yell. 

"ALRIGHT, LETS START!"

"GET MOVING THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES!"

"RUN, RUN, RUN, LISTENERS!"

"YOU'RE WASTING YOUR AIRTIME HERE!" 

Nova can see through the dirty windows of the shuttle bus as the big metal gates of the battle area open in front of the candidates and said group rushes forward without a second thought. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit 

She was already off to a bad start as she flung her self of the bus she came crashing down to the ground with the thud barely giving herself time to adjust to being on the ground before she took off right after the other candidates. 

As she enters the arena, she can already hear the clashing of metal as other contestants begin to battle it out for a spot at the top. 

Nova doesn't want the top she just want to be able to get into U.A. she really didn't care about which class just a class. 

There are a still plenty of robots around her to get herself ahead. She begins by fishing out her water diffusers first, she needs to use the weak options first just to see if they would even work. Plus if the water diffusers themselves didn't do anything when the emp or the thermobaric bomb comes into contact it could fry the whole area something she also needs to be aware of 

Heaven forbid she accidentally hurt another contestant shed never forgive herself. She had to be cautious. 

In front of her there are two 1 point robots heading her way, it's now or never she deploys the water bombs onto the ground straight into their path. As soon as they roll over the bombs the robots will be encased with water. In the meantime she had to make sure the robots would stay on the same path. That's were Adam comes in, Adam has an extension feature one that makes him just long enough to hit the robots where it matters most.

30 feet the 25 then 15 then 10 then 5 and then, as soon as the bots roll over the bombs they explode. Water shooting up underneath them like a geyser, rattling the robots and setting them of center, using Adam like a bat Nova swings at the two robots hitting one of them in the side dragging it into the other as she uses her momentum to slam both robots into the building beside her. 

She watches as the robots crumple in on themselves as the red light in their eyes fades to balck. Even when not using her quirk it gives her some kind of strength to buff while still being dormant allowing her more strength than most, why she doesn't know it's just the way it works. 

It's good though the water bombs actually do work well against them good to know, and Adam? She retracts the staff back into its original form giving it a spin or two in her hands. Oh boy is she glad she made the staff durable. 

Moving on she rifles through the belt around her waste pulling out her next tool, the emp disrupters. Now Nova's devices have a little bit a a kick to them, as well as the disrupting electron waves that come from the device, each emp bomb as a built in sonar radar, set up that when deployed will launch a perimeter and ping onto a small device in Novas belt where other robots could possibly be hidden. 

Right after the two 1 hitters arrived, she would soon realize the sonar but in her emp bombs could've been scrapped, because she finds no shortage of robots in this battle arena. It seems like when she takes down 2, 4 more pop up in its place. It's almost never ending, water bomb afterwater bomb, emp after emp, she even had used her taser already. 

Although after shocking 4 robots in a row it seemed to have given out, forcing Nova to toss it aside. It wasn't really much anyway being hand made from a old washed up hospital defibrillator, some fishing magnets, and a sticky protective barrier on the handles for her hands, replacing the pads that had been most likely lost at sea. 

She was running out of water and emp bombs and she, with all her strength, can only swing for so long, it's time shes decided, for the thermobaric bomb. She needs a strategy she can't just got willy nilly throwing this bomb it could kill others and possibly herself, she needed to be careful.

Backing up a few paces she can see that she might not have the time for strategy, the robots keep multiplying as if there was no end to them. The only thing Nova could note was that there weren't other candidates close enough to be injured in the great explosion that was sure to follow. 

When she first started training and building her equipment for the exam she had no idea what she was going to need for this test she made a variety of lethal and non lethal bombs just to make sure she had more then one option in case some had to be left behind. 

The thermobaric bomb she had created was a one of a kind make, she was surprised to find most to all these ingredients along the beach, it's was also very concerning. The bomb was made from an old spray can container, it was the only small pressurized bottle she could find that could hold what she needed. The bomb itself was filled with, compressed CO2 from an old CO2 tank that also looks like it came from a hospital, pool chlorine from the store, and an thermite mixture she found from an old abandoned welding gun.

Much to her dismay with said parts being from the beach she has no idea if the bomb will even explode the way she needs it to. With her luck the second she lights it it's going to explode in her face, even though she thinks she'd be ok, she can't think about that now not when the robots are closing in on her. 

Then she pulls out her special gloves from the right side of her belt, the ones she grabbed from her duffle bag earlier, these gloves are ones she "bought" during her sketchy black market trip for her suit.Which she notes is working wonders, vet lightweight, breathable, stretchy against her bigger form, but shes not going to give a full review right now.

These gloves specifically are designed to withstand heat and fire up to 700 degrees fahrenheit, and just as a precaution she might have "borrowed" them from the store owner. That's what he gets for over charging her on the suit. As she pulls the bomb out of its protective pocket she hears a shrilling, screaming voice behind her. 

Great.

"HELP ME, PLEASE SOMEONE KILL THESE THINGS!"

"HELP ME, PLEASE I WANT MY MOMMY PLEASE!" 

The screaming scared her so much she nearly dropped the bomb giving herself a heart attack, as she caught it and brought it to her chest with a huff. With no time to think she has to roll out of the way trying to avoid being hit from the robots that are now right behind her. She had a plan a really really stupid plan, but it's the one she knows will work. 

She turns tail and runs, and as she ran she could feel it her quirk bubbling up from the depths of its hibernation, her skin begins to itch, it like it's anticipating somethings going to go wrong. 

She ran straight at the snotting, screaming, short little boy in front of her, if she didn't want him to get hurt this was her only option. The boy in front of her looked no taller than a toddler, he even had a makeshift diaper on as what looked to be a terribly made makeshift hero suit.

The hair that was supposed to be on his head were balls instead. At least that what they looked like, round and purple, odd, but she couldn't allow herself to wonder weather or not that was his quirk or just weirdly shaped hair, she had a job to do. 

"PLEASE SAVE ME, PLEASE PLEASE, ANYONE!" 

It takes but two seconds to scoop up the screaming candidate and run. She ran and ran as the candidate she carried blubbered and cried, what a hero he would be.  Not even 100 feet away from the robots she drops the candidate next to her and tells him to run for it. He takes no time and takes off screaming thanks and sorries as he cried the entire way back.

Turning around the gaggle of robots are now 50 feet away, and that when she hears it, a soft rumbling and squeaking of wheels, sounds she thought were coming from the obvious robots in front of her but no. The soft rumbling becomes louder and louder as the ground beneath her begins shake violently, knocking her off her feet and knocking the bomb right out her her hand.  Shit. Shit. Shit. It happens so fast as she falls to the ground she looks up and it's looming over her. The biggest robot she's seen in her life, the 0 pointer, it must be the one Present Mic was talking about, speaking of, it's massive bigger than what they had let on. 

"LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!" Said blonde screamed in warning.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. This can't be happening. She has no idea how many points is needed to get into U.A., she figured a lot and she was no where near the quota she had set for herself. She must have hit her head when she fell because her ears are ringing and her head is spinning.

The robots are now 20 feet away, as they keep crawling forward, she pats the ground around her looking for Adam and when she finds him the robots are 10 feet away.

The thermobaric bomb is 5 feet away she has no time to think, she was going to use Adam to scoop up the bomb and throw it into the pile of them but now it's to late. Nova tightens the cover of her hood and mask and curls into a ball on the road sheilding the uncovered parts of her face with her gloves. Surving an explosion you thought you'd survive but didn't know if you survived and actually survived is wild man. 

Nova has always been aware of what her quirk was but how many times is the normal person exposed to that amount of heat. Finding out about her quirk also wasn't the most fun thing either it's something she refuses to talk about, even to Izuku. 

As she looks at the ground around her she realizes her bomb did a LOT more damage than what she was expecting. The walls on the buildings in a 50 foot radius were absolutely scorched black soot cloning to them like a ssecond skin. The road beneath her feet cracked and broke. all the way down the road, and robots piled everywhere. 

What she also hasn't realized was that her bomb had messed with the mobility circuit part of the 0 pointer robot, the one standing directly above her. She only realized when the loud squeaking of an off balance robot was heard from pretty much the entire arena. 

Nova tried to out run it, sprinting as fast as she could, but it wasn't fast enough, as she ran the robots shadow because darker and darker, larger and larger, right until it was right on top of her, and then it was lights out.

*Flashback*

Novas eyes slowly opened, eye crustee and leftover sleep making it hard to want to be awake "Mommy?" She calls rubbing her eyes softly.

She sits up and throws her blankets off holding onto her stuffed Endeavor doll and slowly made her way to the door. Putting her ear up to it she waits and listens.

When she doesn't here anything she opens the door. "Mommy?" She says louder hoping to get a response, she doesn't. 

She trudges on clutching her doll harder when her tummy rumbles, she went without dinner today because mommy said she had errands to run. 

That's ok she'll just have breakfast tomorrow 

As she paddles further into the house she hears low murmering and soft laughter coming from the living room. Making her way there she peaks her head around the corner and into the livingroom.

There she sees her mother practically sitting ontop of a man she doesn't recognize they both have Mommy's special glasses in their hands laughing and chatting away. 

"Mommy?" 

She should have just stayed in bed. 

The world stops as both adults heads snap towards her.

"Oh shit, you have a kid?" Inquires the mystery man 

When her mother head snapped to her she knew she was in for a world of hurt. Her mother's eyes blazed with anger fueled by the alcohol, her mother snears at her. 

"The hell do you want, you should be in bed." Her tone is matter of fact leaving no room for argument. Even if what she wanted wasn't to argue.

"I had a nightmare mommy I'm scared, can I come sleep with you?" Nightmares were frequent for Nova but unfortunately her mother never believed her. 

"This bullshit again, go to fucking bed now!" Her mother volume increased and if she didn't want to be struck she knew it was best to just do as she says. 

Trudging back to her room, she could hear the conversation between her mother and the random man, the walls were very thin. 

"Look this has been fun and all but I think I need to get going." 

"What no, please don't go I'm sorry I didn't tell you, it's just hard to find people who want to date people with kids I was going to tell you about her I promise I just needed time!". Her mother is begging, it makes her sad, all she wants is for her mommy to be happy. 

"Look I'm sorry I'm just not down for all of that I'm not looking for anything serious anyway so I don't think this is going to work out, see ya later thanks for dinner " 

Nova can hear the front door shut as she lays back into bed. Then she hears it her mothers loud and angry stomping heading straight for her 

Yup, should have just stayed in bed. 

Novas door bursts open, her mother stands before her huffing and practically growling like a feral beast. The look in her eyes scares her, it's never good when she drunk. 

"WHY CANT YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT!" her mother starts off screaming "YOU RUINED MY NIGHT, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!" 

As she stalks forward Nova can't help but pull the blankets up to her face "I'm sorry mommy I didn't mean too!" She crying she doesn't know it but she is. 

She doesn't like mean mommy. 

"THERE GOES ANOTHER MAN IN MY LIFE BECAUSE OF YOU, THANK YOU FOR CHASING AWAY EVERY MAN WHO HAS EVER CARED ABOUT ME!" Novas mother pulled the blankets off of her and yanked her out of bed by her hair.

She already knew what was coming even if the punishment hurt for only a second it still hurt none the less. Novas mother drags her to the laundry room where she plugs in the flat iron. 

Her quirk helped stop some of the pain due to her just absorbing the heat coming off of it, but thats why her mother did it over, and over, and over, and over again until Nova couldn't handle it anymore.

This time was no different, the feeling of the hot metal burning her skin, the terrible feeling of her pulling skin up from the iron, the insufferable itch that follows after.

She stood there and took the punishment like she was supposed to until her mother got tired of her, she threw her to the side with a quick wip of "Get your ass to bed." before unplugging the ironing board and heading to bed herself. 

Nova laid in bed as she itches and itches and itches, until finally she just crys herself to sleep.

*End of Flashback*

When she awoke it felt like she had been pumbled by thousands of bricks, hit by a truck, then thrown off a bridge. Here eyes hurt as she tries to adjust to the hard light above her. 

It hurt to move and she couldn't even if she wanted to. She let out a pained grunt as she tried to move her neck to check her surroundings, she must be in an infirmary of some sort. 

"Ah so your finally awake, that's good." 

Nova could only blink at the ceiling in response 

"You caused quite the stir with your little stunt there missy." 

Nova tried to speak but all that came out was choked sounds. 

"Don't try to talk or do well, pretty much anything, you were injured very very badly." 

A tiny old woman finally pops up into her field of vision "You have a lot of people talking about you young lady, you surprised a lot of people today." 

Nova only hums in response as the old woman takes the time to explain her quirk to her and then gets to business, Nova can't help but think about Izuku even if her throat felt like shit, even if it felt like shards of glass we're being pushed into her throat as she tried to talk, she pressed on"Izu-" she can't even finish his name before she starts to cough violently. Even if the old woman's treatment helped it still hurt a lot but as Nova lied there recovery girl, as she called herself, scolded her to being patient. 

After a minute or so Nova tried again this time with significantly better results. "Izuku?, My friend he-" 

She can't help but choke on her words still fighting the pressure in her throat.

"Do you mean the one with green unruly hair?" Nova nodded slightly "Once he learned you were here he refused to leave unfortunately due to security purposes he had to go home so he waiting back there for you." She pats Nova's knee in an attempt to comfort her.

"What happened?" Nova questioned and the patting on her leg stopped 

"You don't remember?" The old lady seems surprised, really surprised. 

Nova shakes her head, " Well," she starts looking somewhere she can't see and she begins to retell what happened.

Apparently after knocking the robot off kilter it had fallen on top of Nova but instead of being completely crushed, her quirk had released the pent up energy from the thermobaric bomb last minute saving her and completely decimating the head of the 0 point robot, even though she was slightly injured it wasn't too terrible, nothing recovery girl couldn't fix. 

As Nova lied on the table she could only hope that was enough to get herself into U.A., she just hopes Izuku help up his end of the bargain as well.

0 points Izuku had gotten 0 points, she knew this was the realistic outcome. She knew her quirkless bestfriend was way in over his head, but she figured he'd have at least something to show for all this training he's been doing. 

He knows it too he's been quite for the last week, ever since Nova got home from the infirmary he barely talked to her, no more than a "are you ok" "yes" "cool". Nova was kinda getting sick of his not caring about her well-being. For fucks sake she took the U.A. entrance exams without him knowing and he hasn't said a word about. 

It all came to ahead one night at dinner a week after the exams, Izukus mother had invited her over for dinner. Inko usually found an excuse to get to to come eat, made to much, Izukus not there and can't eat it, in reality inko knew Nova didn't eat much proper food sticking to convenience store ramen and junk, so she invited her whenever she could.

Izuku was zoning out staring at the fried fish inko had made for dinner, it was quite freaky. 

"Izuku?

"snap out of it!" 

"Izuku?"

Inko slightly raises her voice startling Izuku out of his stupor. "Why are you smiling at that fish, should we be worried hunny?" Nova doesn't bother to question him, in all honesty she just wants to get out of here it's a Friday night and all she wants to do is leave, it's not like Izuku would mind in this moment. It kinda makes her sad she always wants to be at the Midoryias but unfortunately for her she has plans. 

"Oh sorry, no I just spaced out for a minute!" Izuku excuse seems rather forced as he begins to shovel rice into his mouth 

"Mm-hm" inko response tensely.

Finishing dinner Nova gets up to help with the dishes as Inko goes to check the mail. The apartment is silent save for the sound of Izukus hand weights squeaking lightly. 

He sits on the couch just as zoned out as he was at dinner. She not stupid she knows what he's thinking about, it's been on her mind ever since then as well how can you blame her. But Izuku he got 0 points none, not a single one, how you may ask she will never know. 

What she does know is she has to deal with the fallout of her bestfriends dreams being crushed. Inko tries to help with her words of encouragement but they fall on deaf ears.  

The door behind her swings open with a slam causing her to drop a dish back into the sink.

"A letter, Izuku, they came, Izuku look, you got a letter, they're here you're rest results from U.A.!" Inko is all over the place crying and blubbering as she scrambles to give Izuku his results even though we all know what they are going to say. 

Izuku stands up stiffly and grabs the envelope from his mother, and all he does is stand there and stare. She understands it's hard to open something you already have the answer to. So she sets the last dish back into the sink and walks over to Izuku. 

Bumping her nose with his, he blinks and smiles "hey." He says softly "hi." Nova says in response before clearing her throat and continuing. " Whatever the results Izuku we all still love you, no matter what we are here for you, you're the bravest person I know, it'll be ok " Nova lightly scents Izuku, running her fingers through his hair earning her a pleased pur, before she asked if he wants to open his letter by himself or together. 

Opting to do it by himself he locks himself away in his room leaving Inko to pace the hall outside his door and Nova to sit by the shoe rack near the  apartment door. 

"He'll be ok Inko." For a moment she paused her fretting and smiles at Nova. "I know, I know, but he's my baby, I can't help but worry." And with that she goes back to burning a hole into the floor beneath her.

After about 10 minutes, the door to Izukus room slowly creeks open and there he stands. Inko immediately reaches for his face "Baby?" She questions softly, Nova holds her breath awaiting his answer. Much to her surprise Izuku emerges smiling and grinning like she hasn't seen in months. 

"I-um-i got in?" He says softly and more like a question like he can't quite believe it himself. 

Nova can't either how did her quirkless bestfriend get into U.A. with 0 points, and so she asks him. 

"I don't mean to rain on your parade Izuku but how did you pass?" 

Izuku smiles brighter, "I may have not gotten any villain points but when I was in the arena someone got stuck underneath some rubble created by the 0 point villain, and instead of running away I ran to her and pulled her out and it earned me a ton of rescue points allowing me to pass." He was sweating hand behind his head eyes averted from his mother, he's a terrible liar. 

How Inko hasn't caught on over the years she will never know but Izukus body language will almost always give his true nature away. She chooses not to say anything instead joins the group hug started by Inko "OH, MY BABY!" "MY BABY IS GOING TO U.A.!" Inko sings with excitement "Oh sweetheart I'm so proud of you!" 

The celebrations for Izuku last for another 30 minutes before Inkos conked out on the couch watching an all might series rerun, one of Izukus favorites. Some time passes by before Nova finally speaks. "I'm really proud of you Izuku, I just want you to know that, you proved a lot of people wrong today." He smiles at her eyes squinting slightly, "including you?" He teased playfully, she growls and nips at his ear causing his to laugh "maybe." Nova responded with a huff.

For the next hour Nova stay and bides her time waiting till she could get home, because if Izuku got his letter already so will Nova and she not taking the chances of her mother finding the letter before she does. So as she slides out from the Midoryia cuddle pile she leaves a quick note about going to open her own letter and seeing them later. 

Putting her shoes on and walking out the door she can't help but feel a sense of proud and joy, yes Izuku did prove Nova wrong and she couldn't be happier about it.

Chapter 3: Roaring Muscles

"Izukus been acting weird since the attack, determined now more than ever, Izuku pushes forward on his path to becoming a hero with Nova trailing behind she can't help wondering if he really has what it takes to become one."

LMAO hello I'm back I did say I might update lol never thought I would but I got angry the other day and just sat for 2 hours rewriting the 3rd episode hope you enjoy, proofread but also not- A

All might age unknown quirk unidentified, he broke onto the hero scene and was an immediate hit thanks to his abilities. 

Ever since he appeared, crime rates have drastically decreased. His very existence, a deterrent for many would be villains. 

The world's a safer place. 

They don't just call him the symbol of piece it's what he is. Thats why Nova and Izuku admired him so much.

He stood for peace and justice he fought for everyone especially for the little guy who couldn't win a fight for themselves (I.E. her and Izuku)

Despite Nova having a unique quirk, it wasn't very combat friendly. 

Her mother called it an abomination, the doctors called it a quirk mutation, her teachers look at her with pity, the kids at school call her a freak, it doesn't matter though. 

The only opinion she's ever cared about is Izukus, as long as Izuku thinks shes cool she'll be ok. She'd been thinking about the green haired boy a lot recently. Especially with the most recent events. 

Izuku has been acting really weird ever since they parted that day after the attack.

For one he won't shut up about trying to get into U.A. now more than ever, claiming he's going to be the first quirkless person to get into U.A. 

Oh the dreams that boy has.

Second He's been "studying" a lot recently, skipping out on plans, making excuses and if she wasn't so secure about their friendship, she would have thought he was trying to pull away trying to end their friendship without actually saying something to her.

Thought she will admit it did kinda hurt her feelings. 

But this is Izuku were talking about, the boy next door, her best friend, her partner in crime, two peas in a pod they were, she's known him since she was 3 years old, he'd never do something so cruel....and yet his actions say other wise and she has a sneaking suspicion he's trying to leave her behind. 

He's been muttering a lot recently a nervous tic of his, but it's been worse as of late, in school it's nonstop he's scribbling away in his notebook barely paying attention to the teacher, causing him to be scolded more than once. On the rare occasion she can get him to hangout it's like he's not even there. Head stuck in the notebook caring about nothing else other than whatever he's writing about, she tried to take a peak once and Izuku abruptly ended the hangout and stormed away. 

Another change she noticed, was Izukus school uniform.

A slight change no one else would have noticed but her, the threading color for the seams on his uniform are different. When it came to the schools uniforms policy they dont have tags on the neckline like most clothing but had color coded seams to tell apart the sizes. 

The removal of tags was a move made by the school committee,  claiming the tags would distract students, i.e. scratching it, pulling it, ripping it, cutting it. So the color system was implemented.

Small uniforms have black seams, mediums had white, larges had blue seams, and extra larges had red. 

Izukus had changed from white seams to blue seams.

Going up in size might be normal for anybody else, but if anybody knew Izuku the way she did, there is no way he could be going UP a size in any circumstance....except one. 

This went on for months small changes here and there excuse after excuse of not having the time or his mom needing his help she had finally had enough and the uniform change was her last piece of evidence. 

Although it did take her 3 days to realize the color change on his uniform it was much quicker than Izuku was anticipating,  and the confrontation for it also came much quicker, when he was confronted by Nova one Wednesday morning during their walk to school. 

"Tell me the truth." Nova inquires abruptly, stoping in the middle of the sidewalk prompting Izuku to stop as well. 

Izuku is already sweating. "About what?"

She takes a brief pause she has many questions for him like,

"What have you been doing these past couple months?"

"Why are you ignoring me"

"Do you hate me?"

"Did I do something?"

"Why did the size of your uniform change?"

"Whats been going through your head?" 

"Are you ok?" 

"Are we ok?

But she's not stupid, deep down she knows exactly what he is up to, she's just to scared to hear an answer to a future she refuses to see. So she swallows the lump in her throat and presses on.

"You're training for the U.A entrance exams.....aren't you?" The silence that follows her question is loud, many thoughts race through Novas head, 

"Is he crazy He's going to get himself killed!"

"I love him to death but this dream if going to get him killed one day!" 

"What do I do?"

"How can I stop this....."

"Do I stop this?"

"What's going to happen to him is he fails" 

...

"What if I don't need to stop this?"

This thought catches her attention and she stops and focuses on it for just a moment.........maybe, just maybe.

"Nova.....I- I!"

Izukus soft voice and chirps brings her back to reality. "Answer me please." Nova softly pleads. Izukus sent turns slightly sour. "Look - I - Its - Nova you don't understand I - I can do this, I know I can do this, you just have to wait and see, I promise it will all make sense in the end, you just have to trust me!" 

Izukus exasperated and breathless. Nova can see tears start to well into his pretty green eyes, his lip starts to wobble, his sent spreading and molding itself around her like and uncomfortable aura as he continues.

"Please Nova, No one else believes in me, but I CAN do this I know I can, please believe me Nova, just- just give me a chance." 

Nova doesn't know what to say so she does the only she she does know, she pulls him into a hug. Izuku hugs her back and lodges his fingers into her biceps holding on for dear life as he tries to reign in his emotions, they are still in public after all. 

"Shhh shhhhh don't cry zuku it's ok, I believe in you of course I believe in you, if any quirkless person is going to get into U.A. It's going to be you Izuku." 

She knows her words are empty but they seem to work as Izuku starts to calm down. 

"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner I just......I know how you feel about me becoming a hero." A brief silence falls between them.

"I know," she says looking anywhere but at Izuku. "But I'll support you no matter what because I care about you and this is something you care about deeply, next time just don't shut me out ok I can't stand it."

Izuku smiles and nods slowly "Ok I promise I'll try harder to do better but Nova......"

Izukus teary eyes turn to ones of determination, "One day I promise I'll be strong enough you won't have to worry about me anymore."  Izukus voice is calm and steady nothing like the way he was 5 seconds ago "I'll get so strong that one day it'll be me worrying over you, and that's a promise!" 

The fingers that have been stuck into the sides of Novas biceps release and slide down her arms to her hands encasing them in his own, Izuku tilts his head into her neck slightly nosing at Novas scent glands trying to calm her and himself down. 

Izuku pulls back and rests his forehead on Novas.   "I have to work harder, or I won't stand a chance against the other applicants. I don't just want to go to U.A., I want to excel Nov, I want to be just like All Might, I want to be the greatest hero in the world. So I'm going to keep on trying, until I've got what it takes to do that!" 

There's a beat of silence before Izuku pulls away looking more determined now than ever. 

"Just promise me you'll be ok, that you'll be safe and do this all the right way?"   Izukus eyes widen at her question "Of course I promise you can count on me Nova!" Izukus eyes are bright with excitement shining with thousands of possibilities. "Alright alright we need to get going or we're going to be in more trouble than we already are." 

Izuku gasps, oh yeah school "OMG, school. We have to go NOW!" Izuku snatches her hand and they take off towards school with Izuku leading the way leaving Nova to her thoughts. 

Maybe she can help him....maybe she can't train Izuku herself but maybe....she could get into U.A with him that is if he makes it? Crazy idea I know, she doesn't really want to be a hero, but she needs to find a way to protect Izuku, and if becoming a pro hero is her only option....then she'll do whatever is required.....so if Izuku is going to take the U.A. entrance exams so will she.

4 more months passed after the talk she had with Izuku and while he didn't really let her in on how he was training she definitely got to see the fruits of his labor. 

In just ten months gone was the skinny arms that used to hold Nova when she was sad and tired, are now replaced with thick muscular arms that hold her just the same but better? Gone are his string bean legs and small thighs also replaced with what seems to be pure muscle and absolute perfection. 

His entire body now looks like it was sculpted by a greek god, not a toddler just learning how to draw people. His abs have been one thing Nova has REALLY been enjoying though she would NEVER tell Izuku such a thing, but she couldn't stop staring.

How on earth did her soft tiny little shy friend become a beefcake overnight she will never know but she thanks whatever gods out there that made such a thing happen.

(Everyone say thank you All Might!!!) 

Thought to Izuku he wasn't the only one who changed, without Izukus knowledge Nova has also been training for the last 4 and a half months for the entrance exams. Her body also reflecting that sentiment.

Even though Nova is on the bigger side she absolutely loves her curves, not the typical curves society loves to sexualize but HER curves, her belly, her sides, her back and her thighs are all parts of her body that roll and fold in on itself and she loves it. She loves the softness it brings and she loves the authenticity of just being herself. 

So when she lost some weight due to training she was a little sad but she'd trade her rolls for muscles anyday if it meant protecting Izuku. Even if she didn't have as long to train as Izuku did, it didn't meant she didn't train hard. Some days even passing out in the backyard, only to be yelled at by her mother for "inviting evil into the home" she left Nova alone when she told her it was for "exercise" and she seemed to believe it for a time. Even if Nova loved her body many others did not including her mother, who would make multiple comments about how big she was asking her daily about her food intake. 

When Novas mother would antagonize her about the "exercises" enough Nova would switch to her computer and sketch books in the comfort of her room with her cat Holly sitting on the edge of her bed as if keeping guard. Nova may not like school but that doesn't mean she doesn't like to learn.... She just doesn't like to learn things that are...boring.

When Nova wasn't training she would study online articles about quirk mutations and anything that pertains it, as well as whatever curriculum she was going to need for the writing portion of the exam, much to her digression.

Recently she's been looking at skematics of certain support items that have been used over the years for heros with quirks similar to hers. Although they are proving to not be very useful. 

Novas quirk wasn't unheard of but it was very very rare the last person recorded to have a quirk similar to hers was 93 years ago, and a dead persons not much help, but there records kinda are. Something Nova doesn't let on in school is that despite what her grades say, Nova is actually extremely smart. 

Novas logic is if everyone around you knows your knowledge they will mouch and steal and take advantage of whatever they can however they can. You let a classmate know you understand the assignment now you have 7 rodent children asking for help with homework. Let a teacher know your smart and your done for, goodbye freedom hello hellish 9-5. 

Although when Nova wants too she'll use her wits to her advantage. Like building said support items she's been looking at for the past half hour, she may not be a master builder by any means but her inventions work.....most of the tiem. The tools and materials she calls art her mother calls trash and technically it is trash.

All the support items and sculptures Nova makes are all materials from a beach nearby, people have been using the sea around it as a dumping ground to illegally dump there trash for years, so many odd things have wound up on the beach. It's a great source for materials. 

That was until someone finally decided to come and clean all of it up, day by day as Nova tried to build her supports her material piles she keep making kept disappearing she ended up loosing a really good pulse module from and old plasma tv that really offset her mood for the week. Oddly enough she also never saw the crew who came and cleaned it out.

You would think with the amount of trash here, there would be rows of large garbage containers waiting to be filled and dozens of workers and machines fluttering about to get it all done in in timely manner, but nope there was hide nor hare of any of those materials.

So when she came back one evening and the entire beach was nearly clean she went and raided whatever she could and cut her loses hoping now to find a new spot to get her junk from. 

When the day finally came and it was time for the entrance exams Nova packed up a back full of supplies one full of items the other a duffle bag stuffed a special outfit specifically for the entrance exams. That morning Nova tried to call Izuku to at least wish him good luck but to no avail.

So with her heart in her stomach and her confidence on the floor, she opened the door and set out to take the U.A. entrance exams, pass or fail she will protect Izuku.

Nova knows she can't show up at the same time Izuku does so she's planned her entire routine around him. 

Step 1. Arrive before Izuku 

Nova knows Izuku is going to show up early so she has to be there earlier in case she needs to avoid being spotted, easier to move away if you can see someone coming into a room and not her coming into a room with someone who could spot her first. 

Step 2. Change into special outfit 

The special outfit Nova changed into resembled a wetsuit in everyway but had the material feeling of a T-shirt. This special outfit she actually found in a black market department store on the sketchy north side of town, it was made of a special unrippable material meant to stretch and accommodate a lot of different quirks......when she said she would do anything to protect Izuku she meant it. The suit was all black with a flip up hood and mask that slides over the face that has built in filters in case of airborne poisons. 

The hood is lined with a special sticky material that helps hide hair back very well leaving no chance for it to slip into her face distracting her making her identifiable, Nova also recognizes that Izuku isn't the only one that could know her and if anyone knew she was there they could tell Izuku then he would be worried the entire time and wouldn't perform his best and that was not what she needed. 

So she has the face mask and the hood for now until she's in the clear. 

Step 3. Actually take the exam

Fuck. 

As Nova earns her card number and exam information card the lady handing her, her cards politely asked her to remove her mask and hood in order to prove her ID was valid. Slowly she looks around first, then she pulls off the hood and the attendant smiles at her "Okie Dokie sweetheart just go ahead and sit wherever the assembly will begin shortly!" 

Nova finds a seat quickly in the very far right corner, recovering her face once more and checking her surroundings to see if anyone had recognized her. After deeming herself in the clear she just sat and waited as the seats around her filled up. 

Nova was watching for Izuku like a hawk for at least 5 minutes never even noticing the angry sent of a very angry alpha one smelling of burnt Carmel and rubber completely being blindsided by the hand that's slammed onto her shoulder. It makes her still and she hears the last voice she ever wanted to hear "The hell are you doing here princess, need a prince that badly you came to scope out your options?" Bakugou snorts with distain. "That cheap ass costume ain't fooling fucking nobody!" Bakugou's volume begins to rise as he swats at the back of her head, Nova refuses to look at him "You both think your so tough, just can't wait till to see your obituarys on the news and see just how pathetic you really are!" Bakugou shoves himself of her shoulder and storms off.

Nova finally turned only to watch him go stomping away as the arenas lights finally dim and some spotlights pop onto the front stage. 

How on earth did he know It was her? 

A loud booming voice comes from the speakers behind her making her jump. 

"What's up, U.A. candidates? Thanks for tuning into me, your school DJ."  Taking a pause the loud blonde man spreads his arms out and says,

"C'mon, an let me hear ya!" Clearly expecting a reaction from the crowd. And when none comes, the man blinks once then twice then moves on. 

"Keeping it mellow, huh? That's fine, I'll skip straight into the main show, let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay?" The loud blonde is taking in different octives still trying to get a reaction from the crowd as he screams again.

"ARE YOU READY? YEAH! Raising his hand in the air with a big smile on his face only to be met with silence once more. 

All of a sudden Nova hears a familiar voice and familiar mummering. Looking down 3 or so rows there is Izuku muttering away and most likely fangirling over the hero he no doubt knows. 

Finally finding Izuku Nova can relax a little and actually pay attention to the man explaining the exam. 

"Like your application said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in super-hip urban settings. "

"Gird your loins, my friends after I drop the mic here you'll head to your specified battle center sounds good?" 

Shit so if that's the case....she won't even be able to watch over Izuku. But she guesses it makes the most sense if you come from the same school you might be friends and could possibly help one other out....just like she was planning....shit, the only thing she can do now is do well in her written and mock tests and hope Izuku does the same, how he's going to pull off the mock battle she has no idea, but she has faith in him and in his abilities to know his limits and boundaries.

"Ok Ok!! " The blonde man yells gaining back the crowds attention. "Let's check out your targets, there are three types of faux villains in every battle center."

"You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty, so better choose wisely!"

"Your goal in this trial is to use your quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a mid-song guitar solo, but CHECK IT!"  The blonde man yells and points out into the crowd 

"Make sure your keeping things heroic, attacking other examinees is a U.A. no-no, ya dig?"

...who even is this guy? 

3 rows down from Izuku all of a sudden comes a deep voice questioning the hero in front of them, it makes goosebumps appear on Novas skin.

"Excuse me, sir but I have a question?" 

""Hit me!" Says the hero and a stagelight comes beaming down on a young man, giving Nova a better view of the person the voice belonged to. The light illuminated a young man with prim and proper styles blue hair and deep red eyes (manga iida Supremacy) who is wearing a finally talored cream colored suit holding the exam information cards as he points to it. 

"On the printout you've listed 4 types of villains. Not three, with all respect, if this is an error on official U.A. Materials it is shameful. We are exemplary students, we expect the best from Japan most notable school, a mistake such as this won't do."

Damn what an uptight prick. As soon as the thought crosses her mind the man in the cream colored suit spins around and points at none other than Izuku and he continues his uptight rant. 

"Additionally, you with the unkempt hair, you've been muttering this entire time, stop that, if you can't bother to take this seriously, leave. Your distracting the rest of us." 

As soon as the words fall from his lips all Nova wants to do it tear his throat out how dare he, he's nervous he can't help it don't blame him, mind your own business you uptight selfish fucki-

"Alright alright number examinee number 7-1-1-, thanks for calling in with your request." As the loud man speaks a giant looking villain appears on the giant projection screen behind him. "The fourth villain type is worth zero points, that guys just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way. There's one in every battle center, think of it as a hurdle to avoid. It's not that it can't be beaten but there's kinda no point." 

The blonde man turns around again with much more enthusiasm and throws his hand into the air once again "I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus on the one toppin' the charts." 

The man in the suit finally thanks the hero for his answer and sits back down, what an ass. 

"That's all I got for you today, I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto, as General Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down 'A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes.'. Mm-hm, now that's a tasty soundbite."

"You ready to go beyond? Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" For a third and final time the blonde loud man is met with silence huffing slightly he yells "Good Luck, hope you practiced hitting more than just books!" Before walking off stage with a small shake of his head.

They dismissed the candidates by battle centers A, then B, then C, and so forth Nova was put into battle center F so she had to wait some time till she was allowed to walk to the battle grounds. Nova was a ball of nerves.

What the hell was she doing was she really doing this. God why did she do this how could she put herself through this. Nova isn't regreting her choice she just realizing how stupid and crazy this idea really is but it's far to late to back out now and as they load her onto a shuttle bus to take them to the battle grounds Nova can't help but think of Izuku. Because that's who she's really doing this for to make sure he has a real future and to make sure the fallout isn't so bad if he fails. 

She believes in Izuku she knows he will do great win or lose, and as she stands at the gigantic gate of the exams battle field she just hopes she can be great too.

Chapter 3: Roaring Muscles

"Izukus been acting weird since the attack, determined now more than ever, Izuku pushes forward on his path to becoming a hero with Nova trailing behind she can't help wondering if he really has what it takes to become one."

LMAO hello I'm back I did say I might update lol never thought I would but I got angry the other day and just sat for 2 hours rewriting the 3rd episode hope you enjoy, proofread but also not- A

All might age unknown quirk unidentified, he broke onto the hero scene and was an immediate hit thanks to his abilities. 

Ever since he appeared, crime rates have drastically decreased. His very existence, a deterrent for many would be villains. 

The world's a safer place. 

They don't just call him the symbol of piece it's what he is. Thats why Nova and Izuku admired him so much.

He stood for peace and justice he fought for everyone especially for the little guy who couldn't win a fight for themselves (I.E. her and Izuku)

Despite Nova having a unique quirk, it wasn't very combat friendly. 

Her mother called it an abomination, the doctors called it a quirk mutation, her teachers look at her with pity, the kids at school call her a freak, it doesn't matter though. 

The only opinion she's ever cared about is Izukus, as long as Izuku thinks shes cool she'll be ok. She'd been thinking about the green haired boy a lot recently. Especially with the most recent events. 

Izuku has been acting really weird ever since they parted that day after the attack.

For one he won't shut up about trying to get into U.A. now more than ever, claiming he's going to be the first quirkless person to get into U.A. 

Oh the dreams that boy has.

Second He's been "studying" a lot recently, skipping out on plans, making excuses and if she wasn't so secure about their friendship, she would have thought he was trying to pull away trying to end their friendship without actually saying something to her.

Thought she will admit it did kinda hurt her feelings. 

But this is Izuku were talking about, the boy next door, her best friend, her partner in crime, two peas in a pod they were, she's known him since she was 3 years old, he'd never do something so cruel....and yet his actions say other wise and she has a sneaking suspicion he's trying to leave her behind. 

He's been muttering a lot recently a nervous tic of his, but it's been worse as of late, in school it's nonstop he's scribbling away in his notebook barely paying attention to the teacher, causing him to be scolded more than once. On the rare occasion she can get him to hangout it's like he's not even there. Head stuck in the notebook caring about nothing else other than whatever he's writing about, she tried to take a peak once and Izuku abruptly ended the hangout and stormed away. 

Another change she noticed, was Izukus school uniform.

A slight change no one else would have noticed but her, the threading color for the seams on his uniform are different. When it came to the schools uniforms policy they dont have tags on the neckline like most clothing but had color coded seams to tell apart the sizes. 

The removal of tags was a move made by the school committee,  claiming the tags would distract students, i.e. scratching it, pulling it, ripping it, cutting it. So the color system was implemented.

Small uniforms have black seams, mediums had white, larges had blue seams, and extra larges had red. 

Izukus had changed from white seams to blue seams.

Going up in size might be normal for anybody else, but if anybody knew Izuku the way she did, there is no way he could be going UP a size in any circumstance....except one. 

This went on for months small changes here and there excuse after excuse of not having the time or his mom needing his help she had finally had enough and the uniform change was her last piece of evidence. 

Although it did take her 3 days to realize the color change on his uniform it was much quicker than Izuku was anticipating,  and the confrontation for it also came much quicker, when he was confronted by Nova one Wednesday morning during their walk to school. 

"Tell me the truth." Nova inquires abruptly, stoping in the middle of the sidewalk prompting Izuku to stop as well. 

Izuku is already sweating. "About what?"

She takes a brief pause she has many questions for him like,

"What have you been doing these past couple months?"

"Why are you ignoring me"

"Do you hate me?"

"Did I do something?"

"Why did the size of your uniform change?"

"Whats been going through your head?" 

"Are you ok?" 

"Are we ok?

But she's not stupid, deep down she knows exactly what he is up to, she's just to scared to hear an answer to a future she refuses to see. So she swallows the lump in her throat and presses on.

"You're training for the U.A entrance exams.....aren't you?" The silence that follows her question is loud, many thoughts race through Novas head, 

"Is he crazy He's going to get himself killed!"

"I love him to death but this dream if going to get him killed one day!" 

"What do I do?"

"How can I stop this....."

"Do I stop this?"

"What's going to happen to him is he fails" 

...

"What if I don't need to stop this?"

This thought catches her attention and she stops and focuses on it for just a moment.........maybe, just maybe.

"Nova.....I- I!"

Izukus soft voice and chirps brings her back to reality. "Answer me please." Nova softly pleads. Izukus sent turns slightly sour. "Look - I - Its - Nova you don't understand I - I can do this, I know I can do this, you just have to wait and see, I promise it will all make sense in the end, you just have to trust me!" 

Izukus exasperated and breathless. Nova can see tears start to well into his pretty green eyes, his lip starts to wobble, his sent spreading and molding itself around her like and uncomfortable aura as he continues.

"Please Nova, No one else believes in me, but I CAN do this I know I can, please believe me Nova, just- just give me a chance." 

Nova doesn't know what to say so she does the only she she does know, she pulls him into a hug. Izuku hugs her back and lodges his fingers into her biceps holding on for dear life as he tries to reign in his emotions, they are still in public after all. 

"Shhh shhhhh don't cry zuku it's ok, I believe in you of course I believe in you, if any quirkless person is going to get into U.A. It's going to be you Izuku." 

She knows her words are empty but they seem to work as Izuku starts to calm down. 

"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner I just......I know how you feel about me becoming a hero." A brief silence falls between them.

"I know," she says looking anywhere but at Izuku. "But I'll support you no matter what because I care about you and this is something you care about deeply, next time just don't shut me out ok I can't stand it."

Izuku smiles and nods slowly "Ok I promise I'll try harder to do better but Nova......"

Izukus teary eyes turn to ones of determination, "One day I promise I'll be strong enough you won't have to worry about me anymore."  Izukus voice is calm and steady nothing like the way he was 5 seconds ago "I'll get so strong that one day it'll be me worrying over you, and that's a promise!" 

The fingers that have been stuck into the sides of Novas biceps release and slide down her arms to her hands encasing them in his own, Izuku tilts his head into her neck slightly nosing at Novas scent glands trying to calm her and himself down. 

Izuku pulls back and rests his forehead on Novas.   "I have to work harder, or I won't stand a chance against the other applicants. I don't just want to go to U.A., I want to excel Nov, I want to be just like All Might, I want to be the greatest hero in the world. So I'm going to keep on trying, until I've got what it takes to do that!" 

There's a beat of silence before Izuku pulls away looking more determined now than ever. 

"Just promise me you'll be ok, that you'll be safe and do this all the right way?"   Izukus eyes widen at her question "Of course I promise you can count on me Nova!" Izukus eyes are bright with excitement shining with thousands of possibilities. "Alright alright we need to get going or we're going to be in more trouble than we already are." 

Izuku gasps, oh yeah school "OMG, school. We have to go NOW!" Izuku snatches her hand and they take off towards school with Izuku leading the way leaving Nova to her thoughts. 

Maybe she can help him....maybe she can't train Izuku herself but maybe....she could get into U.A with him that is if he makes it? Crazy idea I know, she doesn't really want to be a hero, but she needs to find a way to protect Izuku, and if becoming a pro hero is her only option....then she'll do whatever is required.....so if Izuku is going to take the U.A. entrance exams so will she.

4 more months passed after the talk she had with Izuku and while he didn't really let her in on how he was training she definitely got to see the fruits of his labor. 

In just ten months gone was the skinny arms that used to hold Nova when she was sad and tired, are now replaced with thick muscular arms that hold her just the same but better? Gone are his string bean legs and small thighs also replaced with what seems to be pure muscle and absolute perfection. 

His entire body now looks like it was sculpted by a greek god, not a toddler just learning how to draw people. His abs have been one thing Nova has REALLY been enjoying though she would NEVER tell Izuku such a thing, but she couldn't stop staring.

How on earth did her soft tiny little shy friend become a beefcake overnight she will never know but she thanks whatever gods out there that made such a thing happen.

Thought to Izuku he wasn't the only one who changed, without Izukus knowledge Nova has also been training for the last 4 and a half months for the entrance exams. Her body also reflecting that sentiment.

Even though Nova is on the bigger side she absolutely loves her curves, not the typical curves society loves to sexualize but HER curves, her belly, her sides, her back and her thighs are all parts of her body that roll and fold in on itself and she loves it. She loves the softness it brings and she loves the authenticity of just being herself. 

So when she lost some weight due to training she was a little sad but she'd trade her rolls for muscles anyday if it meant protecting Izuku. Even if she didn't have as long to train as Izuku did, it didn't meant she didn't train hard. Some days even passing out in the backyard, only to be yelled at by her mother for "inviting evil into the home" she left Nova alone when she told her it was for "exercise" and she seemed to believe it for a time. Even if Nova loved her body many others did not including her mother, who would make multiple comments about how big she was asking her daily about her food intake. 

When Novas mother would antagonize her about the "exercises" enough Nova would switch to her computer and sketch books in the comfort of her room with her cat Holly sitting on the edge of her bed as if keeping guard. Nova may not like school but that doesn't mean she doesn't like to learn.... She just doesn't like to learn things that are...boring.

When Nova wasn't training she would study online articles about quirk mutations and anything that pertains it, as well as whatever curriculum she was going to need for the writing portion of the exam, much to her digression.

Recently she's been looking at skematics of certain support items that have been used over the years for heros with quirks similar to hers. Although they are proving to not be very useful. 

Novas quirk wasn't unheard of but it was very very rare the last person recorded to have a quirk similar to hers was 93 years ago, and a dead persons not much help, but there records kinda are. Something Nova doesn't let on in school is that despite what her grades say, Nova is actually extremely smart. 

Novas logic is if everyone around you knows your knowledge they will mouch and steal and take advantage of whatever they can however they can. You let a classmate know you understand the assignment now you have 7 rodent children asking for help with homework. Let a teacher know your smart and your done for, goodbye freedom hello hellish 9-5. 

Although when Nova wants too she'll use her wits to her advantage. Like building said support items she's been looking at for the past half hour, she may not be a master builder by any means but her inventions work.....most of the tiem. The tools and materials she calls art her mother calls trash and technically it is trash.

All the support items and sculptures Nova makes are all materials from a beach nearby, people have been using the sea around it as a dumping ground to illegally dump there trash for years, so many odd things have wound up on the beach. It's a great source for materials. 

That was until someone finally decided to come and clean all of it up, day by day as Nova tried to build her supports her material piles she keep making kept disappearing she ended up loosing a really good pulse module from and old plasma tv that really offset her mood for the week. Oddly enough she also never saw the crew who came and cleaned it out.

You would think with the amount of trash here, there would be rows of large garbage containers waiting to be filled and dozens of workers and machines fluttering about to get it all done in in timely manner, but nope there was hide nor hare of any of those materials.

So when she came back one evening and the entire beach was nearly clean she went and raided whatever she could and cut her loses hoping now to find a new spot to get her junk from. 

When the day finally came and it was time for the entrance exams Nova packed up a back full of supplies one full of items the other a duffle bag stuffed a special outfit specifically for the entrance exams. That morning Nova tried to call Izuku to at least wish him good luck but to no avail.

So with her heart in her stomach and her confidence on the floor, she opened the door and set out to take the U.A. entrance exams, pass or fail she will protect Izuku.

Nova knows she can't show up at the same time Izuku does so she's planned her entire routine around him. 

Step 1. Arrive before Izuku 

Nova knows Izuku is going to show up early so she has to be there earlier in case she needs to avoid being spotted, easier to move away if you can see someone coming into a room and not her coming into a room with someone who could spot her first. 

Step 2. Change into special outfit 

The special outfit Nova changed into resembled a wetsuit in everyway but had the material feeling of a T-shirt. This special outfit she actually found in a black market department store on the sketchy north side of town, it was made of a special unrippable material meant to stretch and accommodate a lot of different quirks......when she said she would do anything to protect Izuku she meant it. The suit was all black with a flip up hood and mask that slides over the face that has built in filters in case of airborne poisons. 

The hood is lined with a special sticky material that helps hide hair back very well leaving no chance for it to slip into her face distracting her making her identifiable, Nova also recognizes that Izuku isn't the only one that could know her and if anyone knew she was there they could tell Izuku then he would be worried the entire time and wouldn't perform his best and that was not what she needed. 

So she has the face mask and the hood for now until she's in the clear. 

Step 3. Actually take the exam

Fuck. 

As Nova earns her card number and exam information card the lady handing her, her cards politely asked her to remove her mask and hood in order to prove her ID was valid. Slowly she looks around first, then she pulls off the hood and the attendant smiles at her "Okie Dokie sweetheart just go ahead and sit wherever the assembly will begin shortly!" 

Nova finds a seat quickly in the very far right corner, recovering her face once more and checking her surroundings to see if anyone had recognized her. After deeming herself in the clear she just sat and waited as the seats around her filled up. 

Nova was watching for Izuku like a hawk for at least 5 minutes never even noticing the angry sent of a very angry alpha one smelling of burnt Carmel and rubber completely being blindsided by the hand that's slammed onto her shoulder. With Izuku missing and Nova injured, it takes all her strength to make it to the Hero's to find help, only to be thrown into something much bigger than herself.

Waking up was a slow start.

The ringing in her ears came first, loud, harsh, obnoxious ringing. Everything around her felt muted, like her surroundings were closing in on her she tries to move but to no avail. It's dark, pitch dark she can't see a thing, or feel, the only feeling is suffocation. 

Breathe she can't seem to get herself to breathe. It's like shes drowning lungs, eyes and ears all burning with the feeling. Water surrounds her like a silent killer, waiting and watching like a predator about to pounce.

get up

There was something itching in the back of her mind, something important, something she couldn't quite place. Think. Think. But thinking only bought on more pain. 

Pain.

Get up

Why is she feeling pain? Where is it coming from?What happened? What's happening? Where is she! How'd this happen!?

Search, thinking, feeling, for anything to try and find a source of salvation from this torture.

Suddenly it all stops.

GET UP

The water drains and the panic subsides, and she can finally breathe. The burning suffocating feeling in her lungs disappeared but the fear remained it was still dark, so so dark. 

All that remains is a harsh riveting pain. One that begins at the base of her spine spreading and shooting through all her nerves. 

GET UP NOW.

Her eyes snap open in and instant sunlight streaming directly into them. Shutting them just as quickly as she had opened them, she tries to think, but she can't. Her head hurts, her back hurts, everything hurt. 

She tried to move but no dice, the pain just keeps getting worse with her movements. She was able to peek her eyes open slightly to try and check her surroundings. All she could see was a pedestrian crossing sign above her head.

Pedestrian crossing??

In that split second it all came rushing back to her, School, kacchan, Izuku,   walking home, the sludge monster, Izuku, getting hit, the sludge monster...

Izuku. 

Where is izuku.  

More importantly.

Where is the villain.

What the hell happened.

She has no idea how long she has been lying there, she's hoping it hasn't been long, it's still daylight out so It couldn't have been too long, right?

It takes at least 10 minutes before Nova finds the courage to move again. Pain shoots through her entire nervous system as she moves about but she manages to get herself into an up right position. 

Looking around slowly she assessed her surroundings. It dawns on her that she's still where she was when she presumably got knocked out. Her head hurts something fierce and her throat burns like hell, why she doesn't know. She's scared and confused and worst of all, Izuku is nowhere to be found. This frightens Nova more than the idea of being passed out on the side of the road.

She slowly tries to stand up but she immediately regrets it, stumbling as a sharp pain flares up her left leg, forcing her back to the ground. Her head is spinning and her ears are ringing, she sits and collects herself for a moment, taking deep calculated breaths.

Opening her eyes she carefully looks around once more for any sign of izuku, a bunch of Izukus things are on the ground scattered in different places around her. Things she knows for a fact that Izuku would never voluntary leave behind if he had the choice. 

His backpack for one was a limited edition All Might golden age backpack that Izuku saved up for, for two years. There was no way in hell he'd leave that behind. Nor would he voluntarily leave his hero trading cards, he has been collecting t since he was at least 6 years old.

Nova spends a moment trying to get herself to stand back up despite the pain and when she does her leg starts to throb just as much as it did before. But she can't worry about that, she has to find Izuku. She pushed through the pain and slowly limped to all of Izukus belongings and picked them up one by one. She looked around for any more clues on what could have happened and the only thing she sees is the flipped over manhole cover in which she assumed is where the villain came from, or escape into. 

From what she can remember she tried to shove Izuku out of the way of that.....thing, then she was hit in the chest by it and then ....waking up on the side of the road. Nova couldn't stop thinking about all the possibilities of what could be happening to him right now. She was trying not to freak herself out,  she decided the best thing she could do was go home to Inko or no maybe a police station or- 

*BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM*

Nova nearly jumped out of her own skin. The noise was so loud she thought something had dropped or crashed not even 10 feet from her. The noise made her notice the ringing in her ears as is got worse by the volume, she probably has a concussion, the explosion made the ground beneath her feet shake violently. Nova started spinning around to the best of her ability trying to look everywhere and anywhere, trying to find the source of the sound or anything in relation to it, and when she finally turned to her left she saw a plume of black smoke billowing into the sky from a distance.

Bingo.

If she's going to get help anywhere it's there. She knows heros and police officers alike will show up no matter what the commotion is, and she could get the help to find Izuku in no time. Even though her leg was on fire she forced herself to walk on it hoping to get there quick because deep down she was freaking the fuck out. 

Her journey was slow and painful, since school and work were out there weren't maybe people walking around. The people that did see her gave her odd looks but they all kept to themselves mostly, one by one passing her as if she didn't exist. 

Novas head feel like it's splitting in two, there is no way she doesn't have a concussion of some sort. The villain had sent her flying pretty far from where she and Izuku originally stood and he hit her quite hard if her leg had anything to say about it. The strength of the villain surprised Nova as he seemed to be made of nothing but liquid she had noted from the brief glance she got of him. If the situation where any different Izuku would already be analyzing and writing in his notes about the villains quirk. 

Nova trudged one for at least 30 minutes before she was able to make it to the cloud of smoke, it was billowing up from the Tatooin Shopping District and said smoke was billowing into the sky worse then before. Looking up from her spot behind the crowd Nova could see why.

There were heros, police, and firefighters, everywhere, yelling and shouting orders at each other and at the near by civilians. Everyone was yelling and screaming in panic, trying to flee the terrible scene. The sounds of glass shattering and wood burning could be heard loud and clear. Fire raged everywhere, licking up the walls of the Shopping District destroying anything and everything in it's path. 

*BOOM*. *BOOM* *BOOOOM* 

Nova had no time to think before some heros came billowing right towards her. She tried to grab one of their attentions, she tried to flag them down and let them know this isn't the only terrible situation happening right now. But in that moment they didn't care about her they cared about the fire, about the people, about the visible threat in front of them, they all ran past her without a second glance before the bigger of the three heros speaks up. 

"Look, it's taken someone hostage, how dare you pray on a child!" The hero threw himself into the fray to try and stop the villain.

A child, could it be Izuku? 

Please don't let it be Izuku. 

Nova shoves herself to the front of the crowd to try and get a better look. But the view she got was not one she would ever hope for. 

The seemingly liquid sludge monster that had attacked Nova and Izuku was here causing a rampage, he must have got himself cornered to try and go on like this. The villain kept moving, the sludge that is his (body, quirk??)  looked like it encasing what one the heros said was a child. 

"Ha! Stay back, or I'll snap his neck!"

Oh God, Oh God Oh God Oh god, Izuku!

But that thought was soon squashed by the desperate hollar of none other than Katsuki Bakugou.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

YOU PICKED THE WRONG GUY TO MESS WITH!

IM GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO WHATEVER SEWER YOU CRAWLED OUT OF!

LET ME GOOOOOOOOOO!"

Bakugou was growling and snarling like and animal caught in a trap thrashing and squirming trying his best to get free. 

The child thought to be Izuku is actually Bakugou. How did this happen? Where's Izuku? How did Bakugou get attacked? Is Izuku ok?  All these thoughts and more circulate in her mind. She can't seem to slow it down. Bakugous screaming and usage of his quirk wasn't making matters any better. His explosions breaking glass and setting fire to the surrounding area. 

It looked like the heros were having hell of a time trying to rein this villain, on the account of his sludge body, nobody seemed to posses the right quirk in order to stop him. But it's only a matter of time before he could seriously injure Bakugou or one of the heros.

Through all the noise Nova could hear the villain conversing with Bakugou "Man I really hit the jackpot, with a quirk like yours under my control, I can take All Might down with one punch." The villain was laughing and cackling like he had just said the funniest joke on earth. 

More and more heros are arriving on the scene, heros like Mt Lady and Kamui Woods, who only show up to realize how useless their powers are for the current situation. 

Bakugous quirk was throwing the whole district up into flames without him realizing or caring. He may have been defending himself but his explosions were making matters worse, an they aren't calculated their random and spontaneous at this point he's just trying to escape not to fight. 

By now a large crowd had accumulated in front of the scene and Nova has forgotten her original plan. She is frozen in fear, all she can do is stand and stare at the helpless Katsuki Bakugou as he fights for his life right in front of her eyes. The crowd is getting restless. "Why hasn't anybody captured this guy yet?" "What's taking so long?" "Why are they just standing around do something for Christ sake!" 

Bakugous movement were becoming slow and sluggish, he's been struggling for the last 5 minutes against this sludge, Nova can't imagine she'd last even half that time suffocating under all that sludge. Bakugou tries to turn his head away from the monster and when he opens his eyes Nova heart drops. 

Katsuki Bakugou the bully, Katsuki Bakugou the strong outstanding student, Katsuki Bakugou the student so sure in his abilities he's been bragging for weeks about getting into the best hero school Japan has to offer, was standing before her with a look of defeat and something else something that screamed 'help me please, I'm scared'.

Her body moved before she could think, disregarding the pain that flared through her entire body Nova did nothing but trudge forward. Putting one foot in front of the other she sprinted toward him. Why...she doesn't know Bakugou has never been nice to her always calling names and throwing punches why should she care what happens to the town bully. But she moves regardless. 

"No you idiots! Stop, your going to get yourselfs killed!" Nova could here the heros yelling and screaming but she didn't listen all she did was continue on.

Idiots....plural??

"Are you nuts what are you doing here?!" 

Turning her entire body Nova visablly deflates, standing before her is none other than Izuku Midoryia, unruly hair, bright eyes, and same old freckles shes been starring at for the past 10 years of her life.

Before she can quip back Izuku shoves Nova off to the side before shot putting his hero notebook into the villains face hitting him square in the eye. This stunned the villain, only temperaly allowing Bakugou to breathe. "What the hell? Why are you two here?" Bakugou screamed in frustration Nova had no answer so Izuku answered for them both. " I don't know. My legs just started moving." At this point both Nova and Izuku are clawing helpessly at the villain in hopes to get a grip on Bakugou.

With Izuku confession Nova found her own voice " Just because I hate you doesn't mean you deserve to die fuck face what kinda hero would turn a blind eye to their enemys pain, I'm not just going to stand around and watch you die!" 

Bakugou doesn't respond to them only screaming at the villain to get the fuck off of him. The sludge villain raises his hand once more to strike and its not in slow motion,  shes been told near death experiences slow down time and how your life flashes before your eyes. The latter may be true but the former certainly was not everything is sped up ten fold. The villains hand comes down in an instant and in that second Nova manages to pivot on her feet to grab izuku shoving him to the ground, throwing her body over him like a shield, bracing for impact. 

Nova eyes are squeezed shut and all she can hear his Izuku soft wines and whimpers. He smells like burnt mint and eucalyptus a nasty combination from the normally clean smelling Omega. As time goes on and the blow never comes Nova finally removes her head from Izukus shoulder thought still keeping Izuku down in case something happens. What she doesn't expect is for the Number one hero her and Izukus idol, to be standing right in front of them, seemingly having protected them from the villains mighty blow. 

"I really am pathetic, I told you the traits that make a great champion, but I see now I wasn't living up to my own ideal. Pros are always risking their lives! That's the true test of a hero!" 

What he was talking about Nova had no idea but all might had effectively gotten a hold onto Bakugou as he made his little speech. 

"DAMN YOU ALL MIGHT!" the sludge villain screams in deafeat as all might yells out his infamous, 

                                  DDDDEEEEETTTTTRRRRRROOOOOOIIIIIIIITTTTT

SSSSSSSSMMMMMAAAAAAAAASSASSHHHHHH

It takes one mighty blow from the hero to send the sludge monster flying, breaking up the villain into multiple tiny fragments the force of the punch not allowing him to pull himself together. With his other hand he held Bakugou, Izuku, and Nova back so they also didn't scatter into the wind. 

All Might kneeled on the ground first in the air in honor and a silence fell over the the crowd behind him. Before the exclamations of surprise started breaking through. "Woah what was that" , " Hey is that water, wait is that rain?" "Rain, it, it can't be." "Don't tell me all that wind just now was...?" " Look at the clouds they're moving!" 

* Holy crap he just changed the fucking weather* Nova stared at the hero in amazement and wonder as water started falling from the sky. All Might stands up with a proud smirk on his face. The crowd goes absolutely wild men and woman alike hollering in surprise and awe. "He changed the weather with a single punch like it was nothing!" Said one Pedestrian" , "All Might saved the day again, he amazing!" Said another. All Might raises his fist in triumph and the crowd roars in approval and it seems like All Might is enjoying the attention. 

Novas attention although was stolen from the amazing hero when Izuku tugged on her sleeve. Turning to face him his reaction was not one she had been expecting. She expected tears, many many tears, and snot looots of snot. But what she found was a face full of excitement and wonder one full of determination and drive.

As the heros collected all the scattered mounds of sludge and the villain went into police custody where he belonged, Nova and Izuku were getting chewed out by the heros, big time.

" You morons, do you have a death wish?" Yelled Kamui Woods 

" There was absolutely no reason for you two to put yourselves in danger like that!" Deatharms screamed 

This when on for sometime but Bakugou was getting quite the opposite. Bakugou was praised for his bravery in such a situation. He was receiving compliments left and right even gaining sidekick offers from some wannabe heros. 

When the heros finally decided to stop yelling at them they had to make statements on what happened and get checked for injuries. The pain she has felt before dulled to a slow ache as time went on and the paramedics couldn't see nor feel any injuries so she was sent on her way, against their better judgement Nova was not going to go to the hospital, the bill would absolutely kill her even if it wouldn't be much she needs all the money she can get right now and a hospital bill certainly wont fit into the budget. 

After about and hour or so they were finally free to go. Within the last hour Nova finally figured out what had happened to Izuku when she passed out. Apparently  the sludge villain has popped up out of the manhole cover hence why it was flipped. Turns out the villain was using the sewage lines under the city to traverse from place to place. After he knocked Nova unconscious he had tried to steal her body just like he tried to do to Bakugou, but when the villain was nearly done All Might himself had popped up out of the sewers following his trail and had blown away the sludge villain  for the 1st time around and when All Might tried to leave to take the villain to the police apparently Izuku had a better idea. 

"I still can't believe you left me unconscious on the side of the road to ask All Might a freaking question!" Nova fumed as she and Izuku finally made the trek home " I mean I understand why you did it it All Might for Christ sake, but for real Izuku I was unconscious, I could have been seriously injured." Izuku sulked like a child being scolded. Nova has been apart of many villain attacks in her city, either just really bad luck or the universe must really hate her. Either way villan attacks were a common thing for her but it did sadden her that she wasn't a priority in the situation given the circumstances but she's used to it. 

"Nova I'm so so so sorry I never should have tried to stop him if I didn't Kacchan and all those innocent people wouldn't have been attacked and those businesses wouldn't have been burned down and this is all my fault I'm so sorry.  I'm so so sorry I'm such a terrible person." 

(note: I am aware Izuku Midoryia would never leave a defenceless unconscious woman on the side of the road just to talk to All Might but this is just for plot purposes 😋)

" Izuku, Izuku, IZUKU!' 

His rambling finally stop as his mouth snaps shut with an audible clink of his teeth. " You had an opportunity to talk to All Might of all people and took it." Izukus eyes filled with unshed tears, " It's ok really Izuku if you think about it I was only out for 10 or so minutes anway so it not like I was in any real danger." The words sting because anything could have happened to her in those 10 minutes, another villain could have shown up, or a drunk alpha with nasty intentions could have taken advantage of her, she's actually very lucky. "I'm ok now are I?" The question does little to sooth Izuku so she pulls out her last resort.    Humor.   "Alright if you really want to make it up to me, you'll just have to be my human shield when the apocalypse inevitably starts. "  

Izuku blinks one, twice, and then he snorts loudly and obnoxious, "This is not the time and place Nova." Thought as the words come out Izuku can't help but try to hide his smile. " Well hey I say it's fair and square." Izuku raises his brow " Fair? If we're doing Fair then I should be your shield for 10 minutes max!" Nova and Izuku stop walking and they only stare at each other, before they burst out into obnoxious laughter. 

"I wish I could have apologized to All Might for making him drop that villain, if it weren't for me Kacchan wouldn't have another reason to hate me, I guess I can always just say something on his website when I get home." Izuku speaks with a dejected tone, and Nova doesn't know what to say to that because he's right it is his fault if he wasn't so selfish he wouldn't have grabbed onto All Might as he tried to spring away and the villain would have never attacked another person. 

Coming to the forked path of Okiqa road Nova and Izuku stop. "Seriously though are you ok whatever that villain was doing looked like it really hurt, are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?" Nova has a nasty thought pop up before she squashes it down with a cough *Where was the concern when I was unconscious?*

"Yeah I'm all good zu, nothing a good night's rest won't fix!" She tried to stay cheerful but at this point her facade was slipping. "Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow!" "But..." Before Izuku could utter another word Nova starts down the left side of the forked path while Izuku slowly ebbs into the right one keeping and eye on Nova until she is out of sight. 

Novas walk is silence except for the constant buzzing of cicadas, the low songs from the birds of the night, as well as the sound of her feet dragging against the gravel road  

And then she hears it, loud obnoxious huffing and stomping making its way towards her. Looking up to find it source she comes face to face with Bakugou Katsuki who is no doubt on his way home from the whole fiasco himself. "Hey, we need to fucking talk!" Bakugou stands and pants heavily like he'd just ran a marathon. "Listen I would never ask for two weaklings like you to help me, don't think you can look down on me especially that deku."

Nova scoffed and rolled her eyes " Yeah cause being saved by All Might himself is totally handling it, but continue." 

Bakugou seethes, " HUH? THE HELL DID YOU SAY, I WAS FINE ON NY OWN GOD DAMMIT YOU TWO DIDNT DO JACK GOT THAT! I WAS FINE BY MYSELF!" 

" YOU GOD DAMN HERO WANNA BES WOULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT AS RENT A COPS!" Bakugou iS huffing from his outburst and is shaking with pure anger. "You didn't help me, you did nothing, because you are nothing, don't forget that, I don't owe you anything!" And with that final statement he pushed past Nova like she didn't exists and continues to stomp and huff as he walks away. Leaving Nova confused and slightly hurt, she understands she didn't do much, but hell she did more than what most the heros did combined, so fuck him and his temper tantrum. 

Nova didn't need his bullshit, she didn't need it at all.

All she needed now was a bath and a goddamn nap.

Chapter Two: What it takes to be a hero

With Izuku missing and Nova injured, it takes all her strength to make it to the Hero's to find help, only to be thrown into something much bigger than herself.

Waking up was a slow start.

The ringing in her ears came first, loud, harsh, obnoxious ringing. Everything around her felt muted, like her surroundings were closing in on her she tries to move but to no avail. It's dark, pitch dark she can't see a thing, or feel, the only feeling is suffocation. 

Breathe she can't seem to get herself to breathe. It's like shes drowning lungs, eyes and ears all burning with the feeling. Water surrounds her like a silent killer, waiting and watching like a predator about to pounce.

Oh God, Oh God Oh God Oh god, Izuku!

But that thought was soon squashed by the desperate hollar of none other than Katsuki Bakugou.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

YOU PICKED THE WRONG GUY TO MESS WITH!

IM GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO WHATEVER SEWER YOU CRAWLED OUT OF!

LET ME GOOOOOOOOOO!"

Bakugou was growling and snarling like and animal caught in a trap thrashing and squirming trying his best to get free. 

The child thought to be Izuku is actually Bakugou. How did this happen? Where's Izuku? How did Bakugou get attacked? Is Izuku ok?  All these thoughts and more circulate in her mind. She can't seem to slow it down. Bakugous screaming and usage of his quirk wasn't making matters any better. His explosions breaking glass and setting fire to the surrounding area. 

It looked like the heros were having hell of a time trying to rein this villain, on the account of his sludge body, nobody seemed to posses the right quirk in order to stop him. But it's only a matter of time before he could seriously injure Bakugou or one of the heros.

Through all the noise Nova could hear the villain conversing with Bakugou "Man I really hit the jackpot, with a quirk like yours under my control, I can take All Might down with one punch." The villain was laughing and cackling like he had just said the funniest joke on earth. 

More and more heros are arriving on the scene, heros like Mt Lady and Kamui Woods, who only show up to realize how useless their powers are for the current situation. 

Bakugous quirk was throwing the whole district up into flames without him realizing or caring. He may have been defending himself but his explosions were making matters worse, an they aren't calculated their random and spontaneous at this point he's just trying to escape not to fight. 

By now a large crowd had accumulated in front of the scene and Nova has forgotten her original plan. She is frozen in fear, all she can do is stand and stare at the helpless Katsuki Bakugou as he fights for his life right in front of her eyes. The crowd is getting restless. "Why hasn't anybody captured this guy yet?" "What's taking so long?" "Why are they just standing around do something for Christ sake!" 

Bakugous movement were becoming slow and sluggish, he's been struggling for the last 5 minutes against this sludge, Nova can't imagine she'd last even half that time suffocating under all that sludge. Bakugou tries to turn his head away from the monster and when he opens his eyes Nova heart drops. 

Katsuki Bakugou the bully, Katsuki Bakugou the strong outstanding student, Katsuki Bakugou the student so sure in his abilities he's been bragging for weeks about getting into the best hero school Japan has to offer, was standing before her with a look of defeat and something else something that screamed 'help me please, I'm scared'.

Her body moved before she could think, disregarding the pain that flared through her entire body Nova did nothing but trudge forward. Putting one foot in front of the other she sprinted toward him. Why...she doesn't know Bakugou has never been nice to her always calling names and throwing punches why should she care what happens to the town bully. But she moves regardless. 

"No you idiots! Stop, your going to get yourselfs killed!" Nova could here the heros yelling and screaming but she didn't listen all she did was continue on.

Idiots....plural??

"Are you nuts what are you doing here?!" 

Turning her entire body Nova visablly deflates, standing before her is none other than Izuku Midoryia, unruly hair, bright eyes, and same old freckles shes been starring at for the past 10 years of her life.

Before she can quip back Izuku shoves Nova off to the side before shot putting his hero notebook into the villains face hitting him square in the eye. This stunned the villain, only temperaly allowing Bakugou to breathe. "What the hell? Why are you two here?" Bakugou screamed in frustration Nova had no answer so Izuku answered for them both. " I don't know. My legs just started moving." At this point both Nova and Izuku are clawing helpessly at the villain in hopes to get a grip on Bakugou.

With Izuku confession Nova found her own voice " Just because I hate you doesn't mean you deserve to die fuck face what kinda hero would turn a blind eye to their enemys pain, I'm not just going to stand around and watch you die!" 

Bakugou doesn't respond to them only screaming at the villain to get the fuck off of him. The sludge villain raises his hand once more to strike and its not in slow motion,  shes been told near death experiences slow down time and how your life flashes before your eyes. The latter may be true but the former certainly was not everything is sped up ten fold. The villains hand comes down in an instant and in that second Nova manages to pivot on her feet to grab izuku shoving him to the ground, throwing her body over him like a shield, bracing for impact. 

Nova eyes are squeezed shut and all she can hear his Izuku soft wines and whimpers. He smells like burnt mint and eucalyptus a nasty combination from the normally clean smelling Omega. As time goes on and the blow never comes Nova finally removes her head from Izukus shoulder thought still keeping Izuku down in case something happens. What she doesn't expect is for the Number one hero her and Izukus idol, to be standing right in front of them, seemingly having protected them from the villains mighty blow. 

"I really am pathetic, I told you the traits that make a great champion, but I see now I wasn't living up to my own ideal. Pros are always risking their lives! That's the true test of a hero!" 

What he was talking about Nova had no idea but all might had effectively gotten a hold onto Bakugou as he made his little speech. 

"DAMN YOU ALL MIGHT!" the sludge villain screams in deafeat as all might yells out his infamous, 

                                  DDDDEEEEETTTTTRRRRRROOOOOOIIIIIIIITTTTT

SSSSSSSSMMMMMAAAAAAAAASSASSHHHHHH

It takes one mighty blow from the hero to send the sludge monster flying, breaking up the villain into multiple tiny fragments the force of the punch not allowing him to pull himself together. With his other hand he held Bakugou, Izuku, and Nova back so they also didn't scatter into the wind. 

All Might kneeled on the ground first in the air in honor and a silence fell over the the crowd behind him. Before the exclamations of surprise started breaking through. "Woah what was that" , " Hey is that water, wait is that rain?" "Rain, it, it can't be." "Don't tell me all that wind just now was...?" " Look at the clouds they're moving!" 

* Holy crap he just changed the fucking weather* Nova stared at the hero in amazement and wonder as water started falling from the sky. All Might stands up with a proud smirk on his face. The crowd goes absolutely wild men and woman alike hollering in surprise and awe. "He changed the weather with a single punch like it was nothing!" Said one Pedestrian" , "All Might saved the day again, he amazing!" Said another. All Might raises his fist in triumph and the crowd roars in approval and it seems like All Might is enjoying the attention. 

Novas attention although was stolen from the amazing hero when Izuku tugged on her sleeve. Turning to face him his reaction was not one she had been expecting. She expected tears, many many tears, and snot looots of snot. But what she found was a face full of excitement and wonder one full of determination and drive.

As the heros collected all the scattered mounds of sludge and the villain went into police custody where he belonged, Nova and Izuku were getting chewed out by the heros, big time.

" You morons, do you have a death wish?" Yelled Kamui Woods 

" There was absolutely no reason for you two to put yourselves in danger like that!" Deatharms screamed 

This when on for sometime but Bakugou was getting quite the opposite. Bakugou was praised for his bravery in such a situation. He was receiving compliments left and right even gaining sidekick offers from some wannabe heros. 

When the heros finally decided to stop yelling at them they had to make statements on what happened and get checked for injuries. The pain she has felt before dulled to a slow ache as time went on and the paramedics couldn't see nor feel any injuries so she was sent on her way, against their better judgement Nova was not going to go to the hospital, the bill would absolutely kill her even if it wouldn't be much she needs all the money she can get right now and a hospital bill certainly wont fit into the budget. 

After about and hour or so they were finally free to go. Within the last hour Nova finally figured out what had happened to Izuku when she passed out. Apparently  the sludge villain has popped up out of the manhole cover hence why it was flipped. Turns out the villain was using the sewage lines under the city to traverse from place to place. After he knocked Nova unconscious he had tried to steal her body just like he tried to do to Bakugou, but when the villain was nearly done All Might himself had popped up out of the sewers following his trail and had blown away the sludge villain  for the 1st time around and when All Might tried to leave to take the villain to the police apparently Izuku had a better idea. 

"I still can't believe you left me unconscious on the side of the road to ask All Might a freaking question!" Nova fumed as she and Izuku finally made the trek home " I mean I understand why you did it it All Might for Christ sake, but for real Izuku I was unconscious, I could have been seriously injured." Izuku sulked like a child being scolded. Nova has been apart of many villain attacks in her city, either just really bad luck or the universe must really hate her. Either way villan attacks were a common thing for her but it did sadden her that she wasn't a priority in the situation given the circumstances but she's used to it. 

"Nova I'm so so so sorry I never should have tried to stop him if I didn't Kacchan and all those innocent people wouldn't have been attacked and those businesses wouldn't have been burned down and this is all my fault I'm so sorry.  I'm so so sorry I'm such a terrible person." 

(note: I am aware Izuku Midoryia would never leave a defenceless unconscious woman on the side of the road just to talk to All Might but this is just for plot purposes 😋)

" Izuku, Izuku, IZUKU!' 

His rambling finally stop as his mouth snaps shut with an audible clink of his teeth. " You had an opportunity to talk to All Might of all people and took it." Izukus eyes filled with unshed tears, " It's ok really Izuku if you think about it I was only out for 10 or so minutes anway so it not like I was in any real danger." The words sting because anything could have happened to her in those 10 minutes, another villain could have shown up, or a drunk alpha with nasty intentions could have taken advantage of her, she's actually very lucky. "I'm ok now are I?" The question does little to sooth Izuku so she pulls out her last resort.    Humor.   "Alright if you really want to make it up to me, you'll just have to be my human shield when the apocalypse inevitably starts. "  

Izuku blinks one, twice, and then he snorts loudly and obnoxious, "This is not the time and place Nova." Thought as the words come out Izuku can't help but try to hide his smile. " Well hey I say it's fair and square." Izuku raises his brow " Fair? If we're doing Fair then I should be your shield for 10 minutes max!" Nova and Izuku stop walking and they only stare at each other, before they burst out into obnoxious laughter. 

"I wish I could have apologized to All Might for making him drop that villain, if it weren't for me Kacchan wouldn't have another reason to hate me, I guess I can always just say something on his website when I get home." Izuku speaks with a dejected tone, and Nova doesn't know what to say to that because he's right it is his fault if he wasn't so selfish he wouldn't have grabbed onto All Might as he tried to spring away and the villain would have never attacked another person. 

Coming to the forked path of Okiqa road Nova and Izuku stop. "Seriously though are you ok whatever that villain was doing looked like it really hurt, are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?" Nova has a nasty thought pop up before she squashes it down with a cough *Where was the concern when I was unconscious?*

"Yeah I'm all good zu, nothing a good night's rest won't fix!" She tried to stay cheerful but at this point her facade was slipping. "Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow!" "But..." Before Izuku could utter another word Nova starts down the left side of the forked path while Izuku slowly ebbs into the right one keeping and eye on Nova until she is out of sight. 

Novas walk is silence except for the constant buzzing of cicadas, the low songs from the birds of the night, as well as the sound of her feet dragging against the gravel road  

And then she hears it, loud obnoxious huffing and stomping making its way towards her. Looking up to find it source she comes face to face with Bakugou Katsuki who is no doubt on his way home from the whole fiasco himself. "Hey, we need to fucking talk!" Bakugou stands and pants heavily like he'd just ran a marathon. "Listen I would never ask for two weaklings like you to help me, don't think you can look down on me especially that deku."

Nova scoffed and rolled her eyes " Yeah cause being saved by All Might himself is totally handling it, but continue." 

Bakugou seethes, " HUH? THE HELL DID YOU SAY, I WAS FINE ON NY OWN GOD DAMMIT YOU TWO DIDNT DO JACK GOT THAT! I WAS FINE BY MYSELF!" 

" YOU GOD DAMN HERO WANNA BES WOULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT AS RENT A COPS!" Bakugou iS huffing from his outburst and is shaking with pure anger. "You didn't help me, you did nothing, because you are nothing, don't forget that, I don't owe you anything!" And with that final statement he pushed past Nova like she didn't exists and continues to stomp and huff as he walks away. Leaving Nova confused and slightly hurt, she understands she didn't do much, but hell she did more than what most the heros did combined, so fuck him and his temper tantrum. 

Nova didn't need his bullshit, she didn't need it at all.

All she needed now was a bath and a goddamn nap.

I am not dead lmao I'm so sorry 😭😭😭😭, I'm kinda just writing for my own pleasure and haven't been feeling up to it with everything going on in my life right now lol. So here's a sneak peak for the second episode. Just ignore that I haven't been active since January 😋I hope you like it 💚 — A

Waking up is a slow start.

The ringing in her ears came first, loud, harsh, obnoxious ringing. Everything around her felt muted, like her surroundings were closing in on her. She tries to move but to no avail. It's dark, pitch black she can't see a thing, or feel, the only feeling is suffocation. 

Breathe she can't seem to get herself to breathe. It's like shes drowning, lungs, eyes and ears all burning with the feeling. Water surrounds her like a silent killer, waiting and watching like a predator about to pounce.

get up

There is something itching in the back of her mind, something important, something she cant quite place. Think. Think. But thinking only bought on more pain. 

Pain.

Get up

Why is she feeling pain? Where is it coming from?What happened? What's happening? Where is she! How'd this happen!?

Get Up

Search, thinking, feeling, for anything to try and find a source of salvation from this torture.

And suddenly it all stops.

GET UP

The water surrounding her begins to drain and the panic starts to subsides, and she can finally breathe. The burning suffocating feeling in her lungs disappeared but the fear remained, and it was still dark, so so dark. 

All that remains is the harsh riveting pain. One that begins at the base of her spine spreading and shooting through all her nerves, to the top of her crown.

GET UP NOW.

Her eyes snap open in and instant sunlight streaming directly into them. Shutting them just as quickly as she had opened them, she tries to think, but she can't. Her head hurts, her back hurts, everything hurts, she whines in distress.

She tried to move but no dice, the pain just keeps getting worse with movement. She was able to peek her eyes open slightly to try and check her surroundings. All she could see was a pedestrian crossing sign above her head. The bright red color jarring her memory.

Pedestrian crossing??

In that split second it all came rushing back to her, School, kacchan, Izuku,   walking home, the sludge monster, Izuku, getting hit, the sludge monster...

Izuku. 

Where is izuku.

More importantly.

Where is the villain.

What the hell happened.
