Printing Adventures #003

I have been wanting to do more Lego Printing for a while now and I finally got round to doing it. The first time I tried it was months ago and this time I just went for it and made a bigger print. I don't know if a lot of people like this printing technique. I feel like - at least on social media - it is not very well known, but it is SO much fun! making those prints is so addictive. I am so excited to do it again soon.

After my first attempt of carving a stamp, I got some better tools and then tried again - and it worked really well! This is how the stamp turned out and I love it so much! i printed with paint that is usualy used for lino printing and it worked so well. Not sure what exactly I will do with the stampings now, but they look pretty :D

Printing Adventures #001

I have tried Lego Printing a while ago and I absolutely fell in love with all the different printing techniques out there. So now I want to dive into it once again.

Last night I took a rubber and started to cut a little “brand name” stamp for my instagram.

And all went well - surprisingly well - considering that it was a random eraser/rubber, and I just started carving without much prior planning.

Well, fast forward 1,5h and I have a pretty good first attempt at using lino cutters….except….

I forgot that I need to cut the text mirrored for it to read properly when printed.

To be fair, it was way past my bed time at this point, but let’s be honest - I probably would have made the same mistake any other time.

That is such a funny beginner’s mistake I think. I just laughed at it and I’m gonna try again this weekend.

I think this might be a mistake that everyone needs to make once to learn it xD

Anyways - I’m still gonna share it here cause the stamp turned out pretty. Feel free to laugh with me xD

Foto dump of a recent project!

I was on the look for a hexagonal present box for a birthday present (Because Hexagons are the best shape ofc), but I couldn’t find one.

So I decided to make one myself!

And I am lowkey really proud of how it turned out 🥰

I used scrap cardboard I had lying around to cut out the parts, gummed paper tape to glue it all together (which was SO much fun I loved that part!) and then covered the inside and outside with normal craft paper.

This was honestly so therapeutic I love projects like this.

An afternoon’s worth of work 💐

On thursday evening, I had the best dinner with my work colleagues and there was a beautiful bouquet, so I had to try to draw it.

I did not do it justice, but I am very happy with how it turned out.

Face drawing progress.

The first two pictures are from my first sketchbook (circa 2015) and the two on the bottom are from my most recent sketchbook.

Even though I am not consistent with my drawing practice at all, I managed to improve so much over the years. It’s so neat to see 😄

It’s easy to look at a drawing and see all the things you can improve or need to get better at - and I do see a lot of those things on my most recent faces. But it’s so important to step back every once in a while and take a glance at how far you’ve come already! 🥰

Heeeere’s another sketch from a few days ago - the character design is not mine - I just used it as practice!

But I am getting better at drawing human proportions (even if these here are Chibi-Proportions)

Life was very busy lately, so I didn’t get to draw as much as I want. But for the first time in my self-teaching journey, I am noticing improvements and it makes me so happy ✨

Sketches Day 2.

I know I won’t be able to do this daily for long, but that’s not what this is about. It’s about showing up and posting even the worst of sketches - and loosing the fear of making “bad” art and rather embracing the good, the bad and the ugly!

Initially I wanted to practice drawing faces, but it’s so hard that I get frustrated and start practicing the basics again 😅 I’m gonna trust the process though and hope that some day the practice will pay off and drawing faces will get easier and more fun.

I’m having such a good time though studying art again. ☺️

I did a little drawing last night! Wohooo!

Since I have started taking actual drawing/art classes I’ve had much less time to draw the things I like. But at the same time I have made SO much art and progress in the last 5 weeks, it’s amazing ☺️

I still have a long way to go though. It is also a little stressful, but I put this workload on myself, so I’m the one to blame 😅

I ordered my first batch of stickers and I could not be more happy 🥳☺️

They turned out a little too dark, but the quality is exactly what I wanted and I want to give stickers to EVERYONE I know now ✨
