I think my least favorite vegetable as a hat would either be a brushless sprout (I'm picturing a large one with a center carved out kind of like a helmet, but I think the smell would be awful and it would be kind of hard uncooked) on the other hand though, my favorite vegetable hat would probably be asparagus, for this one I'm picturing it woven together kind of like a straw hat, I think the frilly ends of asparagus would make for a fun brim of a hat! Quite stylish in my opinion!! 😄 Thank you for making me think so deeply about this!! I agree with your sentiment that "how are you doing" is such a boring question, I love fun questions like this!!

Now, for a fun question for you in exchange : what would your favorite and least favorite fruit be made out of for shoes?!

You’d want a solid fruit for shoes, but something with a little give. I think pineapple (with waterproof socks) would be ideal. The spikes make for a solid grip, and the inside is soft enough for comfort but firm enough to protect you from bindis.

Least favourite? Probably either a durian (smell) or a prickly pear fruit. That’s got actual cactus spikes all over it. Not great for standing!

(And I’d pay for a dried asparagus hat that sounds rad)

I’ve found you can always find out more about someone by asking a nonsensical question than a sensical one. Let’s say I ask “how was your day?”

You’d say “good,” or “fine” or some other vague platitude. That’s actually not good OR fine! I learn nothing

Instead, ask “what do you think is the worst vegetable to wear as a hat?” and boom they’re immediately engaged. Plus, you can tell from their answers if they value practicality (a carrot, it would fall), fashion (cabbage, it’s ugly), comfort (a pumpkin, would be too heavy), or if they prioritise something you’d never even considered. One person I asked said that garlic is the worst since it would “smell and nobody would talk to you,” while another said tomato since it would turn to mush in the sun and cause sunburn.

Would love to hear anyone’s answers by the way. I’ve been collecting results on people’s responses for years.

As it happens I have a comic WIP with a very similar plot, which is lurking in my drafts for a while now. I don't know if I will ever finish the comic, so I decided to post the raw WIP instead (long post).

good omens post-s2 fic recs

here's a list of fics i found really great so far!! all of these are completed, will go back and add in WIPs once they've finished.

Not for All My Little Words by @mia-ugly and @soft-october-night was the first thing i read post-s2 that i was like yes!!! yes this is it!!! its such a fun banter-y little romp of aziraphale trying to woo crowley with literary quotes as crowley hops around the world. VERY fun

Drinking Buddies and Diaries by dove_dove was another one. it's crowley teaching muriel how to be human and aziraphale getting weirdly jealous and bitchy about it. there's also a lot of aziraphale's diary entries in here. incredibly funny very satisfying ending and completely in line with the humor of the show.

puttin' on the ritz by @moonyinpisces. what can i say that hasn't already been said. funny horny goofy 20s romp. implies that crowley crashed the stock market bc he's googoo gaga. you can't get anything better than this

I'm the treasure baby, I'm the prize by stereobone. crowley takes up sex work only he never fucks the guys, he just hypnotizes them so he can use them as free therapists. just such a good concept and so well executed.

a rarer height by hyruling. this. THIS was the long fic i was waiting for. the arguments are so visceral, the scenery is a absolute gem. the tension and softness is palpable i just wanna lie down in a bed of it. absolute GOAT. emotional wreck for the ages.

Just Once More by NaroMoreau. i'm a simple girl i love a time loop and hoooooo boy does this DELIVER!!!! excellent aziraphale character study. excellent themes excellent language excellent everything.

I enjoy Az already realising he likes Crowley by the time Adam appears but hasn't yet worked out what to do with that information bc acts-of-service Crowley Can't Talk, Wont Talk.

Crowley on the other hand has been VERY GOOD at ignoring why he spends so much of his time around Az so only on the crux of YOU'RE GOING TO LOOSE HIM did anything manage to force its way through to his brain. (i did not enjoy crowley being told he was in love with az in s2, i think he could have worked it out himself)

i rly enjoy hcs where they started sleeping together and with humans for fun (i mean the ox ribs scene sets some v good precedent for this) az sleeps with humans bc he indulges! he likes pleasure! crowely on the other hand is very bad at catching feelings and doesnt like it when they die so has mostly only slept with az (did i mention he's VERY good at ignoring his feelings) but they probably haven't slept together for a few hundred years when adam pops up.

my compliant show!hcs are still that az knows he loves crowley (i mean the scene with jim where he leaps out of the chair to attempt to protect crowley saying no he defo doesnt know ANYONE who he feels that way with, don't look closely at anyone he is with) and is just sort of sitting on it still, waiting for any hint from crowley, planning a ball definitely only for humans and no other reason. Crowley is obviously very protective of Az but he still hasn't clicked why he's worried about him but he doesn't have the excuse of heaven or hell anymore so it wouldn't have taken much for him to work it out (hello one of his first lines in s2 is "you ever think, what's the point?" the point is love you idiot)

(book!gomens is just they're already married and have been fucking for centuries but the book just doesnt mention that.)

When it comes to Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship in heaven, I do like the delicious angst that comes with the idea that they were lovers in heaven and were torn apart by the fall but I think my favorite interpretation is that Aziraphale fell in love with Crowley while he was an angel, Crowley only loved him back when he became a demon

It wasn’t that Crowley disliked Aziraphale in heaven. Not at all, in fact, he liked him quite a lot and Aziraphale helped him with many of his projects. It was just that, as an angel, Crowley was “in love” with his work. He didn’t notice Aziraphale’s feelings, and Aziraphale was fine with that. It was enough just to be welcome at the side of this strange but passionate, honest, fearlessly authentic angel for eternity. More than enough

And then he fell, and Aziraphale’s heart broke, but he had no choice but to accept the angel he knew was gone. The angels demons were stopped existing the moment they turned against Her will

But Crowley, fallen, bitter, and confused Crowley, he no longer had work he loved. He no longer had anything he cared about except- for Aziraphale. For his old heavenly helper. The one thing that Crowley found familiar and that is when he finally noticed, truly noticed, Aziraphale

Crowley would fall in love with Aziraphale on the wall, when he realized there was one angel still in heaven that actually deserved to be called an angel. Aziraphale would spend 6,000 years trying to not to be in love with Crowley as after all, that angel was fallen. Gone. In all the ways that mattered.

It was only after Crowley saved his books that Aziraphale had to face the reality: the angel he loved had never gone away, Crowley had always been Crowley in all the ways that mattered, and Aziraphale would love him from the start of all of existence to its end. If it was ever to end

He could not be with Crowley, he was a demon, his enemy, but he had made his peace with that. It’s enough just to be welcome at the side of this strange but passionate, honest, fearlessly authentic demon for eternity. That has to be enough

I like that way of looking at it
