I finished the first rough draft of Jack's story, the Experiment X prequel! (Note: If you want in on helping me decide a title soon, join my mailing list! Just DM me for details ;) ). I've already started outlining the second book for this story (something I don't usually do...) and these are by far my favorite parts of the outline, even if they are rather vague. It was on my father’s first visit to see me again that I introduced him to my bunkmate. He hugged Ryan tight to his chest, saying how much he knew that he needed the love—that it had been something he was never shown before. My dad said he could see it in his eyes. Dad gave him his name after Ryan had told him that his parents had only ever called him ‘kid’. After Mark showed up, Ryan had asked my dad to give his younger brother a name as well. Both Ryan and Mark had taken my father’s middle name and adopted it as their last. They didn’t want to be tied to their actual father at all. Day 18 (I know it’s the 19th…) for #fantasyWIPoctober was ‘Freaky Friday: Your protagonist and antagonist swap places for a day. What’s the first thing they do?’ For Immortal Curse: If Markus and Ambrose (the demon who cursed Mark, laying out the consequences for resurrection) switched places, not a whole lot would get done. Markus would kill the contracts and lift the ‘curse’ without lifting the immortality. Ambrose would promptly have ‘Markus’ just willingly sign the contract in blood. Therefore, Markus would be bound to his duties. It would just be a cycle of that until the day is done. Lol For the Experiment X prequel: Doctor James Thaddeus, if he switched places with Jack, would try to convince the other Subjects that what they are going through is ‘needed’, but he wouldn’t survive. Jack, if he became Thaddeus, would murder his colleagues and then kill himself. Yup. Day 16 for #fantasywipoctober “Mid month check-in”. So! I’ve gotten about 2k-ish words added to the Immortal story and 7-8k added to Jack’s! (4K of that was in 2 days!) Day 15 (I’ll do 16 a little later...) for #fantasyWIPoctober Apparently, it was ‘National Aesthetician Day’. So, for the Experiment X prequel, although the characters go through some pretty horrible, gruesome things, the Earth Elementals still bring in this calming beauty. When the guys are stressed, they usually do their best to follow Matt’s breathing and heartbeat. (That is, if Matt isn’t also pissed off). For the Immortal Curse one, I’m going with Lily in general. Lily Morningstar. The devil’s daughter, a princess of the underworld, and heir to the throne of hell. She’s only seventeen, but already most the demons listen to her over her father. Lily might Lucifer’s daughter, but she reminds Markus time and time again, that she (and her father) is not a demon. They are angels and she is a nephilim. She’s more powerful than Lucifer, even if she doesn’t know it yet. She handles herself with grace and can kill a man with the snap of her fingers. She also resurrects Markus using black magick, so there’s also that. Day 14 #fantasywipoctober “Movie rating: how would your books be labeled?” Jack’s story would be rated R. Mostly due to the language though. The guys say ‘f*ck’ a lot. The Immortal one though, could probably be PG-13? I think the f-bomb is only dropped once. 🤷‍♀️ Both are rather violent though... Jack’s more so. So, days 12 and 13 for the #aestheticWIPup are supposed to be ‘break days’ but, I need to catch up. So, here, have days 10 and 11. 10: “Baddies” The main ‘bad guy’ in Broken Melody is 100% Tito. The top dog. The king of the drug world. He always gets what he wants and crossing him means death. 11: “Things that go bump in the night” There are no physical demons that Alana (or the others) deal with, but there is a lot of mental illness and trauma. Day 10 for #fantasyWIPoctober “World Mental Health Day: Any characters struggle with mental health.” Yup. In the Experiment X prequel Jack and Matt have PTSD, even if they don’t know it yet (as do the other Subjects). Ryan has anger issues and depression, and Liam suffers from some pretty severe depression. In the Immortal Curse, Markus has really severe depression. He’ll stop eating, isolates himself, drinks a lot, and shoots himself.
