So WOAH WOAH WOAH! Update!

I have been lucky enough to have the great OhSangwoo do a fan reading of everyone’s fav KS fanfic Family. Please check it out as it was very well done!

So far only the first 5 chapters have been read, but I’m sure that the rest will come out soon! I’m so happy that this was done, as it has added another layer to my first KS fanfic that allows many other KS fans enjoy.

Sangwoo’s Reaction to Bum’s Abuse

…is what I want to talk about.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about Sangwoo’s reaction to Bum explaining in detail how his uncle was sexually, and in general physically abusing him. The two panels above are our first direct reaction to what Bum has told Sangwoo, and what probably stands out to most people is the line:

“You had consensual sex, huh?”

Which is crucial in this context and will explain a big part of Sangwoo’s view on Bum’s situation.

First I want to explain why Sangwoo sees the rape as consensual sex:

These three panels give us the answer. Bum explicitly states that he did not resist at all, he “let it happen”. (I am not going to judge his reaction in any way, we are only talking about what happened as objectively as possible, because that’s very important to understand why Sangwoo is reacting the way he is.)

This passive reaction implies to Sangwoo that it was consensual, he sees it as Bum did not physically fight back, therefor he let it happen, he did not take action, did not attack his uncle, did not kill him. Bum could have tried to do that, but because he didn’t. Sangwoo calls it consensual.

This is supported by the panel above, Sangwoo tells us explicitly what he expects in a situation like this, because this is what he would have done. Sangwoo does not allow victimhood, he does not want to be a victim and has no understanding for others not acting the way he would.

Sangwoo’s expectations for Bum are not new at all, we have seen over the process of killing Jieun, that Sangwoo wants Bum to “free himself” from his abusers, because that’s exactly what Sangwoo did. Hearing that Bum did not do that causes his reaction of labeling it as consensual sex.

What that does to him has different layers:

There’s disappointment because it is the opposite of what Sangwoo has tried to “teach” Bum: Power, revenge, not being a victim of any kind. And hearing about an event like this, going against all of that, even in the past, must be very disappointing for him.

In addition to that, Bum is a “part of Sangwoo”, someone close to him, an extension, however you want to call it. Meaning if something like this happens to Bum, and Bum “lets himself be the victim” (as Sangwoo sees it), this might make feel Sangwoo like a victim too. Not directly, but he feels involved, which explains his intense reaction.

In earlier chapters we have seen that Sangwoo tried to elevate Bum’s status in front of his old classmate, tried to portray it as if Bum had a car and a good life, to make them both seem “better” because as a part of Sangwoo, Bum needs to be superior too. If Bum is inferior to others, it drags down Sangwoo, and that’s unacceptable.

Another possible aspect here is, that we still don’t know what exactly happened in terms of abuse with Sangwoo and his parents. The topic of sexual abuse is still unclear and it would add another aspect to his expectations of how Bum was supposed to react, because Sangwoo might see parts of his own experience, feeling a sense of victimization upon hearing about the abuse of someone else.

Sangwoo expects Bum to break free from his victimhood, to be more like Sangwoo, to do everything in his power to not be the victim, Bum failed to do that, this is what causes Sangwoo’s reaction.

I'm just not surprised. If you've ever read any of my ks fanfics, you'd probably expect that of me. This chapter was sad and gory, but not shocking. What I wanna see now is more of Sangwoo's backstory. See what his mom was like etc. Because although he's always been a dick, I want to know where it all began for him. I'm chewing over the part where he says "I thought you were gonna say you stabbed him, what was I thinking?" Do tell, Mr. Oh. What WERE you thinking? Back to when you were a teenager and just snapped from the abuse? After seeing the household bully getting taken down by your own hands? Or watching your mother take her own life through you? I wonder. There are gonna be some big changes after this chapter. (I'm just gonna call it now, I think Sangwoo’s mom was suicidal or something and Bum's attempt will toss him right back into the past. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Bum dies before this entire story is completed. By suicide or through Sangwoo, I got a feeling shit is gonna hit the fan pretty soon down the road.)

Thinking about chapter 25 and Bum's mom

I'm still stuck on the beginning of Bum's flashback. To be honest I wasn't really surprised at the rest of the chapter (other than granny knowing about the abuse and not doing anything about it) But I'm still bothered by the fact that Bum was arrested for doing something perverted and illegal (although I can't help but feel like the woman who was eager to settle for 3M set him up or something. Bum has that kind of bad luck) My mind is still chewing on this part because it means that he had already developed stalker/pervert issues before his uncle's SEXUAL abuse started. Seems like the physical abuse was always there. I can't help but wonder why he would develop this and when this flashback happened in relation to when he blew up on his female classmate. If Bum's parents died when he was very young, then all he knew was an abusive uncle and an apathetic grandmother. Obviously, he was not able to develop a healthy understanding of relationships and love. Is it possible that Bum stalked women who he felt looked like they could love/care for others? Who could potentially love or care for him? Maybe he saw love as equal to anything sexual? Or just anyone showing an act of kindness? My guess is that the lady said hi to him and he became obsessed. Overall I think the poor guy is just confused and was given a really shitty life, but could also have constantly searched for someone to replace the missing motherly figure in his life. It would amaze me if Koogi connected a mother fetish between Sangwoo and Bum. Even more if Sangwoo picked up on that and saw it as a way that he and Bum were even more alike than he thought.

Yoonsmolbean: oh thank god one last cake, Sangpoo won't kill me Yoonasshole: wow Bum, after all these years you still look like shit! I'm going to constantly barrage you with inappropriate comments and questions plus take the birthday cake that my gf said you can have because I'm a dick. Sangpoo: Hey cousin that I have a completely platonic relationship with, hurry up and get the cake. Oh it's this guys anniversary? Eat rocks or shit jfc, go fuc urself Yoonasshole: what? You scared? Sangpoo: Bitch, hold my coat. Yoonsmolbean: *gets enough courage to try shut Yoonasshole up, loses all motor function and fails cringingly while still being adorable* *Yoonasshole defeated* Sangpoo: gimme dat cake, lets go home Bum, I'm fucking livid. Take Responsibility Extended Ending 

Bum sobbed underneath the basement's hanging light bulb. The yellowish light and his blurry vision obscured his view of the love of his life bleeding to death on the floor.

 His omega.

 Mother of his only child.

 Currently choking on their own blood.

 “S-sangwoo--hic--no. Nooo. No. This--this isn't happening--”

 Bum felt a gentle hand wipe at his tears.

 “You’re right, Bum. It’s not happening.”

 Bum looked up but was momentarily blinded from the lightbulb.

 S-sangwoo? No, this is Sung-hyun. Sung-hyun who killed--!

 Calloused thumbs swiped his tears away, but Bum flinched from the gentle hands.

 "Sung-hyun! How could you do this?! W-why would you--hurt him? Give him back!"

 He thrashed his head side to side, his body strained against the rope tied around his middle and the back of the wooden chair, "G-get away from me! Untie me!"

 Sung-hyun caught his face between his hands again, holding Bum's head firm so that he couldn't move, "Ow! L-let go of me!"

 "No. Be quiet, Bum. Listen to me. Stop moving, Bumie, and listen to me."

 Bum threw his head back and stared at the lightbulb above him, circles danced across his vision as tears fell down his cheeks.

 How could this happen? Forever...we were supposed to be...forever together...

 "Bum? Can you hear me? Close your eyes, babe. Can you do that for me?"

 "Sung-hyun...why..?"

 "Because that's what you do when you love someone. You listen to what they say. No matter what. So be quiet and just close your eyes."

 Bum let his eyelids slowly close.

 What am I going to do now? Sangwoo...he can't be really gone. He just can't...

 Bum felt thumbs gently press over his closed eyes. "Wha-what are you--?!"

 "Shhh. Listen to my voice, Bum. You know this voice, it’s very familiar, isn't it?"

 ...Sangwoo?

 He felt the thumbs rub light circles over his eyelids.

 "And my hands? They're strong and large, aren't they? You know these hands, don't you, babe?"

 I do, I do know these hands...whose are they...?

 "I want you to forget about this night, forget about everything you ever knew before this night happened. Can you do that? Can you do that for me, Bumie?"

 I'm so confused. Is Sangwoo talking to me? Who is this?

 "Bum? I need you to use your words like a big boy. Can you forget everything that happened tonight? For me? Hm?"

 "Yes. Yes, I can forget everything."

 "Good. I'm so glad to hear that."

 "Who am I talking to--?"

 "Shh. I'm going to count to three and then I'll let you open your eyes. You'll know who I am when I do that, alright my love?"

 I don't know what's happening anymore...Is Sangwoo playing a trick on me?

 "Bum. Do you understand what I just said?"

 "...Yes."

 "Alright. Listen to my voice."

 What was everything I just saw? Was that...real?

 "One."

 Sangwoo...he was bleeding...wasn't he?

 "Two."

 But isn't this Sangwoo before me? Or is it not?

 "Three."

 I'll just have to see for myself. When I open my eyes, I'll know.

 The thumbs lifted off Bum's eyelids and he slowly opened them.

 He briefly saw circles dance before his eyes again before he was able to focus on the person before him.

 His breath left him in a whoosh as he stared up at the man's face.

 "Sangwoo! Oh, thank god! I thought something bad had happened to you! You're not hurt?"

 Sangwoo stared down at him, unblinking. After a moment, he smiled down at Bum.

 "That's right, Bum. It's me. Sangwoo. Do I look hurt to you? You really need your eyes checked, haha."

 "But--! But I thought I saw--!"

 Sangwoo grabbed his jaw, "What did you just promise me, Bum? You said you would forget."

 Oh no, I made him mad.

 "I did! I did forget! I forgot everything!"

 Sangwoo glared at him for a moment before removing his hand from Bum's jaw.

 "S-sangwoo, I don't understand. Why-why did you tie me up? It's too tight, let me go..."

 "Oh, I'm sorry about that, babe. You were just acting so strange tonight, I had no idea what you were going to do next."

 "I-I was?"

 Sangwoo nodded as he worked at untying Bum, "You were. I could hardly get you to calm down. Good thing you didn't hurt yourself."

 I must have really done something crazy for him to tie me up like this...

 Sangwoo pulled the rope off of Bum's body.

 "Alright, ready to go upstairs?"

 Bum nodded eagerly, his sore arms reached forward to wrap around Sangwoo's neck, but Sangwoo stopped him.

 "Before I take you upstairs, you have to promise me something else."

 "Y-yes?"

 "While I carry you upstairs, you have to keep your eyes closed. If you so much as take a little peek, I will lock you down here all week. Got it?"

 Bum quickly threw his hands over his eyes.

 "I-I won't open them!"

 Bum felt himself being lifted into the air, "Good job, Bum. You seem like you deserve a reward for being so good today."

 Heat rose to Bum's cheeks as he thought about the reward he could expect to get. I hope it's something nice...It's been awhile since he touched me.

 When they reached the bedroom at the top of the basement stairs, Sangwoo placed Bum on his feet.

 "Alright, you can open your eyes now."

 Bum looked around the dark room. Nothing was out of the ordinary.

 Sangwoo closed the basement hatch door and the slid the closet door shut after that.

 "You hungry, Bum?"

 Bum's stomach was filled with swarming knots. An uneasy feeling sat at the bottom of his stomach, he didn't think he would be able to eat anything right now.

 "...No."

 "Good. How about you get your reward then? Lay down on the bed."

 Oh? Is he...? It's been so long.

 Bum eagerly laid down on the bed. Sangwoo joined him shortly, staring down at him from his raised elbow.

 Is he going to do something? Why is he just staring at me?

 "Bum...show me. Show me what you want me to do to you."

 What? He's never asked me to do that before.

 Bum played with the hem of his shirt, "Y-you know what I want..."

 "I'm not a fucking mind-reader, Bum. Now show me. I want to make you feel good."

 "Huh?" He wants me to feel good? But he's never...

 "You deserve it, after all these years of you taking care of me, I want to return the favor. Now show me where you want me to touch you."

He’s actually serious…? Maybe this time he’ll actually…

Completely embarrassed, Bum's hand slid down and between his legs. Sangwoo leaned over his lower half so he could see where Bum was pointing to.

 "You want me to touch you there?"

 "I know you said it was disgusting, b-but I really want you to p-put it in here..."

 Sangwoo stared down at him. Bum was so embarrassed that he closed his eyes.

 I should have never said that; he's just going to say I'm gross. I just know it.

 Bum was shocked when he felt Sangwoo's lips cover his. The kiss started out slow but quickly grew into a passionate make out session.

When they finally came up for air, Sangwoo began to undress Bum, "You don't know how long I've waited for this moment, Bum. I can't wait to be inside you."

 W-wait he's really going to?

 Bum just clung onto Sangwoo as he hurriedly undressed him. He placed soft kisses wherever he could, heart squeezing at how gentle Sangwoo was suddenly treating him.

 Yes, this is what I always wanted.

 Sangwoo pushed his legs apart as he bit Bum's neck.

 This is what I wanted, but something--something feels wrong.

 Bum let the uneasy feeling leave him as he cried out in pleasure when Sangwoo finally gave him what he wanted.

Brothers from another AU

If you’ve read both of my first Killing Stalking fanfics, then you’ve probably noticed that they are complete opposites of one another. 

Obsessive Sung-hyun (Left, Take Responsibility) is a direct foil to guilt-ridden Ji-Hun (Right, Family). But both characters are connected by their love for one man. As twisted as those loves may seem. 

I really love this picture, because to me, it really embodies what both stories were about. It also shows how the characters and settings can stay the same, but change a few circumstances and the outcome is completely different.
