Shazam Crackfic (#3): A Shazam x Nachtwacht crossover

A crossover with a Belgium show I used to watch as a kid.

So basically this show: Nachtwacht (Nightguard) is about a vampire, a werewolf and an elf that protects this little town that is situated on a lay line that directly links to the underworld, and every episode a monster finds it’s way into the human realm to wreak havoc on the citizens, the Nachtwacht or (in some cases) the world. They are a secret organization with their own magical lair and nobody knows that they are magical creatures.

So… Magical Creatures… Shazam…

BINGO!!

Basically a Nachtwacht episode where they stumble upon Captain Marvel fighting one of the monsters that escaped the underworld (idk Mr. Mind tried to free it). Keelin (the elf) sees his magical prowess and, understandably, wants to leave the situation alone. Wilko (the werewolf) wants to go in and stop both “monsters” and be done with it and Vladimir (the vampire) were holds him from doing so.

They get back to their lair where the three report to Vega (their mentor, a Faun, who is trapped in a book, don't question it), who recognizes the champion from the description and informs them of who he is. Basically: Do Not Intervene, this is the real deal!

Meanwhile a disguised Captain Marvel is doing a stakeout in the town as Mr. Mind got away and Billy can’t exactly speak Flemmish, so he is kind of forced to stay in his champion form. Keelin recognizes his aura and is kind of torn if she should stay out of his lane or say something, but the guy is very nice to the other staff in the café, so for now she keeps a close eye on him but decides not to directly intervene with his job.

Que the monster showing up, a meetup between the Nachtwacht and Captain Marvel, a little bit of conflict before realizing: Hey the other party is actually kind of cool. They fight Mr. Mind and the monster together. The Nachtwacht banishes the monster, Captain Marvel captures Mr. Mind. Conflict over!!

Would be fun to end it with Captain Marvel meeting Vega or something. Have that poor man freak out because “OMG the freaking champion is in our humble base of operation.” And Cap is just having a great time learning about magical creatures that the Nachtwacht have faced before and overall being a good sport about the whole situation.

99% of you all don’t know squat about the show, so this was just self-indulged fun, but IDC this is my blog so… sod off if you hate fun or something.

The non-binary Captain Marvel Thunder

A bit late for Pride month, but eh, never to late to bring stuff under the attention of others.

Anyway. The community has quite a lot of LGBTQ+ headcanons for the Shazam family. Trans Billy, Gay Freddy, Lesbian Mary, ect. ect.

But guys, let me introduce you to Captain Thunder. The champion of the Flashpoint universe. Or, in my opinion, the best contender we have for an canonical non-binary version of Captain Marvel.

For those not in the know. Captain Thunder was introduced in the Flashpoint story line and played a minor (but still important) roll in the story.

In this universe, rather then six gods granting powers to one kid, the concept is turned on his head. Now six kids (the ones that we now know as the Shazamily) all have the attributes of one god each and, by saying Shazam, combine into one hero: Captain Thunder.

So basically, we have one person. With their own personality and such, made up of the atributes of six people. Two of which are CIS woman.

Captain Thunder is a ripe candidate to be a non-binary, masuline presenting superhero guys! Or am I just rambling like crazy?!

And you may be asking: Florawriting. They are masculine presenting.

1: there are masculine presenting non-binary folk and 2: Captain Thunder has only excited during an all out world war between two mysical powerhouse nations. Cap has a huge scar on his face thanks to that. There wasn't exactly time to establish to the world that they rather want people to use they/them pronounces.

"He's a WHAT?"

Frick it, more Billy is a god AU(?). I have an absolute love hate relationship with Fury of the Gods and I want to spread the love section gods dammit

Wouldn't it be funny if literally nobody knew that Billy was a god?

Like, everybody kind of knows that Shazam (he started going by that name after the wizard gave him permission to do so) is younger then he actually looks.

Some important people, like Waller, some JSA members, Wonder Woman, and probably Batman know his real identity.

But his godhood. No, that seems to be between him, his family, and the other two gods: Anthea and Diana. It also isn't that he kept that secret close to his chest or anything, but it usually doesn't come up in conversations and his godly duties are basically no different then his duties as the Champion.

Just imagine a year or so in the future there comes this ancient beast that starts rampaging, and Aquaman finds an ancient atlantian proficy that basically states: a god will come by and slay it. Back in the day there were a dozon of gods, so nobody worried about the thing. But in this day and age, they are pretty much screwed.

Until Shazam showed up

Shazam: Batman, sir, I had gotten a message that I should help out here?

Batman *slightly suprised*: I am unsure if you can help much Shazam. This monster can only be slayed by a god. So we are now trying to subdue it and chain it to the bottom of the ocean.

Shazam looks a bit confused, his eyes drifting to Wonder Woman, who is currently batteling the beast.

Batman: Wonder Woman is a goddess. While she can do great damage, she can not slay it.

Shazam *cracking his knuckles*: Damm mysogonists Alright, this should be done in a minute or so.

And with that he flies into battle

Batman watches him with growing confusion, and meets with Diana on the battle field.

Batman: I see you have called in back-up

WW: We were getting nowhere Bruce. I suspected we needed to call in the cavalery

Batman: I wasn't aware you had his number. Hasn't he joined the JSA recently

WW: After the attack of the daughters of Atlas, we decided that it might be better for the gods to keep contact with each other. As a first line of defense and as a way to support each other emotionally in our duties.

Batman *detective mode activated*: Wait, Shazam is a what?

Que a shockwave from something falling into the water. Both Batman and Wonder Woman turn to see the beast, defeated, falling towards the bottom of the ocean. Shazam flying in the air doing a celebetroy whoop and fist pump.

It was probably time for Batman to add that to his file.

"Move out of the way Peasant"

This is actually my 50th post! So ofcourse I am going to do it about the Billy is a god AU(?). I love that universe.

I sometimes wonder how weird it must be for Billy to go to school again after the whole dome-accident that happened in Fury of the Gods.

Like, he killed a vengeful god, he DIED, he got revived, HE ASSENDED INTO GODHOOD! and now he is just supposed to go back to school in a week or two and act like nothing happened?

Just imagine, he goes to his first day of school after everything and before lunch even comes around Brett and Bruke Bryers come by because they just can't give your foster brother a break. How would that work out?

Bruke: Hey Freeman, is it true? Did you go to the stadium and cry for your little hero friend to come back?

Billy *Absolutely fucking done with everything* Batson giving him a right hook: Move out of the way peasant.

The Bryers were too embarrassed to tell anyone thus Billy never got in trouble ;)

My headcanon mixed universe shazam timeline

You may absolutely steal

This is a long one, buckle up

Billy (4ish years old)

The Batson family is planning a work/vacation holiday in the region of Kahndaq in Egypt. However, Billy becomes bedridden by an illness and is unable to join them, thus staying behind under the eye of Ebenezer. In Kahndaq Billy’s parents and sister die on the excavation site, leaving Billy orphaned. Not willing to deal with the boy Ebenezer throws Billy into foster care.

Mary (4ish years old)

Mary is found in Kahndaq and brought back to the USA, where she is adopted by the Bromfields through less then legal means. The Bromfields decide not to tell Mary about her adoption status.

Billy (end 8 to begin 9ish years old)

After being placed from foster home to foster home Billy has had enough of the whole circus and decides to run away. Together with his new foster brother and best friend Freddy, a disabled kid who has been suffering in the system as well, they escape.

Mary (begin 9ish years old)

Having endured the physical and emotional abuse from the Bromfields for long enough, Mary decides to run away. After being found sleeping on the sidewalk by the police she is taken in by the foster care system and is placed in the household of Rosa and Victor Vasquez.

Billy (10ish years old)

After another attempt to help someone ends with him being chased down by cops he finds himself in the Rock of Eternity, where the wizard deems him pure of heart and able to become his champion. Billy, now an adult superhero named Captain Marvel, becomes the sole protector of Fawcett before branching out to the rest of the municipality of Philadelphia.

Billy keeps this a secret from Freddy for about half a year until he is forced to reveal it. Freddy is a bit betrayed at first that Billy had not told him earlier, but turns around quickly and covers for Billy if necessary.

Billy & Freddy (11ish years old and 12ish years old)

Billy and Freddy start doing odd jobs for Whiz RTV, like selling newspapers. This gives them a small income to get food legally. The two of them also occasionally use the Rock of Eternity as shelter during cold nights.

During a battle with a villain (any can do except Black Adam) Freddy get’s injured. Unsure what to do, Billy goes to the Wizard and pleads to safe him. The Wizard, having seen Freddy before during his evenings at the Rock, instructs Billy to give a portion of his power to Freddy, turning him into Captain Marvel Jr. This leads to the two of them fighting crime together.

Billy & Freddy (begin 13 and end 13 years old)

Freddy’s leg is flaring up in pain again, and as it isn’t a one time injury, the power of Captain Marvel can not fix it. Freddy is forced to turn himself in to go to the hospital, much to Billy’s dismay. Freddy reminds him that if something goes wrong he is only two words away from freedom. Freddy and Billy part ways, both promising each other to check up when able to.

Billy starts to do more things on his own, he formally joins ether the JL or the JSA, he starts living more at the Rock of Eternity, he discovers more about his job as the champion of magic, all the while still making time to visit the sick children at all of Philly’s hospitals.

Freddy (14 years old)

After a while in the hospital Freddy needs to strengthen up before he can resume most of his activities, because of this he allows himself to be fostered by the only home that was willing to take him: Rosa and Victor Vasquez. However, the longer her stays, the nicer the house begins to feel. He becomes well acquainted with his foster siblings: Pedro, Mary, Eugene and Darla and even feels comfortable enough to invite Billy over sometimes, under the guise of him being a friend from school.

During this time he slowly starts going back to the roll of Captain Marvel Jr. He does truly take it slow, as he doesn’t want his condition to get worse.

Billy (begin 14 years old)

Billy is happy to have Freddy back, but is still skeptical about his living situation. However, from his observations he believes that Rosa and Victor are good for his friend so he lets it be. He also becomes closer with the other foster kids at the house. In particular with Mary, who he somehow feels a strong connection to.

Billy & Freddy (14 years old and begin 15 years old)

Billy and Freddy are faced by a new powerful foe named Black Adam. A shadow from the Wizard’s past that has come back to haunt them. Through certain events Billy learns what really happened the day his parents died and what involvement both Dr. Sivana (the one that financed the excavation) and Black Adam (the one that made the tomb collabs, albeit accidentally) had during the event. He also realizes that his sister Mary had actually survived the collabs and that she was in fact the Mary from the Vasquez home.

The two race to the Vasquez home to explain to Mary what had happened. While Mary first doesn’t believe them, as she has been told she was the Bromfield’s biological daughter for all her life, there is something nagging within her that was Billy is saying is right.

However, not long after Black Adam has come a similar revelation. He finds Mary, both for bait for Captain Marvel, but also because of personal interest of his revival. He also takes Pedro, Eugene and Darla with him as extra bait, as they were all there at the same time.

Cap and Jr. try their hardest to safe all of them, but find themselves being overwhelmed by the task. During a last ditch effort to safe his sister, Billy let’s out a large thunderstorm. Which shares his power both with his sister, and accidentally with the Pedro, Eugene and Darla as well. Now with the six of them, Black Adam is overwhelmed and beaten. Mary truly reunites with her brother, now that she knows everything that happened.

Billy (end 14 years old)

After the fight Pedro, Eugene and Darla lost their powers, however somehow Mary’s remained. Billy goes to the wizard for guidance, who says that his strong familial bond with Mary allows her to tap into the powers of Shazam when desired. Mary is a bit hesitant to become a full time hero, but does help out sometimes under the name Mary Marvel. Her foster siblings help her keep her secret and assist the marvels when necessary.

During this time Mary convinces Billy to come live with the Vasquez, as living on the street is not doing him good. Billy is very skeptical at first, as his prior experiences with foster homes have been very bad, but eventually reveals himself to be homeless and Mary’s brother to the Vasquez. After a long legal battle against Ebenezer and a DNA test, Billy and Mary are officially recognized as siblings and their parents inheritance is restored.

Billy (15ish to 16ish years)

Billy continues to grow closer to everyone in the family. Considering his long time best friend Freddy and Pedro, Eugene and Darla his siblings together with Mary. Because of this, his familial connection begins to shift. Instead of sharing the power of Shazam with Mary and his power with Freddy, Freddy starts being able to tap into the power of Shazam directly. The others follow soon after.

Because of this change, Freddy drops the title of Captain Marvel Jr. He is also now around 16 to 17 and thinks that the name doesn’t really fit him anymore. Pedro, Eugene and Darla are collectively dubbed the lieutenants by the media, but separately choose to take a name that doesn’t interfere with the Marvel title. Instead going by Thunder, Circuit and Bolt. Freddy decides to joint the bandwagon and names himself Voltage, although Billy does sometimes still jokingly call him Jr.

The Shazamily (Billy is mid to end 16)

Something happens that forces everyone to reveal their identities to Rosa and Victor. Both of them are shocked, but were suspecting something was off. They reaffirm their love for their foster children and become allies to the Shazamily, giving guidance when necessary.

Finding a pet for Freddy

Look, it is a very interesting question alright? I mean, Billy has Tawney, Mary has Hoppy, so what does Freddy have.

Funnily enough, the question is not so easy, mostly because he has been paired with quite a few animals over the years. He had a dog, he had a parrot, I believe he even had a monkey once. But non of them have stuck around to actually become populair and be linked to Freddy.

I normally would have stopped the post there. Make it just a silly little post introducing the idea. But then I remembered he actually was paired with an animal side kick very recently in one shot story.

This is part two of a series where I assign god titles to the Shazamily members. You can read it without reading part one, but if you want to see Billy, Mary and Freddy: Press here!

Pedro: God of Acceptance and Practicality

This one was the hardest of them all, mostly because Pedro is the only one with introverted tendencies in a group of mostly extroverts. So I had to delve into the comics in hopes of getting something. And I think I got it.

First off Acceptance: this one was easy. This one is mostly linked to his (rather unconventional) coming out. You can see that it was very hard for him as he was very unsure about it in the beginning of the movie, so hard that I like to believe that it was hard for him to accept it himself. Not only that, from what we see of him he seems like a very accepting guy. There are quite a few examples where he accepts the situation as it is and tries to be useful despise it.

This leads into practicality, which in this context is a mixture between reliability, caution and realism. This is mostly from the comics, but glimpse of these traits are seen in the movies as well. First off, Pedro is shown to be someone that rather speaks with actions then with words, using all his available abilities to complete the task. Yet he is also realistic about his abilities and speaks of caution when he believes something is not going to work. Because of this he is very effective, thus making him a prime candidate for the domain of practicality. (added note, I think this is the title that he gains out of his ascending moment)

Eugene: God of Connection and Technology

On the other side of the spectrum, this one was the easiest. Let's start with Technology, which, well, is such an important domain in the current day and age that a god was basically necessary at this point. But also, Eugene actually has technopathy in the comics. This was never explored in the movies so let's make it his ascending moment. He learned how to mix magic with technology and with it was able to safe humanity of a threat.

You might think that Connection is just an extension of technology (because haha you connect to something with Bluetooth or you connect a power cable) but that actually isn't the case. In Shazamily Matters (the tie in for FOTG) it is actually revealed why Eugene was considered a hard case, it was because before the Vasquez he was never able to connect to anyone. Hack, it is shown that his connection to Rosa is finicky at best. Eugene clung to Video Games as he felt it was the only place where he could connect to something, I believe that it would have become an addiction if it wasn't for the Vasquez who were willing to take a real chance on him. He may have a lot to learn about forming and maintaining real (human) connection, but that would only make him an even better candidate for that domain. (also go read that short story it is actually so good and one of the best characterization’s of Eugene)

Darla: Goddess of Beasts and creativity

This was one hard in another way, because there were so many domains that would fit well that it was hard to just choose two. I feel that she would do an Apollo and just dabbles in a lot of things, but eventually these two felt the most correct.

Beasts is a title for all types of animals that inhabit the different realms. From small fluffy kittens to deadly unicorns. We have seen her handle both extreme's and I think that that knack for beasts will definitely evolve as she learns more about them. This title would also come from her ascending moment, be it that she tamed some ramped beast or commanded an army of them to fight against a thread.

Creativity, on the other hand, would go in line with her personality. In both movies she likes to create stuff (the poster for Billy and the diagram of a Mongolian battle) and she is more pacifistic when it comes to fighting, which leads to more creative ways of defeating villains.

Bonus: Rosa and Victor: Gods of parental love and guidance

Look: historical scholars are not always right. It happens sometimes that one makes a conclusion based on the available evidence that later turned out to be false. I can imagine a scenario where years in the future scholars are trying to streamline the history of the new Greek pantheon and find notes that mention Rosa and Victor. Not really sure who they were historically, they try to find other accounts of these two and find records where they were asked for advice, permission or to be a shoulder to lean on. Misunderstanding the point that most gods in that period were just ascended humans they incorrectly assume that these were two minor gods that supported the main pantheon like two parental figures, so they were dubbed the gods of parental love and guidance.

Nobody that is still alive from the new pantheon is going to correct them anyway. Honestly, they find it nice that their late guardians are immortalized in such a way.

So, I have been writing things for the Billy is canonically a god (au?) thingy for a while (press the tag to see everything) and I started to wonder. What would Billy actually be the god of? Scrap that, what would each Shazamily member be the god(des) of? So here my personal headcanons.

Billy: God of Companionship and Sacrifice

I personally came in with the idea of having at least one title for their act that assended them into godhood and one that fits their personality. For Billy it was pretty obvious that Sacrifice had to be one of them. He willingly sacrificed himself to protect humanity knowing full well that he would die. Companionship was chosen because of his journey throughout the movies. Going from first not wanting to have companionship at all to being too scared to let it go in fear he would be alone again. I feel that as someone who has been in two extremes, he would be a good fit to embody (all of) it.

Mary: Goddess of Perseverance and Altruism

I chose perseverance for two reasons. One, I believe her ascending moment would include something where she had to painstakingly had to do something for a long time to save the day. Which leads to Two: a lot of actions we see her do in the movies show her perseverance. She got into Caltech (but turned it down) and Oxford not because she has super-intelligence, but through hard work and religious study. In FOTG she took odd jobs to help sustain the family financially even tho she herself was struggling with her own dilemma’s.

This brings to altruism which, for those who don't know, is "selfless concern for the well-being of others, without care for one's own interests". Mary displays this constantly by choosing not to go to Caltech to support the others in their superhero endeavors and juggling jobs to ensure income for her parents. To a point where it is tearing her life apart (as seen in FOTG and it's deleted scene's). Another reason I chose this was because altruism is a form of sacrifice and I wanted a connection between Billy and Mary seeing as they are twins in the earlier comics.

Freddy: God of Freedom and the Mind

I feel like i need to explain the Mind a bit, so let's start with that one. In an earlier post I mentioned how overpowered Freddy actually is for a so called "crippiled" boy. Having managed to both resist Kalypso's and Landor's power for a prolong period of time, both having brought people down on their knees in mere milliseconds. I am also fully in camp: Freddy is a gifted ADHD kid with a superhero hyperfocus which goes well with the mind theme I am going for.

It is also the attribute that I believe is named after his ascending moment. Having werestood something that even the others with the courage of Achilles couldn't handle.

Freedom is I think pretty self explanatory. One, he would absolutely want it just for the fact that Free is in his last name and he would find that hilarious. But also because a lot of his character is centered about the fact that he longs for the freedom his superhero form provides him. The theme is in both movies, so I believe it would fit as a core part of his character.

Snippet Sunday! @cakypa120 posted an idea about Rosa and Victor gaining Marvel powers and its been knocking around in my head for a bit. Here is the set up so far:

Darla sighed into her potatoes sadly for the fifth time since sitting down, and that was when Rosa knew she had to do something. It was the twelfth day since the latest apocalypse-this one magical in origin. And thus, it has been eight day since anyone in the family had heard from Mary, Billy, and Freddy outside of thier mandatory "I'm still alive" phone call that never last more than five minutes due to the research Batman is demanding to help prevent this in the future, or to at least mitigate the damages if nothing else. A noble goal, but one that was keeping their family apart.

Rosa shared a look with her husband as they cleared the dishes. Eugene and Pedro had morosely set up their two-player video game for their alloted after dinner hour before they had to get ready for bed, while Darla was slumped next to them reading a book so she could get top stars in school for reading the most over break. Only she was sighing heavily into it more that parsing the pages.

"That's it." Rosa said as she threw down the drying towel, "Kids, behave yourselves. Pedro, you are in charge of your siblings until your father and I get back." That at least got them perking up a bit as they all followed her to the front door, all asking over themselves where they were going as they watch their parents put on their shoes and jackets. Though the questions were soon answered as instead of the front door, Rosa and Victor went to the closet that led to the Rock of Eternity. "I am going to demand that Wizard summon Billy, Freddy and Mary back so we can at least enjoy one movie night with all of us together." Rosa said resolutely.

"When we get back, we will pull out all the stops. Popcorn, ice cream, pillowforts. We will even let everyone stay up extra late." Victor bargained with the remaining children, "You three will even get first pick on the movies for not worrying us so much."

"Mom, dad, you can't just make the Wizard do things!" Eugene tried to explain, "Everything is a riddle with that guy, and he keeps saying that he doesn't have enough power to do anything more than to make some light shows!"

"Aren't they doing important work up in the Watchtower? And that's why they can't come see us? Won't taking them away from that delay them even more?" Darla asked with a slight lip wobble. She knew her siblings had to be working hard to get back to them, so she had to be a big girl and wait for them even though she missed them enough to fill the entire Rock of Eternity, maybe even the Rock of Infinity too!

"I don't care. The Wizard can help us bring them back, or there is something on that blasted rock that can do it for us." Rosa said as she opened the door and took a step into the rocky cavern. She didn't visit often, as the concept of walking from her house into an ancient space always wigged her out. But she would endure for her children. Victor stayed shortly behind to quickly go over the rules before closing the door and catching up to her.

Together, they walked into the throne room. They both looked firmly forwards, avoiding the gazes and whispers of the Sins to their left. Not out of any temptation, but to make sure they didn't get sidetracked spitting and cursing at the demons who had threatened their kids. "Wizard!" Rosa called out when she saw that he wasn't on his throne. She and Victor both called out for a coule of minutes before he finally appeared.

"I heard you the first time you called out." He said, "Now, what brings you two to teh Rock? Especially without the Champion or his Chosen?"

"We want you to summon Billy, Freddy and Mary back to us so we can see our kids." Rosa stated. She wasn't sure the protocol around asking favors from a wizard, let alone The Wizard, but she figured that bluntly would do just fine. Besides that, he asked. If he wanted platitudes before hand, that was on him for not making that apparent.

The Wizard stroked his beard as he said, "I cannot do that. Mayhaps if they were simple mortal humans, I could garner enough power, but with the power of Champions running through their veins, it is outside of anything I can do in my current state."

Victor took a step forwards, "How about any artifacts? Surely you have collected something over the years that can be used to summon them?"

"Again, sadly nothing that could withstand the might of a Champion, let alone three. Why must you summon them? All are on this plane of existance, and even this solar system. Surely they will come if you call." The Wizard inquired.

Rosa huffed, "You would think so. But all three of them have been commandeered by Batman for the past twelve days to help fight and help clean up after a magic apocalypse. Didn't you sense that? Anyways, the Justice League has their International team working Billy's normal patrol, so I don't think they plan of releasing them anytime soon."

The Wizard nodded in understanding, "I did sense the surge in Magic all those days ago, and the purifying of the hotspots left over by the tears in the universe to get here. But the Champions have finished their work ereyesterday, what is delaying them then?"

Rosa and Victor said "Batman" at the same time. "He is hoping the kids can help stop the next magic apocalyspe or find a way to detect it sooner and is making them do a ton of research with the rest of the Justice League Dark members." Victor continued to explain.

"No one can stop these magical invasions anymore that one can stop a bird from flying," the Wizard said decisively, "And creating a spell to detect them would take centuries of work with the amount of variability used to grant access to a different universe. Even then, events would still slip by and happen unannounced."

Rosa groaned, "It will take Batman weeks before he releases them then! Even if we tell Billy tomorrow about that, Batman won't accept that answer, and all three of them don't want to disappoint him without trying anyways."

The Wizard nodded sagely at the frustration, "Of what you have asked me to do, I cannot help. But there may be another way to bring them home. Place your hands on my staff." He asked of the parents standing in front of him.

"Uhhmm?" Victor vocalized uncomfortablely as he wrapped an arm around his wife and had them take a step back. The Wizard, notably, was not carrying a staff.

"Sorry, sorry. After five thousand years, that phrase is a force of habit." He clarified, "If you take my hand and say my name, I will grant the two of you temporary access to my powers. Afterall, disapppointing this Batman will not hold a candle to disappointing ones parents when they are right in front of you, I am betting." The Wizard held his hands out, palms up waiting. Rosa and Victor shared a look with each other before doing as asked.

As one, they said, "Shazam!"

Wait! When exactly did Billy become a god?

Look I was thinking about the Fury Of The Gods and the DCEU again, because for as flawed as that movie is, the lore is so freaking interesting that I just can't get it out of my head.

Anyway, there are two "Laws" about gods:

Only a god can kill a god (as stated in Wonder Woman)

A god can be revived by another god (as stated in FOTG)

When watching the movie, one would probably assume that Billy ascended to godhood the second he died, as that is the moment Hespera acknowledge that Billy is a true god. However, if this was the case then that would clash with rule number one.

So, when did he actually become a god?

I believe there are three distinct moments where it could have happened.

The moment he accepts that the only way to stop Kalypso is to sacrifice himself.

The moment where he let's go of his family and starts the battle with Kalypso

the very last second before doing the finishing blow.

And i thought "that would be the end of it..."

Oh how naïve I was...

You see, earlier in the movie it is stated that the council of wizards have killed all the gods and took their power. And we know they actually killed them because we see that Hespera, Kalypso and Anthea survived for over thousand years even without their powers. But, Shazam and the other wizards aren't gods! So what exactly count's as "a god killing a god?"

Did the council take a few powers and used that against the others, meaning that a godly power is enough to take out a god? or is somebody stripped of their godhood when they lose their powers? (I personally believe the first one, as Atlas daughters were able to live for at least 6000 years even tho they didn't have their powers for at least thousand of those years. Meaning that God is a species and a title)

But if this was the case, then Billy could have killed Kalypso without being a god, as he held the powers of one, before actually ascending to be revived by Diana later.

"What do you mean you were holding back?!"

The score had been settled! The Flash was crowned to truly be the fastest man alive after he won the JL's "around the world" sponsor run. It had been a great day to raise awareness and money for many philanthropic causes, and the fact that Barry was getting a lot of praise didn't hurt ether. Surely, it was a high to ride for years to come.

A couple years later Barry was making his morning stroll (or more so morning sprint cross country) when suddenly somebody kept pace with him. He looked to his left to see one of Captain Marvel's newer sidekicks, Bolt, run along side him. Barry didn't know much about the young adult that dawned a purple and more athletic version of Cap's signature suit, only that she was a lot like Cap in his earlier, more starry-eyed, days with twice the energy to boot. So naturally, the two decided to do a friendly race.

and he was left in the dust!

(She gave him something to eat with her pocket money as a participation price tho, which Barry really couldn't complain about after the exercise)

A few days later after a JL meeting Barry took Captain Marvel aside to ask some questions:

Flash: "So Cap, quick question, you like... share different aspects of your power between your siblings right?"

Cap *slightly confused*: "Uhm... Yeah? Look, but I can only do it with famili..."

Flash: *interrupts him*: "And these aspects are slightly less powerful versions of superpowers you hold, correct?"

Cap: "It more so is that I become less powerful as I share a finite pool of power between more people, soooo... kinda correct?"

Flash: "The point is, anything you siblings can do you can do it too."

Cap *fully confused*: "Where are you going with this?

Flash signs in defeat, deciding to just pull of the bandage.

Flash: "Cap, how much have you been holding back?"

I was doing some inventorying of my writing W.I.P.'s to do another back up soon (man there is a lot of unfinished stuff in there) and came across an old Shazam Fanfic I wrote when I was around 14/15 about an OC. The well known: "it's a retelling of the movie but with an OC added to the mix" story that was populair on Wattpad when the first movie came out.

And, well, I like to add old OC's as background characters if I need a random person that needs pointing out (a food delivery guy, an aquaintance somebody mentions off-handedly, ect.). So, for the fun of it, I thought "Let's count all the OC's you have made that had something to do with Shazam! That won't be much, right?"

I have 23 Shazam OC's. Not counting their families or people they seround themselves with. No, these 23 characters are actually developed and had important roles in the universes they came from.

Gods, with this amount of people I could make a reunion in real life!

Maybe I should just edit the thing 14 year old me wrote. Give life to at least one of them.

Shazam CrackFics (#2): Eugene the reluctant Mythhunter* (name still pending)

Eugene was secretly kind of glad to go back to having a normalish life. Sure, it was fun to be a superhero for a while, but there are a lot of disadvantages to it all and it kind of became tireing.

That doesn't mean he wasn't gratefull for the experience. The technopathy alone had given him knowledge and experience beyond his years. But he rather was spending his time fighting against bots then fighting against criminals.

No, from now on he would go out, enjoy life, take those extra classes at the community college, finish highschool and become a great engene... oh son of a bitch.

Not much later he was guiding a few of his (IDIOT) classmates through the school who had the bright idea to wake up one of Fawcett's many monsters "for science!". Luckily for them, Eugene had actually fought this one before during his time as a Champion and cobbled together a plan to banish it. Which the ragtag group of students managed to complete.

Impressed with Eugene abilities they introduce themselves as the Mythhunters* (*name still pending). A bootleg Mystery Inc. out to discover the weirdness of Fawcett! Eugene couldn't help but facepalm.

In a tired tone no 14 year old should have Eugene tried to explain that they were practically asking to be cursed, banished or killed but the Mythhunters were hearing non of it. Not wanting to indirectly have blood on his hands, Eugene reluctantly agree's to help them discover the source of that monster. "But only this once!"

Since then Eugene had become the reluctant strategist of the group. Commanding the team with experience from his days as the champion or information he had searched up in secret at the Library of Eternity. The others happily follow him, as they realized that they actually have no idea what to do most of the time.

Are they suspicious of Eugene's seemingly infinite knowledge about these threats, oh absolutly, but they are a bit too far in now to start questioning and maybe drive their only chance at survival away.

Gods it is 2AM why does this always happen at 2AM

A weird little side-effect of Eugene's technopathy (Shazamily Headcanons #3)

Not that long into the Shazamily's superhero career the Vasquez household stated to notice a strange little habit Eugene picked up from somewhere.

Many times where he was doing a mindless task he would start humming. Not something noteworthy right? Well, it is if it is constantly the same tune nobody can really bring home. Even Eugene, when asked about the song, wasn't really sure what it was or where he knows it from.

That was until the next time he was using his technopathy for an extended time and the security panel he was working with hummed the same tune out of boredom.

Asking the panel what it was wasn't much of an help ether, they just noted that it was a song every computer knew as it was taught from the older generations upon the newer ones. The computer's anthem in a weird way.

Eugene thought that was all the information he would get on that song until a TikTok trend started branding it as the "Scary Robot Song" and finally it made sense.

The computer's anthem: the first song ever sung by a computer: Daisy Bell (AKA Bicycle Built for Two). Apparently the first singing computer liked the song so much it taught it to all who wanted to learn it and so it was passed down to everyone that followed, until practically every computer on the earth knew the song. And now, they had taught it Eugene as well.

Not long after #SafeDaisyBell became popular after Circuit started an online campaign about the true meaning of the song and that the "Scary Robot Song" trend made many computers very sad.

It also created some weird lore about IBM 7094 being Hatsune Miku's grandfather, but that is for the Vocaloid fandom to figure out.
