Let’s brawl! Focused on fast-paced and close-range combat, FRAKAS is a fighting video game, where challengers confront each other in small arenas.

Already the 30th Weekly News!
Time passes by quickly. We recently worked on a smoke effect for the high poly version of Origami, and we managed to get a satisfactory result.
We also work on low poly animations, since the real-time mesh modification (for adapting the steps of the running characters while they’re looking elsewhere) associated with ragdoll (smooth clothes) and last-moment triangularization is causing issues in proper mesh/cloth alignment. UI is also under modification since 3D effects are placed in front of 2D elements, and that’s not that simple. We’ll keep you updated about that!

Weekly News 29th
Do not forget to subscribe to the public beta here and send invitations to your friends
Two important topics this week. Leo is under rework because his gameplay is not challenging enough. We're sure he will surprise you, stay tuned.
We also worked on graphical content: you can see a future skin of Roak’un, one of the first challengers we made.

Weekly news, the 28th!
As we are still working on the new menus, to make them handsome and attractive. Every character will have a special spawn animation for the “Challengers” menu for example.
About the game itself, gameplay changes are under discussion, and a lot of game mechanics tests are ongoing, to improve fighting sensations and satisfy action/arcade fans.
Happy to see all these changes coming, or just frustrated not to be on winter holidays, Xantho showed off some sliding skills.
High Poly models are also “WIP”, and this Nessalika proves you it’s going pretty well!

Weekly news #26
It’s already the Weekly News #26! Do you think it’s a coincidence? We don’t.
The first image shows what happens when you launch the game with a way too high gameplay framerate (the pace of game mechanisms computations): without interpolation, it looks like people are teleporting twice a second, and we find it funny.
In a very smoother way, Sophie’s showing her defensive stance to the edge of the arena.
She probably doesn’t see much since her helmet is too low on her face. Talking about the map, our artists are currently improving the stones around it, here’s a screenshot of the progress.

Weekly News 25
Greetings everyone! Holidays are over and we are back to work.
First, we wish you a happy new year! Kevin volunteered to present you our best wishes.
This week you could have seen that Wrenchi and Sophie didn’t take any break and trained hardly, waiting for other opponents to come back into the fray!
Also, one important improvement is ongoing, the in-game menus! Hope this pleases you :)

Weekly News #24
Did you have nice end of year holidays? We did, and we still have some content to share. Here’s a much appreciated image among the team, where we can see several challengers ready to party hard on top of a Frakas logo. We also made a quick test for a glowing effect.

Weekly News #23
These days we did a lot of non-graphical development at Oakmoss, so we don’t have a lot of pictures to show. We’re currently working on the game feeling: we try to improve the “arcade” sensation of speed and reactiveness. This includes the cost of some attacks, and how you launch them (on a keyboard and with a gamepad). It also concerns graphical feedback for the player, like this special effect of Origami: the number of crows shows how deadly your ultimate move will be.
We’re also thinking about Xantho, there’s probably a way to show the number of Combo Points. He’s already leaking many fluids, adding one might not be the visually clearest solution.
Next week we’ll be pretty busy, both by this kind of background rework and the end of the year events. Well, happy holidays to you!

Weekly News #22
This week, Xantho tested bush camouflage. It wasn’t really useful, but you can’t know before you try it, uh?
For the same reason, we can see Sophie’s veeery close to the camera. Wrenchi wanted to help her be at the top of her game!
We also saw that Frakas forest wasn’t as calm as we wanted it to be… But the Rickies will work on that, we promise!
In the meantime, some advanced technology was introduced into Frakas universe with this concept art of a two-sword robot. Those blades should be able to trim facial hair but not only.

We arrive to the next subject, because I mustache you a question: how many challengers do you think fit in the arena? We didn’t know either, so we tried!

Weekly News #21
Greetings, dear traveler of the Interwebs! You arrived on the Weekly News #21 of the smashing fighting video game named “Frakas”. Today we will review a drawing of the challenger Sophie de la Fleur, but with a big head and short limbs. Some call this style “chibi”. We can also observe the famous defense mechanism of Kapteyn b; this ancestral technique inspired the hot-air balloon inventor. We also have a couple of open-minded (nearly literally) challengers, which keep frakassing (pardon my French) their heads on the stone boundaries of the arena to test their tangibility. Farewell, it will be a pleasure to see you in a few days for the next session!

Weekly News #20
Emergency news! We posted our last update on Square Enix Collective (look over here ⇒ http://tinylink.net/tCu7B), you have only 2 days left to vote and give us your feedback.
Aaand.. Normal news! We’re working on improving the arena, 3d models are polished in order to create normal and height maps (technical words to say it will be better).

Kevin discovered how fun it was to spend time on his head,
Xantho our arachnid challenger tried to avoid his imminent death
and Roak’un decided to take his revenge on your screen.

19th Weekly Update
19th Weekly news!
Let’s share with you some cool stuff.
Like this upcoming challenger, “Ottoline” The Fallen Guardian, a warrior with an ancient greece inspired armor.

A pretty good looking FX that we’re proud of, for the ultimate skill of Egi.
A new Challenger Highlight, “Origami” a paper soul crafter.

And we wanted to show you our future main menu for the game. Do you like it?

Weekly News #18
Eighteenth Weekly News! Among improvements, we had a new “fart special effect” inspired from Zelda Wind Waker (half pun intended). Speaking of winds, Leo had a choice: not being hit by a wild Nessalika, or not dying of suffocation because of Kevin. He reported a pulmonary embolism this morning, could be worse.
Ricky tries to be discreet, however it would probably work better in a forest-like environment. He reported being very tired this morning, probably because of its loggy condition.
Haby tried to make a levitating challenger, Origami, trip. Oddly, the latter reported a leg ache this morning. Kapteyn b is asking an inanimate dummy what to do (and probably where to go, look at all this absence of knowledge in the pupils).
And finally we have a new background with a lot of challengers in progress, we hope you’ll like (at least when it’s done)!

Weekly News #17
Wrenchi starts this weekly update with a huge wrench smash, so you know FRAKAS is not about sissy challengers!

Oh, seems like someone posted the first “GuessWho” (and I immediately recognized Kevin, but I won’t spoil you if you like this kind of games).
I hope you gracefully took a bow, Duchess showed up for the first time, directly from the concept room!

And, you could also see what’s going on, when 3 Kapteyn B players actually managed to use their ultimate attacks at the same time!

This week Nessalika tried to fight gravity..
Sophie showed off..

And Jake and Jake ask the real question: are Kevin’s farts more stinky than Jake’s ones?..

Oh, and don’t mind Kapteyn B. He’s just flapping around..

Weekly News #15
When Kapteyn b wasn’t being crushed by some champion like Matt O’neil, we worked on some visual combo builder to feel … more power!

And the Frakas cup was ready to receive its first name, just waiting for the ultimate warrior who will deserve it.
