TOP SHELF

In the beginning, she would sigh every time she realized she had to categorize the new books into the top shelves. But she would never complain to Matt about it, even though he would be more then willing to oblige. It took him watching her in the corner of his eyes, be on the tips of her toes and almost tipping the shelves over to reach to finally realize the issue at hand. Now whenever a new shipment of books come in, he puts it on himself to organize the top shelves.

QUESTIONS

Every time she would ask Matt if he thought a specific scene in her novel was vaguely corny or plain with no depth, he would give her his most honest answer. And she would listen intently, mentally jotting down notes. Matt makes sure his opinion isn't harsh, but isn't glossed over because he genuinely wants his advice to be of some help to her achieving her goal. At the end of his advice he would look at her, "what do you think?" And it would usually end with them talking till the end of their shift.

CORNER GLANCES

Matt would be in the front counter, wearing his black button up with a few loose leaving some skin on his collar bone shown. And if it was a particularly hot or heavy lifting day, he would roll up his sleeves a bit and comb his hair back using his fingers giving him a disheveled look. He would be so entranced in labeling the specific books to catalogues, that he wouldn't notice her hiding her long period glances behind him. And if she went up to where he was to sweep or deal with a customer while he was busy. After she would be done with her task, he would look at her with his brows scrunched up. "Are you alright? I guess the heats getting to you too." She would nod, a bit too quickly lowering her gaze.

Matt's in the backroom brewing coffee for her from the coffee maker.

Inside a cup that has a small black kitty on the front. He's adding the right amount of cream and sugar to make it a little bit sweet but not too much. Just how he knows she likes it.

While she just walked into the bookstore, ready to clock in for her morning shift. She places down her bags as she writes the final points to a character she just thought of on the bus ride there.

After she's done, she walks to the back room right behind the front counter peeking at Matt in the doorless doorway while he's almost done making their cups of fuel for the day.

Everyday he does this and every time, her heart melts a little and her cheeks get a little pink. And when Matt gets worried, about her flushed state; she blames it on the hot coffee burning her up.
