Q: How are the prompts divided?

A: The title is a “theme” for the day, followed by two tropes and a dialog prompt.

A: Absolutely.

Q: Can I use the title as a prompt?

A: Not at all.

Q: Do I have to use all of the prompts?

Q: Can I use all of the prompts?

A: Absolutely. If it's fun, go for it--don't feel pressured to finish them all, but do follow what's inspiring you.

Q: If I'm writing a chronological story, can I swap the days to make it fit the timeline?

A: Yes. Just make sure you tag each piece with the prompt and day you're filling.

Q: Can I have early or late entries?

A: Yes. Early and late entries will not be reblogged to the event account, though.

Q: Is there an Ao3 collection?

A: Yes! This year's collection can be found here, or through searching whumperless_whump_event_july2025. Please remember to submit this year's prompts to the 2025 collection and NOT the 2024 one!

Q: Can I write NSFW?

A: You absolutely can, but the event blog will not reblog any prompt fill rated Explicit. Please ensure you tag NSFW appropriately.

Q: Can I use AI?

A: No.

Q: Can a whumper be included in the prompt fill?

A: The short answer is no. The long answer is that you cannot have the role of whumper in your prompt fill (aka: no whumper-on-whumpee); however, if the character you want to be a whumpee or a caretaker happens to be a whumper, then as long as they are not fulfilling the role of whumper, it's fine. Also, if there is a whumper, it must be totally impersonal and faceless. Here are some examples for clarification:

A character's drink is spiked at a party. OKAY: The whumper who spiked the drink is never mentioned and is completely faceless, and the story is directly about whumpee recovering. NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper who spiked the drink kidnaps the whumpee. A character is left alone in a storm. OKAY: The character is stranded or lost. NOT WHUMPERLESS: Whumper tied them to a post and left them in the storm. A character is mugged on the street. OKAY: The whumper is a stranger, faceless, and the focus is on Whumpee. NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper is a stalker and there to kidnap Whumpee.

All in all, if your goal is to fulfill the event, then try to avoid a whumper. If you're using the prompts elsewhere, then ignore this; but in the spirit of the event, no whumper roles please.

Q: How do I tag my posts?

Help me.

So, at 9:32 p.m., I faced Hamlet's dilemma. I rewrote the stories that my PC inexplicably deleted. There were four, and I rewrote two and a half. The deleted ones were definitely better. I know this, and I'm still torturing myself over this bad luck! Should I risk keeping them on my faulty PC until August when the AU August challenge collection comes out, or should I publish them now?

1) I would have gotten some kind of email from Ao3 if this was true

2) this comment is formatted to be perfect to tack onto any fic they choose

3) ALSO why on earth would Ao3 get rid of entire fandoms off the site? Even if they WERE inactive? Who knows if others will be ‘late’ to the fandom and want some fic to read. Who knows if someone wants to come back to their 6 year old account only to find most of their fics deleted.

hello lovely gerec! this is not a fic request is just me ranting cause i don't have anywhere else to talk about this, so im sorry in advance, but i can't believe we don't have more fics with cherik as half brothers.

maybe charles only finds out later in life as an adult that brian had a bastard and he's trying to connect with erik, but erik is not really interested in having that sibling bond with charles. or maybe they do grow up together because erik's mom dies, and he's forced to live with charles' family when he's twelve and charles is ten. sharon is very transparent in her disgust with erik because he's the living proof of brian's infidelity, but charles, who is an only (and lonely) child is thrilled with the idea of having a brother, a friend. at first, erik is really closed off, almost hostile with him, but those big blue eyes are his weaknesses. He doesn't stand a chance against them no matter how old he is.

after a few months, they're as thick as thieves. they eat together, study together, laugh and fight, and even sleep in the same bed together after charles discovers how erik struggles with sleep. its the two of them against the world, erik thought that after his mom passing he'd be alone forever, so he's very protective of charles and doesn't play about him. not with strangers, not even with sharon. he's always ready do fight for his little brother.

they dont hide how they're each other's favorite person, and even though charles notices from time to time how erik would look at him for a little too long, those blue-green-grey eyes making something unknown inside his body burn hot, or how erik would act way too possessive, wanting to be the center of charles' attention, charles would just brush it off to the back of his mind. erik loves him, and erik is a very solitary person who would rather burn himself alive than open up to people, so of course he's protective of charles. they're family. and it is not like he hates the attention, charles is a very lonely person himself, never had received that much affection from his family (especially his mom), so he won't be the one to complain.

it goes like this until he's old enough to understand why erik looks at him the way he does. why sometimes he looks like he's in pain when he's close to charles, when he looks at his lips, when he touches the small of his back or his waist. erik doesn't look at him like a brother, but like a man. a man who's starving so much he's ready to do anything to have what he craves so much.

erik knows it's wrong. he beats himself up every day, every time he's in charles' presence, because there's only so much hiding he can do. and maybe one day, he finally snaps and kisses charles.

charles is chocked. like someone punched him in the face. he tries to stop erik, to tell him how wrong that is, that they're brothers and shouldn't want this, but his brain can't work properly with the way erik is curling his tongue against his, how his broad hands feels wrapped around his waist, the tip of his fingers almost touching. he's trying his best to pull erik away, but he can't stand to see the hurt look in his handsome face, he Knows it's wrong but he's so weak and it comes to erik. he can't deny him. it's only one time, only once, he keeps repeating.

they end up having sex and is mind-blowing and life-changing, but charles can't deal with the guilt, they have a fight about it and maybe he moves away (or erik moves) because charles thinks they need to be away from each other. that feeling can't exist.

a few years go by, they're both in their mid/late twenties, charles is working as a professor, he's dating (maybe even engaged) to a lovely fellow professor moira mactaggert, until he gets an email from erik, who wants to reconnect.

charles is obviously hesitant. they didn't part in good terms. he buried that bone a long time ago, but that's erik!!! his older brother and his friend, his family!! he misses him so much, and they're not teenagers anymore. maybe erik changed. maybe he moved on from those unspeakable feelings. so charles sends a response to erik, and now erik will spend two weeks in his house. for them to reconnect, like old times.

except charles was wrong. so fucking wrong. when he sees erik after all those years, it's like he forgets how to breathe. erik looks like he was sculpted by god. he always had a great bone structure, but now his jaw is sharper, the little fat he had in his cheeks is gone. he's still taller, but now the lanky arms are fuller, his hair a bit longer, pushed back, and parted in the middle. his voice, deep and low and soft, makes charles shudder. he can smell his cologne from miles. when erik smiles to him, shy and uncertain, charles screams to himself how it was a mistake. he feels like he's about to pass out when they hug, erik holds him like he's afraid charles will disappear at any moment.
