Rebranding Update 1/31/2025
Hey everyone. I'm here to give you a quick update on the me, the blog, and the rebranding. After 3+ months of inactivity due to housing issues, rebranding, and side projects I'm almost ready to return to the blog. Four months ago my family was uprooted from hurricanes Helene and Milton which forced us out of our home. I took this time to work on rebranding the blog; the name, profile photo, banner, and within the next few days a total rework of all prior posts to fit the new post structure. We're finally in a more stable environment and I can put all of my focus onto finishing the rebranding of this blog. I'd like to take this time to thank everyone for sticking by this blog during my absence.

Witchy Update 11/10/24
Hello everyone. I wanted to take this time to update you on what's going on with this blog. Currently I'm working on a rebranding. This will include a new format to keep all my posts consistent, a new name, a new custom icon, and a new custom background. After this rebrand I plan on continuing the daily 100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days series of posts alongside an additional post every weekday. I'm also in the process of writing my first ever comprehensive guide to magic which I will be publicly releasing upon completion. I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of this blog and I'm very excited to get back to putting out content for you all to enjoy.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 13 - Making Your Own Candles On a Budget
Witchcraft commercialism is a big problem I've noticed. Witchcraft has slowly started to become commercialized and it's detrimental to the people who can't afford it. Witchcraft doesn't have to be some expensive practice where you spend your life savings on supplies. Candles is one of the most accessible way of getting into witchcraft and over time can get very costly.
Collecting Your Wax
Whenever you burn down a candle there always tends to be some leftover wax. It might not be much but over time it slowly adds up and if you keep these leftovers you'll find you've built a solid collection. This collection usually is a blend of various colors, scents, and types of wax. You can combat this by organizing your scrap wax from the start by color, scent, or wax type. This will be the most budget friendly way of collecting wax. If you're lucky enough to own a beehive you have another wonderful method of collecting wax.
Making Your Wick
There are generally two main types of wick; wooden and standard. Most standard wicks are made of braided cotton which is good because it means we can easily make some ourselves. There are two materials you can make your budget wick out of. These materials are cotton yarn and twine and are easily accessible in bulk. In order to make a strong, well burning wick you're going to want to braid it or make a tight crochet chain. Once you've made a tight crochet chain or braided your fibers you'll want to stiffen your wicks. This can be done by filling a shallow pan with enough water to cover your wicks and adding 2-4 tablespoons of salt. You'll bring this mixture to a boil and allow all the salt to dissolve almost as if you're making a brine. Once the salt has dissolved turn off the heat and drop in your wicks allowing them to sit in this mixture for 5-10 minutes. Then using a spoon or tongs remove the wicks and place them somewhere safe and straighten them. Let them cool overnight and by morning you'll have plenty of wick.
Making Your Candle
You have your wax, you have your wicks, now it's time to make your candle. First you're going to want to choose your container or mold. You'll need to consider factors like size, how easy it will be to add the wick, and if it's temperature sensitive. Ideally you'll want something relatively small that's easy to set up the wick. For the budget witch this could simply be reusing old tealight candle containers. First you'll want to secure your wick to the bottom of the container. You can do this by melting some candle wax over the bottom and letting it solidify then draping it across a chopstick, popsicle stick, or other object placed across the top of your container or mold. Then fill a shallow pan halfway full of water and bring it to a boil. Place a smaller bowl in the boiling water and add your leftover wax. Make sure as your wax is melting that you stir it so the wax is evenly heated. Once your wax is melted feel free to add any herbs or scents that you'd like to include in your candle. Then carefully pour it into your prepared containers or molds and allow it to set and cure. The cure times vary between wax types. If using paraffin wax allow your candle to set for 24-48 hours. For soy wax allow your candles to set for 3-4 days. Once set trim your wick a quarter to a half inch above the top of the wax. With that your candle should be done and ready for your next ritual or spell.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 12 - Elemental Divination With Candles
Candles represent all four elements. The solid wax represents earth, the wick and smoke represents air, the melted wax represents water, and the flame represents fire. Each elemental property of the candle can be used for divination purposes.
1. Fire Scrying (Fire)
Fire scrying also known as pyromancy is an ancient divination method. Fire scrying is the act of looking into a flame and looking for guidance or insight into a situation. I personally don't believe there's one true way to interpret the flame. I recommend that if you're just getting into fire scrying to keep a journal. It's recommended that you start with a smaller flame like that of a candles as it's much easier to focus on. Every day, or so often as you feel comfortable doing so, light a candle and observe it. Note down how you feel as your watch the candle, the shapes, symbols, or movements that catch your attention. Note how it's moves and shifts, how it responds to the environment, note as much as possible. There's so many factors that can mess with a flame and noting it down can help you separate the mundane from the magical. Over time as you look over your notices check for patterns. This can help you determine what the different movements mean and basically calibrates your reading to your environment, to your practice.
2. Smoke Divination (Air)
Smoke divination is another common divination method. It's very similar to fire scrying as it's best to have a journal to metaphorically calibrate it to your environment and practice. There are several sources of smoke you can use which include, candles, burning herb bundles, bonfires, or incense. I recommend starting with incense as it produces a steady stream of smoke which makes it easier to read for beginners. Once you understand the meanings behind the smoke patterns move to a candle.
3. Melted Wax Scrying (Water)
Melted wax scrying is a method I've recently learned about. The process involves dripping candle wax into a bowl of water and deciphering meaning from the shapes and patterns created by the wax. These drippings can be shaped like many things and can be interpreted in various ways. Circular blobs usually symbolize completion, cycles, and wholeness. Heart shaped blobs symbolize love, emotional fulfillment, or matters of the heart. As you read the wax make sure to note down your results.
4. Solid Wax Divination (Earth)
Solid wax divination is a form of divination I recently created. It's a type of divination takes inspiration from the standard melted wax scrying method. As your candle burns the wax melts away or drips down the sides. This method utilizes that to it's benefit. Ask a question, light your candle, and wait. Eventually your intuition will tell you to blow out or snuff the candle depending on your personal preference. Once you've blown or snuffed out your candle take a close look at it. Really look at the details when you're doing this for the best results. Is the wax cracked anywhere? Is the wick standing up straight or is it bent over? What's the texture of the drip like? Did any shapes form in the wax pool? Was the drip balanced or lopsided? Note this information down and keep a journal. I know I mention journals a lot but trust me when it's a huge help in the long run.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 11 - Dressing Your Candle
Dressing With Wax
As mentioned in a previous post, color is a big part of picking a candle. Candle magic utilizes color magic for it's intent. Adding additional wax in different colors can help you to include multiple types of intentions. Pleas refer to Day 10 - Pairing Crystals With Candle Magic for information on the different intents behind different candle colors. A simple and easy method I've found for dressing candles with other wax colors is taking a large piece of leftover wax from another candle and melt it over the candle you're trying to dress. It's important if you're using this method to rotate the candle frequently for even distribution of the wax. Another common method I've heard is the double boiler method. You melt down the wax using a double boiler and using a spoon drizzling it across the candle.
Dressing With Herbs
I've talked intensely about herbs and their correspondences. Dressing a candle with herbs I've found is much more difficult then candle wax or sigils. There are two common methods I've learned over the years. Both methods require a flat dish or pan lined with parchment paper so make sure you have that on hand. The first method includes softening the outside layer of wax and rolling the candle over the herbs. The second method uses a layer of oil on the outside of the candle and is then rolled over the herbs.
Common Pairings:
Pink Candle + Rose Petals, Hibiscus, and Jasmine: Used in love and romance spells.
Black or White Candle + Rosemary, Thyme, and Black Pepper: Used for protection and banishing.
Green Candle + Basil, Cinnamon, and Bay Leaves: Used for abundance.
Blue or White Candle + Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Thyme: Used for healing.
Blue or White Candle + Lemon Balm, Hyssop, Cedar
Dressing With Sigils
Dressing candles with sigils is one of the easiest methods of dressing a candle. There are no restrictions on the intent behind sigils as one can be made for any intention the user requires. I typically try to incorporate wax dressing alongside sigils as that's something very near and dear to me. Dressing a candle with a sigil is as easy as figuring out your intent, finding a sharp firm object like a toothpick, and drawing the sigil onto your candle. Don't feel limited to just one however, use as many sigils as you feel you need when dressing your candle.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 10 - Pairing Crystals With Candle Magic
I love crystals, and I always have. My father and I used to have a huge collection together and we still do to this day. Over this past week I've been learning a lot more about crystal magic. Now that I'm a little more knowledgeable on the subject I can start using it with other kinds of magic like candles. As I've mentioned previously, crystals can amplify energies. Candle magic is one of the topics I have a lot of experience with. Candle magic channels the energy of fire towards your desired intent. They symbolize transformation, life, and spirit. I've learned recently that when you use crystals and candles together can amplify the intent more so then it could alone.
Choosing Your Candle
Candles come in many colors and those colors come with correspondences. You'll want to pick a candle who's color matches your intent There's many correspondences so I'll be condensing it down to the most notable to keep this short.
Red: Passion, Courage, Business, Creativity, Energy, Strength, Love, Loyalty, Motivation, Romance, Change, Enthusiasm, Overcoming obstacles, Power
Orange: Confidence, Abundance, Success, Ambition, Creativity, Courage, Discipline, Energy, Independence, Justice, Money, Positivity, Strength

Brown: Stability, Grounding, Endurance, Hard Work, Balance, Courage, Material Protection
Black: Strength, Self Control, Negativity, Banishing, Binding, Protection, Death, Break Hexes, Patience, Persistence, Rebirth, Spirituality
White: Protection, Truth, Purity, Purification, Cleansing, Balancing, Divination, Grounding, Healing, Higher Self, Innocence, Spirituality, Truth, Will Power
Silver: Awareness, Psychic Powers, Healing, Intuition, Divination, Money, Fertility, Purification, Hidden Potential, Stability, Success

Black Candle + Black Tourmaline - Black candles are linked to protection and banishing while black tourmaline is known as a grounding stone that shields against negativity. This pairing is used for protection, grounding, and banishment.
Red Candle + Garnet - Red candles are linked with energy and passion while garnet is known to enhance courage, vitality, and power. This pairing is used for passion, strength, and courage.
Green Candle + Aventurine - Green candles are linked with abundance and prosperity while aventurine is known for its ability to attract luck and new opportunities. This pairing is used for prosperity, growth, and opportunity.
Pink Candle + Rose Quartz - Pink candles are linked with emotional healing and love while rose quartz is known for attracting unconditional love and compassion. This pairing is used for love, self care, and emotional healing.
Purple Candle + Amethyst - Purple candles are linked with spirituality and spiritual development while amethyst is known to enhance intuition and spiritual growth. This pairing is used for intuition, spiritual development, and wisdom.
Yellow Candle + Tiger's Eye - Yellow candles are linked with wisdom and action while tiger's eye is known for attracting strength, and protecting against negativity. This pairing is used for confidence, mental clarity, and protection.
Additional Tips
Add herbs that match with your intention to even further enhance your spell or ritual.
Anoint your candle with wax of another color to make a multipurpose candle that covers a wider range of intents.
When the candle burns out save the leftover wax and use empty tealight candle containers to make mini candles.

Day 9 - Crystal Journaling
Organizing Your Journal
Creating a journal can be overwhelming sometimes. There's always so much information to cover and it can get really messy really fast. However, if you use sections to keep your journal organized and help you reference information easily you can avoid a messy journal. Some good sections for your journal include:
Crystal Descriptions: The basics of your journal. It's what the crystals look like, how to identify them, correspondences, and personal correspondences.
Cleansing & Charging Records: A log for cleansing and charging. It's helpful to include this information so you can stick to a schedule or to identify how quickly crystals use energy.
Intention Setting: A log of any intentions you've set when using crystals. It's a record of what crystals you use for specific purposes.
Experiences and Observations: The bulk of your journal. This is your experiences during meditation, various notable observations during rituals, or even interesting experiences in your day to day life.
Spellwork: The filler of your journal. This is a record of spells or rituals you've performed using crystals. It's the ritual itself, the outcomes, and any changes in energy.
Writing Journal Entries
The more journal entries you write the more patterns or themes you'll start to see. It'll end up helping you better understand how certain crystals work for you and your practice. To do this you need to make journaling a habit. You can reflect on things like:
Crystals you used that day
Experiences during meditations or rituals
How different crystals affected your mood or energy levels
Why It's Important to Have a Crystal Journal
A crystal journal can help you to be more aware of your emotional states. It helps you track your personal growth and development in your practice. It helps you to strengthen your connect to the crystals and their energies. Just make sure to set aside time to reflect on your journey.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 7 - How to Care For Your Crystals
Cleansing & Charging
Charging and cleansing crystals is an important part of taking care of your crystals. It ensures that you're crystals stay clean, full of energy, and can aid you when you need them. The following are some common cleansing and charging methods:
Moonlight Cleansing & Charging: On the night of the full moon set your crystals outside or on a windowsill where they can be bathed in moonlight. Leave them overnight to allow the moons energy to cleanse them. You can repeat this process to charge it.
Running Water Cleansing: Hold your crystals under running water for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. As the water pours over the stones visualize the old energy being washed away. Make sure you're crystals are water safe for this method. If it ends in -ite it's probably not water safe.
Sound Cleansing: Use a bell or any other object that produces a clear resonate sound near your crystals. The vibrations can cleanse there energy even from a decent distance.
Smoke Cleansing: Wave your crystals through the smoke from burning a bundle of herbs or incense. As you do so visualize the smoke carrying away the stagnant energy.
Earth Cleansing & Charging: Bury your crystals in the earth or in a small pot of soil for 24 hours before digging it up and cleaning it off. The soil will absorb and neutralize any negative energy sticking to the stone. You can repeat this process to charge it.
Sunlight Charging: Set your crystals in the sun for 2-4 hours so it can charge up the sun's energy. It's best to do this in the early morning or late evening to avoid the harsh mid-day lighting. Some crystals aren't sun safe and will fade under direct sunlight so make sure to check if your crystals are sun safe.
Storing Your Crystals
Organize by Intention: Store crystals with similar purposes together. This prevents any conflicting energies from affecting the crystals.
Use Natural Materials: Use cotton pouches, wooden boxes, or fabric scraps to store your stones. Natural materials allow the energy to flow better then synthetic ones like plastic.
Keep Them Away From Electronics: Electronics put out a small amount of electromagnetic radiation, which is safe for humans but can be harmful to your energies of the stones. It's best to store crystals on an altar or a special shelf away from electronics.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days
Day 6 - How to Choose The Right Crystals For Daily Use
Set a Daily Intention
Before you pick your crystal you first want to figure out your intention. Crystals hold energy, by choosing one that aligns with your intention you can end up with more effective results. Some good questions to ask yourself include:
What do I want to achieve today?
What challenges do I expect to face?
What mood do I want to have today?
What do I want to protect myself from?
Depending on what you'll be doing that day can affect your intention that you might not have realized otherwise. There are thousands of stones for different intentions. Let's say you need protection, black tourmaline and obsidian would be your go to. If you needed some love and compassion rose quartz and rhodonite can help with that. If you need focus and mental clarity you can use fluorite or clear quartz. Maybe you need a confidence boost or a little motivation, citrine and tigers eye works well for that.
Trust in Your Intuition
When you're picking a crystal you don't always need to know the exact correspondences or properties to know it's the right one. You might feel pulled or drawn to a specific stone and not quite know why. It could be the color, the texture, or just overall feel of it. This is a sign that your intuition is guiding you to the right choice. Even if you're unsure about the correspondences you can still take it and look up the correspondences later. You may be pleasantly surprised with how aligned it was with your intentions.
Pick a Size And Shape
When picking out your crystal you also need to keep in mind your needs when carrying it around. You might want to avoid fragile crystals like selenite or soft stones that can break easily when handled often. Here's a few types of styles you may want to consider:
Tumble Stones: Small, smooth, discreet stones that can slip into your pocket or purse.
Jewelry: Pendant, rings, or bracelets.
Pocket Stones: Crystals that are slightly more oblong but fit comfortably in your hand.
Working Your Crystal into Your Routine
When choosing your crystal it's also important to consider your routine. If you have a lot of different activities planned you can carry a combination of a few crystals that works best for your intentions. For example:
Work or study: Crystals like fluorite or clear quartz can help with focus, mental clarity, and decision making.
Self care and emotional healing: Crystals like rose quartz or lepidolite can promote feelings of love and peace.
Travel or errands: Crystals like black tourmaline or hematite can offer protection from negative energy and promotes grounding, especially in unfamiliar environments.
Choose Crystals That Are Easy to Cleanse and Recharge
Because you'll be working with your crystals daily it's very important to consider how easy it is to cleanse and recharge those crystals. Some crystals absorb energy quickly and need cleansed and recharged often while others are self cleansing. Some popular cleansing methods include:
Moonlight: Place your crystals under the full moon.
Running Water: Some stones are water safe and can be held under running water to cleanse the stone. Usually if it ends in -ite it's not water safe. Make sure you research which stones are water safe.
Smoke Cleansing: Pass your crystal through the smoke of burning herbs to remove stagnant energy.
For daily use it's best to stick to stones that are more durable that can handle frequent cleansing. Some good stones for this include clear quartz, black obsidian, and citrine.
Switch Crystals as Needed
Don't feel like you have to stick to only one crystal a day. You're intentions can and will shift based on what you go through during your day. Your intention is fluid and as such you're choice of crystals should as well. Having a small, varied collection of crystals can help you have one for any intention no matter what happens. You might even rotate your stones as part of a weekly ritual. Cleansing and recharging your crystals every week to make sure they stay aligned with your intentions.

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 5 - Fresh vs. Dry Herbs
Mabon is right around the corner and that means fall is upon us. It's time to harvest your gardens and restock and resupply on your herbs and plants. It's time to give thanks and to thank the earth for it's bountiful harvest. I wanted to take this time to say thank you to each and every one of you. This platform is a wonderful place and I'm overjoyed to be here sharing it with all of you. Thank you for following and supporting this blog.
What's the Differences?
Fresh herbs carry the same correspondences as it's dried counterpart; that much will never change. Dried is the standard, easy method of using herbs in a general sense. This could be in cooking, spell jars, sachets, incense, etc. Fresh herbs are typically harder to obtain, require patience, and have fewer uses. So why do some witches use fresh herbs you may ask? I've found through my own practice that using fresh herbs typically resulted in faster results while dried works better for long lasting spells. This may just be association though.
Spells for Fresh Herbs
Healing & Restoration - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Thyme
Love & Attraction - Rose Petals, Lavender, Jasmine
Cleansing & Purification - Rosemary, Thyme, Lemongrass
Prosperity & Abundance - Basil, Mint, Parsley
Protection - Rosemary, Garlic, Basil
Luck & Good Fortune - Rose, Basil, Dill
Success & Achievement - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Clover
Grounding & Balance - Cedar, Sage, Pine
Banishing - Garlic, Onion, Clove
How to Use Dried Herbs
In Kitchen Magic: You can use fresh herbs as well, however, dried herbs are on average much more potent and effective then fresh herbs.
To Anoint Candles: I've found using dried herbs typically sticks better to the candle when compared to using fresh herbs.
In Tea Blends: While fresh works for certain teas dry is ultimately your best bet when making an herbal tea.
In Bath Sachets: You could use fresh herbs, however I found dried herbs to soak up the water and release more of it's natural oils then fresh.
In Spell Jars: For long term spell jars dried herbs can minimize the risk for molding when compared to fresh herbs.

Day 4 - How to Create a Herbal Grimoire
A Herbal Grimoire is a journal, notebook, or online resource where you note down what you learn. Note down your research on the plant, your experiences using it in spells, the results of the spells. Over time it will grow and be a sort of encyclopedia tailored to your personal practice and knowledge. It should also overtime become a reference guide there to help you remember correspondences, notice patterns in your practice, and track the success of your spells.
How to Start Your Herbal Grimoire
1. Choose Your Format: You want to start by picking where you want to make your grimoire. You could use a notebook, a journal, loose paper, a binder, any note apps, if you're able to write in or on it then it's a format you can use.
2. Sections to Include: You can divide up your grimoire into sections to keep it organized. Here's a few ideas for sections:
Herb Profiles: Set aside a page to write about its correspondences, physical properties, folklore, or personal experiences with it.
Spells and Recipes: Write down any spells or recipes you make using herbs. Write down the ingredients, steps, and outcome of each spell.
Harvesting and Storage Tips: Include guidelines on how to properly harvest, dry, and store each herb.
Personal Reflections: As you work with herbs, reflect on your experiences with them. Ask yourself questions like "How did the spell feel using those specific herb?" or "What herbs do I tend to gravitate towards?"
3. Correspondences: Research each herb's magical properties and write them down. You can include elemental correspondences, planetary rulers, or even deity associations.
4. Add Personal Touches: Always remember this is your book, you can design it however you want. Customize your book however you see fit.
Why a Herbal Grimoire is Important
It Becomes Your Personal Guide: Even though there are many correspondences you can find in books or online, having your own grimoire brings you closer to your practice. You might even learn something new that you haven't seen anywhere else.
It Tracks Your Growth: As you write down your experiences you'll begin to notice how you're practice has evolved over time. You might start noticing patterns and specific herbs you're drawn to.
It Enhances Focus and Intention: Writing down your research and experience also helps you to retain the knowledge you've learned.
It Helps Build a Deeper Connection with Nature: As you learn more about working with herbs the more you learn about nature. This let's you know more about your local environment and how you could potentially help it.
Tips for Keeping a Grimoire
Consistency is Key: Regularly update your grimoire with new information.
Make if Your Own: Don't be scared to stray from the traditional correspondences if others better match your results.
Don't Rush: You're grimoire will slowly grow over time. Don't feel pressured to fill it up quickly. The more thought you put into your grimoire the better it'll be.
