The Witness - See the World Differently
How do you solve a puzzle without knowing the rules?
The Witness is a 3D puzzle game that puts the player in a beautiful, outstanding, and mesmerizing island filled with over 650+ puzzles to be solved. All without knowing what exactly the rules are (or supposed, until you understand them..)!
The Witness was designed by Johnathan Blow and developed by Thekla Inc., with a score rating of 10/10 by the Youtuber IGN, it really justifies the simple, well-thought gameplay The Witness has to offer to new unexpecting players whoâll not know whatâll hit them.
One thing that I enjoy about The Witness is its concept. To a non-The Witness player it may seem like dragging one line from one point to another. But the game puts a twist to that, to an extent and pulls it off to its great potential. This truly makes the player think hard, see the world in a different perspective, and think outside the box when solving puzzles in the world.
Also, The Witness doesnât have a solid storyline to follow but philosophical perspectives and views to seeing the world in different lenses. With tape recorders scattered throughout the world, The Witness makes sure the players are engaged and learn something new, and definitely fits to the whole âa change of perspectiveâ lesson.
Fair warning though, if you start to play The Witness and go through its 650+ fun and head-aching levels, you too might start seeing patterns in real life too (I still see them till this day, haunting meâŠ).

Deemo - Combining Story and Rhythm to One
Can you imagine a game that is memorable with its music and enthralls you with utter curiosity? A game that is free and doesn't require an internet connection to access the songs? A kind of game that will soothe you and calm your mind? Then buckle up! Because Deemo can fill your hungry heart with fantastical twists!
Deemo is vastly popular worldwide considering that it is developed by the Rayark Company, furthermore, there has an anime adaptation called DEEMO Memorial Keys, you can check it out to see for yourself!Currently, there is Deemo and Deemo Reborn (sequel), I havenât played the sequel yet so Iâll simply share the original one, but! If youâre interested to play the sequel, you can freely download it on App Store and Google Play. Now then, let's get started!
Deemo is not only a score-based rhythmic game that will strengthen your cognitive functions, but it also has a stirring plot! Â Get motivated by clicking those piano keys as we get to witness Alice, the main character slowly regaining her memories and finding her way to get back into her world with the help of a non-talking friend Deemo! And all together, we will get to stumble upon some discoveries and cliffhangers that will surely intrigue you to know what will happen within the next chapter! To unlock those chapters is to play the game OR! you need to be reminded of collecting the magical spark surrounding the place, they're usually hidden somewhere so you better keep your eyes wide open to every place you go. Additionally, collecting them would strangely make some slight changes to the objects in the game.
youtube
There are three main levels, Easy, Normal, and Hard, each with a difficulty rating measured in a 'Level' scale. The player can also customize the speed of the notes before starting a level, on a scale of 0.5 (slowest) to 9.5 (fastest). Songs can also be "autoplay" (in the Chart Mode), which plays the song automatically but disqualifies any scores. The player must tap on the notes when they reach the bottom line in time with the music, resembling playing on a piano. Black notes with a white interior are the same as normal black notes, only representing non-piano sounds.
Mine notes are the opposite: the player should not tap or slide the note when they reach the bottom line. The player's performance is judged by the accuracy at which each note is hit, which is divided into two types, "True Charming" and "Regular Charming". Misses are also subdivided into three types, white, red, and no glow. At the end of each level, the game shows the player's overall performance in a result screen, providing the proportion of "Charming" hits, the longest chain of consecutive successful hits (Combo), and the overall accuracy in percentage form, with 100% denoting all hits are "Charming".

Outer Wilds - How I Became Entangled to One of the Best Games Ever
GIF from: Tenor
âThere is no way to tell you what Outer Wilds is without spoiling it entirely. You have to experience it yourself. Besides, it only takes 22 minutes.â â A Redditor
Outer Wilds is a 2019 video game developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive. It is a puzzle space exploration game that makes use of knowledge and experience as your key to progressing through the game.
I personally enjoy and love Outer Wilds for its amazing concept and world building. For a space exploration game, there is truly no other game as similar as Outer Wilds. Although the game may seem or look repetitive, all I can say is throughout that repetitiveness, comes a new opening of adventure, wisdom, and a story slowly unfolding ahead of you as you take one step with each run you make. Itâs a progress that doesnât make use of advancements, leveling up, or anything cliche from other progressive puzzle games, but instead seeks and asks you what you have learned and how you can use that knowledge in unlocking the next world.
Actually, I canât even state that thereâs a ânext stepâ in Outer Wilds, given how itâs truly an open world game, where there are no restrictions or guidelines that youâre forced to follow throughout your playthrough - Outer Wilds uses curiosity and the freedom of the player to interact with its playground.
Accompanied with outstanding existentialism soundtracks, and interactable NPCs that youâd get to greet throughout the solar system, you the player becomes attached with its simple but wholesome storyline with the game.
GIF from: Tenor
I simply cannot say anything else about Outer Wildâs contents and nature of the game. As someone who has played Outer Wilds without any idea what the game has in store for me, itâs that sense that makes the game a wonderful, memorable, and âoh-I-wish-to-play-this-game-again-for-the-first-timeâ experience. For you to play Outer Wilds you must be attentive and thoughtful of your decisions, constantly asking what is the next thing you should do as the only hint youâll ever have is yourself and the time you get to play the game.
Whatever happens next when you play Outer Wilds, I guarantee that it is something to not be feared. Embrace the unknown and let curiosity be your guide. Safe travels astronaut!

Nuclear Throne - We have to reach.. the Nuclear Throne!
Ever wanted an arcade twist towards your usual post-apocalyptic games? A game that keeps the action while not having to invest in too much of the world. What about a twist of Soul Knight that doesnât heat up 2010s phones? A game that you can carry around for when PLDT doesnât make your moneyâs worth.
FLĂSHYN!
Look no further with Nuclear Throne, an indie roguelite shoot-emâ-up game that comes in just megabytes, but keeps you aiming for more. It was created by Vlambeer, a Dutch studio consisting of Jan Willem Nijman and Rami Ismail, with major contributors like Paul Veer for readable character design, Justin Chan for engaging promotional art and Jukio Kallio for the world-building music. Opening its gameplay to the world in March 2013, it slowly reached its way to becoming a staple indie, living long enough to be recognized and ported for the Nintendo Switch in 2019, and the XBox One in 2021.
The game starts off after an apocalypse that changed the world more than ended 99.99% of it. Letâs start with the original five characters of its Beta version, who Iâll have to introduce to give you a taste of how much more Nuclear Throne and its fans have.
Before his mutation, Fish was a normal cop of the Inter-Dimensional Police Department; an agency and opposition that fears the Nuclear Throneâs power.
A sentient Crystal surpasses her ancestors. Being family-oriented, she wants the Throne for her kind to flourish.
Eyes canât really speak, not even with the universeâs fictional language âTrashtalkâ, so no-one really knows him. He seems to be an avid fan of movies, though.
A pessimistic skeleton of Melting flesh that can explode dead enemies in compensation for his measly health.
And lastly, there is Plant, a genocidal venus flytrap that keeps a primal sense of carnage on its way to the Throne.
These characters join up and gather around a campfire, queuing for their attempt of reaching what everyone in the roster perceives as salvation from the post-apocalyptic wicked. They find new survivors, taking them in to have them wait in refuge, or cooperate through the wasteland. And maybe sometimes, taking further steps with Crowns filled with various misfortunes to weigh them down for the brag. All these and more, with cursed weapons, golden ones, malformed mutants, and allied ones. Simple, right?
As a game made from GameMaker Studio, modding the game to seemingly extend this lore is relatively easier than most games you know. The only catch is, itâs not as popular as most games you know. But itâs not all bad! There is a plethora of mods to indulge in, solo or with friends. Within itch.ioâs collection stands out âNuclear Throne Togetherâ, a mod that integrates mod-loading and local and network multiplayer. With Vlambeerâs peaceful shutdown during their 10th anniversary on September 2, 2020, modders have slowly continued adding content for you to check back in every once in a while.
Personally, this game was my kickstarter to applying game sense into real life, such as starting from scratch to thinking between game-changing abilities (yes, college). It got me into my own zone and even stayed with me in old doodles and a soap sculpting assignment from 2019. It kept me up my feet with how each character held diversity, the right way, and fought adversity, going for broke for what is and is no longer at stake.
With all that said, I suggest you grab your Shovel and dig through the relic of roguelite instead of a mere article. Who knows? Maybe you will also feel like âKings and Queens of Wastelandâ (by Jukio Kallio.)
KFO LN'IM, VE'Ă.
Happy trails and salads, from Angelo!
KHA FLĂISUM!
Wanna give Nuclear Throne a chance? It's up on Steam for gamers to play with! YOOO!!!

OSU! - Precise Rhythm Gaming
OSU! is a rhythm game made by Dean Herbert (Peppy) and it was inspired by iNiS rhythm game OSU! Tatakae! Ouendan. OSU! was released in 2007 September 16.
OSU! has 4 different modes, Standard, Taiko, Catch Mania. People mostly play Standard other than 3 different modes because Standard is the main mode for OSU!. Right now OSU! has around 19.3 million active usersâŠ.
What are the good benefits of OSU!
Accuracy - Success in Osu! ...
Speed/Reaction Time - You'll discover that when your muscle memory, precision, and consistency improve, you'll be able to do these activities faster.
Stamina - The importance of building endurance in mouse control or your pen tablet is often ignored.
I play OSU! itâs because my brother told me that OSU! is a good game if you want to discover more songs and love rhythm games so I tried playing OSU!, when it was my first time playing this game, I was thinking "hmmm maybe this game isnât bad at all", and so I got addicted to this game already as if like this game is part of my life that it is impossible for me to stop playing this game and also I have been playing this game for 2 years already and I have entered 3 tournaments already (winter tournament), (Spring tournaments), (Halloween tournament) and itâs going to be my 4th tournament which is another spring tournamentâŠ.

32 Hours of VRChat - Your 2nd Reality
Today I will introduce you to the game in the VR Category which is VRChat!
VRChat is a Virtual World social game created by Graham Gaylor and Jesse Joudrey developed and published by VRChat Inc. It was first released on January 16, 2014 as an app for the Oculus Rift then released on Steam on February 1, 2017. Itâs a place to meet all kinds of people from around the globe in a virtual environment. VRChatâs content are created by its amazing community creating avatars, worlds, games and more. Itâs a game with thousands of games inside it. From scenic worlds to game worlds that will blow your mind. And the best part? Itâs free to play! You can play the game even without a VR, with just your PC on desktop mode. You can also play it without a PC using a standalone VR like the Quest 2 or Pico 4.
First up, in VRChat you can be who you want to be! Be your popular anime, game, or movie character. You can choose your own gender from being a girl, boy, and other genders. You can join different types of fandoms and groups from Warhammer, Undertale, FNAF, roleplayers, ravers, hobbyist or tech enthusiasts, no matter your taste youâll find a place for you. Here you have the freedom to be who you are and find people the same as you.
Next up, VRChat worlds that blow your mind. Youâll find worlds here that can make you appreciate scenes or landscapes that are so beautifully created in 3D. You can also visit VR cities from different parts of the globe like the busy streets of Tokyo to the romantic city of Paris. Then we go to the games. VRChat has hundreds of games that people can play. From recreated games like Among Us, prop hunting, to games like Prison Escape, Zombie Tag, & Murder Mystery. Thereâs definitely a lot of unique games to play here. Thereâs also community created worlds such as Devouring, Pop Escape, Hunniâs Horror Maps and also the Award-Winning game Magic Heist. If you have a game idea you have the freedom to create your own game here as long as you have knowledge of coding, blender and Unity.
And Lastly, In VRChat you can live in the virtual space like youâre in another world. People who want to feel the escapism or people who just want to be themselves can live their life here. People are so immersed that you can find love, marry people, sleep in VR, join rave parties, drink with friends and even join live stage shows. There was a documentary made about a couple that met in VRChat and started a family. Finding love virtually is now made easier in VR because you can see a physical representation of your loved ones.
Since VR is like a 2nd world, you can also find work here and earn money. You can stream yourself, selling your avatar creation, start a service type of business, teach others how to dance, translate other languages, DJ for clubs, create custom worlds or models. People use their talents in music, arts, acting, comedy, games and many more for peopleâs needs and demands. With this they have created an economy that made VRChat one of the best free to play VR games that has so much potential for the future.
It really shocks me how a lot of people havenât heard of it before when popular Vtubers such as Filian or Project Melody use VRChat on their videos that are viewed by millions of people. This shows how underrated the game is due to some misconceptions and misunderstanding people have about VRChat.
And here in Gamer Salad, we showcase games and give them their love and glory they so deserve.
If you're interested to try out VRChat yourself: feel free to create an account and login with the link below! I look forward to meeting you.
I am Mark and thank you for reading Gamer Salad!~

ICONOCLASTS - 16 bit Awesome Adventures!
Today, I welcome you to the world of ICONOCLASTS.
Iconoclasts is an indie 2D open-world platformer game. It is the masterwork of indie developer Joakim Sandberg, seven long years in the making. You play as Robin, our silent protagonist who just wishes to be a mechanic and help those that needed fixing. However, without a license, she is seen akin to a criminal in the world of Iconoclasts. After some hijinks here and there, Robin finds herself in a problem thatâs bigger than her and the entire world.
Alongside Robin, you meet titular characters that will serve as your playable companions as you play through the game. Mina, one of the first playable characters that you meet in the game. She is described as a pirate with a strong odor to pair. Royal, the current Progeny, and in line to become Father of the One Concern. Although unplayable, Royal does assist you through hard battles through the use of his powers. And lastly Robinâs brother, Elro, a bitter ex-chemist, that accompanies Robin later in her journey against bad forces.

Iconoclasts is an amazing game, with great 16-bit pixelated visuals that will amaze you, deep long hours of multiple boss fights that will sure to challenge you, and big open world free to explore and platform through puzzles and monsters that stand in your way. And its story, while I have not been able to fully piece it all together through my runs of the game, it has an overarching theme of religion, indoctrination, faith, beliefs, and justice as you move your way through the game.
Iconoclasts is long. With each region having a maximum of two-three bosses to beat and thatâs not even counting the puzzles and platforming you have to do to head to them and the next storyline! But thatâs not to discourage anyone who wishes to play it, in fact, part of the charm of Iconoclasts is its explorative world. With different things to interact with, different people to talk to, side quests, treasures to find and unlock, and even, secret bosses to beat.
Another reason to play (and fall in love with) Iconoclasts is its very unique characters. Each with storylines and interesting personalities that you will love as you progress. Our main characters are different in their own ways. Robin, kind and cheerful but she holds a secret deep in her heart. Mina, a bit of a clown, hard-headed but caring and sweet. Royal, arrogant and pompous, but deep down, he is lonely and a tad bit ignorant. And Elro, bitter and pessimistic, but it is evident that he cares deeply for his family and his sister. Even side characters donât escape the treatment, as they have hilarious personalities that will make you laugh out loud when you interact with them (Ex. One Concern Soldiers).

TLDR: Iconoclasts delivers awesome action, hilarious hijinks and an emotional rollercoaster of deeply personal storytelling that you will surely enjoy! 10/10 would always replay.Â
That is all! Thank you for reading Gamer Salad. And until next time! Shamie signing out!
Ready to go out for a wild adventure!? I sure am! Click the link below to get the game now from Steam.
