Work in progress (pray for me)
Tumblr media
I started this while waiting for parts of the last wreath to dry. I was overexcited and didn't paint the white base... It's going to be a journey of trial and error (like every other project I've ever worked on)... There's going to be tears, frustration, and I don't know if I'll like how it ends. SOS from a crafter with the too-much-gene.

Another one done! The smaller rings are held to the larger with a wire wrapped in twine, making it sturdier, so the rings are adjustable to a point. There is a glittery background to the pinecone ring, as well as glitter on the pinecone, for a snow effect. The outermost wreath itself was nice, but too big to leave alone. This was a fun experiment, and I think I'll try giving some of the smaller ideas a larger canvas.

Finished!!
Tumblr media
My third holiday (Christmas by the bow I've still yet to make; a sample of the ribbon in the center) wreath almost finished. The colors are brighter in person. I had a larger wire base to work with and wrapped the base with green and some silver tinsel.
Tumblr media
Added painted wine corks, ornaments, decorative cranberries, bells, and small clear plastic rocks for an ice effect.

Finished! The way the wire base sits makes how I attached the bow a little strange (see previous post on my page). For the third wreath I've ever made, I don't think it's half bad.

In progress. I don't like the white I painted on the wreath and may repaint it in the end if I can't figure a way to make it work. I need to buy a ribbon to match the ornaments and will put it in the empty space at the top to cover whatever hanging mechanism I decide to add (probably just wire bc I'm lazy in that way). I'm going to experiment with small holiday type greenery items to fill gaps if needed. I'll post again when it's finished!

Finished this wine cork wreath. I've made an origami wreath in the past, many years ago. But this is my first attempt recently and with these materials. In making this, I've realized I can't make bows for shit, so making every section separately is the only way to make it look somewhat decent. I was afraid my too much gene would kick in and I would ruin it, so calling it quits here. This will be a holiday gift for my mom, a person without a too much gene.

Over four years ago I made everything below this post (along with other items no longer in my possession like a few more wands and a couple wreaths, so I can't get photos of them unfortunately) on my page. I started a job that I initially loved, but it took so much of my energy, patience, happiness, I had no motivation to create anymore. I left that job this year because my mental health had significantly declined due to the poor management putting their duties on my shoulders, not having time or energy for an outlet outside of work, and my physical health was being greatly affected. Since I left I have gone on nature adventures, adopted a dog, and I have found new excitement for creating again and can't wait to make mistakes and experiment with new techniques. One thing I've learned is to put my mental health above all else, because I don't feel like I'm living if I'm not having some kind of adventure, big or small... I've also learned to do small design tests before going all in.

Piece I'm holding up is crayon shavings in hot glue. The green piece is moss in hot glue. Then there's the glitter in hot glue, painted with metallic rainbow-ish (mainly purple but reflects other colors) nail polish.

In an effort to learn to make wire rings, I've realized I don't have the patience or tools to properly make an aesthetically pleasing one. But I have learned interesting things about wrapping wire that I will attempt to bring into my wand making. I will be doing a few tests with wire to see how to be fit it to the wands and what new designs I'll be able to experiment with. Even failed creative attempts can lead to evolved successful ones!

A second attempt at this melted candle style, but first time using white on the handle. A clear jagged edged stone on the end to mimic ice, and clear round stones on the handle. The first attempt at this style is one post below this - Wand of Morgana. This aesthetic is much lighter, but gives cold. Named Winter's Touch.

Wand of Morgana. My first true melted candle approach to a handle. I used a large red marble and round red stones to add to the dark magical aesthetic. I enjoy how this turned out and had made another one, though white with clear stones. I may make more of this design in the future, centering the differences on my choice of end stone.

I have always loved the mythos and aesthetic of mermaids, so of course, here's a first attempt at making a mermaid-inspired wand. A real shell used on the end, and metallic rainbow paint along with some glitter used on the entirety of the wand, I do have a soft spot for this one. Another experiment with handle and shaft design, I think it turned out lovely, and am excited to make more similar to it. Siren's Song.

This golden wand was centered around the stone, but quickly became a test of ideas. I decided to integrate, for the first time, wire and beads into the design of the handle. I'm unsure if I'm finished with this design, or if I'd like to attempt to touch up pieces, or if it's perfect the way it is. It is a first attempt design, after all. Unnamed, but I'm sure it'll be something with gold - thinking Midas related maybe...

This wand was a first attempt at making this type of design. I decided to leave the handle understated and am very happy with how it turned out. The black with copper design helps this wand stand out from the others. I want to create more in this style with other colors. Named Silentium.

The Tangler. My very first attempt at making a vine design. While I hope I can do a cleaner execution in the future, I am happy with the end result.

Currently unnamed, but spider-inspired. The dark turquoise end inspired by egg sacks. The clear, bubbled handle inspired by slime. (Who doesn't equate slime with the same icky feeling that spider often evoke?) And a smooth black handle, helping to keep attention on the turquoise.

Earth Mover. A large clear crystal held by a black and brown handle. A twisted dark brown shaft, giving the appearance of warped, stretched wood.
