Season's greetings, dearest goblinfam! Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season. ✨️
Be sure to check your pinecones for pinecone sprites, and your chimneys, fireplaces and stovetops for soot wyrms!
Pinecone sprites, as their names suggest, are only found in pinecones. These ghostly lil' creatures are mostly dormant throughout the year, and only emerge from their pinecone shelters during autumn and winter.
Soot wyrms are curious lil' critters which are commonly found in households, although you'll rarely see them apart from the tiny trails of soot they leave behind. They live in small groups and can be lured out with tiny pieces of coal, which they love snacking on. 🎄💖🎄

Imagine a pinecone as heavy as a bowling ball and the size of a chihuahua. Believe it or not, such pinecones exist—and they belong to the coulter pine (Pinus coulteri), a conifer that can be found in parts of North America including California and Mexico. Infamous among loggers and foresters, this tree is nicknamed "the widowmaker" because of the unlucky individuals who met their fate as a result of its falling pinecones. This species produces the largest pinecones on the planet, weighing up to 11 lbs (5 kg)!

Shochikubai ("three friends of winter") themed seasonal outfit, pairing a ume (plum blossom) kimono, matsubokkuri (pinecone) and matsuba (pine needles) black satin obi, and a cute take (bambou) obidome.
Auspicious shochikubai pattern is heavily associated with New Year season in Japan :)

Meet Cornelia and the Pinterbeast!
I’ve always loved David M Bird’s little Becorns so I thought it’d be fun to try and make some of my own! And then I got carried away 😅
They’re both made entirely of sticks, pine cones, acorns, and hot glue.
It is so much fun jumping into a project like this with no plan. Just having to use what you’ve been given by nature and a little imagination to let the characters create themselves. I genuinely had so much fun playing around with all the little bits of pine cones and sticks! 😊
