Haha, this is something I actually have to write about a lot of my headworlds with having to create different races and how the sex and culture dynamics be different based on what secondary sex characteristics are determined by what chromosomes. Now it is also interesting to say if the Amazon’s were able to reproduce like that one species of lizard that is basically all females (i believe it is through parthenogenesis) and there is also a species of fish that can reproduce but most of their species is male? I don’t remember what it was called.

I know for my species the progenoans they are a race/species with no actual set form, go through stages where their body adapts to different lifestyles (like first being water based, then going land based, then air based, and these can be swapped). But they have 3 known reproductive types, you have ones which are the giver, ones that are the receiver and the last can be both.It is unknown if this is a spectrum on where they fall or if it changes throughout their life. Progenoans consume other animals and creatures, using their dna and mixing and matching to come up with a unique phenotype for survival and very few are actually sentient, it tends to be the sentient ones where this is actually explored on how they reproduce. Some progenoans may require more than one partner and their bodies naturally produce chimeric offspring (so zygotes always merge), others can even produce asexually if necessary. Their bodies will assist naturally correct the division of their cells as fertilization occurs so they avoid the division issue.

If we assume like lets say, remembering that humans have 46 chromosomes, 23 pairs, what happens when a 3rd sex chromosome is introduced? Would humans still have 46 chromosomes? Or will it become 69 (HEH) in order for them to divide appropriately? Instead of 46 to stay in that 40s ranges humans would need to have 48 chromosomes which would resulted in having 16 chromosomes per sex chromosome. (I’m forgetting terms its been a moment) and thus that would make it possible for a third to be introduced maybe? But this would require more thought.

So Rotti just posted about being disappointed about Diana being straight in WW when she’d grown up as an Amazon, and I was thinking, in a weird sort of way it makes her queer (not in the tab A slot B sense, but in the context of Amazon culture?). 

And then I started thinking, imagine if there was a mutation and suddenly an entirely new sex of human appeared - not like the multitudinous ones which are varying combos and absences of male/female but something entirely new. Different from the chromosomes on outward. Say a novel splitting of chromosomes, so we’d have XX, XY and XXO, XYO, something like that. 

I’m thinking along the lines of the phaen in A Voyage to Arcturus:

That could make for some incredibly worldbuilding, the reaction of modern culture good and bad, from society as a whole to individuals. I’m putting this into the “pursue further at some point” file.

“We are going to have to attack Mordremoth in his own mindscape are you sure this is a good idea?” the taller Charr was patching up his armor while Knichtus was making notes in preparation. Braham, Rytlock, Caithe, Canach, and Marjory were already waiting in Dragon Stand at the pool with the structure that represented Mordremoths epicenter. Knichtus and Kaijukka had decided it be best to get a bit of rest in before charging in. While they have conquered many of Mordremoths challenges, this task will be the most daunting, having to actually defeat Mordremoth. Hearing a soft chuckle escape from his friend, Maurukhun snarled with a frown. “Knichtus I’m serious.”

“Your nervous Mauru? That’s a first, sure you aren’t becoming sheepish in your old age?”

“This isn’t time for joking around, other than Sylvari both you and I can actually hear Mordremoth speak, and Kaijukka can pick up bits from her Sylvan hound, he knows were coming for him. In the mindscape we could very well not just be facing him but...our own nightmares.” with a sigh, Knichtus picked up the stack of notes and tapped them on the desk to straighten them. He paused for a moment, just staring the words before speaking.

“In that case...That’s what I’m hoping for.”

“Wait...What?”

“Think about it Mauru, we’ve faced our own demons countless times. Our fears, our pasts, our mistakes, the darker facets of our personalities. We have had to come to terms with them early on in our existence or else we instead would of never been able to make it this far.”

“True...But still, do you think you can face that part of you?...I can’t afford to lose you...not again...” he whispered that last part, pain thick in his voice as he bowed his head, the memory still fresh in his mind. With an exasperated sigh, Knichtus walked over to him and touched his forehead to his, his pink eyes looking into Maurukhun’s bright white ones. “Knichtus?...”

“Don’t worry, I don’t intend to lose to myself again, not in a fight like this. I hope Mordremoth is ready because our fears might turn be the very thing to turn against him. We WILL win this.” grinning the elder Charr couldn’t help but get caught up in his smile, it was rare to see, and he wanted to make it possible that one day he will see it every day. He offered his hand and Knichtus nodded, the two of them grabbing the base of the arm with a firm shake.

“For Tyria! For Ascalon! For the legions!”

Service-ESA Wyvern/Quasivyera and Drake Positions

In my head world dunamatio the group of animals known as dragons is an extremely widespread and varied group and in this case, many functions as service animals for their handlers. Aggression is actually allowed to be displayed since these animals are more intelligent than dogs and are able to tell the difference between a non-physical or physical threat to their handler. There are of course laws in place and certifications that they must pass, they are also registered in a system and are required to wear their IDs, vest or collar that contains this information at all times during public access.

Pet Access/ESA-are allowed to join their owner in public places that allow them and some stores, must have basic public access training, cannot show any form of aggression, must behave and ignore other animals when in store or any public place.

Service (Psychiatric, Medical Alert, Mobility Assistance, Guide and Hearing, Allergy)-Are trained specifically for a task or multiple for someone with a disability or struggling with certain tasks that need an external presence to interrupt, mitigate, or assist. They are also not allowed to show any PHYSICAL signs of aggression, however they can ‘glare’ and body block if it gets people to back off.

Personal Protection (Military, Personal, Private/Guard all fall under this)-These are some of the most highly trained and screened wyverns and drakes, they have to past public access certification and then aggression control screening, and then a second level of public access certification to make sure they are completely sure of being able to distinguish threats and keeping themselves in control.

Service-Protection-This dual purpose animal is a hard one to obtain, typically the only animal that usually can handle both these jobs are Quasivypera because of their high intelligence and their intense attachment to their handlers, being completely aware of their moods, the environment and being able to completely navigate that without being overwhelmed. Knichtus’ wyvern Mordecai falls into this category, and Knichtus paid a pretty penny to get the exact chick he wanted, but it was worth every scent, Mordecai loves being the support his master needs in order to face challenges, get through hard times and having his back, since Knichtus has a penchant for fighting when his anger overloads.

Nothing much, mental health and school blaahh.

My charr sonas skull design and hair, he does have horns just didn’t feel like sticking it on while trying to divide out his hair.

Knichtus is a transmale charr, part of my headworld has the the charr do have subspecies and they have distinct types. 

Knichtus is Flame Legion CharrxShiverpeak Charr, probably with some recent lineage that is can be traced back to Ascalon.

His name is soft but still has some harshness to, it is to represent his sense of self.

Shiverpeak charr are denser and fluffier than their Ascalon counterparts, while also being on the shorter side, they love the cold, and because of their fun competition with the norn love to boast their strengths, eat meat and drink ale. (Knichtus avoids drinking though, unless its a quality brew)

They are still anti-god like most charr but they have a more spiritual approach, while they don’t put any believe in any deity, they do acknowledge the existance of the Norns great spirits and the power of nature. They are more jovial in their approach with strangers but are still not quick to trust.

The sexual dimorphism in Shiverpeak charr is even less noticeble than their Ascalon cousins, your best bet is looking at the density of fluffiness. Females tend to be fluffier than the males with only slightly smaller horns.

Knichtus’ flame legion lineage does result in alot of prejudice, and he is unstable emotionally at times, he is a charr very in tune with magic which makes him extremely sensitive towards certain stimuli.

Oh look more charr doodles, this is my charr-sona Knichtus! He is a robust, chubby, very fluffy guardian/engineer charr of the Iron legion. He has a pink flaming tail tip as a result of being a Flame Legion halfling, he suffers alot of prejudice because of heritage (he is a transmale charr but for my rp world the charr don’t care much about identification, they care more if your going to just let that stop you. Knichtus basically owns this part of himself after getting some encouragement and his bandmates respect that.) In modern AU he suffers from mental illness, which much later on he gets help for. Despite the bright pink hair and eyes he’s fairly neutral in responses 90% of the time, he gets a brighter disposition after some healing.

None of the stuff here except for the hair is based off in-game assets, he is a custom charr, I loved designing his horns.

LOL SO CRAP! @fablepaint Thank you for the animation tutorials during your stream, I present, the first thing I tried to make in CSP EX (Yes i bought it! Its on sale right now) using their animation features. I just wanted to get used to the control so here have a shitty, very quickly done ball bounce, that I might just try to keep working on and smoothing out.

Since my vet school semester/block has started, I have seen a plethora of eager first years donning smelly lab coats, entering the dungeon of doom, and frantically wonder how they will ever retain all of this anatomy information. Well, never fear, your upperclassman is here with some useful resources to make cramming those impossibly tiny structures into your brain a little bit easier.

This website is AMAZING!!!! It is organized by section and you can sit in your PJs as you go through real pictures of anatomy that are very detailed and extremely helpful (they even have quizzes!). USE THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!

Another wonderful website for real pictures of carnivore and ungulate anatomy! I supplemented VCA with this one and found it useful, especially starting in second semester when we began large animal/ungulates.

This was good practice but never again will I ever do this many gold trims for FUN, even simplified that was pain in the ass kudos to the character design who had to paint that texture!
