Nichelle Nichols has passed away. 

Martin Luther King once convinced her to continue on as Uhura when she was about to quit. He told her how she was a role model for so many people and had to stay on. He rightfully recognized her as a trailblazer and the inspiration she continued to be.

We’re entering the home stretch on Duck Prints Press’s third crowdfunding campaign. She Wears the Midnight Crown and He Bears the Cape of Stars are anthologies of wlw and mlm stories that share a common theme: masquerades, the queerer and more unusual the better! The 18 stories in each anthology – 36 stories total if you get both books! – are set in many different times and places and genres, and feature diverse queer and genderqueer characters…and every story has a happy ending!

Duck Prints Press LLC is over the moon to share our next to anthologies with you: She Wears the Midnight Crown and He Bears the Cape of Stars!

These two anthologies share a common theme – masquerades – and each features different kinds of relationships. She Wears the Midnight Crown contains 18 wlw stories; He Bears the Cape of Stars contains 18 mlm stories. Both collections tell myriad stories exploring how these characters’ relationships develop, grow, and change while they attend or participate in masquerades!

Our 36 contributors have stretched their imaginations to present innovative stories exploring what a masquerade can be…and, of course, tell rich, engaging tales of wonderful queer folk finding love, companionship, acceptance, the queer platonic relationship of their dreams, or the found family they deserve. The collected works feature characters in all the colors of the Pride rainbow, queer and genderqueer, and these diverse individuals inhabit worlds ranging from science fiction settings where everyone must be masked to breathe, to fantasies where no one wears a literal mask but everyone shows the world a false guise, to iterations of the real world where some people lean into deception.

In addition to the stories by our authors - including new works by @alocalband, @fpwoper, @erajakira, @jhoomwrites, @tryslora, @p1013, @dragonmuse, @unforth, @faerytaleonfire, and @owlishintergalactic (and many others, who don't have Tumblr accounts ) - our books and merchandise also include gorgeous art by @thefriendlypigeon (cover art), @aceriee-art (enamel pins), @migglangelus (bookmarks), @alessariel (our dux mascots!), and @reshipkmn (patch). Today May the 26th 2022, My Time at Sandrock is released on early acess (so still in development but cheaper than in its final version, and it already has a lot of content) on Steam, and you can get the entire Bioshock games collection for free on Epic Games (for a few days).

MtaS takes place partly at the same time as My Time at Portia, in its neighbour village. It’s way more polished graphically and gameplay-wise, has all kind of fun new features and game mechanics, great music, more lore and interesting characters to learn about and potentially romance, more home and character customization, multiplayer is included just not available yet for those who like to play with a friend, and more cute creatures to pet! And it’s just really pretty, wholesome sandbox/RPG all around and totally will get you hooked for many many hours, get it while it’s cheap!

Bloodywood is an Indian metal band from New Delhi, formed in 2016. They began as a parody band that uploaded metal covers of pop songs on YouTube, but later went on to write their own original material. The band has cited Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Alter Bridge, and Limp Bizkit as their musical influences. (x)

This band is not only made of amazing musicians and singers, they are also amazing human beings.

Their songs, all their original songs, aren’t just fantastic bangers, they talk about depression, the loss of a loved person or pet, current politic issues, sexual abuse, and harrassment at school/work/home... but in such way that it’s always uplifting, energizing, and you will even feel a burning joy at hearing what they have to say about rapists. 

They have used their platform and the little money they made as a no-label relatively young band, to offer councelling sessions, help an animal shelter etc.

They deserve all the awards for their music, bring so much fire and new blood to the genre, but also so much recognition for all the good they do.
