INDIA10811 by a Psychiatrist's view Via Flickr: Albinism is a genetic condition that results in a lack of pigment in the skin, hair, and eyes. People with albinism often face discrimination, stigma, and social exclusion in many parts of the world, including India. One of the most significant challenges that Indians with albinism face is the risk of sun damage and skin cancer due to the lack of melanin in their skin. They need to take extra precautions to protect themselves from the sun, such as wearing protective clothing and sunscreen. A challenge faced by Indians with albinism is the lack of awareness and understanding of the condition among the general public, which often leads to discrimination, bullying, and exclusion. There is also a lack of resources and support for people with albinism, including access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. In some parts of India, people with albinism have been subjected to superstitions and myths, leading to harmful practices such as ostracism, abandonment, or even violence. Despite these challenges, many Indians with albinism are resilient and work hard to overcome these barriers to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Some have even become advocates for the rights of people with albinism and work to raise awareness and promote inclusion and acceptance. This child one of several in a family of Albinos faces poverty and ridicule and must resort to asking for alms to survive. Haji Malang Kalyan MumBai Photography’s new conscience linktr.ee/GlennLosack
