DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HEART ATTACK AND CARDIAC ARREST
Heart Attack, let’s see how many of us know the difference between this and a cardiac arrest. People usually think that both are the same but however, it’s not. But it is really necessary to understand what happens in both of these processes.
It’s good to understand the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest.
WHAT IS A HEART ATTACK?
A heart attack is a blockage in a coronary artery, which provides the blood-carrying oxygen to the heart. If anything blocks the flow of blood through one of these critical arteries for more than 20 or 30 minutes, the heart will not receive enough oxygen, and part of the heart muscle fed by that artery will die.
Not all the heart attacks to the stereotype of a man with his chest pain. And half the time it’s not a man whose heart is under pressure, it’s a woman.
HERE ARE SOME TYPICAL SYMPTOMS:
Chest pain is common for both genders. It can feel heaviness, burning, or squeezing at the middle of the chest. Some people describe the pain in terms of tightness or pressure, which may move from the chest to arm, the jaw, neck, or back.
So the common symptoms of heart attack for both genders include breaking a cold sweat, general weakness, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness and pain between the shoulder blades. Women are more likely than men to complain of these less common symptoms as well as jaw and back pain, trouble sleeping due to the pain. They may also have a sense that something is terribly wrong. If you or any of the people around you have any of these symptoms, call emergency line immediately and take an aspirin.
An aspirin helps to break up the blood clot that is causing the heart attack.
WHAT IS CARDIAC ARREST?
A cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops beating effectively and blood is not delivered in sufficient quantities to the heart and brain to sustain life. The primary cause of a cardiac arrest may be a massive heart attack with extensive heart muscle damage or some other insult to the heart, including the effect of drugs. But often cardiac arrest occurs from damage to other organs. For example, if there is respiratory failure from drowning, aspiration of food, or severe pneumonia, then sufficient oxygen is not delivered to the heart and a cardiac arrest will ensue. If an insult to the brain occurs from a stroke, head trauma, or a drug overdose, then the absence of signals telling the lungs to breathe will cause lack of oxygen and cardiac arrest.
The definition of death is when the heart stops beating, but the cause of the cardiac arrest may well have nothing to do with heart disease.
CARDIAC ARREST: ACT QUICKLY
According to the American Heart Association, each year more than 300,000 people have cardiac arrests outside of a hospital. More than 92 percent of cardiac arrest victims did not survive. A person’s chances of surviving is reduced by 7 percent to 10 percent with every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation. Cardiac arrest can sometimes be reversed by defibrillation, if it’s treated within a few minutes with an electric shock to the heart that will restore a normal heartbeat. Unfortunately, however, few attempts at resuscitation succeed after 10 minutes.
The conclusion is that it’s critical to act quickly whether you suspect that a person is having a heart attack or going into cardiac arrest.
At any circumstances call emergency and make sure the person reaches the hospital in an ambulance.

BALANCING THE PRE AND POST-WORKOUT MEAL
Food! Food is the most important thing wherever you go or for whatever we do. You gain weight and also lose weight with the foods you take. There has to be a balance between the food and the meal you take every day. These meals can include the food which we intake before and after the workout.
Firstly, identify what your body needs and demands to be fueled. You should really take a break from all the junk food lying around you. Let’s talk about what you should include in your pre and post work out meals. The calories of both these meals should be a part of your daily calorie count, not more or less. This refers to the last meal you eat before your workout. It is also known as the best dose of instant energy before a strenuous session. For this, make sure that you are balancing both your carbohydrate and protein intake. Never get tensed about how much you have exactly consumed before the intake as you can always shred while you work out. It’s very important to know what your working is going to be and how many calories you need to burn. This is where the body type and metabolism come into the picture.
PRE
WORKOUT
This is what it is aimed at: – to reduce the glycogen depletion in your muscles – to reduce the protein breakdown and – to reduce the cortisol levels in the body after your workout
A very famous nutritionist Sujetha Shetty says:
“The meals around your workouts have a major role to play in the effectiveness and results you are going to get from your workouts.”
PRE WORKUT SNACKS:
Plain Greek yogurt with berries and granola.
Whole-fruit smoothie.
High-protein oatmeal and blueberries.
Banana with peanut butter and honey.
Apple with almond butter and raisins.
POST WORK:
Your body is in the anabolic phase after your workout so it is important what kind of food you take after that. This should basically help you repair your body or recover and adjust to the session you completed.
So, it needs to have both proteins and a bit of carbohydrate and a little fat to achieve the following:
• Reduce cortisol levels • Supply the muscle with glycogen that was used during your workout • Supply enough protein to the muscle so that it can repair itself • To reduce muscle stiffness and fatigue.
POST
WORKOUT
SNACKS:
Protein Shake with Banana.
Peanut Butter & Banana on Rice Cakes.
Yogurt and Fresh Berries.
Tuna on Whole Wheat.

TOP 5 WAYS TO BURN YOUR BELLY FAT
We all know how belly fat makes us look bad. But that is not the only reason to be sad about. Belly fat also is strongly linked to diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart diseases. Losing belly fat has a lot of benefits for your health and it makes you live longer and healthier. If you have a lot of belly fat around your waistline then you should quickly start working on how to get rid of it. Read ahead to know more about belly fat and to burn the unwanted calories with these 5 ways.
HIGH PROTEIN DIET:
You can control your weight with protein intake. Protein is highly important nutrient for weight control. High protein intake increases the release of a hormone, which decreases your appetite. Protein also raises your metabolism and helps you retain muscle mass during weight loss. Many observational studies show that people who eat more protein tend to have less abdominal fat than those who eat a lower-protein diet. Make sure that every diet includes a good protein source like fish, chicken breast, whey protein or beans.
REDUCE STRESS:
We tend to take a lot of stress on a daily basis, the time we leave from home till the time we reach home at night, and sometimes even after we come back home we tend to argue with the wife or some family issues. Increased stress always adds to the fat gain in the middle as it releases cortisol. To help beat the stress, indulge in activities like Yoga, meditation or some sports.
CUT DOWN ON REFINED CARBS:
A high intake of carbs is associated with excessive belly fat. Reducing your carb intake or replacing refined carbs in your diet with healthy carb sources, such as whole grains, legumes or vegetables can give you great results. Some research suggests that simply replacing the carbs with unprocessed starchy carbs may improve metabolism and reduce belly fat.
BICYCLE EXERCISE:
Burning belly fat with cardio exercises is the best things to do. Ensure to build your abdominal muscles too so that once the fat is shed, the muscle is seen and you don’t look thin. The bicycle exercise is ranked number 1 because it requires abdominal stabilization, body rotation, and more abdominal muscle activity.
REVERSE CRUNCH:
The reverse crunch is one of the most core exercises which targets the lower abdomen muscles. To perform the right reverse crunch, lie down flat on your back with your hands beneath your hips. Bend the knees and lift them towards your head, drawing them upward slightly at the end of the movement. Lower your feet down just above the floor to complete one repetition. Add this exercise to your regular core routine to progress along your journey towards a tight, toned waistline! -Lie flat on the floor with arms to your sides.

CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS
Consistency and momentum are some great tools to include in your life. Sooner we figure out how to be consistent in life, the better for us, as it helps us find the right target and achieve our goals in a target time. It’s challenging to be consistent in life but everything needs consistency like a workout, to avoid binge eating, to maintain a diet, and to be healthy and fit.
BELOW ARE SOME OF THE WAYS YOU CAN BE CONSISTENT IN LIFE:CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK:
Firstly you need to recognize your goals and targets. Try to change your inner self rather than the outer appearance which will help you achieve goals and improve yourself. Always make sure to set goals and achieve them. The goals and targets you set should always be on the back of your head and think that no matter what, you need to achieve them in the set span of time. For example, you can think I’ll never go for more than 3 days without exercise.’ And my diet rule is ‘I won’t go for more than 2 meals without eating healthy proteins and vegetables.
SHORT TERM GOALS:
Having short-term goals is always important because having short-term goals and achieving them will prepare us for all the long-term goals we have. The short-term goals can be of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly. We need to adhere to ourselves in every aspect and admit and commit to each and every task in our daily lives so that we can achieve each and every goal be it short term or long term. Short term and long term goals can be of anything like family vacation plans, financial matters, and daily tasks. We need to keep setting the bar high each time we are able to meet all our targets and goals. Small habits like drinking 2 litres of water a day or eating an apple every day, will remind you of the bigger habits like exercising and tracking meals.
Not only that, small healthy habits make a difference in the long run. In this study, people who drank the daily recommended amount of water for 12 weeks lost 44% more weight than those who didn’t.
TAKE BREAKS:
While being consistent, we should also be realistic and understand that everything needs some time off and a break. No matter what you do in life, you should always be thoughtful of where to stop and take a break to understand where you are headed and analyze if everything is going in the right direction. Don’t allow your life or your tasks to affect you or to lead you to a stressful life. Before that think through and take a break. In order to do this, however, we do need regular breaks. Taking breaks actually enhances the development of strength.

NOT LOSING WEIGHT? HERE’S WHY
Are you working like anything to get into your dream shape? Are you still not seeing any results or weight loss after months of workout? There can be many reasons why you aren’t gaining the right shape or losing that fat from your body. Even though you are going to the gym regularly, there are many things gym goers should be taking care of. Below are the reasons why one is working really hard in the gym but still there are no results.
HIGH INTAKE OF ALCOHOL:
One should always have a thought to consume a moderate amount of alcohol and not exceed the limits. Alcohol intake can be one of the reasons why one is not losing weight. Especially people who drink more beer get what we call as ‘Beer belly’ which is really hard to shred. The calorie count in liquor is really high which is more than carbohydrates.
SUGARY DRINKS:
Sugary beverages can be one of the worst things to drink and gain unwanted fat. The fun fact about consuming sugary content is that it triggers our brain and does not allow us to eat properly after the intake of sugary drinks. In this case, we end up eating unwanted stuff and not the right food.
NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER:
According to a study, intake of 0.5 litres of water results in burning extra 23 calories, which translates to a weight loss of 2 kilos over in a span of one year. These results will be insanely beneficial if you drink cold water as the body expends a few more calories to get the water to your body temperature.
RIGHT, MIX OF TRAINING:
Everyone talks about cardio like the most underrated thing on earth but it really isn’t. Cardio workouts are best to reduce belly fat. Even Resistance training helps a lot and it ensures your metabolism is not slowed down and whatever is there under the fat looks good. Doing 30mins of cardio every time before you start your actual training helps you lose more fat than working out without cardio.

CROSSFIT MAKES YOU STRONGER THAN YOUR STRONGEST EXCUSE
CrossFit is a fitness regimen developed by Greg Glassman over several decades. Glassman was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. He then created a program specifically designed to improve fitness and health.
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.
All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time or power.
CrossFit has become a popular workout routine for women across various age groups.
CrossFitters claim that it is the adrenaline rush you feel after the workout gives you a sense of achievement, and that’s what is more exciting about crossfit. They say that it gives you a feeling of being a team, yet it’s like competing against yourself or a time or a score.
WHAT’S THE OBJECTIVE
The idea of the routine is to build your body in a way that it doesn’t become complacent. While gyms focus on isolated training, CrossFit uses functional movements that exercise a varied number of muscles.
While most of the frantic internet searches will throw up images of women CrossFitters with super strong bodies, you won’t end up looking like a weightlifter.
CrossFit is especially beneficial for women as it builds their metabolic conditioning, along with endurance, stamina and strength.
The routine doesn’t bulk you up, but in fact leans you down. While there are widespread misconceptions about the routine building too much muscle for women, over the years, more female participants have warmed up to CrossFit. About two years ago, women formed just 20% of the classes. That figure has now climbed to 35%.
Rest and restraint however, is as important as the workout itself. While CrossFit is a great tool for exercising, it is imperative to know your limits and keep them in mind. It is recommended starting a class with people at similar fitnesslevels as you, and stresses on the importance of stretching properly before and after the workout.
While the routine can be extended to children as young as seven years old, and adults as old as sixty-five, depending on vital stats, one must make sure the trainer is fully aware of all limitations as well as past medical history, in advance.
Step up with CrossFit, and you will feel stronger, more powerful and amazed everyday by how much you can push yourself if you are really motivated. From laying on the couch and bringing you will begin to wage your own wars. Even though it is against cellulite and not a fire-breathing dragon.

MUSIC PLAYS A VITAL ROLE DURING WORKOUT SESSION
Imagine yourself entering a workout studio with no music playing in the background and all you hear are the humming of the equipment, the instructors barking orders and the huffs and puffs of the trainees. You shrug and think, ‘’It doesn’t matter…” Well, hold on a second and take a step backwards; now, see yourself walking into a fitness studio that has music pumping all around it, be it from loudspeakers or with the exercisers working away to the beat playing on their music players. Now, ask yourself- which of the two studios are you more excited to enter?
There’s something about walking into a studio with a spring to your every step, a beat in your head and a tune on your lips that makes you look forward to that time of the day. Music has a way of enhancing the performance of a person. Moreover, it makes the workout more synchronized and somewhat more hyped. And it’s not just a stab in the dark; research shows that with the incorporation of music into their workout routine, a person is ‘distracted’ from the pain that they’re very physically aware of during exercising. Furthermore, it motivates them to carry on working out with greater enthusiasm, pushing them to increase the workload, level of intensity and duration.
WHEN MUSIC SPINS WITH YOU
Spinning workout trainers are not in the least oblivious to all these findings. Music has always been one of the most essential pieces of training and motivating factor in the Spinning program, the prime reason being, it plays an important role in establishing a connection between mind and body. Most people think of music as an entertainment factor and they are not wrong, but it is so much more than that. It is a tool which will help you pedal further to greater heights.
Music empowers your mind to be aware of the connection between your body, the bike and the environment as an entirety. The rhythm makes you to not just maintain your tempo but to actually push yourself further so that you become amazed at your own scope for an increased level of intensity. It also inspires you to endure the workout for a longer duration without overexerting yourself. On an emotional level, the music raises your spirit and calms you down and, yes, you need that to get going more efficiently with your spinning.
Furthermore, nothing encourages you better than seeing yourself pedalling on the count with everyone else in the studio. It makes you want to keep moving which is why people who love to dance are attracted to this specific workout. An upbeat tempo makes you want to work out harder than a slower tempo song but too fast music is not advisable.
HITTING THE RIGHT NOTE
Any random music will simply not do to put you into the zone; every spinning trainer knows that very well. Hence, the music selection is a crucial step at the onset of every spinning program. Certified Spinning Instructors receive training in the selection and use of appropriate music for each spinning class during which they are exposed to all kinds of music genres ranging from classical to new age, pop to rock, etc. Of course, the selection of music from one trainer to another will vary and so will its effectiveness because training is just one factor; personality, taste and experience will also determine how much of a ‘feel’ the trainees experience and benefit from their instructor’s choice of music.

WORKING OUT BUT NO RESULTS? LEARN TO MAXIMIZE ITS BENEFITS
Not everyone is consistent and motivated all the time to follow their fitness regimen on a day to day basis. There are a few who follow their workout regimen with utmost discipline ending up attaining their fitness goals and on the other hand, a lot of people don’t get to achieve their goals even after putting in a lot of hard work and effort at the gym. Their body looks exactly the same as how it was before hitting the gym. It can be very dissatisfying and highly frustrating after a certain point in time. This may lead to demotivation affecting mental health and one would want to give up on their health goals.
One has to always keep in mind that no matter how much they work out and put in the effort while lifting those weights, they have to follow certain to-dos because of which their body will look different than before.
To start off, ensure that you consult a physician/dietician or a trainer before you start your fitness program. Once you start, make sure to follow the diet and workout plan accordingly.
We bring you different ways to make your workout more productive and efficient.
PLAN YOUR MEALS:
Like how you plan and split your workouts through the week, it is also necessary to plan your diet throughout the day. Most of them think that it isn’t important to follow a diet procedure while following a fitness regimen. Always plan what you eat. As they say ‘you are what you eat’. Go for a low-fat meal with a moderate amount of protein and low fibre food a couple of hours before you hit the gym to keep you going throughout the session. You can also eat high energy snacks like a protein bar, banana, and yoghurt.
SLEEP:
Your body requires enough time to heal itself after a tiring day. Get 8 hours of sleep at night every day. Sleep can affect your physical and mental health in many ways. People suffer from heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart attack. It also affects your fitness regimen. You should not be going to the gym before getting proper sleep as lack of sleep leads to an increase of stress and working out in stress will not fetch you any results.
REST DAYS:
It’s good to be passionate about your body and your fitness goals, same time incorporate ‘rest days’ in your fitness regimen too. Do not let your body go through the stress it cannot handle. You may be sick sometimes and your body might need more rest than usual. As per a study, working out 4 times a week should be sufficient enough to get you fit.
WARM UP:
Do not go to the gym and starting lifting heavyweights directly. While the point of the exercise is to grow stronger, it is dangerous to expect your body to perform at a level far beyond your current capabilities right away. So before starting your work out, its good to start with a warm-up.
TRACK YOUR BODY:
Always make sure to track your body and know what exactly your body requires in terms of diet and physical fitness. You may also track to know where you are standing right now in terms of your growth. Once you understand your body, you can change your diet and fitness plans accordingly and set higher goals for yourself.

#HUMFITTOHINDIAFIT
The problem with most of us in this generation is that we are lazy. Blame it on long working hours or innumerable social commitments; the fact is that we give priority to everything else but fitness, because we always have an excuse to not invest time in it. And sometimes all we need is a little inspiration to get the wheels turning. And for most of us in India, the #HumFitTohIndiaFit challenge has become that source of inspiration.
If you haven’t been living under a rock over the last couple of days, you surely must be well acquainted with the fitness challenge launched by the former Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports – Mr. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Titled the #HumFitTohIndiaFit challenge, Mr. Rathore has been urging people to share their pictures and videos on how to keep themselves fit. He even asked them share the fitness challenge with their friends. Celebrities were the first to jump on the wagon, and all thanks to them, the masses caught on as well.
Celebrities have also been tagging other known personalities as well, turning the movement viral on social media. Even the business tycoon Anand Mahindra and Market Gurus Mohnish Pabrai and Vijay Kedia extended their support towards the movement.
Infact, Mr. Rathore was the first person to upload a video where he was doing the push-ups. He nominated Saina Nehwal, Virat Kohli and Hrithik Roshan to follow through and nominate others. While Saina chose to do deadlifts, Hrithik Roshan hopped on for a ride on his cycle and Virat Kohli stuck to his favourite core workout – Spider planks. In fact, some did not even wait to get challenged in order to lend their support to the #HumFitTohIndiaFit challenge. P.T. Usha posted a video of her running, saying, “Nobody challenged me but I’m here being active #HumFitTohIndiaFit”. And this has gotten the whole country excited about displaying their exercising prowess to their social media followers. It’s not like people were unaware of the zillion perks that come with being fit.
But why has something like the#HumFitTohIndiaFit got people talking about fitness?
You can’t deny it, but the active participation by celebrities towards this cause has made a huge impact. Had it been a movement that simply caught on with the masses, probably it would have reached a slow death and many would still have been unaware of it. So this brings us to an important question, “How big a role do influencers play in the fitness game”?
Imagine waking up in the morning and checking out your Instagram page. The first thing you notice is a picture/video of your favourite celebrity doing their morning workout. You get an instant adrenaline rush, put on your sports shoes and hit the gym for a quick workout. All it took was for you to watch somebody else achieving their desired result through workout in order to give you the motivation. Ideally, influencers post workout videos, tips, images, stories and even go live as a way to interact directly with their audience. Everything they document is very well thought out, looks a certain way and transmits a certain call-to-action to you in a very indirect manner. Most often they aren’t even directly telling you to get off your bed and get moving. All they do is make their workout look so easy, hence giving you the impression that it doesn’t take much to achieve a fitter body. Ofcourse one should be cautious enough to realise that certain training is done well under supervision of a professional and should not be attempted unsupervised at home.
Influencers have also played a big role in promoting fitness brands. Due to their extensive list of followers, sporting brands take the opportunity to piggyback on their popularity. Gone are the days when only mass media like television, radio and newspaper ads used to do the trick. Influencers are the new medium for advertising. And why not. There are mostly no scripts involved and no planned expressions. It almost feels like the influencer is directly talking to his/her audience and reciting their personal positive experience from using the brand. Being an influencer has also become a full-time profession for many because the returns on investment are huge. It takes almost nothing to create a social media page and the minor cost for promoting your page or post is minimal as compared to its reach.
But all things being said, fitness is something that deserves to get the attention it has been receiving.
With the #HumFitTohIndiaFit campaign, we hope that fitness becomes a life goal for many and doesn’t stay restricted to being a social media fad. The influencers have done their bit and now it’s up to the masses to follow up.

LET THE SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS BEGIN
We all have a little voice inside of us. This voice belongs to a person living within us, our guide and our philosopher. For your overall wellbeing, it is important you find this person within you right now. Go ahead, search for the guy, I will wait.
Found him? Great, now take a gun and shoot the damn guy!
Wait, what?? Shoot him? Is he serious? – That is what you are thinking, aren’t you? Oh, I am dead serious. Take a gun and shoot him now. You have no time to waste!
Guns not your thing? Ok, try drowning him instead. Whatever works for you, just do it. I shall wait again. Ok quick disclaimer here; do not actually do any shooting or drowning or whatever else your devious mind just thought of. If you do, then for starters you would not be able to read the rest of this article and we do not want that, do we?
This guy inside of you is the devil. You need to get rid of him as soon as you can.
“Aw, he is not that bad, he is so sweet” – That’s what you are probably thinking of right now. Trust me, he is THAT bad and no he definitely is not sweet. You find him sweet because he makes you eat cakes and cookies. In reality, he is like the witch from the Hansel and Gretel story. Lures you in with chocolates, pastries and loads of sugar and before you know it, you are being served as pot roast.
If you feel this guy is so nice, then just ask yourself a few basic questions:
Do you want to look good? Do you want to be fit? Do you crave for your family and friends to look at you and be amazed at your physical transformation?
If yes, then what is stopping you from achieving all of that? What is stopping your transformation? It is that damn voice inside of you. Tells you all what you want to hear but never lets you actually do anything. Even if you do start on some fitness routine, who makes you stop after a while? Who provides you with all those excuses?
It’s the guy inside of you! It is time you realized that he has taken you as a hostage without you even knowing about it. Till you get rid of this guy, your transformation will not start. You will just go through the think-start-stop routine.
You do not need to be a spiritual guru to understand that mind, body and soul works together. If any one aspect is being neglected, the others will start to wither as well. There are enough holistic and scientific studies to tell you that.
So this person that you have let inside of you, this person who is telling you what to do and more importantly what not to do, is the villain here. You get rid of this guy and suddenly you will be well on your way achieving everything that you ever wanted from James Bonds’ charm, Dwayne Johnson’s body to Usain Bolt’s endurance.
It all starts with you taking your metaphoric gun, searching for your captor and rescuing yourself. It all starts with you shooting the person that has not allowed you to commence your transformation journey and stay on the path. Shoot your way out, Shoot The Hostage!

WHAT DOES TRANSFORMATION MEAN TO YOU?
In the previous post, we touched upon what is possibly holding you back from starting on your transformation journey. However, before you actually take the step towards change, it is highly necessary to first understand what transformation means to you?
Of course you could be thinking why do I need to know that?
When watching any sport, do you think the game becomes much more exciting when you are supporting a particular team or individual? While aficionados of a sport may enjoy the occasional neutral game, the whole sport becomes that much more interesting when you want a particular side to win.
Now think of a soldier when he is fighting for his country. The soldiers in an army may come from different backgrounds, have different personalities and may even not get along with each other. But when they are fighting for a cause, a common cause, they all unite for that moment and are really able to rise above and beyond their duty.
To understand what you are fighting for, to know why you are supporting a cause enables us stay the course. It creates mental strength and makes the cause a part of our daily lives. Unfortunately when it comes to fitness, most of us are able to make a start but to stay the course is almost always difficult. No wonder most studies show getting fit is the most broken New Year resolution in the entire world. It means the world over, people promise themselves this year I will work on my physical health but are never able to keep that promise to them.
This is the reason understanding yourself, your reason for transformation is so vital. Mind you transformation is a broad concept. It could mean any number of things. It means something else to each one of us.
For some people, it may simply mean feeling fit. It may mean overcoming fatigue or chronic tiredness.
For others, it could mean a complete physical transformation with a bulkier body frame, toned muscles and chiselled jawline.
On the other hand, there are those that want a synergy between their mind, body and soul. They want their physical and mental self to complement each other and feed of one another.
It does not matter in what category you fall under. What matters that you understand, truly recognize the category that you belong. Know why you want a transformation in the first place. Understanding your inner self will help transform your physical body. It will give you the much needed boost that one requires to start a fitness regime and actually stay with it till it becomes second nature. It is only then that you will find a genuine change, where you start enjoying the journey and the destination becomes just an excuse.

AND THE AWARD FOR THE BEST EXCUSE OF THE YEAR GOES TO…
I read recently that Indian Americans have been winning the prestigious spelling bee contest in US for well over a decade. Apparently Indian American kids are great at spellings. So it got me thinking. What are Indians in India great at? There are many things of course but one area where we are undisputed champions is in “making excuses”. Yep excuse after excuse for not following up on our promise to be healthy. We are so good at it, that we thought we should honour ourselves with the first ever annual award for making excuses.
So without further ado, the award for the best excuse master this year goes to…..YOU.
Yes YOU. Congratulations. Your excuses for not working out have been truly exceptional. I hope you are proud of yourself. As the winner of our prestigious award, you not only get the title of the ‘Excuse Master’ of the year, but also get a lifetime of belly pudge, blocked arteries and lazy brain syndrome.
While your excuses were definitely innovative, let us look at some of the other excuses that just missed the cut:
1) I just don’t have the time – Now this one just could not win our award. I mean when someone gives this kind of excuse they are not even trying. Not even pretending they want to be fit. I hear our Prime Minister is a regular practitioner of yoga. But of course your job is much more complex with longer hours so how could you ever have any time to exercise?
2) I want to go to the gym on Monday-Wednesday-Fridays but my gym membership allows me to go only Tuesday-Thursday-Saturdays.
3) I am not sure if I want to work-out in a gym, go swimming, practice yoga or prefer Zumba.
4) I paid a lot of money for gym membership last year but it all went to waste; can’t spend on another yearly membership.
5) I travel a lot within India.
6) I can’t be bound by any timing thanks to my work or family schedule.
And so on…….
Reason these excuses could not win our award…well just one word – GoodVice. If you haven’t already done so, download the GoodVice app now. Apple iPhone users can use this link and Android users, please click here.
Of course you can use our website as well www.goodvice.com. Go through the app or website features and now trying making any of those above excuses.
You can’t, can you?
While for some people there are legitimate reasons, for most as long as there is the ability to make an excuse, they will grab at it as their reason for not taking care of their body.
With GoodVice, we have taken out any possible excuse you may have since with us, you do not need annual memberships, you can work-out anywhere at the facility of your choice, you choose the timing, the date and even the activity. Swimming today and yoga tomorrow? Then a good work-out round at a top-notch fitness center? Not a problem. You can plan your fitness transformation as per your own specific requirements, preferences and needs.
So stop making those excuses and it is time to keep your promise to your own body. Anyways with GoodVice, none of your excuses will work anymore.
