hey so 9000 words now. I swear I'm trying to finish this soon, I just want to make this really good.

I know I'm taking way longer than usual to write the new chapter (College finals took all my energy) but as a little teaser, I will say that the first draft is done and it's roughly 5000 words, which will likely only increase as I fluff it up a bit. Thanks for your patience, I really want to make this chapter right, and I need more time to do it. I'm writing a new perspective, so maybe place your bets now on who it is.

Hnhngh I'm trying to write the newest chapter of Double negatives but the urge to go back and rewrite earlier chapters is like a siren's song. But I resist (it will happen later though). I want to fluff up the earlier chapters, I started writing very concise, but this is fanfic, I'm not a fancy schmancy restaurant that gives you like three bites of food per meal, I want to be a baker that creates the most elaborate cakes with a load of frosting on top.

I was on itch.io last night scrolling through games trying to kill time. I scrolled past a Doom remake running on the picobit engine, and I saw the cover art and legitimately thought: "Wait, is that a game about Xisuma?" The Minecraft brainrot is real and it is here folks.

I love you comments that say “this made me giggle” or “I’m kicking my feet giddily reading this” or “I audibly gasped” because then it is so easy to picture another person doing those actions and it makes my heart burst. Like, yeah, there really is a real physical person that is reading this fic while cozy in bed or on the bus or wherever. And they are reacting to it and that is just so incredibly warm to realize.

I’m rereading comments on Double Negatives (I do it all the time) and I just love these two for a very odd reason. They both mention that they found bits of my writing funny, which I didn’t expect at all. I try to make this story heart wrenching and tense, but I forget that I also put a little bit of humor, even unknowingly, into my writing. And I find it beautiful that people can still find something funny in this tragedy (though it’s going to have a happy ending, it gets worse before it gets better). Idk, maybe I’m getting too philosophical about Ao3 comments, but it is comforting to realize that this story is not going to be a drudge of sadness, and that I still have ways to make people smile. I want this story to be hopeful.

I changed the summary of Double Negatives for like the seventh time now and I think I can be okay with it but if I do it again you have my full permission to shoot me.

Long ago, the Watchers gave Grian one chance to be a player again. One full life on Hermitcraft, and once he inevitably died, his old life would resume. No peaceful end, no new beginning, just a continuation of being a Watcher puppet. Grian thought he had plenty of time, but when a strange incident makes him lose that precious opportunity, he pleaded with the Watchers relentlessly. Surprisingly, they agreed, but with a particular addendum: he must tell the Hermits about the Watchers, and who exactly he is. Things don't go as planned. Faced with this, Grian has to learn what it means to truly be seen.

Final papers are kicking my ass right now and the only thing that's keeping me going is that my parents got kittens which is the best way to procrastinate writing college essays.

Genuinely find it hilarious that the Hermit Craft fandom mostly agreed that in fanfics the Watcher's pronouns are either they/them or it/its. And yeah it can be said that that might be considered viewing neopronouns as "unnatural" or "dehumanizing" but as a nonbinary person myself, I love the representation, even if not intentional. We need more Gener Queer people/entities that are just awful people, y'know?

I absolutely hate having to write summaries for Ao3 why is it so difficult. I've changed Double Negatives summary like three times and I still am not satisfied with it. Summaries suck just read the fic

Honestly I think Minecraft could be way funnier if Mojang gave us updates but told us jack diddly about them. Like can you imagine how funny it would be if they just added in dried ghasts--without any further knowledge. Just imagine the utter bewilderment of people stumbling upon these, and then the utter Chaos when somone thinks of putting a dried ghast in water, only to have a New Creature. It would make people go insane.

I think we need more strange creatures in Minecraft. Like pelicans. They're the weirdest bird, hell even the weirdest animal in my eyes. But it shouldn't be a passive mob. It has to be neutral, so when you attack it, it attacks back. And I don't mean attacks you in like the llama way where they spit and take half a heart of damage. I want people to Regret fighting pelicans. Make it grab the players face like the demigorgon from stranger things. Give it a stupid amount of health too. And just have them everywhere cause honestly I've seen pelicans in the weirdest locations and no place is safe from them. Striking fear into the hearts of players will enhance the game.

All I ask for is anteaters, and for them to have a little animation where they stand on their two legs and raise their arms when scared. Do you see my vision? Anteaters in Minecraft.
