These are the people who made that weird Sukkot zine!
Some screenshots of Making Menches’s story:

From October 2023:

They celebrated on Oct 7th as it happened and mocked rape victims.
And less than a day after the deadly shooting outside the Capital Jewish museum:

I always find it interesting that “they’re Semitic too” never extends to any other Semitic speaking group.
If we started referring to anti-Ethiopian racism as “antisemitism” everyone would be super confused
"muslims are literally semitic"
even if you were right that "semitic" was an actual ethnic category describing all peoples who speak semitic languages,
- islam is a religion, not an ethnicity. there are lots of muslims who are not even middle eastern
- not all muslims speak arabic or any other semitic language
like come on. really. you have the majority of the world's knowledge literally in your pocket and you still don't know anything. how?

1.Maybe it would be good to discuss the ways Jews do appear in goyish video essays? From what I’ve seen the options are:
-Holocaust (usually not focused on the internality of Jewish victims as people or the reality of what we lost +bonus if it the real topic is gay men)
-“Neo-Nazis are corrupting the youth”
-Red Scare (“Judaism=Communism the boys in blue are just as the Nazis”)
-Biography of a person who happened to be Jewish. Their Jewish descent will be mentioned a the start but the writer doesn’t know enough about Jewish culture to recognize and describe the ways it influenced the person they’ve decided to discuss.
-random out of nowhere interjection about the whiteness or non whiteness of Jews (see this a weird amount among Black video essayists for some reason)
-Discussion of only extremely surface level antisemitic tropes in place of a actual dialogue about antisemitism
-“Israel is Evil”
- “This (usually secular, atheist) jew agrees with me”
-“Jews were treated much better in Arab countries”
2. I think you should discuss “Antisemitism: an Analysis” because it’s probably the most watched video essay on antisemitism, maybe even on Jews. I think the pitfalls are indicative of how leftwing video essayists view and discuss Jews. Also I hate it.
3. Maybe talk about what kind of Jews are allowed into the space, what kinds of topics are accepted for them to discuss, and how they are allowed to represent their culture.
(Sorry if the numbered list sounded demanding. I’m really excited to see someone cover such an interesting topic)
writing the script for my video essay on the absence of jewish video essays; this is going to be long and very detailed and i have my work cut out for me hahaha. these are my sections so far, please offer suggestions or requests of things to mention. i’ll keep y’all updated on my progress as i plod along!

Funny how Jews are suddenly “the blond ones”
And still the ones abducting blond children for nefarious purposes.

People on tumblr: spread the most wild, antisemitic conspiracy theories without bothering with minimal verification
Also people on tumblr: get severe emotional distress from the conspiracy theories they help spread
It's honestly really sad...

What's your opinion on the new Superman film?
I didn’t enjoy it.
Here are my thoughts from the first five minutes of the movie
Spoilers
-Having Metahumans begin existing 300 years ago is stupid. It completely conflicts with DC lore. Being a Metahuman is genetic. Once the gene (which only some people have) is activated the active form is passed down like any other gene. If we take them literally then the first Metahuman appears (likely as an adult) in 1725. Do you know the number of descendants someone born in 1700 might have. We know from Impulse (Flash’s grandson) that meta humans are extremely likely to have Metahuman descendants even multiple generations later. If people with superpowers have existed for all of modern civilization then none of the movies conflicts make sense.
-Superman is not a Metahuman. Factually. His powers come from being an alien. Not the Metahuman gene. He can’t be a Metahuman. He is not human.
- the entire Boravia and Jarhanpur plot is bad and poorly thought out.
a. Geographic nonsense. Boravia is very clearly Eastern European coded (down to the language they speak) and Jarhanpur is pretty clearly middle eastern coded. There are no real life countries with a shared border matching that criteria. It’s not possible. There’s a bunch of shit in the way (the Balkans, Southern Europe, the sea, the Caucasus, Turkey, etc.)
b. It seems in poor taste to release a movie with both a dictator run Eastern European colonial power and a large number of middle eastern civilians being attacked when both the Russo-Ukrainian war and the October 7 war are still ongoing.
c. “Should Superman be morally responsible for stopping war?” and “Should Superman ever be compelled to take political stances?” Are super interesting questions that are not answered well by the film. (Also having a story where a moral is “Superman should act on his emotional response without consulting anyone and should be allowed to intimidate and threaten the political leaders of countries” with the plot point “Superman bases his entire identity on incomplete information and turns out to be wrong” feels especially ill thought out)
- They completely nerfed his powers. He’s honestly underwhelmingly vincable. It’s almost like they don’t understand how to tell a compelling Superman without benching SUPERMAN for most of the story.
-I don’t like the design of the fortress of solitude. Why does it sink beneath the ice? What purpose does this serve Superman? What purpose does this serve the story. It stops the bad guys for such a short time there’s basically no point.

The supposed “Israel/Palestine parallels” are the least interesting or noteworthy part of Superman (2025)
Also the least interesting weak point in the film
