Lovely Lunch: Mango Chive Turkey Burgers and Sweet Potato Fries

Burger: Ground Turkey from the Halifax Seaport Farmer’s Market, chives, fresh chopped garlic, sage, salt and pepper.

Form burger patties and fry on medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side (or more time depending on thickness).  I use a little bit of coconut oil for extra browning and because ground turkey is quite lean. 

Toppings can be whatever you like, but I love lettuce, tomato, cucumber, prosciutto that was placed under the broiler for a bit of crunch and most importantly, a mixture of mango chutney and mayonnaise for spread.

Sweet potato fries are perfect with this turkey burger.  You can whip up a quick curry mayo for dipping.

Curry Mayo: curry powder, cayenne pepper, honey, mayonnaise.  YUM!

Secret Weapon - Cousins

Cousins are one of those groups that came out of Halifax in the dead of the night, to take the city by storm in the morning. Together with Duzheknew, the group stands for a more eclectic stand towards what might be considered “the music scene” in Halifax, as far as rock/indie music goes, drawing influence from what might be perceived as Ty Segall, and Thee oh Sees (Cousins played with Thee oh Sees during the Halifax Pop Explosions in what I might consider the best show of the year).
