honestly i get so sad when i think about the irreparable damage done to the bisexual community because of the ahistorical redefinition of what it means to be bisexual, like i spent so long thinking that i couldn't be bi because I'd been told emphatically that bisexuality didn't include trans people and that other identies focused on personality over gender/genitals where bisexuality didn't, and that's not only biphobic as hell that's also just.... wrong
to all those people out there wondering if bisexuality is for them, the definition of bisexuality has been "attraction regardless of gender" since the 1970s, there's such a wonderfully diverse and rich history of bisexuality, i promise you there is room for you in this identity and I'm so sorry other people have told you otherwise

Is it just me or is there some weird new thing in aspec communities about asexuality and/or aromanticism not being spectrums. I've seen and heard it a couple times now and it confuses me.

sexuality is not about what label you feel most comfortable with, sexuality is about what label describes you accurately. if you're a man who only likes men, but you're uncomfortable calling yourself gay, you are still gay, just with internalized homophobia (which is very normal)! if you're attracted to both sexes, but you feel drawn to the label "lesbian"... too bad. don't use it. you're bisexual. i don't know where the idea comes from that you can just pick whatever words make you happy and claim that's your sexuality, but you can't. words have meanings.

I never understood the argument people bring up against bisexuals to "choose a side" like hetereo- or homosexual people didn't choose a side either because they can't control who they're attracted to. So why should we pick a side if we can't control who we're attracted to as well?

Xenogender kids are the gift that keep on giving
Look at this. Anti-trans bills popping up everywhere, plenty of them being passed and written into law. One state (Arkansas) literally cites a cat xenogender as the reason for their anti-trans law.
And you mogai-using narcissists still can't pull the freaking redwood tree out of your eye and you continue to call transmedicalists "bullies".
Look at what the hell you've just done. We have regressed back years and years because of you. We were so close to a widespread acceptance of transgender people in America, non-binary not even that close behind. And now, only six years later…people are grouping transgender people with "transspecies" lunatics.
I know you'll pull the excuse of "but they were transphobic to begin with!!!!!!1!!1!!!!". My dad was accepting of transgender people, genuinely curious about the topic, and then became horrified when his friend's daughter came out as a non-binary void. You can say it all you want, but gender is not a social construct. And this is not going to last forever.
Looking at the bills and how so many adults are starting an uproar against transgender people, I can guarantee that you mogai people are going to face laws in the way of making people accept your insane identities. You should be ashamed of yourselves for speaking over actual, real, dysphoric transgender people. Especially dysphoric teenagers, the ones you claim to be helping.
Of course, the amount of detransitioners and anti-trans bills will be incredibly high, so dysphoric transgender people will, of course, have to work around that and try once again to make themselves seem normal in society.
Xenogender kids. You are making things worse.

hello. i'm not exactly new but have been mostly lurking here. figured i'd be time for a instruction.
My LGBT opinions are the following:
• you need any form/severity of dysphoria to be trans.
• asexuality means no attraction to anyone (including romantic attraction)
• there is no asexual spectrum
• mspec lesbians aren't valid.
• I agree with and believe in some non-binary gender identities such as agender, bigender and some more.
• i'm against xenogender because they make no sense and are harmful for the trans community and the lgbt community in general because it makes us seem like a joke.
• pansexual is biphobic and transphobic
Have the day you deserve. 🫶🏻

Like imagine if one day someone just came up with a new word that meant "lesbian but will date trans women" or "lesbian but like women for their personalities instead of looks" and randomly decided that the old term lesbian meant you only like cis women, and just for their looks or body parts. And now everyone is either forced to adopt the new term, or keep the original term but have to deal with misconceptions and constantly have to clarify that you aren't what they randomly changed the definition of lesbian to mean. And when you point out "actually lesbian never excluded trans women or implied I don't care about personality" and people respond by saying "oh well I still like the new term anyways its a personal choice and it's not hurting anyone" even though the literal existence of the new word implies things that aren't true about the old term. That's exactly what pansexual did to bisexuals
Edit: I've been informed that people actually DO this to lesbians too and that's not cool. How about we don't base our orientations on attraction to trans people because trans men are men and trans women are women so they are already included in l g and b attractions

[ID: Two astronauts floating in space looking at Earth, which has the bisexual flag on it. One astronaut is saying: "Wait so bisexuality is the attraction to all genders?" The second astronaut is behind them, pointing a gun at them and saying, "Always has been." End ID]

Resources about bisexuality
I have put together some resources about bisexuals, bisexuality, our history, our community, the issues that we face and about the infamous bi/pan discourse.
Here you have a folder with a ton of PDFs about the most various topics regarding bisexual people (from biphobia to the health problems of bisexual people to studies about bi youth to representation in media to asylum seeking).
It has quite a huge section with entire books about bisexuality that you can read completely for free. In order to access all the contents in an easy way I heavily recommend using the guide to the folder, in which you can find a link to each PDF organized by topic and by number.
Here you have four google docs that I have put together:
Defining bisexuality (a collection of definitions of bisexuality by various bisexual activists and associations)
The Cultural Impact of Pansexuality (a collection of statements about pansexuality made by pansexuals or mainstream media outlets/celebrities like Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, the Rolling Stone and Miley Cyrus, among others)
Statistics, studies and articles about bisexual-specific issues (a collection of studies and articles about the issues that bisexuals face)
Debunking pro-pan arguments (a short thing I wrote doing exactly what the title says)
All these resources are also linked in this carrd.

Here's the thing.
We need to normalize the idea of not wanting sex. It's ok. It's chill.
You can be attracted to someone and not want sex. You're not better or worse then anyone else.
We need to normalize that. Then people can explore their identities more when they realize that no identity is inherently sexual. So you can like girls, not want sex, and NOT be ace. Like... that's normal.

If you're currently figuring out your sexuality, don't pressure yourself. You don't owe anyone a label, ever. I know it's a difficult process, but once you've worked it out you'll have an entire community backing you. Unfortunately most people don't figure out their sexuality after a quick Google search, if only it were that simple. You'll need patience. You'll need to question a lot of what you've previously thought about yourself to be true. You can feel lonely at times figuring yourself out, and it's a horrible feeling. Most people in the lgbtq+ community are completely open to answering questions and helping you out along the way even if they're a stranger. Listen to your gut and your heart, it's the only way to go.
Good luck💞
