"it's not fatphobia", my sister says, "it's just that the companies choose to cater to people of average weight because there is more profit in that market"
what the FUCK do you think fatphobia is, if not the exclusion and marginalization of fat people from any sort of public life in the name of capital profit???

I started reading Chinese (translated) novels on pirate websites and I have to say that it's the second male lead who is the ideal type but why the female protagonist always always chooses the scummy male? Throughout the novel the female protagonist is lowkey abused imprisoned restricted by the male protagonist but she finally chooses because he's the emperor.
Even when FL is smart cunning outwitting the villains etc. She still is written as *not good enough* for the male protagonist.
Maybe I'm reading the wrong novels.
Am I the only person who doesn’t get the hype of Korean manhwas, Japanese mangas, Light novels and k-online novels and Western novels (u.s) English speaking at all? I feel like the Chinese novels have done it better and are more progressive as well. Take for example, apothecary diaries. Yes, Maomao is very cute (derisive) but you can’t throw a rock in Qidian or Jjwxc without hitting a peerless poisoner, doctor, farm girl, consort, apathetic, aromantic fmc.
Hell, I feel like there’s even more variety as compared to Japanese and Korean medias. And don’t even get me started on how lack luster the male love interests are in Japanese, western and Korean medias. Time and time again, the heroine has to compromise with either their principles or their dignity in the face of those ml’s emotional or practical incompetence.
Yeah, yeah, very realistic, I can hear the droves of the fan girls moaning and squirming now abt how it actually makes for ‘complex’ realism. Fellow compatriots, I thought we are all reading for a sense of escapism?? Why the desperation to defend the misery and exploitation of a fictional character by the hands of a male?! Who’s the mc here’ who are y’all identifying with?!

Slaves who escaped were breaking the law. Literally. Outright.
Jewish people who escaped the Nazis were breaking the law. Literally. Outright.
The law is a horrible judge of morality.

So did you go back and finish it??????
I just reada really good fic but halfway through I realized "oh shit this is really familiar.... didn't I write something like this once?" And as I kept reading I kept predicting what happened next and the further I went the more convinced I was that they'd ripped off my story-
like, copied the ENTIRE plot and re-written it, just better than I had? The characters were more fleshed-out than mine were, and the POV was more interesting, and the pace made more sense- but it was MY STORY?
So close to the end I was like "holy shit.. do I message them? Ask if my story inspired theirs? Should I be angry? Flattered?" Cause their tags and description didn't mention me AT ALL, which, sure, it's fanfiction to begin with, but if you're using my work than at least credit me as inspo, right? Just to be courteous?
But I get to the end of the final chapter, and it's not finished, and I'm kind of disappointed cause I never finished my story and I was really immersed in their version now and had been looking forwards to seeing how they tied up my loose ends- so I scroll to the bottom to leave a comment, and.
It's MY URL.
IT WAS MY STORY THE WHOLE TIME.
THE ONE *I WROTE*.
In *2013*.
And FORGOT ABOUT
BECAUSE I WAS SO INSECURE ABOUT MY SLOPPY, SHALLOW, AMETEUR WRITING
And I'm just sitting here now staring into space thinking about every shitty story I've ever written now like
IT WAS ALL GOOD?
Tumblr media
IT WAS GOOD THIS WHOLE DAMN TIME??
Tumblr media
I'M A GOOD WRITER?????

South Korea's draft for young men between the ages of 19-35(?) has changed their society more than any one has studied. I'm sure there's a correlation between declining birthrate and the compulsory military service.
SK is highly patriarchal, given the existing social scenario where young boys are inducted into the military where bullying is the norm and the military itself is a place of toxic masculinity, it's no wonder women are distancing themselves from commitments.
Oh yes, let's not forget the insane working hours for both genders
Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".
The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?
