Hi y’all! I figured I’d introduce myself since I’ve been addicted to this app for a few days and am meeting lots of new people!

My name is Alex, and I’m a full-time theatre kid! I am a sucker for musicals, especially Newsies, Spring Awakening, and Moulin Rouge. I’m a huge reader and Taylor Swift enthusiast.

I also recently started posting on AO3, so I now love to write fanfics, especially about Newsies and Percy Jackson. On here, you’ll mostly catch me reblogging everything that pops onto my home page, posting updates on my fics, and occasionally about Taylor Swift or the never ending college process.

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

I’d like to propose a concept to my Tumblr void I think many people will appreciate if they stumble by this:

Sunrise Cinema. It’s a routine I’ve kept for years and that has saved my mental health during the packed school year or when I’m working.

Every day, I wake up like an hour and a half to two hours early and immediately put on one of my 3 comfort movies: Frozen, Luca, or Zootopia (notice how they’re feel-good movies that take up quite little mental energy). While I put on my makeup, clothes, do my hair, make my coffee, etc. I carry my phone from room to room so I can watch my movie, and I don’t let myself think about anything but that silly movie and what I’m doing in that moment. I don’t turn the movie off til I’m out the door and in my car.

It has done wonders for my mental health (speaking as someone who does WAY too much and always has) and even setting aside 10 minutes to watch a cute little short on Disney or Youtube can change your day. I’ve also found this works better with movies rather than music (hence Sunrise Cinema), especially if you only give yourself one or two to choose from. Additionally, if you’re like me and don’t have time to watch new shows or movies during the day, this could be your time to watch them!
