Weight Loss Update Week 2
Hi Team,
Here’s an update for the week of January 18th, and I thought I’d clarify a few of my processes. First, I track Monday to Monday, even though I weight less today than the weight shown on this post I’m tracking this in post. Second, I typically try and post for the average work-week (MON-FRI) — doing it first thing after my cardio; sorry if it seems rushed I like to reward myself with a hot shower. Third, I work as an auditor. This means most of my work can be done from home and allows for breathing room when I’m not at work or enduring a busy season; I’m most busy in the summer. Finally, I’m not a doctor or a professional, but I do like to listen to them.
My Diet is ok.
Openly I like to advocate for a vegetarian lifestyle and typically go back on forth between being a vegan. I don’t enjoy animal suffering, Veganism is definitely the most ethical diet you can subscribe to that doubles as a philosophy. I want to go back on a vegan diet, but I haven’t really completed enough research into dietetics while vegan. I did however do the math, costing an average of $75 a month more to go strictly vegan (per my individual needs). Please don’t cite a research paper at me, I’ve already read it.

Water Weight and You!
Yo, it’s the dude and I just woke up to some major losses. If you can believe it I lost a whole three pounds in one day—no need to be jealous I’m sure you are! All I did was just stop drinking water and now my tongue is chapped. Hey, can you call an ambulance–I think my throat is swelling shut...
As much as it hurts to admit, I didn’t lose more that a fifth of a pound dieting yesterday. “Uffdah,” as the Scandinavians would say, “your scale can’t lie to you?” Now, a scale doesn’t have the capacity to feel anything, other than the weight of my mistakes. So, in this case I was severely dehydrated and my leakage had the hue of a mandarin orange.
You should probably drink some water.
One of the greatest things about dieting is getting to see your body physically transform over time. If I had the confidence to take a shirtless pic I’d go to the beach, but I can already see changes after only losing about five pounds. Now, two weeks of regular exercise and healthy meal prep can go a long way to making you regain some lost confidence. Well, daily weigh-ins (which I do) inadvertently can cause harm to folx if they aren’t managing factors other than their weight.
Like staying hydrated, managing your vitamins, and achieving your daily macros (Protein, Carb, and Fat %’s) all of the upkeep in our body is important. Almost none as important as water. The enemy of the daily weigh in, and essential part of keeping your body alive.
Weight Fluctuation is natural, get over it.
There is a massive war of attrition going on in your body every day you’re trying to diet properly. Resources are spread thin as the fight against yourself begins as your body starts digesting itself. This is a taxing mental burden as thoughts of when you’ll allow the next vegan corndog takes precedent over drinking water.
Everything you put in your body has some amount of weight, and can only leave the body through a short list of gross.
Sweat
Spitting
Vomit
Poo Poo
Piss
Crying
Bleeding Out
Amputation
So, next to chopping your own arm off, you can’t really change that number very quickly. These are the only avenues by which burned calories can leave the body naturally–and fun fact, water helps with everything up there. So, even if you have a couple liters of water weighing you down, understand that that weight is healthy weight, and should be treated as sacred; not a hinderance.

Impossible Burgers are a Farce
Imma lay into it here a little thick, I don’t really care for the Impossible brand. Normally I’m a big fan of meat replacements as a springboard into getting away from meat altogether; but this stuff is pretty much garbage.
As a brand impossible has marketed itself as the closest thing you can get to meat, without actually consuming it. While I agree with this statement after taste testing nearly every option on the shelf, it also defeats the purpose of serving as “vegetarian-catered” food. Impossible is meant to reduce carbon emissions from factory farming, by inversely creating a product that symbolizes a deeply rooted systemic hatred of animals.
Yes, we live in a society.
Beef, chicken, pork, etc. are all products that are consumed en masse throughout the world. For their nutrition, taste, and societal pressures that have normalized ideas like meat at every meal. Resulting in billions of animals being slaughtered every year so we can have a McDonald’s in every town. If you can’t tell, I’m not really a fan of eating meat. So, why am I bothered by a product designed specifically to have no animal biproducts?
Because, it tastes like meat!
The point of a vegetarian options is to reflect the flavor complexes that are achievable only with no animal biproducts. Morningstar and Tofurkey are both great representatives of what is possible with only vegetables, while still making it taste comparable. A complete imitation of a burger, while neat, doesn’t communicate the point that vegetarian food can taste even better.
If this was in another circumstance this would be nitpicking, but in the context of animal genocide–I can’t let this stand. To quote one of the core principles of veganism, “animals have agency.” It’s insulting to animals to create a product that imitates the taste of their charred flesh as trendy. Major food chains are taking a step in the right direction by offering impossible alternatives, but if we strip the context of why this is important it becomes nothing more than a taste test.
Vegetarianism and veganism are legitimate lifestyles that promote a healthy lifestyle that has been proven to improve longevity. Reducing the risks of developing cancer, heart disease, and chronic fatigue. Suggesting the option with a caveat is less helpful than presenting it as an alternative. Everyone should try and cut some amount of meat from their diet, and without a cause they’ll drop it faster than a hashtag.

Joint Pain vs. Muscle Pain
Hey Folks,
It’s the dude, and I’ll say it now—don’t overwork your body. No matter the size of the person performing the exercise prep and form are extremely important to a good exercise. So, if you’re inexperienced, like me, don’t try to pull off a hundred burpees or a marathon every day; you will literally destroy your body.
If you don’t know, when you work out a muscle the fibers that make it up will break down. When your body is in recovery it will use stored up energy to go through the process of rebuilding your muscles. Protein is extremely helpful, because it can break down into core amino acids that promotes healthy lean muscle growth. The soreness you feel after a workout is a reward for a job well done.
However, if you experience pain in any of your joints—STOP WORKING OUT IMMEDIATELY! Apologies for being dramatic (and caps), but while joints do utilize muscles to... well move. Joint pain is often a sign you’re overstressing them, which could lead to permanent damaging the cartilage in your knees, elbows, wrists, etc.
Why do you think Grandparents across the country have metal knees?
Their shit hurts.
Working out properly is a person by person issue. As in, people are oftentimes hoping to achieve different goals out of working out. People that are bulking will be eating more and lifting less to carry more... folks that are cutting will lift more with less to get lean. And in my case, I’m trying to lose a lot of weight I gained on purpose, but would like to pretend was by mistake.
Work out however you’re able to, even if it’s just fifteen minutes a day with a stress band and a kettle bell. Results will take time, and if you want to enjoy them try and take care of your body now–before you fuck your shit up.

I’M LOSING IT
Hello,
I’m a dude, not a tall dude, not a cool dude, and not really an endearing dude. Welcome to my shitpost blog. More or less the goal of this is as an outlet to share my weight loss progress; without unwanted advice from the people I love. Since Tumblr is a pretty chill place I thought I’d make a blog to hang my woes and stare into the void... I mean rant at no one.
I’ve been dieting for a little over a week, and I’m coming up on my two year anniversary as a vegetarian. What prompted this change in my life as been a steady weight gain during the quarantine that never checked itself. Blowing up like a balloon I’ve gained close to sixty pounds since March 2020—that really ain’t healthy.
So, breaking my motivation out of quarantine has become a priority—as with the old adage, “what do you do to help a downing person? You hand them a baby so they at least feel bad if they drown...” I don’t think I understand how an analogy works. But, I really don’t care as long as I lose weight healthily.
Initial Update (week of January 11, 2021)
Weight: 300 lbs
Caloric Budget: 2,492 kcal
Deficit: 2,024 kcal
NOTES
I started exercising in short bursts. (15 minute sessions)
I’ve cut out drinking high caloric drinks.
I’m attempting three meals a day. (two small meals and one large)
Eight flights of stairs is a lot of stairs.
Thank you for taking an interest.
