You’re so woke coz I legit picture something like Zoro realises his feelings after a near-death experience, then he just goes to Sanji who’s recovering in the medical ward or something and is like, “Hey cook I like you, go out with me?” Sanji obviously goes “????? NO????” Then Zoro just says “Okay” and LEAVES THE ROOM, proceeds to never bring it up again. Because he confessed to Sanji, Sanji rejected him, maybe it stings a lot a bit but he’s gonna move on. Meanwhile Sanji is fuming (“is he fucking with me???”) and confused (“did I hallucinate that?????”) and later panicked (“Holy shit he confessed and I rejected him like that I’m the worst”). They’re so stupid it’s insane.

As much as I love “Zoro fell first” hc’s I feel like “Sanji fell first Zoro fell harder” tickles me more because hear me out: Sanji’s emotional intelligence would allow him to spot Zoro’s crush on him a mile away but this man understands everyone’s emotions but his own! He would slowly develop feelings for Zoro under layers of denial, self hate, internalised homophobia and insecurity, and he’d (unconsciously) show these feelings for Zoro through how he and Zeff had been interacting, AKA very emotionally repressed “insults as affection” “begrudging acts of service” Asian immigrant dad type love. What’s worse is he’d already accepted the fact that him and Zoro would never be a thing, both on his end (MEN?? In love???) and regarding Zoro’s reciprocity (he’d never love ME). With Zoro being a blockhead he’d never pick up on Sanji’s thoughts =/= words =/= actions type love.

Zoro on the other hand is someone who once realises what he wants, would 100% pursue it hell be damned, so pining insecure Zoro doesn’t feel that probable. At the most he’d be scared that a rift between him and Sanji would harm the crew, but this would be quickly solved by him consulting Luffy and getting the green light. Anyways I think SOMETHING has to happen for Zoro to suddenly see Sanji in a different light, then his respect-bordering-on-crush feelings for Sanji just whack him in the head like a brick, and he never goes back. Something like Sanji sacrificing himself for Zoro or a similar traumatising incident that makes him go “shit, I gotta marry the cook.” And rest assured Zoro would confront Sanji about it because he doesn’t need anyone’s permission to like Sanji and he doesn’t care what Sanji thinks about it, if he’s grossed out by it then he can fight him like a man!!

40+ post canon zosan au where they become this notorious pirate duo and get executed together. They bicker the entire walk from the dungeons to the execution stage and even silently engage in a “who takes the last breath” contest (zoro dies 1 second after sanji does)

P.S. what if eventually their bounty poster just becomes combined like the Dorry/Broggy one OR even better: you actually get extra reward for capturing them both bc the marines know just capturing one of them will result in the other bailing them out within a day

For those who don’t like friends to lovers what are your romantic relationships based on??? Do you just decide to fuck and kiss your co-worker/rival/classmate one day? How do you become lovers without being friends first? Even if you meet on an app and go on a few dates with the intention of entering a relationship, for the duration of the dates you’re technically still friends? Coz you get to know each other and like each other and spend time with each other? I love enemies/rivals to lovers but it’s pretty much unspoken that it’s enemies to FRIENDS to lovers instead of immediately fucking your sworn rival one random day.

I’m at Little Garden and so far the show is already disproving the “zosan is carried by fanon” claims because why are they so compatible and alike yet different 😭 ZS’s parallels with those two “we don’t remember why we started fighting” titans? 😭 I feel like Zoro and Sanji are set up as this pairing that keep each other on their feet but are also extremely powerful when combining strengths to fight. They can be married or close friends or platonic soulmates but they’re NOT enemies 🥺

zoro fell first but sanji fell harder BUT ALSO i think zoro is very restrained in how he pursues sanji up until theres a mutual confession and then he goes completely batshit. i cannot see this guy being normal about anything. pre confession zoros sulking in a corner while sanjis doing his thang, post confession zoro is looming over his shoulder barring his teeth.

sanji confesses and zoro blue screens and when he snaps out of it the first thing he does is propose. once he gets the go ahead from sanji hes doing everything his caveman brain can think of to keep him. hes gonna marry that cook and theres nothing anyone can do about it
