Ibrahim ibn Adham said,

I was in the womb of my mother alone

I entered this world alone

I will die alone

I will enter my grave alone

I will be questioned (in my grave) alone I will be resurrected from my grave alone

I will be taken to account alone

If I enter Paradise, I will enter it alone If I enter the Hellfire, I will enter it alone In these places no one will benefit me

Therefore, what interest do I have in people?

Islam and Boundaries

I’m a Muslim, I wont tolerate your disrespect, or rudeness. I will speak back because our Prophet ﷺ “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.”

Hadith 34, 40, Hadith an Nawawi

I’m a Muslim, I won’t sit and gossip with you.

I’m a Muslim, I’m not going to be friends with you if you don’t bring me closer to Allah. Not everyone is good for me, and I understand that. I know that a friend is not someone I have to feel defensive around, shy, or someone who insults me as a “joke.” I will wait for the people who are like sent from Allah. They will know the real me.

I’m a Muslim, I’m going to keep my honor, peace of mind, and not speak to you without a Mehram. What is from Allah won’t ever risk my Jannah, my home.

I’m a Muslim, I may be soft, and sensitive, but I am not fragile and delicate. You won’t be able to break me, because I’ve been broken and Allah pieced together all the fragments. 

I’m a Muslim, I know that our beloved Prophet ﷺ advised us to stay silent. I won’t over share with random people, and act like a clown just for you to like me.

Allah gave us honor, and dignity. Respect yourself for the sake of Allah. Being a Muslim does not mean you have to tolerate everything people do to you. 

I know you feel like a stranger in this world. You’re too kind for your own good. Don’t be too concerned on wronging those who have wronged you, focus more on doing good to those who have done good to you.

But also, don’t be naive. You’re not meant for this world, nor is it your home. Theirs evil in this world and you should know how to navigate it.

“A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer”

For the longest time I’ve thought that being a Muslim means you have to stay quiet on certain things because you’re Muslim, to be kind and respectful. Of course that’s true, but if someone is harming you you have to speak back. You have to be strong because all this Dunya does it hurt you when this deen is here to heal you. I wish I was a child again, or even back in my mothers stomach. I wish I was innocent, naive again.. not aware of this world and its darkness. But, the truth is I’m not. I’m too aware and have been hurt too many times.

Now I know that these are the boundaries set in place to prevent us from horrible and awful people. From living a miserable life. Allah forgive me because I chase people more than I chase you. Allah forgive me for disobeying your commands, you’re all that I have. Don’t fill my life with deep regret and sorrow as it gets harder and harder for me everyday.

how should I explain the girl that I am?

I’m sensitive but not fragile, things upset me easily, and haunt me, but I have been through enough where you can not break me just by shaking me.

Deep in my heart, I hate this dunya. Yet, I’m still not able to give up the things I love about it. 

I’m someone who’s in love with poetry, words that speak to the soul when I’m alone. Yet, when someone speaks to me, I am not able to always say the right words.

I’m very observant. I see others, yet for some reason they don’t see me.

I’m lonely so it helps me hear the voice inside of my clearly, but sometimes that voice is too much so I ignore it and distract myself 

I pretend to be strong but I cry to my Lord all the time, to others.. I put a shield of armor around me

I’m a shy person who is scared to talk, yet I always find myself speaking too much and over sharing.

I heard you wanted to take off your hijab

But what did you hear to make you believe that your hijab is a burden?

The hijab reminds you that you’re a Muslim whenever you’re in public, or around others who aren’t permissible for you. You’re reminded by Allah how to maintain yourself, and that modesty which makes your value like a diamond.  

The modesty which makes you shine brighter than the moon herself. The modesty which you’re rewarded for, in every single sweat.

The cloth that shields you from the eyes that were never meant to see you. A reminder for those who see your true value in this Dunya. 

The ones who love you for the sake of Allah, and a reminder of The one who gives you value. Allah Himself.

Remember every step you take wrapped in obedience, every moment you resist unveiling, is written for you, a testimony of love between you and your Lord.

You are not hidden.

You are honored.

You are not oppressed.

You are protected. Don’t let a fleeting feeling rob you of an eternal reward.

Don’t let a moment of pressure erase years of worship.

having God on your side doesn’t mean your boat will not face any storms

it means that no storm can ever sink your boat.

winds may howl

and skies may weep

but your boat with Him shall never sink deep

He who owns the heavens wide is the only protector by your side

so fear no tide, or darkest night.

with Allah, even storms birth light.

“none apart from Allah is your protector or helper”

you say you love me but I don’t believe you

will you love me in all of my seasons? will you love me for the sake of Allah?

will anyone show up for me the way Allah does 5 times a day? never tired, never annoyed, but with love for me?

how can say you love the ocean and yet you’re afraid of its depth?

There are always the sins Allah forgives whenever you can’t forget.

The ocean is deep like my secrets

Endless like my sins

The waves crash like the regrets that I buried

And the tides pull me back to what I tried to forget

As I’m drowning, I raise my hands high.

His mercy is wider than my shame, and every wave returns me to His name.

We always hear that the Quran is a book of guidance, but how often do we reflect on how the Quran is a book of beauty?

One of Allah's 99 names is Al Jameel الجميل the most beautiful

The Arabic root of this word shows meanings of beauty, goodness and perfection.

Allahs beautiful, so His creation is beautiful.

The beauty of the stars

"And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers."

(15:16)

"And We have certainly beautified (Zayyanna) the nearest heaven with lamps (stars), and We have made them missiles for the devils..."

(67:5)

The beauty of the afterlife

"So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and grant them radiance (نضرة, nadrah) and joy."

(76:11)

"Some faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord."

(75:22)

"They will be reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets."

(76:13)

In Paradise, there is a market to which they will come every Friday. The north wind will blow and scatter fragrance on their faces and on their clothes and add to their beauty and loveliness."

- Sahih Muslim 2833

The beauty of a believer

"So [Yusuf] said, 'Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is beautiful (sabrun jamil)

(12:18)

"O children of Adam! Take your adornment (zeenatakum) at every masjid, and drink, but do not be excessive. Indeed, He does not love those who commit excess."

(7:31)

The Day you will see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right."

(57:13)

The beauty of this Dunya

"Or Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, whereby We cause to grow gardens of splendid beauty (بهجَة, bahjah) ?"

(27:60)

Oh Allah, ya Jamil beautify us inside and out. May you be pleased with our character. This reminds me about how Muslim women conceal their beauty.

You may hate this life

But if Allah took away your life, would you be able to face Him?

Would you be able to go to Jannah?

Allah never told you to love this dunya, He told you to love Him.

“The world is a prison for the believers and a paradise for the disbelievers.”

- Sahih Muslim 2956

Does anyone else feel like it’s easier to get into Jannah than it is to be entered into the Hellfire?

"People whose hearts are like the hearts of birds will enter Paradise."

- Sahih Muslim 2840

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said “He whose last words are: 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no true god except Allah) will enter Jannah."

- Riyad as Salihin 917

"Protect yourself from the Hellfire, even with half of a date [in charity]."

- Sahih Al Bukhari 1417

"Whoever says, 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,' one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea."

- Sahih al Bukhari 6405

Simply doing wudu wipes away your sins

- Musnad Ahmad 22267

"Whoever avoids the major sins will enter Paradise."

- al-Mu'jam al-Kabir lil- Tabarani 13/8

"No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."

- Sahih al-Bukhari 5641, 5642

You can enter through a gate of Jannah simply from being of those who prayed, fasted, did dhikr, and prayed.

Oh, traveler of this dunya. are you preparing for your meeting with your Lord? Will you be embarassed with yourself when you see how easy He made it for you out of His mercy, but you disobeyed?

Do you know what ihsan is?

This is the most praiseworthy state to Allah, a quality our Prophet ﷺ had.

Ihsan is the quality of excellence. It is honoring the sight of Allah upon you in a way that would encourage us to earn extra love from Allah

"Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see him, and if you cannot see Him, then know that He sees you."

- Sahih Al Bukhari 4777

This goes hand in hand with Taqwa, the fear of Allah. You're aware that Allah is always watching, so you fear to sin and lose His love, or His blessings.

It beautifies our obligatory deeds and then it leads us to do deeds that aren't expected of us, to hold ourselves to higher standards because we don't want to be just another average person. We don't want to just love Allah: we want to be "in love" with Allah.

Allah talks about insan in a variety of situations that we actually find. “Those who spend both in times of ease and in times of hardship.”

When a person is at ease, they give more than the required amount of zakat, beyond that which is obligatory.

They open their hands and hearts and keep on giving charity. And when they are in hardship-just like they wouldn't want Allah to stop providing for them, even if they were distant or even if they were doing things that should disqualify them from sustenance-they too continue to give even when no one expects it.

They forgive, they pardon, and they stay silent even when they're wrong for the sake of Allah. They'll give up an argument. You hold yourself to a higher standard, whether it's in your worship, your relationships, your work ethics and you are doing this because the degree of Allah's love that you seek is that much higher.

Allah describes three types of selves in the Qur'an

The soul that commands itself with evil, that indulges in evil. The second is the soul that holds themselves accountable and not doing anything that disqualifies you from His love, and the third is the soul that's at peace with Allah.

Allah describes them as the muhsinin, those who love to do good, or the excellers of good/good deeds. May Allah make us amongst them.

I recently found out that when certain souls pass away, the earth will cry for them.

“And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.”

(44:29)

Imagine it is your Janazah, and it starts raining although it wasn’t supposed to.

The sea dries up, as it weeps for you. The stream of rivers are now paused.

The stars fall out of the sky, because the brightest star has now left them.

The mountains which stood firm and tall despite the blows of the wind, now trembling because your absence is too much to bear.

The sun starts dimming because it’s too hesitant to shine in a world that no longer holds you.

The rain kisses the earth, each drop a quiet farewell for you.

The birds confused where to go, because your voice used to be their sky.

For some, the heavens and the earth may not weep. But for you, the whole universe aches.

She’s a Muslimah

Her beauty lies underneath her veil, she’s a treasure hidden from worldly eyes. 

Her beauty is a gift meant to be kept, not shown to the ones who haven’t wept for Allah to let them be close to her, and get a glimpse of her soul and reserve a place in her sweet heart.

She’s concealed, which leads her value to be sealed. Her beauty grows everyday as she is protected and cherished just how you water flowers everyday.

Like petals touched by morning dew, her charms simple; pure and true.

Her beauty is not only in her face, but in her heart which is a sacred place. Her beauty is deeper, hidden tight. Her beauty is drawn from inner light.

She doesn’t crave this world and its misguided, disgusting praises. Her haya wraps around her like a shield from their dirty world. 

She’s a Muslimah, the more she turns to Allah the more this world starts to dim.
