Today we took our little son to the hospital because he suffers from a chest infection that affects his breathing and causes him pain. I hope that every living conscience will help us save our young son’s life and donate any amount you can.

Unfortunately, there is no treatment in the hospital for my young son. Help us before it is too late.

‏Today's vetted fundraisers

My name is Mohammed Zaqout, a Palestinian living in the USA, and I am organizing this fundraiser to help my family in Gaza, who are facing a severe humanitarian crisis. My siblings and their young children are trapped in desperate conditions, suffering from starvation, lack of clean water, electricity, internet, and medical care. The whole multi-fandom phenomenon of ‘Anon’ as, like, a character is fascinating to me.

Like, we’ve created this visual shorthand of a bald guy with no face, gray or green skin, even a question mark for a face if you’re feeling salty, as a visual shorthand for ‘This is supposed to be you. This is a template for you to project yourself over.’

But we’ve used that template so much, it’s become ingrained as just… the appearance of this established multi-fandom character named Anon.

When we see Anon, we don’t think to ourselves ‘Oh, this is a template for me to insert myself into the world of my favorite fandom.’

No, we think ‘Oh, it’s that dimension-hopping bald guy who’s super horny and gets into all kinds of shenanigans. Love that guy.’

The Republican nominee is a felon and a would-be dictator who will do everything in his power to make sure he is president for life, and I’m not unconvinced he can’t, who will go on to run a campaign of hatred against anyone who dared to speak ill of him.

The Democratic nominee is an unrepentant war criminal and mass murderer. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for either of these horrible, evil men, but in the two party system, I am left with literally no other option.

No matter who wins, countless people are going to die.

Worse still is that the Republican nominee has an obsessively loyal cult who will vote for him, no matter what. So simply abstaining or voting third party, which is a wash in today’s political system, more or less ensures he wins.

I don’t know what to do. This has never happened, in the entirety of American history, where both candidates are so universally reviled and hated where either option is the worst case scenario in one area or another.

Literally, the best solution I can think of, that’s within my power at least, is praying that they both drop dead, and burn in hell for all eternity, before the election.

I have never been more ashamed to be an American.

Also, I just want to add to this, but I love how even though this is, essentially, the complete and total opposite of Venom’s usual motivation, it’s still totally recognizable as a Venom story.

Because it still has the same foundation of being rooted in obsession.

The symbiote is obsessed with Peter Parker. It wants Peter Parker. Wants it in what way? Well, that kind of depends on the continuity, but it wants him.

That’s why, after Peter rejects the symbiote, it constantly goes after hosts who are connected to Peter in some way.

Eddie Brock already hated Peter. All the symbiote had to do was warp that into Eddie obsessively hating him.

But Harry? Harry loved Peter, with all of his heart and soul. But that isn’t much different for the symbiote to warp it into an obsessive love.

It hurts about the same either way.

It is so buckwild to me what Insomniac did with Harry Osborn and Venom.

In the vast majority of Spider-Media, Venom's defining character trait is his hatred of Spider-Man, and at first, it looks like Insomniac might be going that route. They give Harry ample reason to be absolutely furious with Peter, to resent him, resent the life he gets to live, a beloved superhero with a girlfriend, healthy and strong, a genius of such caliber that even his own father seems to prefer him to Harry. His supposed "best friend" who seems to be withholding lifesaving medical treatment just because he likes how it feels on him, because it's not enough that he be better and stronger and smarter than poor, sickly, doomed Harry, no, he has to be stronger than himself, stronger than the old Spider-Man could ever hope to be. It's not enough for Peter to have his own powers, he has to have Harry's as well, and if that comes at the cost of Harry's life? Well, that's just the cost of doing business. As long as it makes him a better Spider-Man, that's all that matters, right?

It seems like they are going down the route where Harry gives into his anger and resentment, the symbiote whispering in his ear and exacerbating his worst aspects until there is nothing left of the sweet boy that Emily Osborn raised to be so deeply good, only a supervillain hellbent on revenge and world domination.

But that's not what happens.

Instead, almost everything Harry does after the Venom symbiote takes over is framed as helping. As a genuine, if twisted belief that the world he is making is a better world. Instead of seeking revenge against Peter, Harry/Venom wants to convert him. Wants him to stand beside him as they "heal the world" together. And the odd thing is, this only becomes more true with time. At first, Harry/Venom seems almost indifferent to Peter, and angers quickly when Peter calls them a "thing." But we see that the idea of Peter doing this with him, the need for his best friend to be beside him at the end of all things, eventually becomes so important to him that it is ultimately a weakness the heroes exploit.

Think about that; Harry Osborn's love for Peter Parker is so powerful that it almost seems to be corrupting the Venom symbiote, infecting it and twisting its mind as surely as it twisted Peter's, but in the opposite direction. It's so wild to watch the scenes at the end of the game and hear Tony Todd, in his deep-ass Venom voice, read lines like "Thanks for coming, Pete 😊" with the same casual inflection and tone as Harry would. Saying "This is where we became best friends. Now it's where we become brothers!" and sounding so pleased and excited that you'd think he was talking about Pete's mom marrying his dad and not infecting him with alien mind goop.

It's so incredible to me that the defining trait of Insomniac's Venom isn't hate; it's love. A twisted, warped love that doesn't fully understand itself, but a sincere and true love nonetheless, one that holds to the very end.

I want Rank Choice voting.

I want third party Presidents.

I want the abolishment of party politics.

I want politicians to be voted on individual merit.

I want strict term limits for our politicians.

I want to overturn Citizens United V. FEC.

I want to live in a country that I don’t have to be so completely disappointed in.

These are all good things to want… but what you all need to understand is that these are all very, very long term goals.

And the 2024 elections are not going to wait that long.

We need short term solutions as well as long term solutions so that the short term solutions will keep us afloat long enough to reach those long term goals.

And I hate to say it. I mean I really, really, really, really hate to say it.

But Biden is our best short term solution right now.

I know, believe me, I know. The man is a war criminal and a coward and a fucking murderer. The very fact that I am in any way advocating for him makes me sick to my fucking stomach. I hate Biden and I hate the fact that this is how far our country has fucking fallen.

But it really is either him or Trump.

We can vote for a third party candidate all we want, but even if they win by thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of votes in the popular vote…

That all adds up to maybe a handful of electoral votes as far as the Electoral College is concerned. And as far as the president is concerned, those are the only votes that matter.

It really is either Biden or Trump.

And as terrible, godawful, outright evil as Biden is… we can survive him. We cannot survive another four years of Trump.

He will do everything in his power to turn the U.S. into an outright dictatorship, and if he succeeds, we can kiss any short term or long term goals goodbye. The only goal left will be surviving. That’s it.

And I know this means the genocide in Palestine will continue, but let’s just be honest with ourselves, it’ll continue under Trump too, if not be outright worse.

Trump idolizes tyrants and dictators. You really think he won’t bend over backwards for Israel and give them everything they need to turn Gaza into a glass floor?

I know people are sick to death of hearing things like ‘damage control’, but as far as the presidential election is concerned, damage control is literally all we have left.

However, that’s just the presidential election. We have other options. We can still vote on the state level, we can still protest, we can still advocate, we can still fight.

We can do everything in our power to put more good people in the system, besides the President, who will bring Biden to heel, call him out, drag him through the mud if need be, but that will be a lot easier to do with Biden than with Trump.

Don’t let anyone tell you it’s too little or not enough. They just don’t want you to exercise the power you have because it is a threat to them.

At least, at the very fucking least, if I keep voting Democrat, that allows for a bigger Democratic base to build up for the next election and the next election, which would in turn give the people who actually want to abolish the Electoral College a larger platform.

Democrats may not be for abolishing the Electoral College, but they at least don’t try to suppress voter advocacy for abolishment. Unlike Republicans who will do everything in their power to keep the Electoral College around for as long as possible.

I’m not happy about it. Matter of fact, I’m pretty damned pissed about it, and you can be damned sure that I am going to do everything in my power to make sure Congress knows how pissed I am. This ‘lesser of two evils’ bullshit will never go away unless we get the fuck rid of the Electoral College.

But, as of right now, that is a fight for another day.

Can anyone help me find this Christmas decoration?

So, for context, we just had a bit of a Christmas tragedy at our house. Somehow, a bunch of mice managed to dig their way into our Christmas decorations and have urinated and defecated over everything. Luckily, what we haven’t been able to clean, we’ve been able to replace easily enough, but there’s one decoration that’s been giving us some trouble.

We had to toss this snowman lantern because the pee smell soaked into the candle wax, and we can’t, for the life of us, find this same lantern anywhere. If anyone has any idea where we can find another lantern like this, that would be very appreciated.

And I don’t usually ask for reblogs, but that would also be super helpful in getting more eyes on this lantern.

I find it really interesting that most politicians go-to argument against all the outcries and pleas against Israel to stop their blatant Genocide is that it’s ‘antisemitic’.

Because, A) Like you ever gave a shit about defending Jews against antisemitism before.

And B) The only Jewish people that we are pissed off at right now are the Zionists. And the idea that the statement ‘I hate Zionists’ is somehow an antisemitic statement is akin to saying that the statement ‘I hate neo-nazis’ or ‘I hate the KKK’ is somehow an anti-Christian statement.

Buddy, as someone who was homophobic when I was 12 and is a flaming queer now, I promise you the only reason why you ‘feel gross’ whenever you see the El Gibbities doing their thing is because you were told to feel gross about it.
