So every once in a while it comes up and I stop and think about the fact that Remus Lupin lived with Sirius Black in the latter’s childhood home for at least a year, that they gave Harry a joint Christmas present, and that Remus was clearly working from home in the kitchen and went to fetch Sirius from wherever he was so Harry could talk to him, and moreover, that all of that is straight up canon, and I have to slow down and contemplate existence for a while. Sometimes it just stops me in my tracks.

«Dear Your Holiness» Remus will probably always be my favorite Remus.

Drawing him with darker skin was challenging but I wanted to paint him how he is described in the fic. I don't know if I managed but well I tried.

I understand people come from lots of different POVs on this topic, and some don’t know fandom etiquette, so without posting any particular asks, let me just say…

This blog does not share copies of deleted fics.

And if you do have a copy of a fic that is deleted, please please please please respect the author’s wishes and don’t share the fic. Anywhere. Ever.

Some authors take down their fics because they want to publish them with different names, and if a publisher checks for previous publication of their work and it comes up with a match…they’ve just lost a book deal.

Some authors take down their fics because they no longer agree with the ideologies in their old fics.

Some authors take down their fics because because they no longer want their works in a fandom of an author they’ve grown to hate.

Some authors take down their fics so AI can’t scrub them.

Some authors take down their fics because they’re embarrassed by them now, because the AO3 notifications remind them of a different time in their lives they want to forget, or just because they want to.

An author sharing a fic is a gift. They are not content creators or even artists that can gain commission off their fics. Their only compensation is respect (comments, not reposting fics, etc).

Please don’t share deleted fics.

I really don't understand how "without getting kudos or comments a fanfiction author is going to assume that people who clicked their fic didn't like it" became a controversial take.

I don't know why some people think an author should imagine, or guess that people who click their fic enjoyed it it when nobody is telling them that.

If you're re-reading a fic constantly, or leaving it up in your tab so that it re-loads every day for a hundred days the author is not going to know that unless you tell them. They'd love to hear it. It would make their day.

And if you don't tell them you liked their fic, there's no reason for them to assume you did.
