I’ve found a new anime I like and I think I am developing a hyper fixation. I don’t know how it explain besides that I drew this:

Heres my most recent artwork for school. Don’t mind the smudge on the bottom, I had to photoshop my real name off the page. All in all the piece took almost a full month to complete. Throughout the process my teacher kept personally checking in with me too. They kept going on about how today no one does pointillism anymore, or not to the degree and level of detail I did. I mean we only have 4 assignments in art this semester and the past two I did were both paint, I chose Pointillism intentionally because I wanted to do something different.

So I thought of this new Rottmnt AU that I have decided to call:

Mutant Mediums

After the fight with the Shredder with the spiritual, ghost, and possession stuff, the Turtles and April develop a sensitivity to spiritual and psychic energy.

Like their Ninpo abilities this new spiritual sense can be trained and strengthened. But none of the characters effected know they have this new sense and therefore won’t be able to capitalize on it (yet). The exception and main characters of this AU are Mikey and Leo because they go ghost hunting regularly in this universe.

Why not just have the whole Ghost Hunting trio? Well the bulk of the AU is after the Shredder and in the 2 year time skip and as seen in the movie April is in college so I imagine she is busy with trying to get into college and survive the rest of high school during the timeframe of the AU.

I also imagine that during this window Donnie is going to be busy with his Ninpo. The whole series he is very against mystic and magical stuff and at the end he gets magic powers forced upon him. coming to terms with that and trying to mix magic and science would probably be his priority. Along with this I see Raph being busy with his recent internal struggles coupled with the fact that Leo is supposed to be the leader now he is under a lot of stress. Based upon how Red and Blue interacted in the beginning of the movie Raph seemingly just expected Leo to know how to be leader and didn’t try and help Leo adjust to his new role. So when Leo did the obvious thing and made a lot of mistakes and kept being immature Raph got angry. So sadly throughout this AU we get no character development for Raph.

Anyway after the episode “The Gumbus” Leo and Mikey go out to ghost hunt regularly. They go all around the world using Leos portals (Which is how Leo trained his power and got so good before the finale). Bit after the whole Shedder thing when the two go ghost hunting they are unknowingly strengthening their new sense. Over time just through exposure therapy they start seeing and hearing ghosts at these locations. Since everyone else is busy with stuff and Leo doesn’t want to talk to Raph, the two turn to Draxum and Big Mama (2 yokai) for answers. And they just spill all the beans on the boys and become the main enablers for their ghost excursions. Mikey and Leo with Draxum and Big Mama’s help train in psychic and spiritual arts and eventually just becoming full on mediums. Which is why the AU is called Mutant Mediums. This ability also helps them easily reach out to the Hamato Ancestors for assistance, advice, guidance, or training in the martial or Ninpo arts.

Donnie will eventually get involved because of that last part. And Raph will back off Leo a little because of it as well. But neither of the two know or understand how their younger brothers are getting so good at fighting or how they’re training their Ninpo. Because of the issues between them Leo doesn’t want to tell Raph about the ghost stuff. Mikey joins and convinces Leo to not tell Donnie either because it’s funny watching their big brother’s be in a state of confusion.

Why am I saying this? Because that is how I made the piece at the top! I haven’t drawn in a while and while I had ideas none of them hit my creativity threshold that’d compel me to draw any of them. So I hoped on to the generator and looked through my camera role of all the quotes I have saved and found this:

Some kid in my Japanese class: “Hey <Gabi> why do you only draw the Rise turtles, its the worst version. I mean like why is Raph the leader and soft blah blah-“

Me: “Ok listen here how about you actually watch more than 3 episodes of Rise before you start making those statements. Rise Raph was actually a pretty good leader, sure he often times doesn’t seem to be and doesn’t make any actual plans. he takes responsibility for almost everything, even things that weren’t his fault. It’s because he is the oldest in this universe that he is like this he had to step in while the turtles were growing when Splinter wasn’t there. Raph still gets angry but he had to learn to control himself because he is an alligator snapping turtle aka one of the biggest land turtles species and he could easily crush his brothers. Again if you’re mad that he is the leader then analyze the scenes and you’ll see that Leo is still the one who makes the plans and he can do it very quickly. At the base the turtles are still in line with their roles. Rise’s whole thing is that focuses on presenting the turtles as teenagers. Teens get into weird situations, they make weird decisions, and sure its a bit more cartoony. But they are the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” every word in the title is key and each show, movie, comic, etc focuses on some words more than others. Rise has a lot of new and different thing in it and that is okay. They all have flaws and Rise just may not be your cup of tea but expose yourself to the content before you start making claims and gripes with it. But for god sakes watch the movie on Netflix! I like Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a lot of reasons.”

Kid in Japanese: “Oh kay… uhm. But still why do you only draw the Rise turtles? We went to elementary school together and you were drawing the 2012 turtles a whole lot then what happened.”

Me: “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..” Me: [Hasn’t fully watched 2012 and completely forgot about the turtles in middle school and so muscle memory doesn’t exist also my art style has changed a lot since then. But I also don’t want to admit that I really like the Rise turtles for their designs and mostly because of how thin they are and how glorious their thighs are. Also I still can’t really draw muscles and thicc limbs and all the other versions are bulky and muscular.] Me: “I just like the art style…” (its not completely untrue but ohmagah-)

It has been about a month since I last posted. For those few who actually care about me on this app I apologize. But I’m also telling you in advance that this might happen a lot and the break may be even longer. Due to several factors that are out of my control that inhibit me to be able to just sit down and draw. There is a process and a mood that must be present and sometimes I must be in a specific place and/or a specific background noise is needed. And no one respects or understands this process. But everyone agrees with me that it is stupid.

But I digress because inspiration has struck and struck hard enough that to reach the threshold. So now I present to you Rise!Donatello, smoking:
