“History repeats itself”
We’ve all heard this phrase countless times, to refer to the ways humanity does not learn from the mistakes, crimes and tragedies of the past.
Now, seeing a genocide unfold in Palestine, another in Congo and in Sudan, while the whole world is watching, unable or unwilling to bring change, I can’t shake the feeling that this phrase is flawed.
History does not repeat itself. We repeat history. The passive language of history repeating itself, makes it seem as if we have no control over what happens, and thus no responsibility. That is simply not true. We have the responsibility, all of us as individuals, and most importantly as communities, to NOT REPEAT HISTORY. To learn from it. To grow from it.
Don’t let yourself be convinced that you have no control and so shouldn’t bother. Please bother. As much as you can.

In retrospect, what the fuck was Verity
So i’m currently reading Verity by Colleen Hoover (just started, about 20 pages in)
I’ve heard mixed opinions but the story seemed interesting, so i really wanted to like this book…
BUT THE WRITING STYLE is making me want to stop reading and leave the country.
like
it’s somehow so icky???? Is it just me? The unreasonably detailed descriptions of the most predictable and mundane things, the repetitiveness, the way it fails to convey the feelings it was supposed to…
Like yes okay your life is shit, his life is shit, but he’s hot, but oh no you’re lonely and hate everyone WE GET IT. MOVE THE FUCK ON.
I know i’m supposed to empathize with the main character but just can’t for the life of me.
If anyone has read it, please share your opinion and wether or not the story picks the pace up at some point.
Anyway thank you for listening to me rant, I will now water my plants.

I saw that you love the seven Husbands of Evelyn hugo and I've just gotta ask: have you heard of Burn the House Down by Kenna Jenkins? It's a fictional memoir abt the 1st woman president and her secret sapphic relationship/bearded marriage with her mlm best friend ala shoeh. It also ft. a subplot abt arson at the White House and an entirely queer main cast, really fleshed out characters, and a really satisfying ending!
Somehow i have never heard about this book, but it sounds absolutely amazing, thank you so much for the recommendation

!!!!!!THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!!
The massive oil extraction project named “Willow” in Alaska has to be stopped. If they go through with the plans, it will cause irreversibke damage to our planet. It will cause death of ecosystems, an even more rapid pace of climate change/global warming, and massive amounts of pollution.
Please sign the petition linked, and don’t forget to confirm your signature.
Update: willow project had already been approved, as a commenter kindly brought it to my atention

A conversation we had the other day with @threecalicos (you know it’s about to get cursed)
@threecalicos : Do you think Cardan wags his tail like a dog when he sees Jude?
Me, after agreeing that yes in fact he definitely, without a doubt does: does he puff up the hair on his tail like a cat when he sees someone he doesn’t like?
In conclusion: Cardan Greenbriar is a furry.

100% accurate
Reading The Song of Achilles is like watching a tragedy play out and you want so hard to stop it but there's nothing you can do so you cry as you press your foot on nonfunctional brakes.
Reading Circe has been like sipping the finest of Tea™ and going "bitch! No you didn't!" in various tones at the shit she's been involved in.

Enjoy some of my shitty annotations of Agatha Christie’s A Murder Is Announced (and please excuse the messy handwriting, a lot of these were written on the bus/ in the car etc)

Hey, anyone reading Agatha Christie here? Great, there’s quite a few of us. Anyone who has read A Murder Is Announced? Hi, three people in the back. This one is for you.
⚠️ If you haven’t yet read it, spoilers are ahead, proceed at your own risk. ⚠️
You cannot tell me that Ms. Hinchcliffe and Ms. Murgatroyd were not cottagecore lesbians. They literally owned a cottage together. Like??? I want that life. Also they were completely and very much gay coded.
Also I will forever be mad at Agatha for killing Amy. I know it made sense with the plot, but still. Why her??? Kill Colonel Easterbrook instead, he was a pain in the ass anyway.
The book was great as usual, I’m just mad that she hurt my favourite couple
