Trying something different. Abstract still life! I like it but I think I prefer more realistic artwork to paint. Can’t help myself hahaha. It is lovely to experiment though and find out definitely what you love best to paint. I’ve been working on abstract characters for literally months. I say hours and hours@but those hours are stretched over a few months. Finally had an epiphany last night and knew what inward going to paint complete with how I would paint the eye, nose, lips. I picked out themes and names to@go with the characters no th is is the first one. Meet “Shirl withPearls”. She loves pearls, tea and red wine. She is an old fashioned kind of girl. This reminded me so much of Robert Mitchum in the film noir he was so good at, especially though, "The Big Steal." Am I showing my age? I love those old movies! Decided to try my hand at some little works aimed at children. I see things to definitely fix up here but I’m not used to painting on these canvas sheets. So weird. This child so reminded my of my little granddaughter. I actually painted this in 2016, but have now just completely re-painted it and added the fairy wings. My granddaughter loved fairy wings, and if they were not on properly she would sulk and sook. This brings that memory back to vividly. At 9 y.o. she has announced she is far too old for such things!
