It's been that way for as long as I can remember, honestly. I blame Supernatural for really exacerbating the problem, though.

I didn't go to AX this year, but that^ probably would've been me. Or at least, that would've been me if I went to The JoJo World store that opened up in Japan. (To this day, I'm still baffled at why so little JoJo merch makes its way to the States)
I actually haven't been to AX since I was 16. If you did go, how was it?

"You like bad boys don't you, Kaylin?"
Me- "I think that's a gross oversimplification."
I drew this months ago and only got around to coloring it yesterday. I'm trying to do more with color and lighting these days. I took reference from a few "romantic lighting" images I found.
I'm sure you could probably guess what character(s) inspired me to draw this. What would you call the phenomenon? "Evil panic"? "Villain panic"??

My comic, "BJs," was removed (twice!) from Webtoon. I've shared this before, but here's the comic:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS comic is considered a "graphic depiction" of sexual acts???
And sure, I understand that it is technically featuring partial nudity, but when I was setting up my series on Webtoon, they asked you a list of questions to determine what age rating your comic will receive.
So, when they asked if my comic had depictions of partial nudity (for comedic effect!) I assumed that meant it was allowed; I would just have to accept that doing so would cause my comic to be granted a "Young Adult" rating.
To reiterate: YOUNG ADULT. I can understand why full-on porn would not be allowed, but CENSORED cartoon nudity? Come on.
Also- Webtoon had no issue with any of my comics where I wrote about my experiences about SA and abuse. I would assume THAT is more triggering to most people than seeing cartoon nudity. But why I am not surprised...
I'm not going to be too salty about it because I'm able to post my more NSFW/18+ themed comics on every other platform I'm on without issue.

I don't believe I spoke about this on my blog, but I've decided to remove the monthly QNA sessions from my Patreon for the foreseeable future. This month (July) will be the last time I host patrons-only QNAs due to sparse interaction.
Most months, I actually received zero replies for those posts. I was inexperienced and very clueless as to what a potential customer/fan base would want from my content. When I first started my Patreon, I was very green. I created perks that I assumed would be appealing to a wide audience, but I also have made several changes and additions since then. So, I'm still learning even to this day.
I think that public QNAs are a lot more appealing, and the amount of interaction those receive shows that. I don't think I'll make monthly public QNAs, but they will be held periodically in the future. And to be honest, I think this change is good for me as well. It will help lessen the mental load I have, even by just a bit, when it comes to running the Patreon.
There is some good news: I created a new $1 perk, which is to credit/shoutout usernames at the end of most of my comics. (Exceptions for the venting/mental health ones, as I feel like it'd be a bit tone deaf) And because it's a $1 perk, every tier above will also be shouted out in the credits.
I just finished the accompanying illustrations (see above) for those shoutouts, and I hope you enjoy them! The "taller" version is for when I post my vertically-oriented comics. (Keeps everything more cohesive)
Catch these in a future comic! I also hope this change will help you feel more appreciated as patrons!
$10 patrons still get their special monthly (illustrated) shoutout, so that's not going anywhere.
If you have any additional ideas for perks (For $1 patrons or otherwise) of your own, please let me know in the replies or DMs. Thank you, guys!
Illustration is heavily inspired by the sunset from PMD Explorers of T/D/S

"The Ego and the Idiots" + Promo Art!
Tumblr media
Check out the comic's page on LINE and give it a follow!
God, this illustration took me forever to finish, mainly because I just HAD to go for an unconventional, yet aesthetically pleasing, color scheme. (And those who know me, know that I SUCK at color theory)
Anyways, this isn't a new series. I know that I started a series last year called, "Life in Rethell" (now branded "Life in Retail") but that kind of fell off. I just started getting inspired to make a bunch of other comics that really didn't have anything to do with each other; they were just based on sudden strikes of inspiration or memories. I had a lot more fun drawing them, too.
I didn't plan on ever grouping those miscellaneous comics together under one name, but I thought I should, just to make things more organized. Problem was; I didn't know what title name to use. "The Ego and the Idiots" was actually a planned title for another series. That one was going to be about exploring, essentially, "what the hell was wrong with me."
I don't know if that comic idea will come to light. I just have so many other things I'd rather work on at the moment. That's why I don't mind calling my collection of random comics "The Ego and the Idiots."
It has a nice ring to it, and I think it's hilarious. I don't know if you interpreted it the same way, but I like that the title implies that I can be egotistical or an idiot, depending on the story being shared. Or, maybe, you took it to mean that while I am calling other people "idiots," I'm not beneath roasting myself, referring to myself as "the ego."
To clarify: I am not starting a brand new series. I've just given a title name to all of the random/disconnected comics I've made so far. I'm not sure if LINE has a parameter in place to prevent "spam" posting, so I will be periodically adding all of my older comics to that page.
I'm still going to be uploading my comics to Reddit and all of my other socials. Lately, I've been trying to expand my art's and comics' reach, so I felt like I should take advantage of my LINE account more.
And I do want to get back to actually finishing the "Life in Retail" comics. I think this long detour was good for me, though, as I've learned so much more about drawing/making comics since the first "Life in Retail" episode.
TY for all the support thus far!

It's a no from me: Blacklist Crew Studio
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi guys- not the usual kind of post I put out. I just felt like this was important to share to help prevent other artists from wasting their time.
I'm not entitled to a gig, and they have the right to not want to hire me. That's not what this is about. I just found it incredibly unprofessional (and very telling) that this person/people fell off the face of the map as soon as I asked about payment and compensation. I expected some basic professional courtesy at least, like a "thank you for your interest, but..." type of message.
You know an indie studio/company is bad when they don't even want to answer questions about that.
I did try to be patient at first. I even waited a few days for a response because life happens and people get busy sometimes. But it's clear, at this point, that I was straight up ghosted.
If you’re ever contacted by them, I would suggest turning the other way. Of course, I don't truly know what they're like as employers, but this was a terrible first impression. My gut was telling me that if I did somehow end up doing work for them, some other bs was going to befall my way.

All my homies hate Juan. (Well, they would if I had any)
It's a bit late, but I realized that today marks the anniversary(?) of when I published my "farewell letter" 5 years ago. It's not something that I've talked about, especially not in recent years. And for good reason; this was a very dark time in my life.
Still, I wanted to put this out there to show that it can get better. I'm not living it up right now and living a super fantastic life, but I've reached a point where I am so much better at handling my symptoms of depression. I've also grown so much as a person over these past 5 years.
Healing is not something that takes place quickly. It can take years. My healing was also anything but linear. But the important thing is to keep going. To keep trying. Even if you have a bad day, the important thing is that you lived to see another day. And one day, you'll reach a point where you can look back on your past hardships and realize that you've grown so much stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

I was thinking about hoodies the other day and the whole concept of "stealing" your partner's (usually boyfriend's) hoodie. To be honest, in the 10 relationships that I've had, I only ever "stole" a boyfriend's hoodie once. Literally only one time.
I think it was mostly due to the fact that my exes rarely got cold and, therefore, rarely wore warm clothing. Come to think of it, I don't remember if any of them even owned a hoodie. (I suppose that explains why so many of my exes were cold-blooded badum tsss)
Anyway, the one time I did ask a boyfriend to borrow their hoodie...this happened. And he decided the best time to tell me that, actually, it was his sister's EX BOYFRIEND'S hoodie, was AFTER I put the damn thing on. I really hope it was washed by the time it was handed to me. (PS- No it did not have the super awesome design that the comic portrays. If it did I probably wouldn't have cared. If I recall, it was the California flag or something)
I get that it might not be a big deal, and I'm not saying it is one. I just thought it was a really weird gesture. Your girlfriend asks you for one of your clothes, so you give her...your sister's ex's hoodie.
And as the comic suggested, I was left with questions:
Why did his sister give him her ex's hoodie? (Did he ask for it himself?)
Why did he accept and keep it?
Why did he think it was a good idea to give it to me?
I'm probably overthinking the whole thing, but I have a younger brother, and I would never think to gift him a hoodie that belonged to my ex. I would also never accept a hoodie from him that used to belong to his ex girlfriend. (Okay, maybe unless it was Dio-themed. I have issues.)
I get that not everyone has their relationships end in trainwrecks, like a certain somebody, so I'm not saying it's weird or wrong to keep things that belonged to your ex. I just don't know why you'd want to gift that thing to your siblings or current partner.

Taylor Swift is...problematic to say the least, but I do enjoy her music. (I just don't ever spend money on merch or albums lol) One of my favorite TS songs is, "Fortnight." It just fills me with all the feels. Although, my favorite is definitely "willow." As I've gotten older, I grew fonder of the more mellow TS songs.

I made this comic last year for my 2 year anniversary with my partner. It was shortly after I had essentially binge watched at least 15 documentary episodes of cold cases in the US. (And right after a person was declared missing, then found dead at a hiking trail literally a mile away from where I live. Really scary.) I think about true crime scenarios a lot; it's definitely made me a tad paranoid.
Sometimes my partner just lets me yap at length about all sorts of inane subjects, true crime included, and doesn't know what to say at the end. That was also the inspiration for this comic.

My Comic Panels Out of Context:

Gee, I’ve sure made quite a lot of comics this year!
I noticed that quite a lot of panels seemed like they don’t make a lick of sense outside of their original comics. (And others are just mortifying LOL)
