Raven snorts. “You should have dated her when you had the chance.”
Kieran finally looks up. “If you ever suggest that again, I’ll see you assigned to inventorying spider eggs in the lower vaults.”

Editing is a constant struggle of deleting bits that no longer work or that you don’t need. And adding in new scenes/ expanding scenes. Just so you can go back and edit them again. It’s a never ending cycle that you eventually have to make yourself stop or the book will never actually get finished.

Changed the cover and blurb for my book. Thoughts?
"In a world where love is a dangerous game, I never thought I'd find myself making a deal with a Seelie. But if it means breaking free from my father's chains, there's no oath I wouldn’t bind myself to for you." In a world where the Seelie and Unseelie are not quite enemies, Princess Lysandra's daring act to free a captured prince sends ripples through the Courts. Tristan, the Crown Prince of the Summer Court, is bound to honor the oath he swore to her, but as danger looms from her father, their fragile alliance blossoms into something deeper. Together, they must uncover the truth behind the Court politics and fight for a love that could change everything.

Thinking about changing the cover and blurb for A Seelie Prince's Oath. I love how the characters look like I picture them in my head, but I'm not sure the cover really works.
Thoughts about my new blurb? Like it? Hate it?

Edited 15k of A Night Court's Destiny today. And now I want to do anything else but edit more. lol 14 chapters left to edit, and then another re-read or three to make sure I didn't cut anything actually important. And then it can be published. If of course, I don't keep adding things in as I take things out.

Being a writer is great. You get all these ideas when you are away from your computer and can't do anything with them. And then you get home and your brain goes "Nope! Haha! I don't want to write that anymore."

Are you really a writer if you don't torture your characters a little bit? Embrace the chaos.

Bored at work and suddenly you get an amazing idea for a story! You can see most of the plot, the characters and the main problems. And then you start to wonder...
Did I read this somewhere? Is this already a book? A fanfic? A movie plot?
And then you have to go search it up on Google, inputting all the different things you remember to see if it's really your idea or if your brain is just doing a replay of forgotten things to keep you from falling asleep.

You know you have made it as a writer when people start writing fanfics about your characters. And then you must decide to read or not, in case said fanfics spark an idea for a new story.
For me, I think I will just not-so-quietly squee that it exists and not actually read it. Because there are too many sue-happy people in the world. But just know that every time you write, you have just made an author's day somewhere.

You always hear that you shouldn't start sentences with "and" or "but" because it's not good grammar. I say I'll stop doing it when I'm dead.

About Me
Middle aged author who loves the worlds of the Fae.
I write fantasy romance that takes place in the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. My current series is Star Crossed Fae. All the books stand alone and can be read in any order. Each one deals with a different Court and different characters.
Book 1: A Seelie Prince's Oath Seelie Crown Prince of the Summer Court and Unseelie Dark Court Princess.
Book 2: A Night Court's Destiny due out this summer, 2025. Unseelie Prince of the Shadow Court and Unseelie Princess of the Night Court, but all Courts will appear in this one.
I post snippets from my books, rambles about writing, and general author chaos. Feel free to send me asks or tag me in writing prompts.

Editing A Night Court's Destiny which could take a while as it's 81 thousand words. A Seelie Prince's Oath was only 39 thousand words. But yay I finished writing it!
And so of course my brain goes, Let's write the next one! 🤦‍♀️
On the other hand, I now have character names for book 3. lol Lorien and Elara. Lorien I'm excited about because he has wings. Blue, green and gold, monarch butterfly pattern. Everything will take place in the Spring Court, so his wing color is unusual for them since Spring is usually pastels. But book 3 will have a Cinderella twist, and I thought instead of a glass slipper, why not? Lorien is Cinderella and is very good at glamour charms.

"What if I write it and no one reads it?"
Then you have written a book for yourself. Good job!

When your story starts to get chaotic, remember this very important mantra:
This is my circus, these are my monkeys.

I wrote this for me, because it wouldn't get out of my head. I'm sharing it with you because it's fun and I want to fangirl about it with someone who's read it.
This shouldn't be that difficult to understand. Every book will appeal to different people. But if you never write the book and share it, you will never get to look back on it and say "I wrote that."
Every book is a learning process. With each one you write, you get better. Even if the only person who reads it is you, you did that. Be proud of yourself. Not everyone makes it even that far.

"My jewel," the Queen continues, her voice turning playful to mask the catch in her throat. "We may need to add more luggage if you shine any brighter."
"I promise not to outshine the sun," she declares, violet eyes sparkling with both mischief and determination. "But what if I am the brightest in the room?" Her tone is playful, yet she knows the weight of what lies ahead—the chance to see beyond her sheltered world, to choose love as her parents did, without politics as the guiding force.
Excerpt from A Night Court's Destiny, book 2 of Star Crossed Fae. Due out this summer.
