that’s great that you’ve learned the concept of the particles :) im very proud of you!

now, i recommend maybe watching some 영국남자 on youtube to read the subtitles or listen to them speak as there are more complex sentences. also, reading articles could help you find sentences and break them down. though, some particles like 을/를 are dropped often, so you might not find them all in one sentence or where one *should* be. its similar to how we get lazy in english and drop things like punctuation and apostrophes :)

Life just sort of took priority for a while. Unfortunately, my health took a pretty severe turn for the worse and I had to focus on my recovery the last 10 months or so. But I’m much better now, still on the mend but keeping busy. I’m actually super happy to be delving into Korean again; it’s been too long! ^^

Time for more grammar! In the past I covered -게 되다, which one can use to show that someone or something ended up doing something, or ended up in a certain state. This time, we’ll take a look at -게 하다, which is used when someone or something makes someone or something do something or take on a certain state. Let’s check out some examples and see how it works.

Why did I make a Studyblr?

I’ve been a consistent straight A student for as long as I can remember. Last semester, I lost my place in the Dean’s Honor Roll (in my college, it’s a list of students who are performing in their acads excellently) and that broke me. I’m currently in the healing process. And I want to channel all the pain, disappointments, anger – basically, every negative thing I’ve felt and gone through into something productive and worthwhile.

I want to help other students like me. I want to motivate and connect with them. 

Also, through this Studyblr, I hope to develop better study habits, learn more, and grow as a better person.

Hello everybody!

I’ve finally made a blog! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, ever since I found the langblr and studyblr communities.

The goal if this account is to keep track of my progess in language learning and college. I’ve been looking foreward to having more time to dedicate to this.

What's the difference between '반짝거리다' and '깜박거리다'? They both translate to 'twinkle' yes?

Good question!^^

You can indeed translate both of them to “twinkle” but it depends on the context of the sentence.

반짝거리다 is used with things that sparkle, i.e. a form of light reflection. Common examples are glitter, jewelry, and stars in the sky.

깜박거리다 is for things that flash on and off or open and shut repeatedly/regularly, such as Christmas lights or blinking eyes. Most traffic-related lights use 깜박거리다 (ex: the crosswalk signs or turn signals).

Stats/trends vocab

This is good vocab for the part of the topik II test in which they tell you to describe a graph/chart (usually it’s question 53 in the writing section). Vocab is written together with its corresponding antonym and the english below which will hopefully make these words less confusing.

아 그건 ㅎㅎ 오버워치 자주 했을때 한국사람을 만나고 친구가 됐지만 영어를 잘못했어요. 우리 친구들이랑 같이 얘기했을때마다 그사람은 아무것도 말하지않았어요…한 말이 없었어요…못했으니까 친구를 도와주기 위해 제가 한국어 배우고싶었어요. 그래서 공부하기 시작했는데 이제 매일 카톡하고 함께 게임해요 아직 ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

omg 소름….

edit: description for those who want it. this is a video where two women went onto a chatting app pretending to be a female middle schooler (they told people they were 15 years old in Korean age, which is 13-14 in international age). TONS of men immediately started sending them messages about making a sugar-daddy situation with them (basically, offering to pay them for sex). There was some creepy comments they highlighted, like “please be wearing your school uniform when you come to meet me” and “I know a motel that doesn’t card people.” They’d agree to it and then offer to meet the men in front of the neighborhood middle school. Many of the men run away when they discover the women are not actually a middle school aged girl, but they manage to get some of them to chat with them about why they go online to seek out children for prostitution. They offer explanations about how they have a fantasy, want to feel young again, etc. One of the men they meet is in his 50s and has a 20 year old daughter. Others are in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. The aim of the video is to highlight the child prostitution problem in Korea and how it’s too easy for men to pray on younger girls using phone apps. Really unsettling stuff.
