W+K Explains What Unites Its Powerful Nike Women Ads Running in Russia, Turkey and the Middle East
This was a push to convey a larger, global message. We interviewed women from each market to help translate the ads, and share what they meant to them.
Just in time for International Women’s Day, Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam—which created them—had the Russia, Middle East and Turkey ads subtitled in English. The agency also revealed they are indeed part of bigger campaign, with the tagline, “Believe in More.”
This generation is the least active ever, with girls even less so than boys, per a press release. These ads were made simultaneously, with one goal—to inspire women to get active, regardless of obstacles and barriers.
They also coincide with news that Nike is launching a Pro Hijab line for veiled Muslim women, released now, 2018.

FLASHBACK; season 2013 Levi’s Vintage Clothing revisits history once again, this time to the 1960s Motown era. An era associated with the likes of the Jackson 5, irresistible rhythms and fresh fashion. In place of denim, corduroy pants and fringed suede leather jackets were the showstoppers of that musical revolution.

The Most Daring Thing About Katharine Hepburn? Her Pants. A look back at her gender-bending fashion choices that set the path for one of the most unique careers in Hollywood history.
While her inexhaustible, aggressive energy defined her screen presence, her fashion, which no doubt was an expression of her androgynous sensibility, raised more than a few eyebrows. In the early 1930s, women’s fashion had not yet been liberated by the practicalities of World War II, when women en masse took positions in businesses and industries while the men were at war. Women could be, and were, arrested if they wore pants in public, detained for “masquerading as men.

THE ART OF THE T-SHIRT
Since the 19th century the T-shirt has been a staple in peoples wardrobes worldwide. Although originally used as an undergarment, in the mid 20th century, we have seen the T-shirt evolve into the world of fashion, style, music and culture.
Cultural nostalgia and irony has brought the vintage aesthetic to the forefront of mainstream street style for decades and contemporary luxury Designers have merged forward creating a shift & movement within the T-shirt realm. Designers influences; pulling influences from the music, punk and grunge era, realizing that there is definitely a grunge and haute couture connection.
Luxury Designers are using only the finest quality of threads and composition of each knit making sure to create a finer quality T-shirt that flows differently from the original starchy T-shirt that once was.
Designers reiterate, “ It’s about the luxury, exclusivity and quality of a brand. “A quality T-shirt that doesn’t shrink or fade and fits just right are paramount!”
A T-shirt is the ultimate ‘outfit maker’ with a tuck or a roll you can sport so many different unique looks that will get heads turning to see exactly where you got yours from.
By simply changing the size, you are able to drastically change your look. From the oversized Tee, for that laid back look, to a fitted look, creating a more tailored style.
Possibilities are endless as to what you are able to achieve with a distinctive quality made T-shirt.
For decades, people have always had such an undeniable nostalgia towards T-shirts.
T-shirts not only reflect our style but connotes a state of mind, how we’re feeling and what we as individuals stand for.
Throughout history, words have transformed people, societies and turning the impossible into the possible.
When simplicity is done right, it will always bring an impact.
With so many accelerated developments within societal norms, T-shirts have allowed us to forge new definitions of individuality under the pretense of rebellion.

From a breakout 'Thrasher' part to signing with Nike, how a California girl grew up to be one of the best skaters on the planet
With a shaved head and androgynous look, Baker, 25, is known in skateboarding as much for her outspokenness against the misogyny of the corporate industry – which she has called "a bunch of dudes making decisions and judgments" – as her technical finesse on a board. And both as a queer woman and a person who doesn't necessarily identify with a traditional view of femininity, she's brought a rebellious approach to a sport that has largely become accepted by the mainstream, becoming one of skateboarding's youngest outsiders. Yet with a kind manner and an infectious sense of humor, Baker's got a focus and drive that make her a beloved figure within the scene. "She's a ball of joy, so much fun to be around," says Vanessa Torres, her teammate on Meow skateboards. "Her talent is undeniable."

Boston’s Pride Parade includes 29 survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting
Draped in rainbows, 29 survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando danced among flags bearing the names of their fallen friends as their float was met with continuous applause all along the Boston Pride parade route Saturday.
The survivors’ float, adorned with 49 flags honoring those who died in last year’s attack, wasn’t the first in the annual parade, but it was quite possibly the highlight. The Orlando contingent carried the event’s 60-foot Pride flag.
“I think it’s very powerful,” said 20-year-old Andrew Navaroli after the float had passed. “I think it’s cool that only a year later, they’re able to claim their struggle and come out and show something good.”
