i wonder how would 12 years old percy who said {sang}: “no one will ever take my side” feel like knowing that at 17 years old the entire camp + hunters of artemis searched for him when he was gone because he was someone dear and important to them

Luke being given a quest at 17, feeling like there's no glory in it because it's a quest someone's already succeeded before, but then failing that very quest he considered to be beneath him, getting a permanent scar, "ruining it" for the rest of the campers because now no one else can go on quests and earn glory in the eyes of the gods, so he turns to Kronos, and years later here comes a possible candidate for the great prophecy, 12 years old, gets the first quest the camp has done since Luke's fucked it up, and Luke is actively ensuring this quest is an impossible quest!! he's literally rigged it so Percy's gonna fail (the shoes, the bolt appearing in his bag) and then this kid somehow succeeds still??? and not only that, Percy got the unique quest Luke wanted in the first place and achieved feats no one else had and earned glory in the eyes of his father, all because Luke created the circumstances for that to happen??

oh my god yeah I don't think I'd ever recover from that either

I am a firm believer that when Percy discovers audiobooks, he sets out to finish every book Annabeth loves. He tried to read the books before but with Dyslexia and adhd it could take up to a year to finish the book! Now, though, he's finishing a book within a couple of days. He listens to Little Women whilst he's skating and The Hunger Games as he cooks. Then he starts finding other books and asking Annabeth's opinion on them before pressing play, sometimes finding she hasn't heard of them. This spirals to going to the library in New Rome for college supplies and Percy wandering off returning minutes later with four or five books he's listened to that he thinks Annabeth will like even if he didn't like them. Just Percy doing something for Annabeth and finding a love within it as he discovers audio books.

is it just me or does the circe's island scene and the siren's bay scene parallel each other so perfectly in sea of monsters. in both scenes, a harmful entity shows percy/annabeth a vision of their idea of perfectionism. and in both scenes, both of them put themselves in harm's way thinking that they were going to achieve this vision while in reality they were in danger, and had to be rescued by the other. and both scenes are followed by a comforting hug. but the thing is; the different ideas of perfectionism shown to percy and annabeth align perfectly with their view of life. annabeth hates her life; she feels confident in herself but still hates her broken family, the itching to become great even though she feels so powerless, luke. but percy is different. he hates himself, inside and out. so annabeth saw her life fixed. percy saw himself fixed.

Percy Jackson is out and one detail I don’t see NEAR enough people mentioning which I loved is the small detail where they’re outside the museum getting their sandwiches, and both Percy and Grover open their sandwiches and just trade the meat for the cheese. They didn’t need to talk or ask or anything, they just did it like a practiced habit, and shows how in tune they are with each other.

Rachel is SUCH a girl's girl and I swear if I see ppl hating on her again- like she backed off THE moment she knew annabeth liked Percy, she didn't even have to do that since annabeth wasn't even Percy's girlfriend yet, so she isn't even obligated to back away. Since annabeth has no "claim" over Percy. But she did it anyway because she wanted annabeth to be happy, Shes genuinely so chill and never retaliated when Annabeth went all volcano on her.

One thing I like is how Rick made sure that Percy was NEVER mean to Rachel, or degraded her in any way. There's this thing I've noticed where writers make their characters criticize the female rival in the love triangle to uplift the main love interest. Rachel IS a cool person, and Rick made sure to acknowledge that, by making Percy admit that shes pretty and cool, Tyson calling her beautiful, etc. instead of making her behave badly so she simply exists to make annabeth look "cooler". Which is something, he unfortunately did with Piper and Drew. Making Drew a stereotypical mean girl to uplift Piper and make her look better.
