i need to talk about dps more often tbh. genuinely my favorite movie of all time !!!!!! so here's a little rant on my thoughts

a lot of times i do look at dps in an anderperry (SOMETIMES knarlie) way. they're adorable, i love them, and someone needs to tell them it's been legalized. BUT

i love poetry. i have loved poetry since the 6th grade when i was forced to write a poem and discovered that i could put the simplest words with the greatest meanings into a few paragraphs and suddenly nothing was better. i also look at many things in a poetic sense. this movie is genuinely beautiful

neil's acting could be a metaphor for being queer. it probably is. it's also a gorgeous example of parents living vicariously through their children, even to the point where it physically/mentally harms them.

the pure beauty and allegories in this movie is what makes it so good. yes, i love myself some "doomed yaoi," as my cousin put it. but also, i love the way todd vomits into the snow, symbolizing the corruption of his innocence. i love the way neil stands at his open window, crown lying on top of his head, symbolizing his last moment of peace. i love the way charlie and cameron hate each other so much, because they are complete opposites, cameron being the perfect student, and charlie doing everything he can to cause chaos.

i. love. this. movie. i wrote a speech last year on suicide prevention in teens, using this movie as a sort of base. if anyone even TRIED to recreate it, i don't think it could come close.
