Three years ago today, my world felt as though it were in shambles. I had been quietly struggling with an eating disorder called Anorexia-Nervosa for nearly a year. I had gotten scrawny, my happy place at work was not making me happy, I felt alone, and I was always deeply sad. I decided ‘enough.’ I went to a doctor who told me my actions had a name; that it was a very common mental & physical ailment. When I got home, I felt a sense of serenity. For I found a sense of comfort knowing this vile thing had a name, and that I could be cured. Over the last three years, I have worked hard on that. I’ve had wonderful support from my family & friends along, and I believed in a better future every year. Here we are though, all of our world’s in shambles, mine included. It’s hard to keep to my high level of activity in the state of closure, my happy place at work is nonexistent, my relationship reached its conclusion, and it’s hard not to feel sad some days. However, I realized how far I’ve come since that time. Back then, I would have allowed these daily struggles that we’re ALL facing to consume & fuel my disorder. I never would have been comfortable taking pictures like this back then.
