Imagine Matt’s mother was adamant on getting him to walk, since he was her only child (i think) and felt a bit discouraged because of another child in mothers group nearly walking before him (Matt didn’t care he was too busy crawling backwards)

Then, a family friend named Joyce came along with her baby Jackie, and she set her down to play with Matt for a bit. She reassures Matt’s mother and the two lose contact for some reason (i don’t know either)

Then, years later the kids are in daycare. Jackie’s father played along with her being a wind-up toy as she waddled in the school, a shy Matt hiding behind a shelf. The two become friends that way, but since it was so long ago they don’t remember.

also matt doesn’t care if people call him Mattie because his Poppop did too
