Why did Steve Rogers get a happy ending? Why did he get to have everything he’d ever wanted? Why did he face ZERO FUCKING CONSEQUENCES for all the pain he caused?

Tony deserved his happy ending. After all of the pain, all of the abuse, he died! He deserved to see Morgan grow up, for Peter to go to MIT and be a hero, for him and pepper to grow old together, he deserved his happy ending!

And I’m still so pissed that he never got it…

Zemo's entire plan in Civil War hung on Steve Rogers keeping the Starks brutal deaths secret, like a bastard, and Tony Stark being such a good friend he'd go to Siberia to help Steve and Bucky despite them having broken dozens of laws.

Zemo relied on Rogers being a bastard, and Tony being a good man.

When Wong calls him to the Sanctum’s largest parlor, Stephen sets a bookmark into the text he’s reading with a small sigh and goes. It’s been a quiet day, and while those are often useful, he has to admit that he’s missed the regular pinging of his phone as Tony or Peter or America text him.

Stepping into the parlor, Stephen has a split second to register party decorations before people leap out from behind sofas and desks and curtains with a shout of “Surprise!”

Shock gives way to an incredulous laugh, because there are Tony and Wong and Peter and America and Christine and her husband and half a dozen masters that Stephen is friendly with and even the two apprentices that he usually chooses to assist him when needed, all of them beaming at him. Peter bounces up to him and presses a drink into his hand.

“Thank you,” Stephen says, smiling at everyone before turning his focus to Peter. “Though I confess I’m unsure of the occasion.”

Peter grins. “Mr. Stark said you’d never had a surprise party before! I thought about your birthday, but that was way too far away, so this is a ‘Everyone should have at least one surprise party’ party.”

Stephen has to laugh at that. “Well, it certainly helped with the surprise.”

Peter beams and ushers him into the crowd, more people than Stephen had thought he’d ever see at an event just for him. There’s a reason no one had ever thrown him a surprise party. Or a party of any kind. Peter takes him on a circuit of the guests, making sure not to miss anyone, before eventually depositing him at Tony’s side with an unsubtle wink. Stephen chuckles, watching him go, before turning to Tony. The warmth of the man’s gaze makes his heart skip a beat. 

Cliche, thy name is Stephen, he thinks, but it’s hard to really care when Tony’s there. “Thank you,” he says again, quieter. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, this was Peter’s idea,” Tony says, eyes twinkling.

“Of course,” Stephen agrees. He turns when someone calls his name, and Tony moves with him, staying by his side, and it’s everything he never thought to wish for.

Being kind, caring and considerate feels like a fucking sin most of the time... especially when it comes to our own family. They will throw it back in your face and spit on it. Just... done with being kind.

There is something so poetic about the simplicity of the eight sense? Love in the seconds between blinks. In the comfort of silent togetherness. In a person who is just there and will look at the ocean with you

I honestly love the subversion of expectations so much. It’s not just a “haha gotcha idiots” to fans like mainstream media has loved doing recently, it’s looking the industry, society, and saying “bitch you thought!”

It’s almost become an expectation in gay stories for the characters to suffer and fight and slave for their happy ending, if they even get one at all, and P’Aof made us wonder if this story would be the same before shooting a rainbow confetti canon right into our faces in a blatant rejection of what society expects from queer stories.

Queer people are more than our suffering! We are our joy and love and kindness! And Pat and Pran get to embody that in such a beautiful way!

I want to jump around and point at this ending and say “See! We can be happy! We can be loved! We can have joy without needing to suffer for it!”

Bad Buddy has given a royal middle finger to the people who think queer stories must be tragic and said “No, we will be happy. No one can take this from us, and if you try, we will only come back happier.”
