the light/dark motif in thunderbolts went insanely hard actually. from the literal definition of yelena's name, to the dichotomy of the sentry and the void, to everyone's costumes being mostly dark, to yelena's hair being white, to the name "thunderbolts" invoking the imagery of lightning breaking through a storm cloud, to the constant talk of voids and shadows, lights and sparks. "when you walked into a room, you lit it up" it's about facing the void within, but letting someone else be your light as you do. it's about ava living in the shadows, yelena losing her light, bob letting his darkness consume him, john letting the hole his mistakes created grow until he's hollow, alexei clinging desperately to a time where he still saw the light. it's about all of them being lost in that same pit, just like the elevator shaft; trapped forever at the very bottom of the world, forgotten, abused, discarded, nothing. the only way back up is by relying on each other. being each others' light.

After the war with Monroe, Theo obtains employment at the auto repair shop of a gruff but fair old lady in town who doesn't ask questions or run a background check but definitely thinks he's too thin and haggard and needs someone to give him a break.

He pours his blood, sweat and tears into learning everything he can for the trade because it appeals to him as something where he can use his hands to fix what's broken and make people's lives better, but nobody's life or death hangs on his shoulders.

He likes to blast some pop punk or indie rock tracks in the background while he's working. He definitely knows when Liam has dropped by to pick him up because the boy will either (a) shut off his radio to announce his arrival, (b) turn the station to some of his own insufferable favorite tunes or (c) yank Theo out from under a truck on his crawler and grin down at him and say hi.

Theo is deathly afraid of being left behind by the puppy pack in Beacon Hills, but he also can't stand to go back to BHHS where so many ill memories and nasty scenes of hormonal teenage drama reside, so he works by day and studies for his GED by night. He definitely falls asleep at work over lunch break on his laptop more than once. His boss has never let on that she knows.
