There are so many who have been sexually harassed or assaulted. Men, women, and children. And so often, those affected go on through life, piling blame, self-doubt, and justifications on top of these heinous actions. Many of you will understand what I mean when I say these things live with you, an unwelcome guest, forever. The anxiety never leaves. The fear leeches from your mind. And your heart remains guarded to all. We as a society need to stop brushing these horrifying occurrences under the table, and stop blaming those who have been assaulted. It is NOT our fault. It has taken me YEARS to learn that, and I still struggle with those nagging "buts" and "if I did _ differently". For those reading this, who understand... it's not your fault. I'm going to talk about something that doesn't get talked about enough. And this topic may be hard for some women, so I'm warning you now: this is about miscarriage. Did you know that there are more than 3 million reported miscarriages per year? That is about 15-20% of pregnancies. Which makes up about 1 in 4 women. Did you know that you probably know at least 15-20 women personally who have experienced this loss? Or even more? I am so tired of feeling like my miscarriages are a nonissue. That it is taboo to speak about, and instead of reaching out to loved ones for support, I am expected to grieve in private, and pretend as if it never happened. It happened. I've lost two precious babies. Babies who I will never get to hold. Babies I will never get to soothe, or kiss, or teach to walk. Babies who will never get to grow up, and have a future. My babies MATTER. Whether you agree with Planned Parenthood or not. My children MATTER. And I am so damn tired of people shutting me down. Of being shushed when I talk about it. Of being treated as if it wasn't a big deal, and like I need to get over it. Yes, I have a BEAUTIFUL, wonderful, smart little girl whom I adore. My heart still aches over my loss. If you can grieve losing your pet, then women are allowed to grieve losing their babies. A loss is heartbreaking, no matter the type. Stop acting as if one is somehow "less." So let's open up that line of communication. Let's put an end to the stigma that a miscarriage is TABOO. Women, let's talk and grieve with each other! Let's support each other! You matter. And your babies matter.

Sorry, Happy Hippo followers, I had to take a mental health #vacation! Sometimes, it's just so #relaxing to not have to be on social media 24/7! But I'm back! I'm at a point where I am CONSTANTLY comparing myself to others, and feeling increasingly dissatisfied with the state of my life. I see others who are successful, have their lives together, and have freedom, and I'm just not there yet. I feel unworthy. I feel like a failure. But then I realized; those people who I think are better than me? They've been where I am now. I'm not lost. My path is just different. The road I'm taking is unique to me, and me alone. And that's ok. When the time is right, I know that my speed on the path to my own success will take me exactly where I need to be, when I need to be there. And that each day has a lesson for me to learn, and use for when I do "have my life together." Don't be discouraged as I have. Happy first day of #Summer! And goodness, is it #HOT today! I have such a hard time drinking #water, simply because it's SO boring! My hubby has to constantly remind me to stay #hydrated. So I've started using #essential oils in my water to make it taste #heavenly and it's helped me to drink so much more water! I've been using #Peppermint, #lime and even #Tangerine! I don't know about you, but I LOVE wrapping things. I love getting supplies to wrap gifts! My husband thinks I'm weird (which, he's not wrong), but I just have so much fun giving gifts in pretty wrappings. Father's Day is just about here! And man, let me tell you, #shopping for my #hubby is SO hard. I always want to get him something #spectacular, but he's really not all that into #materialistic items. So I tried something a smidge different this year, and took #inspiration from #aliceinwonderland, with just a little difference. Each package has a specific tag: Wear Me, Eat Me, Drink Me. So, keeping up with his #minimal needs, I got him things I knew he would love, with his #favorite snacks, drinks, and some new #summer clothes. I'm sure some of you will recognize these bowls, as these are the nesting bowls that have graced kitchens for decades. They've generally been passed down through generations, and about a year ago, we got the first pieces of our set. A couple months ago though, we got lucky at a local antique shop and found our missing piece: the green bowl! It's a little chipped, and looks to be from a different #decade than the other three, but it was a find that we simply couldn't pass up.
