Now I’m stuck in England, under the thumb of a father I barely know and the watchful eyes of the Malfoys. Spoiler: they don’t exactly hand out hugs and cookies. This is a story about what happens when you throw one very stubborn witch into the orbit of a man who defines the word dangerous.

I thought on it some more, despite not wanting to. The dream. Why did it unsettle me so much? I’ve had wet dreams about men before. I even had one about my Charms instructor, Professor Daub. He was sixty and looked like Abraham Lincoln; I couldn’t look him in the eye for a month.

But Mr. Malfoy… that felt different. Strange. Like I’d suddenly developed a thing for brooding older men with power complexes. Merlin forbid. I’m absolutely going to have to unpack that in therapy.

Your First Draft Is Supposed to Be Awful

Somewhere, in some cursed corner of the internet, a writer whispered the dangerous idea that your first draft should be… good. And like all bad ideas, it spread. Suddenly, everyone’s trying to make their draft read like it could be printed and shelved in the bookstore tomorrow. Which is ridiculous.

Your first draft isn’t a book. It’s… well, it’s barely even a thing. It’s the ugly braindump you slap down before the real work begins. The plot doesn’t make sense yet. Half the characters sound the same. There’s a paragraph in chapter six you don’t even remember writing. And that’s totally fine.

Right now, your only job is to get the story out of your head and onto a page before it rots in there. Forget about making it pretty or “good.” You’ll get to that later. <3

I think something I struggle with embracing is allowing myself to be completely unhinged with my characters. I find myself thinking, oh no. I can’t do that! They’re people! But like they’re not, I made them up.

There are no laws in fiction land.

It’s the same sentiment when I’m gaming, I always go the lawful good, perhaps chaotic good route. And I soooo don’t want to.

*flexes fingers* alright, time to shake things up.

The 1960s was a decade with a huge variety of fashion styles throughout its ten years - everything from the 1950s influenced silhouettes in the early 60s, to streamline mod fashion and the romantic medieval revival. One notable icon of the decade is, of course, the mini dress. The daring new garment wasn't just relegated to fashion forward women, as it quickly permeated into everyday outfits and by extension, wedding style. Modern brides cast aside traditional floor length gowns and long trains in favour of the new, free-spirited silhouette.

That wasn't to say long dresses went completely out of vogue. As the medieval revival fad grew in popularity, its influence in the bridal world was obvious. Gowns with high empire waists and billowing princess sleeves dominated wedding fashion, and paired perfectly with bouffant hairdos to create a truly unique style that captured the spirit of the 1960s. The floral of choice was the daisy and it could be seen in the bouquet, modelled into jewellery and even adorning hair.

For the 60s bridesmaid colour was all the rage. While pastels were still a popular choice, the bold colours of everyday fashion, such as bubblegum pink and vibrant teal, carried over into maid gowns. Colour blocking grew in popularity, thanks in large part to the mod craze sweeping the fashion world. Bridesmaid dresses could feature a top and skirt in two different yet still coordinated colours, which created a striking look for the bridal party. CC links under the cut.
