“I never said I liked boys.” Shimizu hums amusedly, as if she hasn’t given Hitoka seven heart attacks in the last five minutes. Hitoka’s head snaps up to meet Shimizu’s eyes once more. “Sh-Shimizu-senpai...are you a lesbian? Alternatively Titled: Hitoka is so fucking gay for Kiyoko and doesn’t realize that Kiyoko 1) knows, 2) reciprocates, 3) is waiting for her to realize 1 and 2.

My Review Absolutely_Peachy brings to life one of my favorite fics featuring a lesbian couple. The bases of the story's situation is rather believable and relatable. The narration benefits greatly from the grounded idea. Next I loved the portrayal of Shimizu. Instead of a one dimensional love interest, Absolutely_Peachy gives her quirks and internal battles. They don't out right state what Shimzu feels, and instead uses small subtle actions. My only suggestion is for the pacing of the story. The ending feels rushed. Two solutions can easily be used to fix this issue. First the "17 Steps to a Hero's Journey" outline method can be used. Next you can insert an internal clock such as a deadline. Lance is a mess. Personally and romantically. Hunk can't fix everything, and Lance needs to reach out to his teammates for help. When Keith walks in on Hunk and Lance talking late into the night, Lance takes a chance. Slowly Lance learns hes not the only one who needs help, and he has more to offer than he thinks, a lot more. All these realizations would be easier to figure out, if only team Voltron wasn't always facing life threatening danger.

A.K.A Lance is hopelessly crushing on Keith, figuring out who he is, learning there is a lot he doesn't know about his team and himself, making friends with everyone, but also trying not to die in space. What starts out as a quest for self discovery, turns into a plot about survival and perspective.

Mo-San's Simple Review

DeetsViBre has done a lot of things right in It's OK. They have created a wonderful example of character development and style. When I first was reading through the recently added Voltron Fanfictions, I was pleasantly surprised to find a character focused piece.

Some of the best advice I have ever received about writing is "Write what you know" and here is a perfect example of why. DeetsViBre brings up self-image and mental health aspects of Lance and Keith that can only be clearly expressed from experience. Lance has moments where the entire world seems to fall into the back ground as his self-hatred comes to the forefront. As a reader, I was feeling deeply for the Blue Paladin. He is relatable on a personal level. DeetsViBre doesn't stop there, however. There are six other people in the ship.

Side characters will often become missed opportunities for many pieces, but DeetsViBre brings out their own shining qualities. While Lance might not notice, Hunk has his own demons to deal with. Showcasing Hunk's issues is done beautifully and subtly. When they are brought to the surface the plot is not stalled for even a moment. Instead it pushes the character devlopment and story line further. Not a single word has gone to waist in DeetsViBre's writing.

Finally, I would like to touch on DeetsViBre's style of writing. Monologues are a hard thing to keep the reader involved with. Not only are they able to do this, but DeetsViBre also manages to make the reader feel time slow down. What do I mean by time slowing down? Did they build some sort of time machine? No, but that would be interesting. The writer's descriptions are highly detailed slowing down the flow of the story on purpose. This writing technique can also be seen in other stories, such as Of Mice and Men. The difficulty comes from the chance of making the scene too wordy, or to simply have the scene not flow correctly. DeetsViBre avoids the pitfalls gracefully to bring an interesting insight on an interesting character.

Weekly Recommendations

Alright this week will concentrate mainly on Haikyuu!! fics. Due to my current cold T.T there will be less than six on the list, but do not fear. Instead of more pieces I will write a little about what I think the author is doing right. Any who.... onto the list

iridescent by Molnija Summary~ Do you believe in love at first sight? Not really, no. How foolish. How completely, utterly, perfectly imbecilic. Ship~ Akaashi/Oikawa Thoughts~ Sitting at just over a thousand words iridescent is a lovely short read. Molnija really makes every word count here, and does it ever. They have crafted an almost poetic fic. Definetly check it out ^.^.

Unrequieted by Headphone_Lover Summary~ After months of dealing with the awkward consequences of his confession, Hinata suggests they forget it ever happened. Kageyama agrees instantly but finds that Hinata seems too good at pretending. How annoying. --- “Can you actually do such a thing?” he asked, eyes not leaving Hinata’s brown ones. “I can…I will,” Hinata said quietly. “When have I backed out of a deal I suggested?” Ship~ Hinata/Kageyama Thoughts~ A nice medium length read that will probably total around ten thousand words. Headphone_Lover really pulls out the stops on characterization in this piece. Aside from some very cutsy scenes and characters, they pull off a lovely love triangle. You should give it a shot ^.^ !

Sweet Tooth by neverlanding Summary~ When he'd first been told, he'd found it to be something amusing. He'd laughed it off, made jokes about, "I'll look like a chipmunk. I'll look like- you know when Koganegawa took that volleyball to the face and his cheeks got all puffed up? I'm going to look like that." But now that it was actually going to happen, he'd gone serious and anxious about it. Aone wasn't quite sure what to do with that. Futakuchi's current concern: he has to get his wisdom teeth pulled. Ships~ Aone/Futakuchi Thoughts~ Another shorter fic, sitting around 3,500 words, it creates a perfect read before bed. My love for characterization is, again, satisfied in neverlanding's piece with Futakuchi being my favorite of the pair. The situation is very relatable, but also one of the first times I have seen used in Haikyuu!!.
