(Not about suicide 👇🏼) The fortress walls don’t fall overnight. They weren’t built in a day. Sometimes you must risk knife to heart to heal those walls away. And it’s scary—yes it’s scary— to expose yourself again, knowing that at any moment ...indeed, your life could end. But you must wonder— truly wonder— . had you been living, at all? . As you slowly shed the stone cocoon that stored your flight for too long. . As you begin to let your life resume, even if soon it may be gone. . @mr.sensitivemacho 8.23.2019 . I am reflective, a little somber, but content. I’m satisfied with what I’ve been able to accomplish in my life. I’m at peace with the mistakes I’ve made. (“Confusing Amusement” poem 👇🏼) Trapped in a funhouse, I became a screen for my own distortions, my light reflecting freely into open eyes. . There was nothing to obscure the massive glass shards found while roaming through the dark. There was nowhere to displace my disproportions. . I was on display among many broken portraits, ugly projections fabricated from a shattered self-image— My sight, refracted. . Vision no longer diffracted, illusions formed disillusionment as I succumbed to real demons who mirrored delusions. . Giving up looks so tempting, sometimes. I wonder how many people out there choose to be in bad company for refuge from bad weather—and loneliness. I wonder how many men and women stay in toxic relationships, or toxic jobs, out of necessity. I wonder how many children have no choice but to stay with toxic parents, or in toxic schools, with toxic staff and administrators—I wonder how many of them run away to the streets—out of necessity. I wonder how many homeless people choose homelessness because the weather inside their homes is less bearable than the weather outside. I wonder how many of them were forced out... and I wonder how many of them are able to avoid the institutions looking to send them... home. . As you can see, I’m not in the brightest of moods. I hope you all that follow me can weather the storm, I’m bound to bounce back and post prettier poetry, from home, or from outside, depending on where the wind blows. 😏 .
