There are days you want to leave, days when you want to break free of all that ties you, run away and start over. But then you realise you don't have the courage or the confidence or even the mindset to leave things behind. You are too scared, too emotional, too attached even though you know it breaks you in ways you never thought it could. You try to reason, sympathize with people for the hurt they have accumulated over the years. We are all flawed people, you seem So you are afraid you would regret not seeing them again, not hugging them again, not giving them another chance. Healthy? No, not at all. You are basically cutting out a piece of you, placing it on a plate and passing it over so they can slice and dice your heart into zillion pieces. But knowing all, you still couldn't walk away, you are conditioned to stay, to stoop low until your dignity is torn and tattered, you learn the act of silence hoping it would string peace along. But you lose it at times. You lose control, tears start falling, you need help but you are too ashamed to show people what you are really made of. With some, you are sacred about that judgy tone they bring to the conversationg invalidating all that you feel and that is the last thing you need. Some call it drama, some ask you to leave from all this, but they don't have the faintest clue of all the turmoil that's going inside, they don't understand when you say, "it's not that simple", because some are blessed with the art of ignorance or sometimes privilege, but some like us certainly not. And then there is a few who would really get you, people who reads you even before the words come out, but they are too busy dealing with their own baggage, worries and sorting out their feelings, that you know you are driving them off the cliff trying to hold on, trying to live. So you give up, you realise there is nobody you could really call. A blinking cursor and a blank page. Nothing feels as frightening (and daunting) as that to a writer. As I start to work on a new book, I keep wondering why that beginning aspect of the process is so scary. I think all writers worry that we won’t be able to pull off that mastery of magic again. Take an idea out of our head and build and mold it onto the page. If you talk to a good majority of writers whether they’ve written two or twenty books, this fear always seems to creep in at the beginning of the process. . I’m feeling that sense of dread right now as I begin to work on the opening of another YA Historical book. I can’t say much about it except that it’s requiring a ton of research and that I have to get every historical aspect right. Yes, very daunting, and like I said, a little bit scary too. . All I can do to settle myself is to keep reminding my brain that all stories begin as hot messes. That with time, revision, and a lot of help from critique partners, that small nugget of an idea can slowly become a solid story. . If you’re starting a new book today, good luck! Please know you aren’t in the process alone. Getting started may be rough but don’t give up. Do you remember the last time you have read  book you loved, exercised your brain, learned something new, and fed your curiosities? From the instant we start school, our educators begin teaching us the basics of reading. We learn our alphabet and therefore the unique sounds that every letter makes. Soon, we will read words and full sentences. And before we all know it; we're reading everything from posters to what's printed on cereal boxes to subtitles on movies. But why are we actually taught to read? Is it to be ready to read street signs and directions, study our textbooks, and take tests? Indeed, we were all taught to read, to grasp better, and communicate. The more we read, the more we understand the people around us. And once we read books, the more we discover life beyond what we already know. It helps to train our brain, increase wellness, expand our vocabulary, and helps us to find something new about ourselves. You can see a bunch of scribbles on a page, decipher them into sounds, turn those sounds into words, and then turn those words into emotions and thoughts. WHY DO YOU NEED TO PRIORITIZE READING IN TODYAY'S SOCIETY? An individual who can read can educate themselves in any area of life they did like to. We are in an age that's overflowing with new information. Reading, and more importantly, critical reading is the best mode to rationalize and relate to further information. It is one of all the most effective sorts of self-education for adults too. While it may be easy to observe a YouTube video or hear a podcast, reading still takes the cake when it involves comprehension and increasing your education. As you'll see once you read on, there are lots of benefits that you simply can get from reading. "What does it mean to be loved?" You once asked me. We were on your living room couch watching 'Guru' on your old television set. You were already way over your fair share of beer and chicken and I was struggling to catch up. 'What did you say'? I ask you, literally inhaling a chicken leg to even out the competition. You who lost interest, shrugged and said, "nothing" and we left it at that. I remember you humming to 'Tere Bina' for days after then. And on one conversation months later, when we were re-watching it again, you told me that the movie meant nothing but love to you, that you choose to see only those beautiful shades of love between people and I nodded along,agreeing, not giving it much thought. Today as I walk to your grave with a bouquet full of your favourite buckwheat flowers, I think I know what it means to love atleast you. It's trying to remember somebody so vividly- their likes, their dislikes, their scent, their smile, the conversations, it's trying to breathe life into even the smallest of their memories long after they are gone, it's letting them go with a piece of my heart or all . That's what I do for you, that for me is love. And by the time we meet again, I hope you would have found your answer , tell me then what it means, tell me then how it feels. Sitting by your grave, I read those lines you desperately wanted on your tombstone - the lines of one of your favourite songs and mine. "Jage hain der tak, Hamen kuchh der Sone do thodee see rat Aur hai subah toh Hone do" ( "We've been awake for so long, Let us sleep for some time more There is still some night left Let the morning come" ) So I let you sleep.
